Fortunately, Belle and Adam have a son the following year, and Topher is bumped down to being the spare.  But unlike the spares of old, there is no room for Topher to be anything less than perfect.  He’s the eldest royal child in Auradon, the blueprint upon which every other child’s future will be mapped.  A modern day Atlas, carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, but a sacrifice that he made willingly so that no other royal child would have to.  Along with being the perfect prince himself, Topher took his responsibility as Ben’s right hand incredibly seriously.  Whether that be coaching him in all of the skills that a prince should have, or tutoring him on matters of policy and protocol, or helping him draft his first official decree as king.  Whatever it may take, Topher would do anything to protect and support Ben, to help him be the best king he could be without having to sacrifice his childhood.  When Ben brings five children from the Isle to Auradon, Topher volunteers himself to help them adapt to their new home.  But his determination to see Ben’s plan succeed is put to the test when he meets Evander Grimhilde, the unfairly attractive son of the Evil Queen.

You need to calm down.

I just wanna say my high school did Beauty and the Beast and our Belle was black. It was one of the best shows we ever did and it nearly sold out every show. She also played Elle in Legally Blonde. We also had a great turnout that year. Yeah it was a high school so casting in those cases can go in many many directions depending on your school's demographic (mine was like 75% Hispanic, 20 something percent black, a smaller percentage white, including myself, and the rest was Asian) but all the elementary schools and middle schools that saw that show were dying to meet Belle. Just Belle. They wanted to see the yellow dress in person. They wanted to see her beautiful hairdo. They wanted to brag about meeting a Disney princess. Unfortunately we couldn't make that dream come true because of their bus schedules BUT I guarantee you there were probably a couple of little girls out there that were seeing Beauty and the Beast and were inspired to be a braver and stronger woman as they grew up. There were white girls that auditioned. They didn't live up to the vision the director had for Belle. She did it better. She got the role. Not enough of the white girls tried hard enough to be Belle. She stood out, she delivered, she did a great job. Her Elle Woods was literally amazing as well. I think it was gonna be her or a light skinned Hispanic but I'm not the director so for all I know I was secretly up for Elle too despite getting Paulette.

You are all gonna be skeptical now. Of course you are. But why would she not have red hair? THAT is what makes Ariel standout more than her skin tone and even her bright green mermaid tale and purple seashell bra. Mermaids were actually a great part of African culture. Atlantica is apparently close by Africa if I'm correct. And how do I know this? I educate myself. I do research. And then I engage in educated conversations offline rather than being so cruel and hateful instantaneously on Twitter/Instagram/Facebook whatever. Sure Halle was nowhere near the choice for Ariel I had in mind. Sure I was surprised when I saw she was cast. Sure it might be odd at first to see a black Ariel. BUT I am so open minded. She has a very sweet and delicate singing voice which is Ariel's biggest strength and she is absolutely stunningly beautiful. She's got great acting chops from her work on black-ish and grown-ish. And she's 19??? Are you kidding me??? That's AMAZING! She's gonna be so inspirational to a lot of little girls and seeing videos of that kind of stuff online makes me ugly cry. That's what I'm most excited for about this movie.

I guarantee you the project only has a few things done rn; a first draft of a script, a vision board, some new arrangements of the songs and score done by Lin Manuel-Miranda (the king of diversity) and Alan Menken (the king of Disney music), and the starting stages of a cast clearly. The costumes aren't made, filming hasn't even started, and yet everyone is automatically jumping to the conclusion that the movie is officially ruined. What if they're modernizing it since there's no specific time period stated in the original? What if it's not meant for your generation? (It actually isn't for real though). You don't know. You aren't behind the table. Let the people make the damn movie. Then look at production photos, see the movie, let the actors tell the story and see the new approach and interpretations, then you can make your racist petitions and hateful and discriminatory comments.

I can't wait for the close-minded people to be proven wrong.

Theory: Instagram Is the Best Place to Find Cool Accessories

This is perhaps a function of the limitations that arise when you are in the process of deliberately growing rotund at the epicenter of your body, or maybe it’s simply a matter of the time of year — the festival(s) of lights are upon us and as such, I am festively wearing light! For one of these two reasons, I can’t stop thinking about the various and manifold ways to decorate my person. Not merely decorate my person, though, but how to do it in a way that highlights personal style possibilities that accentuate my limbs and completely ignore the rest of my body (except for, you know, my neck and head).

It is great fun for a number of reasons. Imagine this scenario: Here I sit, wearing a striped turtleneck and black leggings with at least six rings on my fingers (I say “at least” because I’m typing really fast and can’t quite tell if I have any stackables on), a faux fur scrunchie in my hair, a grosgrain headband, also in my hair, two colorful beaded necklaces around my neck and little dangling pearls in my ears. Pearls! My ears! I came in wearing a basket this morning that is lined in shearling.

There is another bag in my periphery with rhinestone studs all over it. It is so cool and so weird and also distracting. You might even forget, as a matter of fact, about the growth at my center because you’re too busy judging how wild I look! (To be clear, I wouldn’t blame you.) But it just reads to me as personal style. You want to know how to execute the cojones of personal style? Wear boring clothes and let your accessories talk for you. The other thing is that the jewelry and these head pieces and my eyeballs (at some point, there were sunglasses, too) aren’t sized — the items are all inclusive like a Club Med vacation and by simple virtue of that, we all get to participate, which makes me emotional in a good way.

Frankly, it seems like a mere matter of time before my real calling must be actualized and I am forced by the trenches of my own guts to launch an accessories brand, (are you in or are you out?), but until then, let us act like the millennials we are, aspire to be, or judge fervently, and take to Instagram, where the most interesting independent brands are making themselves known, further perpetuating my thesis that the best shopping right now occurs almost exclusively on Instagram. Here are 6 brands (really more like 10) that you should know if you’re into treating your appendages like they’re Christmas trees.

This brand is for you if you love pearls, faces, bodies and various animals made out of gold wire and not spending more than $100 on said wire. (And if you like this brand, you might also like this one. It’s a bit more expensive, but worth its salt.) And while we’re on the topic of pearls…

These from Safsafu can be a gateway drug, but this collection is really for you if you are willing to take a chance on half moon-shaped rhinestones, enjoy hearts and the sporadic pearl, and like a ring that is so large it could probably knock a passerby out.

If, however, you fancy yourself more of a marbles kind of person, I found Jessica Winzelberg through Harling. Her price point is between $125 and $320 as far as my eye can tell.

This brand is for you if you like feeling as though you’re wearing a silvered or gilded version of the ocean around your neck, your wrists or on your pinky finger. Fun fact about this brand: I actually found the designer, based in Istanbul, Turkey, through Kate Foley and then hunted her ass down on Instagram and executed my transaction through private messages. Here’s hoping they’re secure!

Kourtney Kardashian found him too, so I’m not sure if this can be considered one of Instagram’s hidden gems any longer, but over the summer, with the influx of tiny cat eyes (kitten eyes?) permeating the faces of anyone who would allow them to, George Keburia stood out as a uniquely qualified clothing designer with an affinity for the so-ugly-they’re-good sunglasses that have come to define this cultural moment in time. This brand is for you if you’re into pop culture (so is this, btw). If you’re not, maybe I can lure you into my armpit with these heart-shaped glasses, of which I am a huge fan.

I call this “proof,” but you can just answer the question if you want.

This collection is for you if you are familiar with Heimet Atlantica, but feel more connected to straw bags that contain bamboo handle bars, and also hail from the Bahamas! You can buy them through Instagram, sure, or just hit up Fivestory. They’re $250 a pop and in my opinion, may as well be an Hermès Kelly. Eh?

It would be super weird if I didn’t include Roxanne Assoulin on this list, right? Although I did not find her on Instagram and have in fact known her for the greater part of a full decade, without her equal parts bright and sparkly ass contribution to the social media app, I have no idea how I would have been able to execute any of the following photos:

I could keep going, but there’s no point. The conclusion is single-fold; for as many handicaps as Instagram has produced for the the fate of our abilities to socialize, focus, get stuff done and so forth, it is also a dazzling discovery tool that facilitates the publicity and subsequent success of small brands with small inventories and small, piecemeal shops. Couple this with both the holiday hankering to ~accessorize~ and a natural want to speak without words — through your wrists, not your clothes, and often at a price point that can feel more digestible — and what we have is a trifecta that results in emotional excellence.

Now, seriously, should we launch an accessories brand or what? Would you buy into it? What would you want to buy? Tell me everything!

Définitivement, tout est là pour plaire au plus grand nombre de gens! Des nouveautés intrigantes et intéressantes.

Frampton Brasse - Rouge des Appalaches Bière rousse (Rouge des Flandres). Bière rouge acidulée, fruitée et légèrement sucrée avec des arômes de chêne, de vanille et de pommes qui donnent un goût rappelant le vin rouge. L’ajout de cerises pendant la maturation et le vieillissement de près d’un an en barils de chêne la rend encore plus savoureuse.

Bikecoeur broue ink - Full Batch Bière rousse à l'amaretto. Belle rondeur. Goût prononcé d’amaretto. Saveurs et arômes d'amande.

Bièrerie Shelton - NEIPA IPA de type New England. Nouvel arrivage de cette merveille! Tout aussi houblonnée que les bières de la Côte-Ouest américaine, son goût est volontairement moins amer et résineux. Veloutée et juteuse en bouche, elle possède de puissants arômes de fruits tropicaux et d'agrumes.

Bièrerie Shelton - Saison houblonnée Saison. Enfin, elle est de retour parmi nous! Cette bière présente des arômes de fruits tropicaux avec un léger goût d'épices et de vanille provenant de la levure belge.

Beau's All Natural Brewing Co. - New Lang Syne Triple. Les premières impressions qui se détachent sont celles du zeste de citron, de la papaye et des fruits tropicaux. Le caractère du vin s’harmonise aux tannins fermes. Les variétés de houblon français et allemand procurent un agréable équilibre. Une sensation en bouche pure et pétillante mène à une finale distinctement fruitée, aux notes poivrées subtiles.

Microbrasserie Goudale - En se mystifiant IPA. Bière concoctée avec 8 houblons différents qui offrent des saveurs de fruits et de pin. Saveurs de figues, d'abricots et d'agrumes.

MonsRegius bières artisanales - Rustica Atlantica Saison. Bière à robe dorée, rafraîchissante et bien pétillante. Au nez et en bouche, les notes épicées apportées par la levure se lient aux arômes poivrés et herbacés du houblon Opal.

L’Académie internationale de musique Maurice Ravel et le festival Musique en Côte basque unissent leurs forces pour honorer, désormais sous l’appellation de Festival Ravel, le plus fameux des enfants de l’Euskadi – celui que Roland-Manuel surnommait le « géomètre du mystère ».

C’est en 1960, sous l’impulsion de Pierre Laramendy, futur maire de la ville, et sous le nom de « Grande semaine de Saint-Jean-de-Luz », que fut créé le festival pluridisciplinaire qui, dans les années 1980, sous l’intitulé « Musique en Côte basque », allait s’imposer comme l’un des principaux rendez-vous de la rentrée mélomane.

Sept ans plus tard, en 1967, le même Pierre Larramendy contribuait à la fondation de l’Académie internationale de musique Maurice Ravel, conçue comme une sorte de « conservatoire vivant de la musique française de tous les temps » destiné à oeuvrer à la formation des futurs jeunes solistes via de nombreuses classes d’interprétation, mais surtout à honorer la mémoire et la musique du plus illustre des enfants du Pays basque.

Né à Ciboure d’une mère basque, Maurice Ravel (1875-1937), s’il fut un artiste essentiellement parisien et si les influences vernaculaires demeurent somme toute assez peu audibles dans sa musique, ne cessa en effet, sa vie durant, de revenir à ses origines voire de les revendiquer de plus en plus fortement, effectuant de fréquents séjours dans ce qu’il appelait « [s]on pays », à la faveur desquels virent le jour nombre de ses partitions clés – à commencer par son fameux Boléro (sur ses liens avec l’Euskadi, on conseillera d’ailleurs vivement la lecture du très complet ouvrage d’Étienne Rousseau-Plotto, Ravel, Portraits basques, paru aux éditions Atlantica-Séguier).

Aujourd’hui, au moment où l’Académie présidée par le pianiste et chef d’orchestre Jean-François Heisser célèbre son cinquantenaire et alors que l’on commémorera, le 28 décembre prochain, les 80 ans de la disparition du compositeur, elle a décidé d’unir ses forces à celles de Musique en Côte basque afin d’« ériger en phare culturel de la Nouvelle-Aquitaine la personnalité de Maurice Ravel » via une manifestation qui « développe l’idée de transmission, de passerelle entre les générations de musiciens ».

Bienvenue donc à ce Festival Ravel qui, du 27 août au 17 septembre et d’Urrugne à Bayonne, proposera, parallèlement aux différentes master class (chant, piano, violon, violoncelle, musique de chambre, composition...) confiées à des artistes de premier rang, un ensemble de 17 concerts des plus alléchants : outre l’oeuvre de Ravel, ils aborderont également celles des musiciens qui l’ont influencé, de Mozart à Fauré, de ses contemporains, voire de ses possibles héritiers actuels, d’Olivier Greif et Karol Beffa à Ramon Lazkano, compositeur en résidence dont, le mercredi 6 septembre en l’église de Ciboure, les Jeunes Talents de l’Académie donneront une création mondiale.

Le Festival Ravel est avant tout l’occasion rêvée de goûter aux inépuisables sortilèges de cette oeuvre dont la seule chose que l’on puisse regretter est qu’elle se résume encore trop souvent à ce Boléro plutôt atypique, qui reste le plus gros « tube » jamais composé par un musicien français. Car la musique de Ravel est bien d’un « géomètre du mystère », pour reprendre le mot fameux de son ami Roland-Manuel : d’une suprême élégance, d’une précision et d’une facture étourdissantes, d’une évidence mélodique et d’un raffinement harmonique sans pareils, imprégnée des sonorités de son époque (de Debussy, Satie et Stravinsky au jazz et aux musiques populaires) sans jamais se départir d’une grâce intemporelle, elle déploie avec une pudeur constante une mélancolie rêveuse et térébrante, qui émeut au plus profond.

L’oeuvre pour piano, dont la production jalonne la (trop brève) carrière du compositeur, est peut-être le plus révélateur des laboratoires pour éprouver cette alchimie – des liquides Miroirs à la languide Pavane pour une infante défunte, de la délicatesse enfantine de Ma Mère l’Oye à la perfection classique du Tombeau de Couperin, et jusqu’à la brillance tour à tour moderniste et hédoniste, solaire et délétère, des deux Concertos pour piano (quasiment ses dernières oeuvres).

Cela tombe bien : on pourra, au cours de ce Festival Ravel 2017, écouter l’intégrale de l’oeuvre pour piano solo et concertant de Ravel, interprétée par un aréopage d’éminents interprètes, tels Bertrand Chamayou, Marie-Josèphe Jude, Jean-François Heisser — en particulier au cours d’une folle après-midi titrée « Ravel en fête », le samedi 9 septembre, à Anglet.

On notera au passage que le concert du 8 septembre à Saint-Jean-de-Luz — mêlant deux superbes pièces de Rimsky-Korsakov au vertigineux Concerto pour la main gauche de Ravel par le pianiste Jean-Frédéric Neuburger et l’Orchestre Symphonique d’Euskadi sous la direction de Vladimir Kulenovic – sera repris les 18 et 19 octobre à l’Auditorium de l’Opéra de Bordeaux.

Et si, vraiment, vous êtes pathologiquement allergique aux sortilèges ravéliens, sachez que vous aurez le plaisir d’entendre bien d’autres grands interprètes – de Renaud Capuçon à Boris Berezovsky, en passant par le quatuor Ébène – dans bien d’autres répertoires, de Haydn et Beethoven à Verdi et Gershwin.

Pistacia atlantica est une espèce de pistache connue sous le nom commun anglais Mt. Arbre de mastic de l’Atlas et comme l’ arbre de la térébenthine perse . En Iran , on l’appelle baneh . Aux îles Canaries, il est connu sous le nom d’Almacigo, et en arabe, il s’appelle بطم ( buṭm ou buṭum ). Dans le sud de l’Iran , dans Bandar-Abbas, dans la province de Hormozgān, il s’appelle kasoudang et à Bushehr on l’appelle kolkhong . En Turquie, il est communément appelé melengiç . Dans le kurde arbre est appelé Darwan ou Daraban, et la graine est appelée qezwan ( قەزوان ).

C’est un arbre du genre Pistacia . C’est un membre du même genre que la pistache , la terebinthe et le mastic . Le genre Pistacia s’étend des arbustes aux arbres adaptés à la sécheresse et au climat méditerranéen.

C’est plus fort que Pistacia terebinthus , où il est utilisé comme porte-greffe en Ukraine et aux États-Unis pour cultiver Pistacia vera , mais résiste au gel mieux que P. terebinthus .

Il est important de lutter contre l’érosion des sols. Il renforce le sol et est utilisé pour le reboisement des pentes arides et escarpées et contre les glissements de terrain. C’est un ruisseau urbain typique des villes de la mer Noire.

Les graines, comme la pistache, sont des graines oléagineuses comestibles, comme des noix, et contiennent jusqu’à 60% de matières grasses. Candy fait avec P. atlantica en turc s’appelle Tsukpi pistache . Parfois, le fruit immature est récolté et mangé avec du lait agité. La plante contient une résine, utilisée comme chewing gum à Kevan, en Turquie, où elle s’appelle kevove rubber tree.

La résine est utilisée pour fabriquer de l’alcool et de la laque. Ses huiles essentielles sont utilisées dans l’industrie des parfums. Les feuilles sont riches en tanins, jusqu’à 20% dans les galles causées par un parasite du puceron, utilisé comme matière première pour le bronzage dans l’industrie du cuir. La sève est séchée et utilisée comme encens, et sa fumée libère une odeur agréable à l’environnement local pour les célébrations et les cérémonies religieuses, en tant que «encens».

Pistacia atlantica est un arbre à feuilles caduques qui mesure jusqu’à 7 m (23 pi) de hauteur et que les branches se répandent et s’élèvent pour former une couronne dense. Le coffre est robuste et recouvert d’écorce fissurée. Les vieux arbres peuvent avoir des troncs mesurant 2 m (6 pi 7 po) de diamètre; Il peut prendre 200 ans pour qu’un arbre atteigne 1 m (3 pi 3 po) de largeur. Les feuilles sont pinnates, chacune avec sept à neuf feuillets en forme de lance.

Les feuilles et les branches ont souvent des galles lorsque l’arbre est infesté d’espèces de pucerons productrices de galles , y compris Pemphigus utricularis , Slavum wertheimae et Forda riccobonii .

L’arbre est dioïque avec des arbres mâles et femelles produisant différents types de fleurs. Les deux types sont petits et verts et tombent rapidement. Des arbres mono et hermaphrodite ont été vus, mais sont inhabituels. Le fruit oblong, charnu et huileux porté par l’arbre femelle est de 6 à 8 mm (0,24 à 0,31 po) de long et de couleur rose, en mûrissant au bleu. Il devient lent de 1000 ans. Il a cassé l’écorce avec une couleur gris cendre. Les branches plus anciennes ont le même design, la fractures et la couleur des cendres, ce qui donne à l’arbre un aspect grisonnant. Les feuilles sont ovales, presque sessiles, brillant au-dessus et vert foncé, avec sept à neuf feuillets, impartisseurs avec des pétioles un peu ailés, des fleurs dans des racémes laxistes, masculins et féminins sur différents arbres. Les fleurs sont unisexuées, petites, vert discrète, Épais comme du pois, puis change de bleu rougeâtre. Dans les régions plus froides, les feuilles en mai vérifient et tombent en novembre. Bien que dioïques, dans certaines communautés, les hommes dominent les spécimens féminins en nombre. Il pousse dans les forêts de chêne et le sclerophyllus de chêne. Les fruits mûrissent de juillet à octobre, commencent à porter leurs fruits à l’âge de huit à dix ans, avec des fruits abondants après deux à trois ans.

Il est originaire d’une partie de l’ Eurasie du plateau iranien à la Libye (Afrique du Nord) , où il était autrefois commun. Parce que d’autres arbres étaient rares, c’était la seule bonne source de bois et a été récolté en trop , réduisant ainsi sa distribution actuelle. C’est un arbre commun dans les forêts de montagne en Iran et il est “caractéristique” du paysage dans certaines parties de l’Algérie en dehors du Sahara .

L’almacigo est un arbre qui s’étend de la Libye (Afrique du Nord) et se trouve dans des forêts thermophiles, jusqu’à 600 m d’altitude. C’est l’une des rares espèces à feuilles caduques originaires de l’archipel des Canaries. Il est originaire d’Eurasie, du plateau iranien , de Libye (Afrique du Nord).

Il existe de nombreuses utilisations pour cette plante. Cette pistache sauvage est l’arbre le plus important sur le plan économique dans de nombreuses parties de l’Iran, y compris les montagnes de Zagros , où elle est gérée comme un arbre forestier précieux. La résine et l’huile de fruit ont été historiquement utilisées à divers usages médicinaux . La résine, connue en Iran comme saqez , est encore une marchandise importante.

Les tanins des galles ont été utilisés pour le bronzage . Les fruits de pistache sont une source de nourriture dans la région, mais le pistache P. vera plus couramment cultivé est plus précieux pour la production alimentaire. Il utilise dans un aliment dans la province de Fars, nommé “OuBanneh” (اوبنه). Les fruits crus de la pistache sauvage ne sont pas favorisés comme nourriture et se disent goût comme la térébenthine .

Ils représentent environ 45% d’huile.

Pistacia atlantica est plantée comme un arbre décoratif à l’ ombre et à la tolérance à la sécheresse dans les jardins et les parcs . En Californie, il est importé pour servir de porte-greffe pour les pistaches cultivées ( Pistacia vera ). Les deux introductions ont conduit à son évasion et à son statut actuel comme espèce invasive occasionnelle en Californie.
