The DunBroch Family.
Merida never married, but she had daughters with a descendant of one of the three brothers of Mor’du (a great grandnephew).
Merida and Alastair shared a deep bond rooted in their mutual defiance of societal expectations. While Merida challenged the stereotypical princess role Alastair did so by embracing more "feminine" interests, like painting, sewing, and music. They connected over their shared sense of individuality and independence. Merida admired Alastair’s intelligence, diplomacy, curiosity, and adventurous spirit, while he valued her fierce spirit. Though romance never bloomed between them, their friendship was unwavering.
Now Merida, who had always adored caring for her younger brothers, knew she wanted children but still had no desire to marry. She asked Alastair if he would father her child, and he agreed. Together, they had triplet girls Annora, Moira, and Adira. Alastair, though he didn’t live with them, remained a loving father and frequently visited, continuing to share adventures and his wisdom with Merida and their daughters.
Annora
Annora has inherited Elinor’s elegance, always composed and calm, even in high-pressure situations. As a "proper" princess, her regal appearance commands respect from those around her, and she carries herself with graceful authority, never straying far from the customs and traditions of her heritage.
From Alastair, she has inherited a love for the arts and intellectual pursuits. Annora is an accomplished musician, painter, and writer. She is very educated and knowledgeable, often admired for her intellect and quick wit. Like Alastair she is skilled at resolving conflicts with words rather than force. Her ability to empathize with others and find common ground is her greatest strength.
While she respects and upholds many of the traditional customs of her heritage, she remains open to new ideas, particularly those that challenge outdated norms. This open-mindedness, influenced by her mother’s defiance of societal expectations, makes her a bridge between the old ways and the evolving future.
Annora is confident and she can be a bit stern, especially when she needs to take control of a situation that might go wrong, but her kind and caring nature always shines through. Annora is deeply compassionate and loyal, always ready to support and care for her family and friends. Despite her elegance, Annora has a playful side that emerges when she's with her sisters, Moira and Adira.
Overall Annora's personality is a blend of seriousness and lightheartedness. She is a unique harmony between traditional elegance and progressive thinking. Her composure and responsibility are balanced by her playful spirit and deep compassion, making her both a poised leader and a loving sister.
Moira
Moira is the creative and daring type, always brimming with energy and an adventurous spirit. Kind and caring at heart, she has an innocence about her that makes her a bit naive at times, but her quick wit often pulls her through tricky situations. Much like her mother, Merida, Moira loves riding her horse, practicing her archery, and wandering around the forest. She has a love for exploring her surroundings and finds joy in the simplest moments.
On her adventures she always brings a sketchbook along with her capturing the beauty of the landscapes before her. She is very talented at drawing. While she is free-spirited and energetic, Moira also has a deep appreciation for traditions, enjoying the stories and customs passed down to her and finding beauty in the rituals of her heritage.
Daring and brave, she’s never one to back down from a challenge and has a fiercer edge that shines through when the moment calls for it. Despite her boldness, Moira remains playful and lighthearted, often bringing joy to those around her with her adventurous tales and enthusiasm.
Adira
Adira is a bold, brave, daring, courageous, stubborn, rebellious, and headstrong girl. She is a whirlwind of energy and adventure, embodying a wild and free-spirited nature. She is always seeking the next challenge and is never content to sit still. Unruly and loud, she often stands out with her tomboyish demeanor, never shying away from getting her hands dirty or chasing the next thrill. Her impulsive nature makes her quick to action, sometimes without thinking, and she has a short temper that flares up easily, especially when things don’t go her way.
While her brashness can come across as slightly selfish at times, Adira has a kind strong heart, always determined to prove her strength and capability. Despite her kind heart her raw strength, pride, and stubbornness give her the potential to be a fearsome force. She harbors a competitive drive to be the best, and her frustration with limitations or challenges can turn into a dangerous hunger for power if left unchecked. Adira knows she has the potential to become someone feared if she allows pride and anger to control her actions. Yet, what keeps her grounded is her deep love for her family and fierce loyalty to her sisters.
Much like her mother, Adira is skilled at archery, an activity that she loves doing. She shares a playful side with her sisters, often keeping things light-hearted, though her hyperactivity can make her difficult to keep up with. Despite her strong-willed and unruly personality, Adira’s bold spirit and boundless energy make her a force to be reckoned with, always keeping her family on their toes.
For those who want more information about Alastair here is his personality
Alastair is a gentle, intellectual, and somewhat rebellious young man. He is stubborn when it comes to his deeply held beliefs and principles, yet he expresses his defiance in a calm, measured way, never raising his voice but standing firm in what he believes in. Although he doesn’t fit into the traditional male role of his society, he holds a deep love for customs and traditions, appreciating the beauty in heritage while rejecting the rigid expectations others place on him. His passion lies in the creative arts—painting, drawing, sewing, writing poetry, and playing music are his favourite pastimes, all of which are often considered feminine to others.
Despite his graceful demeanor and refined manners, he is no stranger to adventure. He enjoys riding his horse, exploring the countryside, and allowing his curiosity to guide him to new discoveries. Always diplomatic, he is quick-witted and wise, keeping a calm head in dangerous situations and resolving conflicts with reason and understanding. Loyal and compassionate, he listens carefully to others, remaining open-minded and kind, no matter the circumstances.
Beneath his calm and elegant exterior, he has a playful, adventurous side, enjoying lighthearted moments and spontaneous exploration. His sharp intellect, combined with his caring and graceful nature, makes him both an unconventional man and an admirable one.

Test Run
Fandom: rotbtd | Characters: Merida, Rapunzel, Hiccup, Jack Frost
Prompt(s): Merida, Favorite AU
Word count: 1851 | Warnings: None | Read on AO3
Summary: While giving her new gear a test run, Merida nearly dies and winds up meeting several budding heroes. Some more impressive than others.
Author's Note: I wrote this for the third week's prompts of the 2023 Big Four Fest, which were Merida and Favorite AUs. My favorite au is a very specific one by lucidorange on tumblr, and it's based around the larger superhero au. Unfortunately, the creator of the au deleted their tumblr account a while back, so everything I know about the au is thanks to the wayback machine and reblogs of the comic. (You can find part 1 here)
I tried to give the triplets more unique personalities while still staying in line with the au versions. I hope you enjoy!
---
Merida DunBroch, daughter of the wildly successful owner and CEO of DunBroch Technologies, Fergus DunBroch, was doing her homework.
Or, that’s what she was supposed to be doing.
In reality, she was perched on a flat roof thirty stories up, the lights of the city shining like stars below her. It was beautiful, and the wind gently caressing her face only added to the serenity. Unfortunately, it was currently being ruined by multiple voices jabbering in her ear. Tuning back in, she found that they were still going on about features and safety and blah, blah, blah. Pretty much everything she didn’t care about.
“—and if you notice sparks, tell us immediately and drop the—”
“If you’re done yapping,” she interrupted, grip tightening on her bow, “I’m gonna take this gear for a spin now.”
“Be careful,” buzzed one of the three nearly identical voices in her ear. Her amazing sister-senses told her it was Hubert. “This is just a test run — we don’t know if there are any glitches with the suit or bow.”
A second voice — Hamish — piped up, “Not that there will be any, considering we made it.”
“Don’t encourage her,” Harris broke in.
Merida rose, a wolfish grin spreading across her face as she looked to the ground below. So, so far below. “When have I ever needed encouragement?”
Three matching groans reached her ears, but she barely heard them over the rush of wind as she stepped over the edge—
And started free-falling.
All she could hear was the roaring of air in her ears as it whipped strands of hair out of her ponytail and stole the breath from her lungs. Her gut was long gone, left behind on the rooftop. The city lights pulsed brighter, getting ever closer. To most this would be a nightmare. But to her…to her it was exhilarating.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Grasping an arrow from her quiver, she drew her bow, changing the setting to “Zipline” with a flick of her thumb. Ah, the beauty of having genius inventor brothers. Aiming for a nearby building, Merida fired.
And was promptly disappointed.
Yes, the arrow flew true, arching through the air with the precision only a master could give, but it did so without the intended zipline attached. Leaving Merida still falling to her doom.
Okay, so maybe she should have checked that feature before jumping off a building.
A lump of panic rose in her throat. “Uh, guys?”
“Don’t tell me you’ve already broken it,” came Harris’s response.
Oh, she was never going to live this down, was she? “I, uh. Might be about to die.”
There was silence on the other end. All at once, her brothers’ voices came pouring over each other in crackling mayhem.
“It hasn’t even been five minutes—”
“—You are so irresponsible—”
“—More inheritance for me!”
Gritting her teeth, she was about to cut through their chatter when something soft and golden wrapped itself around her waist and promptly yanked her to the side. She was no longer falling, but being swung like a pendulum. Grabbing at the fabric that led away from her waist into the dark of the night, she realized it wasn’t fabric at all. It was thousands of strands of golden hair.
What in the bloody hell…?
A moment later she was dropped — surprisingly gently — onto another roof, much lower than the one she had originally been on. The hair loosened and fell away, disappearing in a flash.
“I don’t know what happened,” said a voice from the shadows, “or what you’re going through, but killing yourself isn’t the answer.”
Merida sprung to her feet, narrowed eyes scanning her surroundings. It seemed to be the roof of an apartment building, with a box-like entrance to a stairwell in one corner. And yet, no sign of whoever had— wait, there! There, in the shadows of the entrance, was a girl, parts of her golden hair somehow still managing to gleam in the dark, giving away her position.
Her hair…
Calling it long would have been an understatement. “Long” gave the impression that the hair went down to her waist, maybe a little ways past. But the mass of yellow didn’t stop there. It went to her feet, and then continued off, spilling over the edge of the building like a waterfall of spun gold.
“Are you okay?” The girl asked again, her voice just as soft as her hair had been.
“‘m fine. And I wasn’t trying to kill myself.“
The girl stepped out of the shadows, confusion making furrows in her brow. They looked out of place, and Merida had the sudden urge to smooth them out. “Then what were you doing?”
“Testing out my gear.” She motioned to herself and the bow that was still in her hand.
The girl’s green eyes lit up with understanding. “Oh! You’re like me then!”
“Like you?”
“Yeah, you know. Superhero, vigilante, whatever you want to call it.” She flashed a grin, bouncing on the balls of her feet. “This is so cool! I’ve been working alone for so long — well, not really alone, I mean I’m technically working alongside the police but that’s nothing like having an actual partner — not that you’re going to be my partner, I didn’t mean to imply—”
“Whoa, slow your horses!” Everything was suddenly falling into place, from the freaky hair to the large purple crown perched on the girl’s head. “You’re Swift, aren’t you? The vigilante people are claiming is running around?”
The girl — Swift — nodded. “Yes, that’s me.”
“I thought you were an urban legend!”
“Nope, I’m real.” The smile on her face grew ever wider. “And so are you! Ohhh, this is so cool!”
Despite herself, Merida could feel one of her eyebrows raising. This was…not how she had expected her first meeting with a vigilante to go. Granted, she had never really thought about it before, but Swift had a strangely innocent demeanor about her. She wasn’t remotely hardened or threatening.
Three loud beeps sounded from Swift’s pocket. She withdrew what looked to be a burner phone and grimaced at whatever was displayed on the screen. “Sorry, I gotta go. There’s a fire downtown and a…dragon?” She squinted at the screen. “I think that’s a typo.”
Merida perked up. A fire and possibly also a dragon? That would be a perfect test run for the gear! Never mind the fact that her original test run had almost ended in her own demise. “Mind if I come with you?”
The look on Swift’s face could only be described as ecstatic. “Of course! But, uh…since you’re having some issues with your equipment, would you like me to carry you? It’ll be faster that way.”
Well, she certainly didn’t want to die or get left behind. “Sure.”
Golden hair came whipping up and around her waist, and a second later she was swinging through the air again. It took all her willpower to suppress a scream. From the way the city was whizzing past below, she had been right to agree to Swift’s offer. She would have been left in the dust long ago otherwise.
Soon the sound of sirens and the sight of orange light licking the night sky reached her senses. As well as…Snow?
A moment later the two of them were safe on the ground outside a burning apartment building, above which was a dark cloud. From the cloud fell a flurry of flakes, killing the fire slowly but surely.
Swift frowned. “That’s…weird. It’s the middle of September.”
Merida’s comm piece crackled to life. “So…are you still there?” Came Hamish’s voice. “I need to know if I won the bet or not.”
She rolled her eyes. “Yes, I’m here.” At Swift’s quizzical look, she gestured to her ear. “‘m talking to my brothers, sorry.”
“Dang it. Wait, are you with someone?”
“Just another hero I met. Turns out that vigilante, Swift, is real.” Merida followed said hero as she ran towards the entrance. “And now we’re gonna stop a—” she broke off at the sound of shattering glass.
The two girls skidded to a halt as a large black bundle landed in front of them. It was metallic, and as it slowly uncurled itself they realized what it was.
It was a metal dragon.
The craftsmanship was astounding. From the textured metal and leather to the glowing green lights that constituted eyes. There was an air of intelligence in them, making Merida second-guess whether it was really insentient or not.
The reason for its previous ball-like state became evident as well. Clutched between its paws — talons? — was a child. Covered in ash and smoke, Merida could barely make out where the kid’s dark skin ended and the gray smudges began.
“That’s the last of them!” Called a voice from above. A moment later a brown-haired teenage boy dressed in black and green landed a little ways away, not noticing the two heroines.
All at once, the fire went out. Instead of flickering flames, the building was now covered in layers of frost and ice.
Merida gawked at the now blue-tinted structure. Just how many super-powered people are running around in this city?!
Swift was helping the dragon move the poor girl to a safe spot for when the paramedics would arrive, acting as if this kind of thing happened every day. And hey, maybe it did. Before Merida could decide what to do to help, another boy landed next to the first, this one seeming to float down with effortless ease. His blue eyes were locked on her as he pulled down his hood, revealing a shock of white hair.
He grinned. “Hey, look at that! We’ve got an audience.”
The Brunet turned, finally noticing her. He flinched, shooting a glare at his companion. “Jack! You said we wouldn’t be noticed!”
“Actually, I said we wouldn’t get in the papers. Big difference.” He was in front of her in a flash, lifting off of the ground like a leaf on a breeze. “That’s some outfit you got there. Who are you?”
Merida pursed her lips. She certainly wasn’t giving this weirdo her name. If she was going to be a vigilante like Swift, she’d need an alias. “Atlas,” she finally answered. “And what are you two supposed to be? Dragon Boy and Frosty the Snowman?”
The brunet made a noise akin to a broken squeaky toy. Jack only smiled wider. “Close. The name’s Frost. And you can call my sidekick whatever you like.”
“I am not your sidekick!”
Merida sighed internally. These two yahoos were obviously just playing around — although the metal dragon was pretty impressive.
“Well, aren’t you Miss Popular,” Harris’s voice rang in her ear. “Just how many people have you met tonight?”
She had forgotten her comm was on during that whole exchange. Great. She turned away from Frost and his sidekick/partner/friend and whispered through clenched teeth, “Shush. I’ll tell you all about it when I get back. I promise.”
“You better. We’re already making popcorn.”

biography:
In a land of legends and lessons, there was a great kingdom nestled in the thick woodlands of DunBroch. A great king and queen ruled this kingdom, a great legacy formed around changing ones fate shortly after. The great kingdom, once on the brink of war between its four clans now forged into one. The lords of MacGuffin, Dingwall, Macintosh flying under the banner of DunBorch, keeping peace within the realm.
As time went on, the queen had a child. And after some more time they had another, which became a trio of anothers. Triplets. Harris, being the youngest one. Being born a prince had it's perks as Harris, along with his triplet brothers, would often play pranks and cause chaos throughout the castle in his youth. As time went on, the princeling's careless behavior provided consequences as peace between the four clans was growing uncertain.
His older sibling not taking well to a suitor from the other clans growing the air of uncertainty, Harris attempts to take fate into his own hands as well, offering to aide their older sibling in whatever was needed to maintain peace. As a result of changing their fate, Harris along with the rest of the triplets were cursed to be werefolk, with the oldest of the three gaining the largest and strongest of the bear's strength and size.
Harris, being the youngest of the triplets, gained the smallest size of the bears. Shortly after, he was taken into hiding by his older sibling where he would attempt to master the werebear's skills until they were just right. As the three remained in exile, they happened upon a golden haired man by the moniker of Goldie Locks. Harris had thought of him as a thief, seeing as their first interaction together left the three bears' home nearly in shambles and porridge eaten. Despite their tumultuous start, Harris enjoys the company of Goldie Locks and now journeys throughout the realm, hoping to gain better control of his shifting each full moon.

Well, Jack is the Spirit of Winter (since around 1712) and a trickster. Nothing tells us that with Merida and Hiccup being the Spirits of Summer (since the 1100s or so) and Autumn (since the 1000s or so) respectively they wouldn't have the DunBroch triplets and the Thorston Quartet (the twins and Barf and Belch) as helper spirits, allowing the eight to meet and cause mayhem and pranks everywhere together. And if you rush me Eugene also joins in as the responsible adult (and being the husband of Rapunzel, the Spirit of Spring [from the late 1700s or so])
Man imagine the absolute CHAOS if Jack, Ruff and Tuff and the triplets met
YES. And now that I think about it, how come there are twins in all the rotbtd movies??
Rotg has Caleb and Claude, Httyd has Ruff and Tuff, Brave has the triplets and even Tangled has the Stabbington brothers!

Hubert hadn't come back to fookin' cursed to shite Swynlake for family dinners and holdin' hands and all that bollocks.
Nah. He came for his brothers.
Over the past year, he'd burned and festered, like a piece of meat turned on a spit. Slow, blistering torture. That's what it was like, bein' away from Harry and Ham, and subject to Armstrong's drunken, aimless tutelage. He'd been angry at them for a period, angry at them for being more boy than man, picking family over truth-- but the longer he was away, the more he understood it. He forgave them. He missed them. Everything he did while away, he did to forge himself into stronger steel, so he could go back and show them he could take care of them both.
Merida and Elinor interrupted all that. So he was more bloody pissed than he'd been before.
But the plan was set. He just had to get Harry and Ham on board.
Here was another chance-- the triplets alone. Hubert had to take each chance as he got it.
"So this is what you lot been up to? Playin' housemaid?" Hubert started in as they went through the ballroom, cleaning up after prom.

Meet the Spider-Gang: The Arachnid Archer/Merida DunBroch
B4+BH6: Into the Spider-Verse AU
Ok people, let’s get this over one last time, okay? My name is Merida DunBroch, I was bitten by a radioactive spider, and for the last two years, I’ve been the one and only Arachnid-Archer. You guys know the rest. A man threatened my family, and I fought him. Saved my Dad, and saved the city again and again. My mum doesn’t believe this is the right path for me, but I didn’t choose this path, it chose me. I was just brave enough to see it.
Merida DunBroch lives two different lives.
On one hand, she's a high school student, talented athlete and archer, older sister to mischief triplets, and daughter of high class couple; Fergus and Elinor DunBroch.
On the other side, Merida is a masked vigilante armed with a bow n arrow who got her powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider. Her super senses and athletic skills give her the strength to protect the city.
Every day, Merida struggles to keep her two lives separate, especially with Elinor trying to shape her daughter into a perfect lady.
However, when a dangerous crime boss known as Mor'du begins threatening her family, Merida has to face a difficult decision on how she could save her family and keep her secret.

Ok but imagine Merida introducing her clam prince friends to the rest of the big four
I feel that Jack would like to mess with them
Jack plays tricks and little pranks on them, making sure to hide behind doors or fly out the window so they can't see him. The triplets help.
The clan boys start go around saying that Dunbroch castle is haunted and of course Merida does nothing to not make them think it isn't the case.
They go to Hiccup and Rapunzel to wine about their troubles, and Jack and Merida think "oh shoot they're gonna spill the beans"
only to watch as Hiccup and Rapunzel start telling the boys about how they must have angered some poltergeist, and they must do some ridiculous tasks to make it go away

For obey me x disney princess, the boys meeting the girls families
The evil queen is on guard cause the boys are gonna hunt her, and the Tremaine family too.
Aurora's parents are wary but welcoming to them.
The sultan is having a fun time with Mammon.
Triton feels an overwhelming power from Levi but having doubts cause of appearance. Meanwhile Ariel's sister are too busy ogling him and Asmo
The Madrigal family is completely shocked at the boys, and even more when they announced that they will adopt Mirabel
Tiana's mom is more than happy share sewing tips with Levi and Asmo.
Merida's parents treat them like the triplets.
The only thing saving them is Cinderella and snow White telling them not to, because neither girl has a murderous vengeful bone in their body. Anastasia is eventually cool with them though. She bonds with Cinderella and Asmo when she falls in love with the baker and they help her out.
Mammon is thriving in Agrabah he doesn't want to leave. He becomes friends with Aladdin. He also gets kinda disappointed when he learns he can't wish for anything from the genie.
Arouras parents are confused, but after Maleficent they understandably don't want to risk the ire of another horned entity from hell. The fairies, however, are oddly more chill about it. Because what is another magical being in a castle full of them? The brothers aren't cursing anyone but each other, so it's fine.
The Madrigals and the Dunbrochs have similar energy in that they both have decent sized families, so adding more isn't going to change the dynamics too much. Queen Elinor and Lucifer get along, and after dealing with hosting all the clans, the brothers are nothing to her. The younger Madrigals are more okay with it than the older ones. Pepa is trying to be nice, but the anxious cloud over her head once they mentioned they were demons says otherwise. Meanwhile Antonio is showing Levi all his animal friends and introducing them by name.

merida is a child of the wild, she always has been. she thrives outdoors and has always been someone that bends the rules. fun is a big part of her personality and if she’s not having it then buckle up. freedom is another. merida really exercises her freedom and hates being put into a box or being bossed around and told what to do.
Additional Notes*
has a strained relationship with her mother, she hasn’t spoken to her in years
strong scottish accent present in her voice – may be hard for people to understand at times, especially when she’s angry.
has triplet younger brothers – harris, hubert & hamish
doesn’t speak bear
Wanted Connections*
friends
ex’s
neighbours
work colleagues
lover/crush
besties
hiking buddies
buds from scotland
people she met while travelling
rich people - her family are rich af and merida has likely met them at past events
Wanted Plots / Plot Ideas*
merida and ____ are friends. neither of them have had much luck with relationships so they decide to platonically begin to hookup. it’s fun to explore and get experience with each other without all the expectations and pressure. however, they both start to develop feelings over time, and both assume it’s unrequited.
here one day, gone the next - a previous international relationship where merida was travelling and lived for some time she met _____. the relationship was all consuming and full of sparks, but eventually merida had to go back to scotland a few months later. ______ wanted to try long distance but merida had called things off and was gone the next day. now she’s settled in redwood hollow and look who else is in town, it’s only _____. ((a plot about differences, a whirlwind past relationship, angst of leaving, unresolved feelings and being forced to revisit, relive and resolve said past relationship))
we’re the Old Married Couple™ but lmao no we would never date each other. right? right?????!!!?
before sunrise - strangers meet, they have a connection, but it has an expiration date
“i found your box of letters underneath my bed last night and because i’m a nosy motherfucker i decided to read them and it turns out they were all addressed to me and the last one was dated the day you moved out and i’m not quite sure why i thought this would be a good idea but here i am, standing on your doorstep, wondering why the fuck we’re not together anymore”
an arranged marriage between the dunbrochs & ______ family. but like merida’s clearly being stubborn and rebellious and fucking up because she’s upset with her parents still trying to control her life and it’s just two polar opposites but it could be super cute sometimes when she gets super drunk and he picks her up and hold her hair back when he throws up and stays up to give her a glass of water and make sure she sleeps well even though he has a huge meeting in the morning that he should be resting for, and she makes him lil packed lunches for work and has him dancing in the living room to de-stress and holds court at his works parties winning over his boss to give him that promotion but also the angst and the fights and the ‘i didnt ask for this’ and making each other jealous and sexual tension.
Taken Connections*
tbh all merida’s taken connections have now left the rp so she’s wide open for her to get on the map

Hubert ignored Merida's commentary. It was just going to take him out of focus. That was something he'd learned when slumming around with Armstrong. Idle chit-chat was pointless on a mission like this. Which was just fine with him. Though he could have a loud mouth and was, easily, the most boisterous of the triplets, he took hunts seriously. Just like his da once had.
His da, who was a jolly and friendly man, but also an accomplished hunter. Who could flip the switch from playful to serious in an instant when necessary.
Hubert wondered what kind of switch he'd flipped now. Or if that was just the consequence of whatever dark magic was keeping him alive...or...animated. A shiver ran down his spine at the thought.
"We can hope," Hubert said with a little shrug as he watched the man say goodnight and continue onwards.
"Otherwise...we could just confront him in another shoppe? Might as well...the location doesn't really matter all that much. Especially if he's apparently just...everywhere," he mumbled grumpily.
