Here, have a part from an Elwing/Earendil/Celebrimbor fic that I'll likely never finish. Earendil and Celebrimbor.

“Cousin,” he called him, because that was the word his mother used when she told him fond stories from her own childhood. Maybe there was a better word for them, but then perhaps not. He’d heard of no other families like his great-grandfather’s among the elves. So, “Cousin,” he said, gentle now, fingers brushing his chin, “please. Let me see.” Celebrimbor let him push his head up and brush the hair from his face with a careful finger. Bruises shadowed his left eye and cheek around the split skin. Beneath that, his eyes looked tired, exhausted in the way only elven eyes could beneath their own light. He was not well. “Who did this?” Celebrimbor didn’t meet his gaze. “It was just a misunderstanding.” “A misunderstanding?” Eärendil repeated with disbelief. “That left you bloodied, broken, and hiding in my ship?” A small smile. A deflection. “I didn’t know it was yours.”

elrond through the ages based on one glorious panel from chapter 95 of Black Butler (hopefully i got that right....). in the context of this sequence, i always thought it was sad to think abt how many people elrond has lost throughout his life alongside how remarkable he is to remain "as kind as summer" still by the time the hobbit rolls around 🥺

i redrew elrond's poses based on ciel's in the original panels BUT i forgot what page exactly the original panel sequence is... however!! if you scroll down to the middle half of this blog post you can find the original reference pic :D warning that it includes heavy spoilers for the black butler manga so u could just alternatively google 'ciel phantomhive running' and it'd probably be one of the first results that pop up haha

Another funnier option would be that neither of them found out until after Elros’ marriage when some confusion arose between Elros and his Wife. Elros then frantically writes to Elrond to ask him what sex is and how it works. Elrond, who has no idea what Elros is talking about, brings this up to Gil Galad, Galadriel and Celebrimbor after a council meeting at which point all three remember, with no small amount of panic, what they forgot to discuss with the twins. This results in one of Gondor’s archives/museums having a stack of letters adressed to Elros Tar Minyatur sent by several famous historical elves. Unfortunately due to the age of the letters and the fact they were written in ancient elvish no one can read them but its is assumed they were important diplomatic messages. If they could read them, the scholars of Gondor might be a little suprised and confused why the adult King of Numenor had received multiple, quite lengthy letters detailing how sex works.

A list of Thingol’s most unlikely friendships in Aman:

Celebrimbor: I’ve spoken about this before, but thanks to his sincere repentance and his efforts in helping Lúthien escape captivity, Celebrimbor is the only Fëanorian to earn Thingol’s respect and friendship. It also helps that Celebrimbor is genuinely interested in learning more about Lúthien, and Thingol is more than happy to share stories about his daughter with him. He also encourages Celebrimbor to meet with Melian so she can help him come to terms with the trauma of his betrayal by Sauron. Thanks to this, their unlikely friendship becomes quite strong.

Turgon: Even though Turgon is younger than Thingol, they’re able to bond over the fact that their daughters both fell in love with and married mortal Men. Thingol is occasionally envious of Turgon, since Idril is still alive, but Turgon helps him and Melian work through the lingering grief of losing Lúthien and Beren, which eases those feelings of jealousy. Plus, they both like to trade stories about their daughters and realms, and they also bond over their shared grudge for most of the Fëanorians.

Finarfin: Since Thingol already has a high opinion of Finrod, he most definitely gets along with Finrod's own father; that is, after he apologizes to him for inadvertently getting Finrod killed on the Quest for the Silmaril. Finarfin is also very grateful for Thingol's friendship, since Thingol lets him vent about his messed-up family; much like how Olwë used to back when he was first courting Eärwen. He also makes sure to apologize to Thingol for the Kinslaying at Alqualondë, since the Teleri are kindred with Thingol, who really appreciates the apology. Basically, Finarfin also becomes a regular guest at New Doriath, and because of his genuine interest in the Sindar and their way of living, he's able to have a strong friendship with the Sindarin king.

Idril: Despite how different she is from Lúthien, there's something about Idril that still reminds Thingol very much of his own daughter. Maybe it's her courage. Or maybe he just misses Lúthien a lot. Regardless, Thingol becomes very fond of Idril, who is also very curious to learn about her daughter-in-law's great-grandfather. Idril is also eager to learn about Lúthien, the first Elleth to fall in love with a mortal Man, and Thingol is more than happy to share his stories with her.

Legolas: When Legolas shows up to Aman, he quickly becomes one of Thingol's most favorite people. After all, he was part of the Fellowship of the Ring, and he's the son of Thranduil, who had been a young elfling back in Doriath. Legolas is also really excited to meet Thingol, having heard many stories about him and the realm of Doriath from his grandfather Oropher. They spend a lot of time together, sharing stories about their respective Elven realms. Legolas shares stories about the Woodland Realm, about what it was like being raised by Thranduil, and Thingol is more than happy to share stories about the beauty of Doriath as well. He's also quite curious about Legolas's friendship with Gimli, who is also just as curious to meet Thingol. Despite an awkward start, Thingol and Gimli warm up to one another, so he also becomes one of Thingol's new friends in Aman.

Unwritten Fics game

I was tagged by @runawaymun to talk about all my as-of-yet unwritten fic ideas! I have many, many of them. Here are a few. Feel free to send me asks about any of them, or to tell me which ones you'd most like to read in the tags!

Earendil-drinks-the-Silmail-AU: see Tumblr post here. Elwing gives Earendil the Silmaril's light to try and heal him from an illness, and both he (and later E&E) now have the light of the Silmaril within them. This causes problems for the Oath of Feanor. Can't decide whether to make it serious and heartbreaking or extremely silly.

Immortal Elros AU: definitely need to post about this one. In which Elros sees the mortals who will become the people of Numenor, loves them, and decides the best way to help them is to be immortal, to protect their descendants and maintain their legacy long after they're gone. He becomes Numenor's beloved guardian, caring for it's people for centuries. This all goes pretty well until Tar-Mairon shows up on the island.

Faustian Bargain AU: when both Gil-Galad and Celebrimbor are captured during Eregion's fall, Elrond makes a dangerous deal with Sauron to get them back. In exchange for their release, Elrond offers to become Sauron's captive, and to help him in his efforts to reach the Void and free Morgoth. Elrond, of course, has other plans. So do the now-free (and incredibly worried) Gil Galad and Celebrimbor.

Unexpected Problems: see Tumblr posts here and here. All about the issues Elrond runs into in Valinor– from people debating about whether or not he counts as an Ainur to Noldor being scandalized that he only wears a couple pounds of jewelry. Also his repeated attempts to stop Galadriel and Bilbo from completely destroying Valinorian society.

The Love of a Parent: Elrond's parents continue to look out for him, whether from beyond the circles of the world or from the stars above. Probably largely outsider POV. A chance for more eldritchry.

On Estel: In which Earendil goes into the void, searching for Maeglin's lost spirit. Slight AU in the sense that it's very Maeglin sympathetic, and has him having a good familial relationship with Turgon, Idril, and Earendil.

Ten Little Soldier Boys: my take on who Finrod's faithful ten were, why they were so loyal, and the moments they each decided they would give anything to keep Finrod safe. OC heavy but very dear to my heart.

Misfits, Outcasts, and other Characters of Ill-Repute: a series of oneshots about the various people who end up in Rivendell and how they got there. Includes canon characters (Glorfindel, Erestor, Lindir, etc.) and some OCs (including an old Feanorian diehard and one of Thingol's bodyguards, and, of course, Garthaglir the Library Orc)

The main details I'm figuring out right now are

does Celebrimbor still die at Eregion - I don't think he's getting captured/tortured, but he could still die in the battle. On the other hand, he could probably survive by using Narya & Lomion using Nenya, but that would definitely have repercussions further down the line

how does Idril's deal work - I'm currently thinking of Idril exchanging the location of Gondolin for her family's guaranteed safety, because it seems in character for Reverse Idril? But on the other hand, even if I limit it to immediate family at the time of the oath (tuor, turgon, earendil) then idk where turgon dies? Maybe Maglor can kill him but that seems kind of random

where and how does Turgon die

how does Prince Elrond's character even work

how does Numenor still fall when factoring in Prince Elrond - I'm thinking that the morgoth death cult gained enough traction during the time sauron was there that even after Elrond kicks him out, the cult still sticks around and reemerges later? The Fall still happens, but they never go to attack valinor and there's a good deal more Faithful (maybe 40-60%?)

I had this idea that when Lúthien is held captive in Nargothrond, she actually makes one friend during her captivity: Celebrimbor himself.

Celebrimbor is disgusted with his uncle and father for thinking that they could force Lúthien into marriage, so he basically appoints himself as her “bodyguard” to keep Celegorm away from her. And during those days, he and Lúthien become tentative friends— Lúthien appreciates Celebrimbor’s protection, and Celebrimbor genuinely admires Lúthien’s bravery in her quest.

The turning point for his loyalty is when Celebrimbor is kept away from Lúthien by his own father so Celegorm can try to (unsuccessfully) seduce her. Needless to say, Celebrimbor gets pissed, and he actually sends Huan to Lúthien to free her, then keeps C&C busy so they don’t notice Lúthien’s escape.

Sorry if this is too long! I hope it’s alright to share this headcanon with you!

no i absolutely love this! i for one find celebrimbor's stark departure from the rest of his house very appealing -- as i've said before, he is the precise inverse of his grandfather and uncles' behavior in many ways -- and i think this headcanon just hammers that in harder. it's another headcanon i've seen, and one i do adopt, that out of all his uncles, celegorm was the closest to celebrimbor since it's very plausible that they spent lots of time together in himlad (though it's not 100% certain if celebrimbor was with c&c there, i find it likely) and later in nargothrond (which we do know he dwelt for certain). and given that headcanon, i can imagine how seeing a person who was so close with and kind to him doing such vile things must have distressed and angered celebrimbor. possibly he felt even angrier because this is his favorite uncle whom he once loved so much. and i especially dig the thought that he was the one who sent huan to luthien, and perhaps that luthien realized it was him and was touched at the knowledge of how much he was looking out for her. and now i'm also thinking of the sad possibilities of how celebrimbor might cherish their brief but meaningful friendship, since he can never see luthien again after she goes beyond arda.

oh oh oh and remember we discussed the concept of thingol and celebrimbor becoming close in valinor???? imagine -- during her stay in nargothrond, luthien could have told celebrimbor about her father, and later celebrimbor tells thingol about the time he spent with luthien. plus thingol also telling celebrimbor stories about his daughter during her childhood and younger years and celebrimbor being delighted to listen to them! this is such a sweet and wholesome idea in so many ways, thank you for sharing it <3

I really like to think that celebrimbor approaches elwing on balar once (sirion and balar kind of work as a union of sorts in my mind but even without this she must have visited sometimes), and at first she's frightened and evasive, but then he says he understands if she never wants anything to do with him again, but he just has to tell her that as far as he has any say in it, the silmaril is 100% hers.

“Look, just come up and we’ll work this out. I’ll pull you out if I have to but I won’t be inclined to deal with you kindly if you make me do that.” He glared down into the depths. If the unwelcome visitor was an elf, they should be able to see his expression just fine and he wanted them to know he was serious. A moment passed, then, “You might have to,” whispered softly up to him. “What?” He squinted into the black hole. More sliding and shuffling, and now he could see something moving below him. “I fell,” the shadow said hesitantly. “I can’t get up.”

“Do you have a bathing room?” Erestor asked over Elrond’s shoulder. They had to walk in single file, the hall was so narrow. The girl looked over her shoulder. “Not so much a room, but we’ve a bath near the stable. The water’s pumped up from a hot spring. No extra fee to use it, but for just half a copper, my father can wash and style your hair. Or cut, if you want,” she added as an afterthought, looking at Elrond. “We have flower oils from the east that none of the salons around here have.”  “Thanks for letting us know,” Elrond said before Erestor could bluntly reject the sales pitch.

Sword

The orcs scatter as Glorfindel turns Asfaloth about for another pass. Black blood streaks his sword and the stallion’s hide. There is red blood, too, streaming down Asfaloth’s right foreleg from a gash on his chest.

Part 1 of Do Not Unto Others

“How is it, exactly, that you managed to get yourself kicked out of Estë’s gardens? Reading this does not give me the impression they sent you here because you were wholly healed.” Celebrían, who did not feel particularly healed, but did at least feel angry, which was more emotion than she’d been able to conjure in over a year, said, “I was asking questions.” “Ah,” said Finrod, “yes. That would do it.” -- Celebrían prepares to mount a legal challenge for the right to see her husband (no, the other husband) reborn. For this, she must gather allies from across Valinor and out of the wreckage of the House of Finwë. Perhaps along the way, there is healing to be found too.

Elrond’s Jewellery collection!

Some things that were handed down, gifted or just bought for himself. only a select few pieces, his full collection needs an entire room of its own.

Peacock hair comb - belonged to Maglor. It was bought by Celegorm from a street vender in central Tirion for Maglor’s birthday. He said that since Maglor acted like a peacock so he may as well dress as one.

Lily flower earings - a gift from Cirdan after Elrond and Elros’s return. The boys were going through a lot mentally especially Elrond as Elros began to get closer to the Edain. Lily’s are a symbol of rebirth and resurrection.

Elwing’s wedding ring - once belonged to Elenwe’s. Jewellery making wasn’t a major priority in the havens of sirion so this was the best Earendil could do.

Golden cuff with a beautiful picture of a field on a sunny day carved into it. - Belonged to his nurse from Sirion. He took it from her corpse. She had no family left in middle earth so he kept it with the intention of returning it one day.

A set of rings each with a little dogs carved into it. - Bought from Haladin merchant.

Delicate pearl necklace with two small swan’s intertwining. - Gifted from a tween Findekano with a not-at-all-obvious crush to Maitimo after he returned from visiting Aqualonde.

Cherry blossom Hairpin - that functions as dagger. From a sindar lord with a bit of a crush.

Bronze bangles - Celebrimbor bought them from Narvi and sent them to Lindon as one of Elrond’s coming of age gifts.

Crystal earrings previously belonged to Galadriel. He claims to not know how they ended up in his possession.

Seahorse Broach bought in Numenor during a visit to his nieces and nephews.

Flower crown made of solid gold crafted by Feanor after Maitimo went through a very public and very bad break up with a Vanya nobleman. He showed up to the spring festival wearing it like princess Diana in her revenge dress.

A heavy golden choker with red jewels. Gifted to Maitimo by Melkor on his birthday during the years of the trees no one was comfortable with this least of all Maitimo but he couldn’t refuse a gift from one of the Valar so publicly. Even Celebrimbor’s maia friend seemed very tense and almost angry when he saw it. Mostly stays inside jewellery box, occasionally goes on display in museums.

A little coin with boats on a raging ocean engraved on it Earendil found it washed up on the beach and gave it to him and Elros to share. Has a little gold chain that lets it be worn as a necklace.

A list of Celebrimbor’s most unexpected friendships throughout his life:

Lúthien: During her capture in Nargothrond, Celebrimbor is quick to befriend her and keep her safe from Celegorm’s advances. Lúthien also trusts him alone, and she appreciates his efforts in protecting her from his father and uncle. He admires her for her courage in trying to save Beren, and he plots with Huan to help her escape. He’s glad to hear of her quest being successful, and he gets saddened to hear of her becoming mortal. Celebrimbor wishes that he could’ve met Lúthien again— maybe even Beren as well.

Elwing: After his re-embodiment in Aman, Celebrimbor makes sure to apologize to Elwing for all of the pain his family has brought on her— she’s the second person he apologizes to after Finrod. Elwing slowly warms up to Celebrimbor, and he becomes a trusted friend of hers very quickly. He also shares stories about Elrond with her, and Elwing genuinely loves hearing his stories about her son. Basically, she regularly invites him for tea so that they can share stories together, and even Eärendil comes to appreciate Celebrimbor’s company.

Thingol: This is perhaps the most unlikely friendship of his. Celebrimbor expected to be turned away and scorned by the king of New Doriath, so he’s stunned when Thingol actually listens to his apology. And he’s even more surprised when Thingol invites him to have tea and tell him more about himself. Basically, Celebrimbor becomes the first and only Fëanorian to earn Thingol’s trust and respect, and he becomes a regular guest in New Doriath. It helps that Thingol is grateful to him for his part in helping Lúthien escape from Nargothrond. He and Thingol will talk about what it’s like to have very close relations with Maiar, and Thingol even helps Celebrimbor come to terms with his own deception by Annatar/Sauron.

Melian: Maybe this friendship shouldn’t be a big surprise to Celebrimbor— after all, he befriended her husband. However, after hearing how he had been deceived by Sauron, Melian wants to heal the lingering wounds that Sauron left in Celebrimbor’s spirit. The more time he spends with her, the more Celebrimbor heals. He finds her presence soothing and peaceful, and she is especially patient and understanding when he tells her about Annatar. She helps him recognize the subtle warning signs he’d failed to notice in Annatar, helps him come to terms with his own conflicted emotions about Annatar/Sauron, and she doesn’t even judge him for having loved his tormentor. And like Thingol, Melian is truly grateful to Celebrimbor for his part in helping Lúthien escape from Nargothrond
