Hello there! I’ve just been looking at some of your Tolkien asks for the elves and I thought you were a really good writer, so I was wondering if you’d be open to writing about how the elves would react to finding out their human friend had parents that didn’t get along that well or argued a lot, and just really disliked each other? I don’t even know if they’d even have a concept of that, because elvish couples love once and forever. If you don’t want to write that, it’s perfectly ok. I understand that this is a sensitive topic for a lot of people, but I just wanted to ask :) Regardless, have a nice day!
Warnings: discussion of unstable/unhappy house holds, illusions to abuse/neglect
Note: I’ve included some elves invented for ROP and The Hobbit movies
Note 2: thank you for this request, it led me down several rabbit holes and now I know exactly how fucked up Celebrimbor’s father was
Masterlist
I think the elves understand on some base level that it is possible for parents to hate each other, especially the ones that interact with humans more often like Elrond.
They’re timeless beings after all, who have seen the rise and fall of countless kingdoms of man. They know the propensity for greed and malice.
But it’s always abstract to them the same way true death is.
In the back of their minds they think it must have such an adverse effect on the child that it would be easy to spot.
Some are naive enough to assume that every person that chose to follow Morgoth and Sauron must have had parents who hated each other.
So when you reveal that you grew up in such a household it rocks their shit it startles quite a few of them.
In order from least to most surprised:
Arondir
As a guard of the south lands, he is constantly dealing with humans. He understands, I think best of all those listed, the broad range of dynamics possible in a human household and I’m sad to say he’s probably had to break up quite a few fights between parents.
So when you tell him, he’s rather unfazed. Not to say that he doesn’t care that you grew up in such a household but he knows that it isn’t something some people like to talk about. He offers you a firm squeeze on the shoulder and offers his ear should you ever want to talk about it though.
If you still live with your parents, he makes a point to start watching them more closely. He wants to be ready should he have to do something.
Elrond
Given his past list of parental figures and him being half-human, Elrond understands the best out of Tolkien’s elves. That’s not say his parents were bad but he has the best experience with uncommon households out of the elves on this list.
Younger or older, he approaches your situation with empathy. Similar to Arondir, he doesn’t try to pry but makes it clear that he is here for you if you want him to be. He also offers up a room in his house if you still live with your parents. He goes a step further though to offer a place to stay to any siblings you have as well.
He doesn’t claim to understand exactly what growing up around people like that does to one’s mental health but he is willing to do the research needed to become an advocate for you and for those who grew up like you.
Galadriel
Galadriel as we know her in the books and PJ’s films has the best intuition about the situation you grew up in. She’s incredibly mature and has a cunning to her that isn’t present in the other elves on this list.
Honestly, she might figure out that your home wasn’t exactly happy before you even tell her - catching all those little signs; the hesitation before mentioning your family, the careful censoring in certain anecdotes, or the complete lack of mentioning them. She catches them and puts two and two together.
I’m torn on if she’d ask you directly or wait for you to tell her. The first option wants for tact but I believe Galadriel can almost see the scars on your psyche and wants to help them heal. Regardless, you are always welcome in Lothlorien should the need arise.
Celebrimbor
Despite how low he is placed, Celebrimbor I think has the closest lived experience to you. He’s down this low because he thinks the shittiness of his father is an exclusive trait to him. It doesn’t actually cross his mind that humans deal with awful parents as well so he is quite shocked to learn this about you.
To be fair, we don’t know who his mother is and by all accounts her and Curufin could have had a wonderful marriage but I find this unlikely given his temper.
Celebrimbor understands best of all the shadow that rests on your shoulders - the creeping dread that rests in your heart whenever you hear a raised voice. Celebrimbor is a good person to rant to because he understands the anger the best and while his father may have committed atrocities in the name of avenging his father - he is careful not to overshadow your own tumultuous feelings whenever you do express them. He just listens, adding scathing commentary when needed.
Honestly, you revealing the truth about your own parents relieves him a little - not because you grew up like that but because someone finally understands what it’s like for him as well. None of the other elves get it. But you do.
Arwen/Elladan/Elrohir
So, the reason these three are grouped together is simple - they’re raised by Elrond. They understand the weird direction of their father’s life and he talks openly about its effect on him with all three of them as they grow up. So, they are a prime example of the elves understanding that parents hating each other is a thing that happens, but none of them have first-hand experience with it.
Arwen, to her credit understands the best out of Elrond’s children. I fully believe she inherited Elrond’s foresight and uses it to intuit what she doesn’t understand already. Still, she is surprised to hear about your parents and tries her best to get her head around it. But she is not immune to the “why did they stay together” question. In her defense, she doesn’t expect you to have an answer.
Her brothers on the other hand do ask you fully expecting you to have some wisdom about it that they don’t. Being some of the youngest elves on this list, it makes sense. They’re mature enough to know that they don’t know everything but not mature enough to comprehend that you don’t know everything either.
All three of them have a million questions but try their best not to bombard you with them. They do, however, insist to their father that he help you with housing if you or your siblings should need it.
Lindir
I believe Lindir to be a smart but sheltered elf. We don’t know how old he is so I personally believe he is on the younger side, maybe barely older than Elladan and Elrohir.
He’s bookish and as a result of that he has a very scholarly understanding of the world - so he has possibly read stories about dysfunction households. But I think he believes them inventions of the author. As in, he thinks they are isolated incidents and not unfortunately common truths for the children of men.
He is floored when you tell him. He is good about not bombarding you with questions but he will ask you why your parents married in the first place. Whether you tell him they were in love once or were a political marriage he can only nod slowly as if he understands (he does not, he is so confused). He can only offer to do what he does best - listen to you if you choose to tell him.
Gil-Galad
Gil-Galad is someone who falls victim to his own preoccupations. It never crosses his mind that the attraction patterns of men are different from elves. He’s not so sheltered to think it impossible but it’s like an out of sight out of mind thing for him. He just doesn’t realize it’s a possibility.
In his defense, he does have a lot of things to worry about as high king and unfortunately the interpersonal politics of humans are not top of the list.
But he’s curious when you tell him and he listens attentively. Whether your parents married for social gain, love, or convenience - he asks careful questions about what it was like to grow up in such an environment. He wants to help and after you tell him this, he resolves to find a way to help other humans currently caught in unhappy households. Depending on your relationship with him (I.e. if it’s platonic) he kind of adopts you. He feels like he wasn’t there for you then but he can be here for you now.
Haldir
Haldir’s hard for me to place. On the one hand, as a border guard he has the chance to interact with more humans than a lot of elves on this list. So that should put him towards the top. But I also think he has a rather insular way of thinking. As in his main concerns are for the elves of Lorien and not the travelers he meets which means he might not inquire about their family lives.
Ultimately, I think he is similar to Gil-Galad in the sense that he just doesn’t think about it. If the few men he speaks to on his travels make a reference to a singular parent, he just assumes the other died because he can’t fully wrap his head around the idea that some people have a potentially volatile home life and might only feel close to one parent. Or neither. His immediate assumption is that the reason a human doesn’t mention their parents is because they died. He doesn’t mean for it to be, it just doesn’t cross his mind on its own.
But, he actually talks to you and when you explain to him that no, they stayed married because it was easier to raise you and your siblings that way but they always fought with each other - he is so shocked. His immediate thought is why didn’t they just leave each other, but he tries to puzzle that out on his own. Ultimately, he is very thoughtful about your circumstance and tries to be someone you can vent to when you need it. If your parents are still alive, he offers to accompany you to visit them if you ever need. And he does his best to secure you a safe place in Lorien should you need it.
Glorfindel
Glorfindel is a great elven warrior able to face many things and take down balrogs. He has no idea that childhood can be one of the most challenging parts of life. And I mean that sincerely. Glorfindel is rather oblivious to the affairs of men prior to his fall. His concerns are Gondolin and the safety of his people.
Now he was alive for the kinslaying, so he is not a stranger to violence against kin. But he thinks that the bond between parents and child is almost sacred and not something easily broken. He is sad when you tell him that the children of men are excluded from the idyllic home life guaranteed to the elves.
But he’s also impressed by you. You’re a good, kind-hearted person despite the tension you grew up in. And he thinks that is something to be admired. He devotes himself to helping establish safe homes for children who grew up like you, especially post-fall and him being sent back to middle earth. And he holds up his promise long after you have perished - committing the house of the golden flower to be a symbol of safe haven.
Tauriel
So, Tauriel, I think is the most understanding of the Woodland elves - she’s a guard, she patrols, I have a feeling she comes into contact with the people of Laketown regularly enough to have experienced a variety of family dynamics.
But she doesn’t expect you to have grown up in a household like that. I think because of Laketown’s apparent poverty post the fall of Dale there is a noticeable uptake in crime. And, unfortunately a lot of crime comes from the broken homes of Laketown - youth acting out to escape their parents bickering, parents causing distress to their children and partners, things like that. I think, subconsciously, she associates unhappy homes with unhappy people.
But you don’t fit the way she thinks. You’re sweet and caring and she feels the weight of cognitive dissonance like a shackle. It takes her awhile to reconcile her view of you but she does her best not to let you see. And she’s decently good at it until she starts asking questions. But she listens carefully and starts to look for warning signs in the people of Laketown that they may need help. She petitions Legolas to speak to his farther to offer refuge to those in Laketown that may need it and asks the dwarves of Erebor to do the same.
Thranduil
Thranduil, I think, suffers from some of the most insular thinking on this list. He focuses on the affairs of his elves and pays no mind to the problems of men. It’s how he’s kept his people safe.
Now, I personally, think Oropher was not the kindest father. I think he was stern and hard to please because he expected the best of himself and his people. So, this affects Thranduil’s perspective on parents quite a bit. He may feel that he was unloved at times but he can attest that his father loved his mother even if he was not good at displaying it. His views are skewed to say the least. So he thinks you’re exaggerating at first.
If two people hated each other as much as you claim, why would they have a child together? Let alone stay together to raise that child?
It takes a lot of explaining for him to realize exactly what you grew up in. And when he does, he feels awful for not believing you. He’s not the best at apologies but he tries to make up for it by extending his services to Laketown. He does eventually find it within himself to apologize to you, directly. And asks that you help him understand.
Legolas
He is gobsmacked. Genuinely, so shocked. I firmly believe that Legolas is one of the youngest elves on this list and as a result he still has some maturing and learning to do.
If this is during the fellowship, he has to ask Boromir and Aragorn if you’re telling the truth - that two people can stay together whilst hating each other. And that it’s common amongst humans. He then gets to learn about Boromir’s childhood as well.
His heart breaks a little. He wants only the best for the people he cares about so he’s saddened and angry to hear the pain in your voice even if it. Is well hidden. He promises, as your friend, to never let you be reminded of your family’s pain. It’s a naive promise but one he means full heartedly.
Note 3: thank you so much for this request, it was a much needed break from King’s Herald and actually helped me solve a plot hole I got into. And thank you for the kind words, I’ve been worried my writing’s gotten stale but hearing that people enjoy it helps me to work out of those funks. Thank you so much.

Hi, love the works!
How would the elves react to a highly logical scientist reader. Like, never change out of their lab coat. Wears the same thing every day to not waste time and energy on choosing an outfit, is never not calm, because lashing out is "a waste of mental energy".
I've been thinking about this for a while, and would like your thoughts!
Have a nice day!

𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐧
✧ When you get to Rivendell the first thing you do is rush to Frodo’s side - checking he’s ok and thanking the healers.
✧ The second thing you do is take in the beauty of Rivendell, eyes going wide as you see the home of the elves in all its splendour.
✧ He’s walking with you and showing you Rivendell, eyes lighting up almost as much as yours when you see the sights - except the light in his eyes and the smile on his face come from your happiness.
✧ Taking note of what makes your eyes shine brightest, he begins to tour more specifically with your preferences in mind.
✧ As you turn around to express your love of something, he realises he’s too focused on trying to capture every inch of your beauty - especially while being in awe like that - that he misses the question.
✧ Aragorn hopes he isn’t blushing too much when he asks you to repeat the question, this time quickly answering it to the best of his abilities.
✧ The next room captures your attention, and Aragorn instinctively goes back to watching you and laughing with you before he realises what he’s doing.
✧ It’s then he realises the blush on his face isn’t because of embarrassment - but because he likes you.
𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐬
✧ Legolas is enjoying his time in Imladris, with one of the greatest things being the company. There is you, of course, and the rest of the Fellowship - but it is also nice to spend some time with fellow elves (who aren’t his subjects).
✧ Or, almost fellow elves, such as the sons of Elrond. He has always been intrigued by them, not just for the heritage, and it’s good to spend time with the two. Eventually, in a conversation with Elrohir, the topic finally comes up.
✧ “What is it like, living with Lúthien’s gift?”
✧ “Gift?” Elrohir looks at the elf, “Most call it a choice. Is there a reason you ask? A… someone you ask for?”
✧ His immediate reaction is to say no, and that he is just curious, but then he thinks harder. Is there someone he would stay on Middle Earth for?
✧ As he thinks, an image of the two of you - bow in your hand and grinning at him, bathed in sunlight - comes into his mind. And his mind subconsciously answers the question. If you would have him, he would answer yes.
✧ The elf stays silent, and Elrohir gives a knowing look, before speaking briefly. Offering some advice, and congratulating Legolas on at least figuring out his feelings.
𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐨
✧ Frodo realised he liked you from just about the second he laid eyes on you - you were unlike anyone he had ever known, and that excited and fascinated him.
✧ He expected the crush to go away, eventually, once the novelty wore off and you were known to him as a friend.
✧ Except it never did. With every new smile he saw from you, every word, every laugh falling from your lips - he slowly became more and more enamoured by you.
✧ It was after yet another night that you’d come round for dinner, it was becoming a regular (and welcome) occurrence that he truly realised he didn’t just have a crush.
✧ Frodo was in love with you.
✧ When he’d finally closed the door, watching as you’d walked away, he could still feel the red on his cheeks - and could see the knowing smile Bilbo gave him when he’d turned around.
✧ Patting him on the back, Bilbo had given the young hobbit words of support and encouragement - a twinkle in his eye as he hinted this love may not be unrequited.
𝐒𝐚𝐦
✧ Sam had seen you in and around the Shire a few times before, stopping briefly to look at you before going back to what he was doing.
✧ At first he’d thought it was just him being observant, until Pippin had been over and pointed out that of all the hobbits in the Shire - he’d only stop to look at you.
✧ He was mortified to realise what he'd been doing, and had thrown himself back into his work with much more vigour. Trying to stop himself from being distracted, again.
✧ It works ok, but while in the Green Dragon Pippin assures him that the comments weren't meant in a bad way, and that they were all glad Sam had 'found someone'.
✧ Sam almost isn't sure what they mean, until he thinks back to all the times he's seen you - the times he's blushed. The very small interactions you two have had, that have then lightened his day.
✧ It's thanks to Pippin's teasing he realises he has a crush on you, and then thanks to Frodo when he can finally interact with you.
𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲
✧ Merry realised he liked you from the second he laid eyes on you.
✧ And not in a silly, young-hobbits-in-love type of crush - but something that reminded him of the story books he'd read as a child.
✧ The ones that said when you met the one for you, you'd feel sparks like Gandalf's fireworks and you'd just know.
✧ He did just know, taking the first opportunity he could to talk to you; talking to you felt even easier than most, as though you were a lifelong friend and not just a stranger.
✧ Every time you make eye-contact, he searches in your eyes for the spark he so clearly feels in his - and when he makes you laugh for the first time he's delighted to see it appear (however briefly).
✧ Each passing day cemented this feeling even more, but he still believes it was love at first sight (for him at least).
𝐏𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧
✧ When the two of you first met, Pippin thought you were an angel (an opinion he still holds, in some regards). The second he realised you were of Middle Earth, he also realised he was blushing like a fool.
✧ He knows the attraction isn't just superficial from the day he meets you, but he also sees it as a crush at the start.
✧ And then he starts to spend time with you.
✧ You make him laugh, he makes you laugh. He makes you smile, you make him smile just by being there.
✧ It's also at this time when he realises that what he feels for you isn't just a crush.
✧ He likes,  no - loves, every part of you. And to call it simply a crush would be an insult to his heart.
𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐫
✧ Like a lot of the soldiers of the White City, his spirits are high as he watches from Osgiliath, eagerly awaiting the return of the rangers, if only for a little while.
✧ Most of the men are looking forward to the night of celebrations and drinking, although some are more looking forward to seeing their loved ones come home.
✧ Boromir is looking forward to seeing his little brother come home - but he isn’t just looking forward to seeing his little brother. Faramir isn't the only one he dearly misses.
✧ As Captain, he’s in prime position when the rangers come in; immediately identifying the two of you and going over.
✧ He pulls Faramir into a hug before looking at you with a grin, unsure of what to do before you embrace him as well.
✧ Instantly, he hugs back - just as firm and confident as with Faramir’s hug - but inside he can feel his heart almost beating out of his chest.
✧ The grin is still on his face as he comes out of it, and when you begin to talk his heart calms down, although only a little.
✧ It’s only then when he realises his heart isn’t beating fast around you because you’re nervous, but because he loves you.
𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐫
✧ Faramir knew he liked you from the second he laid eyes on you, even if he was slightly too drunk to realise just how deep it went at the time.
✧ He truly didn’t drunkenly hook-up with people, but he did tend to gravitate towards people he liked. People like you, even when you were in the dark corner. Especially when you were in the dark corner.
✧ And of course, he had kissed you back. The only reason he didn’t try to take it further was because he could smell the alcohol on both of you.
✧ When he had woken up the next morning, he regretted that he had not gotten your name (and the slight hangover).
✧ Then when he saw you, lined up as one of Boromir’s potential betrothed, he could feel his heart do two things.
✧ Skip, at the sight of you again. And drop, at the idea you didn’t love him back.
𝐄𝐨𝐰𝐲𝐧
✧ Staring after Aragorn, Éowyn takes a deep breath, trying to remain calm. From chasing him down, and telling him that she knows looking after the children brings honour (without renown). But she should be allowed to seek honour in other places.
✧ And then she feels a hand rest on her shoulder, calming, as she turns around to see you behind her.
✧ You can see her thought process, and tell her that you aren’t here to override your brother’s - or her king’s - orders. But you are here to give her this.
✧ When you press the sword into Éowyn’s hands, finely polished and gleaming perfectly, she can barely think of the words to thank you before she notices your traditional sword is missing.
✧ Instantly, she realises what you’ve given here and tries to give it back - but you keep it firmly in her hands.
✧ “There are many fine weapons in this armoury. Think of it as my gift to you, for now. A promise that I will be coming back to collect it."
✧ "Besides, it brings me comfort that if orcs get into the caves they shall find a warrior there.”
✧ Taking your hand away from the sword you disappear to follow Aragorn, and Éowyn is left holding it. As she watches the two of you leave together, she realises that she may have fallen in love with the wrong sibling (at least at first).
𝐄𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫
✧ When orcs are spotted within Rohan's borders, in two separate places no less, Éomer immediately takes action.
✧ It's bad luck you're on the second group of riders sent out, and worse when you haven't arrived back when Éomer does.
✧ He tries to reassure himself that it's simply bad luck, and nothing dangerous has happened, but by the second day his nerves get the better of him.
✧ With Éowyn he sets out to wait next to the gate you'll ride in from - a traditional practice.
✧ While waiting, he takes the time to look around and sees who else waits for the riders. When women there bat their eyes at him he ignores it until he realises something.
✧ Éomer is one of the only men there, and the only one not blood-related to the rider he is waiting for. Almost everyone else here is a parent, a sibling, or a lover.
✧ So where does that leave him?
✧ He feels blush begin to rise on his face as he realises precisely which one he is. Or, more accurately, which one he wishes to be for you.
𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐝
✧ Begrudgingly, Bard watches you leave for the final patrol of your shift before laughing as he sees Tilda’s pout when she looks at you going as well.
✧ Looking up at him, she huffs even more; declaring that it isn’t fair he’s allowed to smile while you’re here and while you're away.
✧ He responds that you’re good company, but he can be happy without you - and that’s a good thing.
✧ Then Tilda looks up at him with a doubtful expression. Announcing that he looks extra happy, and his face turns a bit red like when Bain had that fever one time. Or when Sigrid looks at the neighbour's kid, except she shouldn’t tease her sister about that because it’s ‘feelings’.
✧ As pleased as Bard is that his children are taking his lessons to heart, he’s less pleased about her observations.
✧ Keeping walking, Bard tries to reassure her that that’s not what’s going on with him and you - but internally he’s truly thinking about it.
✧ About the fact you’re the first person to make him smile like that for the first time in… a while.
✧ The fact he always lets his kids go up to you because then he can talk to you, and the fact he talks to you even if the kids aren’t with him.
✧ It’s then Bard realises that, somehow, his children have worked out he likes you before he has.
𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐢𝐥
✧ Thranduil had barely noticed that the biweekly meetings had become less formal, and more about the two of you spending time together.
✧ He hadn’t noticed that most of the time you spent talking was just about the two of you, and no longer about his son.
✧ The thing that made him notice just how special these meetings became was when, while watching you leave, he could feel his smile.
✧ There was a warmth in him that wasn’t just from the wine, or the fireplace, and instead a warmth because he felt comfortable.
✧ Around you, he could be himself. Not much changed, of course, but something about being near you felt freeing, and as though he was understood.
✧ A feeling he had not felt in a long time, but a feeling he nonetheless welcomed - especially when it was you that warmed his heart.
𝐓𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐥
✧ Both of you had managed to get into the royal guard - you getting into the king’s guard, while she began to work with the prince.
✧ It was while she was taking a break, eating in one of the soldier’s halls, when Alinar (a fellow guard) had come up to her with a grin. “So, you and them, right?”
✧ Trying not to sigh, Tauriel gave a quick answer that no, she was not interested in the prince before Alinar began to laugh. Explaining he hadn’t been teasing about her and Legolas, but her and you.
✧ “Anyone with eyes can see you look at them like they’ve got a fourth elven ring, Tauriel. You’re really not subtle.”
✧ She continues to deny, swatting him away, although this time it’s more on principle. Not because she doesn’t like you.
✧ Because… she does look at you that way. You are magnificent, and wondrous, and she does want to be more than your friend.
✧ As you walk into the hall, you look over to the empty space besides her and immediately come over - and she wonders if she normally blushes this much when you smile at her.
𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐫
✧ Staring at the new poems he’s written, Lindir wonders to himself when his inspiration went from nature and the Valar to… love.
✧ He can still recognise the work as his own, the same metaphors and adoration for his subjects, but he never considered writing romance. Or writing about someone romantically - because he knows that all his works have a muse.
✧ Re-reading the lines over, he tries to imagine the different elves of Imladris fitting into this prose but none of them do.
✧ Deciding to leave it for later, Lindir takes the scrolls and keeps them with him - resolved in going to the library.
✧ On his way there, you cross paths with him - immediately smiling and asking how his day was.
✧ It’s there, looking ethereal against the backdrop of Imladris and roses, that Lindir realises the subject of his new writings.
✧ You are his new muse.
𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐫
✧ Haldir had felt a spark from the first moment you had interacted, your bow drawn - placed in front of your allies and standing as though it would need a thousand warriors to fell you.
✧ These feelings hadn’t even gone away as you let the arrow fly, only afterwards realising he’s not a threat and batting it out of the air.
✧ When you start to apologise he easily stops you, stating that it’s a relief that the Fellowship is travelling with a skilled warrior like yourself.
✧ Watching you go to the Lady Galadriel, he tries to untangle what he’s feeling for you. Is it simply admiration? Or is it something more?
✧ Seeing you alone and clearly wanting to move, he approaches you after the meeting - offering to show you around Lothlórien.
✧ It’s for a somewhat selfish motive, as he wants to try and realise what his feelings are.
✧ And, as his heart seems to lift when you look around and finally seem happy, he understands what his heart wants.
𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐧
✧ It’s the day after their birthday, finally in their first century, when Elrohir wakes his brother up by poking him.
✧ Elladan is still sleepy, but he’s aware enough to ask what his twin thinks he’s doing.
✧ “I want to know why you didn’t confess, brother dearest.”
✧ The sing-song voice is annoying, but Elladan still gives the question some thought. Confess? About what? Or confess to someone?
✧ Seeing his brother clearly isn’t going to get it, Elrohir lets out a sigh before directly name-dropping you. He’s instantly rewarded with seeing a heavy blush, before poorly spluttered denial about you simply being a friend.
✧ Looking directly into Elladan’s eyes, he speaks again. “Brother, I have watched the two of you dance around each other for almost a century. Sometimes I think I’m the one suffering because of your love. You could at least acknowledge your feelings to yourself.”
✧ He can still see the blush on Elladan’s face, obvious against his hair. But he can also see acceptance and realisation in his brother's eyes. The realisation that he wants you as something more than a friend.
✧ “Took you long enough.”
𝐄𝐥𝐫𝐨𝐡𝐢𝐫
✧ Elrohir was never sure if he believed in love at first sight. It was never something discussed among the elves, where feelings tended to develop over years of emotional connection. But it also seemed like a real thing to mortals - and not just in the tales of old.
✧ As a son of Elrond, where did that leave him? Would his feelings come after decades with a lover, or from a glance across the forest?
✧ And then you arrived.
✧ Instantly, something skipped in his heart - and he felt almost exactly what he’d always thought true love would feel like.
✧ But it wasn’t quite the blazing fire that some of the tomes described, more like a spark.
✧ Then he met you again, desperately trying to do the best you could to keep your city safe. And then again in Gondor’s war council, fearlessly pledging your allegiance to the new king and winning over others with honeyed words and promises.
✧ It was then when his heart was set on you.
✧ So, not quite love at first sight, it had taken a little more time for him to be completely sure.
✧ Yet he was still completely enamoured by you, at the latest, by at the end of your third meeting.
Hope you enjoyed! So sorry this is late, I had it completed and then forgot to post it - was just sitting in my drafts. Soo... yeah, I am very sorry about that. Thank you again for your support! Requests here.

He loved only her
No one in particular, just an elf from the universe of J. R. R. Tolkien. Elf x f!reader
In the ancient forests of Middle-earth, where tall trees concealed the sky, there lived an elf. His people were as eternal as the forest itself, and their hearts were rarely clouded by mortal emotions. But one day, he met a woman—a simple, human, mortal woman. There was something about her that made his heart beat faster: her beauty, which could neither be captured by the finest poets nor sung by the greatest musicians, her mind, so unlike that of other humans, filled with thoughts, ideas, and philosophy, or her eyes, in which one could drown if they gazed too long. It was something he could not understand, but this only made his love grow deeper.
"Cormamin lindua ele lle"—he always wanted to tell her that his heart sang at the sight of her, but it was not the right time, not yet. From the moment of their first meeting, he sought her out and waited for her in this forest every day when the sun's rays gently touched the ground, filtering through the thick foliage.
She told him about her world, about the brief lives of humans, about how they lived and died, dreaming and suffering.
"Lle naa vanima,"—he blurted out one day, not even realizing when he had said it: "You are beautiful." "What did you say?"—fortunately, she didn't understand his words, and that saddened him. It was not enough for him to meet her in the evenings; he longed to extend their conversations, to stretch them out for an hour, two, or forever. He listened to her stories, captivated not by the words themselves but by how her voice filled the emptiness in his soul. Without her, he would never have known the need to fill it.
"Tua amin!"—But did he need help? Did he need to be saved from her? Honestly, no, he was ready to drown in her eyes, ready to die if only to meet her once more. He was ready for anything...
But the Elf did not know how to tell her about his feelings. He understood that the time she gave him was limited, and each moment with her was precious. But how could he explain this? How could he tell her that his heart, which had always been eternal and free, now belonged to her? "The more you love someone," he thought, "the harder it is to tell them." "Nin lithiach, Meleth nín"—she truly enchanted him every time he saw her, even in his thoughts. His beloved. "Guren mil gaim lín"—his heart was in her hands—"Tessa sina ten’ amin"—he asked her to keep it, but in truth, she was free to do with it as she wished, as long as it was her.
And she accepted him. She had loved him too, ever since then, but she understood that it would be difficult for him; her life was short, and what would happen afterward, when she left him? She was ready to weep over such a truth. "Amin uuma malia, Arwen en amin"—it didn't concern him. Being with her and having her even for a moment was already enough. The chance to call her his—that was his happiness. His Lady, who ruled his heart and mind.
As the years passed, she began to talk more often about parting, though it pained the elf to hear it, he couldn't disagree. "When the day comes that we part," she said quietly, "if my last words aren't 'Amin mela lle,' you'll know it's because I didn't have time." In those moments, he remained silent, lost in thought, unable to find the words to express that his love knew no bounds of time. "Meleth e-guilen, my love is selfish. I can't breathe without you,"—she was the love of his life. How could she speak of them parting, not seeing her, not inhaling her scent in the mornings, no more afternoon conversations about books, about how Ellen had messed up her work again, no more seeing her smile, or those gentle eyes full of love for him... "Aa’ lasser en he coia orn n' omenta gurtha!"—Let the leaves of her tree of life never wither, he prayed. Just a little longer, he wasn't ready yet, but how could he stretch this time?
But when the fog enveloped the forest, and the cold wind brought with it a premonition of farewell, the elf finally spoke what was in his heart. He took her hand and said: "I was destined to live a thousand years, and I belong only to you for all those years. If we were to live a thousand lives, I would want you to be mine in every one of them." She looked at him, and a tear glistened in her eye. She knew their time was running out, but these were the words she believed in more than anything in the world.
For the elf's love was as eternal as the forest itself, and he continued to love, despite their parting, carrying his feelings for her through the years and ages of his life.
"Cormamin niuve tenna’ ta elea lle au’"—My heart will wait until it sees you again. "Le me ithon anuir"—I will love you forever. "Quel kaima"—Rest well.

Legolas, would react to the human quirks
Friendship bracelets
𖧧 Legolas, upon receiving your friendship bracelet, would tilt his head, perplexed but intrigued. The concept of such a simple human gesture would be foreign to him, though he’d try to hide his confusion. He would smile faintly, admiring the effort you put into it, and gently accept it. “I… thank you,” he’d say, his voice soft, unsure of how to fully express his gratitude. But before he could add anything further, you surprise him by handcuffing him to you, metal cuffs clicking shut with a solid sound.
𖧧 His brows furrow in immediate bewilderment as he glances at his wrist, then at you. His long elven fingers gently trace the cold metal, trying to process the meaning behind this peculiar gesture. For a moment, Legolas remains still, clearly not accustomed to the idea of being physically bound in this way. His instincts tell him to remain calm, but the discomfort is evident in his eyes.
𖧧 “It is… unusual,” he mutters, carefully choosing his words. He’d never been this physically restricted, and while elves value connection, this is a step far beyond their customary bonds. He’d chuckle softly, unable to help himself. “You wish for us to be inseparable, I suppose?” His lips curve into a small, knowing smile, though there’s a hint of uncertainty as he looks at the cuffs, trying to figure out how to move forward with this.
𖧧 His natural grace would make him reluctant to show any sign of weakness, but there’s an endearing vulnerability in his reaction. He’s unsure, but he will go along with it—just for you.
✦•┈๑⋅⋯ ⋯⋅๑┈•✦ ꕤ ၄၃ ꕤ ✦•┈๑⋅⋯ ⋯⋅๑┈•✦
You Burning their tongue on food even though they just said, “This is too hot.”
𖧧 Legolas watches you eagerly take a bite of the food, and though he warned you it was too hot, his gaze lingers with curiosity. His sharp elven senses allow him to notice the subtle moment before you react—your eyes widen, and a soft hiss escapes your lips as you burn your tongue. His brow furrows in concern, but before he can offer further caution, you’re already wincing from the heat.
𖧧 The sound of your discomfort pulls him from his thoughts, and he quickly shifts, reaching for a nearby cloth to offer, his movements swift but gentle. His usual stoic expression softens into a mixture of amusement and worry. “I did warn you,” he says quietly, his voice carrying a light tease, though his eyes are filled with empathy.
𖧧 You’re still fanning your mouth, trying to cool down the sting, and Legolas can’t help but chuckle, a soft, melodic sound that echoes through the room. His gaze softens as he watches you, clearly not used to humans’ more… dramatic reactions to things like food. He’s never been one to burn his tongue—elfkind’s food is often prepared in ways that are gentler to the senses—but he admires your resilience.
𖧧 “Next time,” he adds, gently reaching to brush a strand of hair behind your ear, “perhaps wait just a moment longer before the tasting?” There’s a warmth in his voice, not mocking, but a subtle reminder of the careful consideration elves give to their meals. Despite the playful warning, his care for you is obvious in his every move, even if the moment was a bit amusing.
✦•┈๑⋅⋯ ⋯⋅๑┈•✦ ꕤ ၄၃ ꕤ ✦•┈๑⋅⋯ ⋯⋅๑┈•✦
You Laughing so hard you start hiccupping or snorting as if some sort of animal (pig) or dying animal).
𖧧 Legolas is sitting beside you, watching as you laugh at something he’s said, his expression soft and admiring. His keen eyes follow the subtle shifts in your face, appreciating the joy that lights up your features. But then, as your laughter grows louder, it takes an unexpected turn—your giggles suddenly erupt into hiccupping bursts, followed by a snort that’s unmistakably loud and somewhat… animalistic.
𖧧 Legolas freezes for a split second, his eyes widening as he processes the sound. His elven composure falters for just a moment. He’s never heard anyone laugh quite like this, especially not with such… unique noises. A flash of bewilderment flickers in his eyes, as his mind races to interpret this strange, human occurrence. For a moment, he’s unsure whether to laugh with you or express concern, but then he sees the playful, innocent glint in your eyes, and his lips twitch into a small, amused smile.
𖧧 Unable to help himself, he chuckles softly, the sound gentle and melodic. “I did not expect that,” he says, his voice laced with amusement. His tone isn’t mocking, but filled with a rare, affectionate surprise. Watching you recover, he reaches over, his long fingers brushing lightly against your arm in a gesture of comfort. “You have a very… unique way of expressing happiness.” His voice softens, an endearing tenderness lacing his words.
𖧧 Legolas, ever the observer, studies you with a quiet fascination. The way humans are so unguarded in their laughter is something he finds both strange and beautiful. For a moment, he wonders if he could ever truly understand the depth of human emotion—but the sight of your laughter, snorting and hiccupping all the while, fills him with a warmth he cannot explain.
𖧧 “Next time, perhaps,” he teases lightly, “we could avoid such alarming sounds? Or…” He hesitates, his lips curling into a mischievous smile. “Do you think your laugh could be more… graceful, like a melody?” It’s all in good fun, of course, and he’s thoroughly charmed by the unrestrained joy you bring into his life, quirks and all.
✦•┈๑⋅⋯ ⋯⋅๑┈•✦ ꕤ ၄၃ ꕤ ✦•┈๑⋅⋯ ⋯⋅๑┈•✦
You Forgetting why you walked into a room.
𖧧 Legolas watches you enter the room with purpose, only to see your expression shift into one of confusion as you stand still in the center, looking around. His brow furrows slightly in curiosity as he tilts his head, sensing that something is amiss. He knows the keen mind of humans isn’t always as steady as that of elves, but this moment is still somewhat puzzling to him.
𖧧 You turn slowly, your eyes scanning the room, and he can’t help but notice the subtle hint of frustration crossing your face. It doesn’t take long for him to realize what has happened. With a soft exhale, he steps toward you, his movements fluid and graceful, and places a hand lightly on your shoulder. His touch is gentle but grounding, offering you silent reassurance.
𖧧 “Is it… you’ve forgotten why you came in?” he asks, his voice soft but filled with a quiet understanding. Though elves are known for their sharp minds and memory, he knows that humans, in their unpredictability, can sometimes be caught in moments like this. He has seen it before, but never quite like this—never so endearing.
𖧧 A faint smile tugs at the corner of his lips as he watches you, his eyes warm with affection. “It happens to even the best of us,” he continues, his tone teasing but kind, trying to lighten the moment. “Perhaps… you came in here for something important?” he offers, with a playful raise of his eyebrow. His voice is gentle, coaxing, and his patience unwavering.
𖧧 Legolas stands quietly beside you, his gaze flicking over to the room as if expecting to offer some insight or suggestion. He isn’t quite sure what might trigger your memory, but he stands there, entirely present, offering his company in your moment of forgetfulness. In his mind, it’s a small thing—a brief lapse in memory—but one he finds oddly charming. It only adds to the unique nature of your humanity, something he finds both puzzling and delightful.
𖧧 “I could wait with you,” he says quietly, his gaze softening, “until you recall your purpose.” He offers this without haste, showing that he’s happy to wait for as long as it takes. In his presence, there’s no pressure to rush—just a simple offering of comfort and patience.
✦•┈๑⋅⋯ ⋯⋅๑┈•✦ ꕤ ၄၃ ꕤ ✦•┈๑⋅⋯ ⋯⋅๑┈•✦
You Flipping the pillow to the “cool side” before settling in.
𖧧 Legolas is seated nearby, watching as you prepare for rest. It’s a quiet evening, and the soft flicker of the fire casts gentle shadows across the camp. His sharp eyes follow every movement you make, and as you reach for your pillow, a curious look crosses his face. He’s seen humans do this before—flipping pillows to the “cool side”—but it’s something that still baffles him.
𖧧 His gaze remains on you as you perform this little ritual with such intent, turning the pillow over with a look of satisfaction when the cooler side meets your skin. There’s something so uniquely human about it, so mundane, yet filled with purpose. Legolas tilts his head slightly, intrigued by the simple comfort you seek in this small action.
𖧧 “You do this often?” he asks softly, his voice filled with a quiet curiosity. His tone isn’t judgmental, merely fascinated by the small things that define your habits. The comfort that comes from something so small—so human—is not lost on him. He wonders what it would feel like to be so affected by something as seemingly insignificant as a cool pillow. In his own world, the luxury of sleep is always serene, and the need to find a cooler side to rest his head is unfamiliar to him.
𖧧 As you settle in, Legolas leans back against a tree, still watching you. His mind wanders for a moment, contemplating how humans experience such simple pleasures. His people are bound by centuries of wisdom and deep-rooted connection to the world, but this is something else—something uniquely tied to the fleeting nature of human life.
𖧧 “There is a certain peace in such small things,” he murmurs, almost to himself, but loud enough for you to hear. His gaze softens as he watches you sink into comfort, your own rituals of rest bringing you calm. Though his own sleep habits are different, he admires the little things that make you human—like the quiet satisfaction you gain from flipping a pillow. It’s something so simple, yet it feels meaningful to him, like a moment of serenity in the chaos of life.
𖧧 As you finally settle, Legolas can’t help but smile, a small, fond smile that he doesn’t often let others see. For him, it’s the little moments, like watching you flip your pillow, that remind him why he cherishes this strange, beautiful connection between you.

Elladan, would react to the human quirks
Friendship bracelets
⭒ Elladan’s reaction to the situation would be a blend of mischievousness and affectionate amusement. When you handed him the friendship bracelets, he would have flashed you a roguish grin, clearly excited by the gesture. “Oh? How sweet,” he’d say, inspecting the bracelets with a teasing look. But then, when you suddenly attached the metal cuffs, his smile would widen into a full-blown laugh. “Well, well, it seems you’re more clever than I thought. I can’t go anywhere now, can I?” he’d tease, rattling the cuffs playfully.
⭒ He would tug at the chains with a dramatic flair, then glance at you with a twinkle in his eyes. “You’re quite bold, I’ll give you that. But I must admit, I’m not sure if I should be worried or impressed.” He would lean in, whispering, “Though, I’m not opposed to being stuck with you, if I’m honest.”
⭒ With a cheeky grin, he would then pull you closer, his arm slipping around your waist as he mock-complained, “Now we’re inseparable, aren’t we? How will I ever escape from this torment?” He would dramatically lean back as if to escape but, of course, you would be stuck together. The entire time, he’d be chuckling and making light of the situation. His playful nature would show as he turned the moment into an opportunity to tease you further, saying things like, “I suppose this is the price of your affections. I’ll be stuck with you forever.”
⭒ Elladan would be quick to offer you a kiss on the cheek, his affection clear despite the playful mischief. “I’ll make the most of it,” he’d murmur, his voice softer now, a hint of true warmth beneath the teasing. “Besides, who could resist being bound to you?” He’d wrap his other arm around you, ensuring the cuffs were a mere formality, not a restriction.

You Burning their tongue on food even though they just said, “This is too hot.”
⭒ Elladan would first raise an eyebrow as you burn your tongue, a grin quickly spreading across his face as he watches you react. “I did warn you,” he’d say, his tone light and teasing. He’d chuckle, the sound warm and full of affection, clearly enjoying the way you’re reacting to your own mistake. “You never listen, do you? Not even when I try to protect you from your own mischief,” he’d add, clearly amused but not unkind.
⭒ Leaning forward, Elladan would mockingly gesture to the food, raising his own fork in an exaggerated fashion. “See? I told you it’s too hot.” He would smile brightly, even though there’s a teasing edge to his voice, his eyes sparkling with mischief. If you were pouting or trying to soothe your mouth, he’d soften slightly, giving you a wink.
⭒ “Don’t worry, my Mellon, I’ll take care of you,” he’d say, a playful smirk forming as he reached over to grab some water or something to help you cool down. He’d hand it to you gently but would still continue his teasing. “Though, I must admit, I did enjoy watching that. You’re quite adorable when you forget to listen.”
⭒ elladan would wait for you to settle, his eyes never leaving you as he watches with affection. Once you recover, he’d give a half-hearted sigh, still clearly amused. “Next time, I’ll just feed you myself,” he’d say with mock seriousness. Then, as if to make up for the teasing, he’d offer to share his food, making sure it’s the right temperature this time, his grin turning into a genuine, affectionate smile. “I swear, I’ll keep you safe from your own curiosity.”

You Laughing so hard you start hiccupping or snorting as if some sort of animal (pig) or dying animal).
⭒ Elladan would be utterly delighted by your laughter, his eyes sparkling with amusement as you start hiccupping and snorting like some sort of animal. His initial reaction would be pure joy, a broad grin spreading across his face as he watches you. “By the Valar,” he would exclaim between bursts of laughter, “I knew you were a wild one, but this—this is beyond my expectations!”
⭒ He’d lean in closer, unable to contain his laughter as you hiccup again, the sound so unrestrained that it only makes him laugh harder. “Is this your true form, then?” he’d tease, wiping tears of laughter from his eyes. “A beautiful wild boar in disguise?” He’d give you a playful nudge, clearly enjoying every second of it.
⭒ As you snort again, Elladan would burst out laughing even louder, his mischievous side fully in control. “I can’t believe it,” he’d say, still laughing, “you’re a charming mix of grace and chaos. And here I thought I knew you!”
⭒ Despite his teasing, he would be incredibly affectionate, wrapping an arm around you to steady you while you try to catch your breath. “Ah, there, there,” he’d say, still chuckling. “No need to be embarrassed, my love. You’re just too adorable for words.”
⭒ If you tried to stop snorting or hiccupping, he would only tease you further. “Oh, don’t stop now! I’ll never get enough of this!” But he’d say it with such warmth and adoration that you’d know he was only joking. Eventually, once the fits of laughter settled, Elladan would press a kiss to your forehead, his face still full of amusement. “You’re perfect,” he’d say softly, “hiccups, snorts, and all.” Then, with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes, he’d add, “But I will never let you live this down.”

You Forgetting why you walked into a room.
⭒ Elladan would notice the confusion in your expression the moment you step into the room, pausing as if searching for something. His lips would twitch into a playful grin, and he’d watch you for a moment before asking, “Lost something, my Mellon?”
⭒ When you admit you’ve forgotten why you entered, his amusement would shine through, though not unkindly. “Ah, a classic case of wandering with no purpose, is it?” he’d tease, raising an eyebrow and leaning against the doorframe. “I do it all the time… just not quite so charmingly as you, of course.” He’d step closer, his grin widening. “Did you come for me? Or perhaps you were hoping to find something that I’ve hidden again?”
⭒ Elladan would chuckle softly, his voice low and warm as he gently approached you, his arms opening as if to offer comfort. “It’s perfectly alright,” he’d say, a little more seriously, his teasing tone softening. “I’ll help you remember. If I must, I’ll take full responsibility for distracting you.”
⭒ If you still seemed lost, he’d offer his hand, his eyes sparkling with affection. “Come, let me help you. I’m sure whatever it was will come back to you soon enough.” He would lead you out of the room, his steps light as he softly hums an elven tune, hoping it might trigger your memory.
⭒ Elladan’s teasing nature would never turn harsh; he’d make sure to keep the moment lighthearted. “Perhaps next time,” he’d say with a grin, “I’ll make sure to keep you focused. Though I’m not sure if I should be worried or proud that I can make you forget so easily.” He would ruffle your hair affectionately, enjoying the warmth between you, before offering one last playful wink. “We’ll figure it out together, no matter how many rooms we wander into.”

⭒ Elladan would watch with a mixture of amusement and curiosity as you flip your pillow to the “cool side,” clearly fascinated by the little ritual. His lips would curl into a mischievous smile, his eyes sparkling with affection and teasing. “A bit warm, is it?” he’d ask with a playful glint, watching you settle back onto the pillow. “You know, I’ve heard Elves have perfected the art of always having the coolest side, but I never expected such a peculiar habit from you, my love.”
⭒ He’d lean against the doorframe, arms crossed, clearly entertained. “Is it truly so different, this ‘cool side’ business? Is this the human way of conquering the heat?” His tone would carry a touch of mock seriousness as he watches you, clearly enjoying your simple habit. “I suppose I could learn from you… though I doubt I could ever understand the need for such things when the entire night is cool and perfect in itself.”
⭒ Elladan would watch closely as you get comfortable again, his gaze softening with affection. He would walk over to sit beside you, reaching out to lightly ruffle your hair. “Though, I must admit, it’s charming to see you in your little rituals, even if they’re a mystery to me,” he’d say with a teasing smile. “How many times do you flip it before it feels just right?”
⭒ He’d lie down next to you, propping himself up on one arm to watch you closely, his voice quieter now, full of warmth. “No matter how odd your little quirks may seem to me, I find them endearing.” His smile would soften, and he’d lean in, brushing a gentle kiss on your forehead. “Perhaps I should get you another pillow to flip, just to see how you’d react.”
⭒ As he settled in beside you, his teasing tone would shift to something more tender. “You’re so very human, and yet… that’s what I love about you.” Then, with a smirk, he’d add, “Even if it means I’ll never truly understand the ‘cool side’ of things.”

Elrohir, would react to the human quirks
Friendship bracelets
✧ Elrohir would freeze mid-sentence, staring at the cuffs now locking you to him. His brows would furrow slightly, then lift as a wry smile spread across his face. “This is… quite the interpretation of friendship bracelets, melda.” He’d test the chain’s strength, tugging lightly, his amusement growing with every second.
✧ “You realize,” he continued, his voice dripping with mock solemnity, “that this means you are now at my mercy. Whatever plans you had today are now our plans.” He’d smirk, leaning in just enough to make you squirm.
✧ As the reality of your decision set in, he’d tease relentlessly. “Tell me, what shall we do when you trip over your own feet, dragging me down with you? Or when nature calls, shall we negotiate custody of the key?”
✧ But beneath the humor, Elrohir’s fondness would shine through. He’d squeeze your cuffed hand, his eyes warm. “If this is your way of saying you can’t bear to be apart from me, I suppose I could endure it… for a little while.”

You Burning their tongue on food even though they just said, “This is too hot.”
✧ Elrohir would watch in exasperated disbelief as you bit into the steaming food, ignoring his warning moments before. The instant you flinched, your face contorting as the heat hit you, he’d sigh dramatically and set his fork down, fixing you with his sharp, knowing gaze.
✧ “I just said it was too hot,” he’d remark, his voice laced with mock patience. “Do you believe I speak for my own amusement?” Rising from his seat, he’d grab a glass of cool water, placing it in your hand with a smirk that suggested he was holding back laughter.
✧ As you tried to soothe the burn, fanning your mouth like a madperson, Elrohir would cross his arms, leaning casually against the table. “Tell me, melda, was the half-second of impatience worth the agony?” He’d tilt his head, amusement dancing in his eyes, clearly relishing your predicament.
✧ Still, despite his teasing, he’d step closer, gently tilting your chin to check your lips or tongue for any visible harm. “Next time, perhaps you’ll listen. Or perhaps you’re simply determined to give me new reasons to worry.” His voice would soften, and with a quick kiss to your forehead, he’d add with a low chuckle, “You’re lucky you’re endearing, even when reckless.”

You Laughing so hard you start hiccupping or snorting as if some sort of animal (pig) or dying animal).
✧ Elrohir would be smiling faintly at first, amused by whatever had set you off into a fit of laughter. But as your giggles turned into uncontrollable hiccups and snorting, his brows would rise in surprise, his lips twitching as he tried not to laugh himself. “Are… are you unwell?” he’d ask, his tone half-concerned, half-mocking as he watched you double over, gasping between snorts.
✧ When another hiccup escaped, followed by an unmistakable pig-like sound, he’d finally lose his composure. A low chuckle would escape him, quickly turning into full laughter as he leaned back, shaking his head in disbelief. “Valar help me, what was that noise? Is that… normal for you?”
✧ You’d try to respond through your gasps and hiccups, but every attempt to speak would only result in another snort, setting him off again. “You sound like a wounded animal,” he’d tease, his silver eyes gleaming with mirth. “Or perhaps a piglet who’s lost its way.”
✧ Elrohir would lean closer, resting his chin on his hand, his smirk wide and teasing. “Shall I fetch a healer? Or perhaps a farmer to reclaim you?” he’d quip, his dry sense of humor cutting through your hiccuping fit.
✧ As your laughter subsided into breathless hiccups, he’d press a hand lightly to your back, soothing you as he shook his head in mock exasperation. “You’re utterly ridiculous, you know that? I’ve faced orcs and wargs without flinching, but this—” he gestured vaguely to you—“might be the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen.”
✧ Finally, he’d place his hands on your shoulders, his expression softening as he tried to steady you. “Breathe, melda. Before you pass out and I’m forced to explain to Elladan why you keeled over because of… whatever that sound is.” Despite his words, his lips would twitch, threatening another laugh.

But as the seconds stretched on and you furrowed your brow, his smirk would grow, the corners of his mouth twitching with suppressed laughter.
✧ “Let me guess,” he finally said, breaking the silence. “The great mission you embarked on has already been forgotten?” His voice would carry a teasing lilt, but there was warmth beneath the amusement.
✧ You’d turn to him, flustered, trying to explain yourself, but he’d step closer, tilting his head with mock seriousness. “Ah, I see… it must have been of such grave importance that your mind couldn’t handle the weight of it,” he quipped, his silver eyes glinting with mischief.
✧ When you began to retrace your steps or try to jog your memory, Elrohir would follow close behind, his smirk never faltering. “Perhaps you came in here to admire the fine elven craftsmanship?” he’d suggest, gesturing to the furniture with exaggerated reverence. “Or was it to spend more time with me? If that’s the case, I must say, there are easier ways to accomplish it.”
✧ Once you finally remembered—or gave up—he’d chuckle and take your hand, leading you back out. “You’re lucky I find you endearing, even when your mortal mind betrays you.” Then, with a sly grin, he’d add, “But should you forget me one day, I’ll be forced to remind you every single reason why you love me. Repeatedly.”

You Flipping the pillow to the “cool side” before settling in.
✧ Elrohir would lie beside you, already comfortably settled, when he noticed you fidgeting with your pillow. At first, he’d merely watch in silence, his brow furrowing slightly as you lifted the pillow, flipped it over, and fluffed it with purpose. When you finally laid down with a satisfied sigh, he’d tilt his head, the faintest smirk playing at his lips. “What,” he began in his usual dry tone, “was that curious ritual I just witnessed?”
✧ You’d try to explain the logic of the “cool side” of the pillow, and his expression would shift from mild confusion to amused disbelief. “The cool side?” he’d repeat slowly, as if trying to comprehend this mortal peculiarity. “Does the other side offend you in some way?”
✧ His smirk would grow as you defended your actions, and he’d prop himself up on one elbow, his silver eyes glinting with mischief. “Ah, so the secret to human comfort lies in the temperature of your pillow. Truly, I learn something new every day with you.”
✧ As you attempted to ignore his teasing and settle in, Elrohir would suddenly reach over, flipping his own pillow to the “cool side” with exaggerated flair. Then he’d lean back, closing his eyes with a dramatic sigh. “I must admit, this is quite revolutionary. How have we Elves endured millennia of discomfort without this brilliant discovery?”
✧ Despite his playful ribbing, his tone would soften as he turned to you, brushing a strand of hair from your face. “Only you could find such small joys, melda,” he’d murmur, his voice warm. “And somehow, you make me cherish them too.”

Elrond/Elladan/Elrohir Sleep Headcanons
Pairings: Elrond x reader Elladan x reader Elrohir x reader
Warnings: None
Author’s Note: Another one for the Blanket Series! I hope you enjoy it!
Tumblr media
Lucky for you these elves never saw the light of the two trees therefore you don’t have to worry about being blinded or annoyed by elf light.
Elrond and his family have such a mixed bloodline
And being part human gives them the ability to sleep with their eyes closed!
I repeat, eyes closed! Which means no creepy staring in the middle of the night. Though because they do share maia and elf blood you do have the off chance of waking up to an open eyed stare.
Like when you get jumpscared by that chair that carries all your laundry. But instead of a chair it's an elf.
Elrond:
Elrond isn’t much of a cuddle bug, and usually just sleeps on his back in the middle of the bed like a mummy and the occasional book on his side.
If you want to cuddle up into his side though he’s down for that.
He has horrible nightmares. And when you cuddle up into him he’ll grip your arm in a vice-like grip. Worried that you’ll slip away from him.
He sleep talks.
Always mumbling something in his sleep. Either telling his children to knock it off or scolding Erestor and Glorfindel.
Though occasionally he’ll break your heart and talk to Maglor and Maedhros asking them all the questions his child self never got to ask.
You sometimes have to cry yourself to sleep.
6/10 sleep buddy
Elladan:
Elladan sleep koala’s you.
And by that I mean he wraps his entire self around you. Typically you can’t move.
Both Elladan and Elrohir have an insane fear that you’ll be snatched away in the middle of the night.
So he hates it when you get up to leave him
He tends to snore into your ear though. Thankfully it's not earthquake level snoring, it's just that calming sound you’ve grown accustomed to.
Like a little louder than necessary asmr video.
Though he tends to run a little hot so you only sleep with a sheet covering you usually.
Honestly without all the blankets, sheets, and comforter on me that’d freak me out. It's like opening yourself up to an attack. Like when you stick your foot off the side of the bed.
Elladan is a 5/10 sleep buddy
Elrohir:
Elrohir usually sleeps on his side and prefers the left side of the bed by the window.
So you usually cuddle him as the big spoon with him holding your hand and pulling it to his lips for an occasional kiss.
When you get tired and frustrated with it though and just want decent cuddles from him. You'll climb over him.
He gave you permission though so despite all his grunts and groans from your potential smack downs and kicks. He just wraps an arm around you and pulls you closer.
Most of the time you’ll just snuggle into his chest. Under the blankets and listening to his heartbeat.
He runs at the perfect temperature.
And other than you climbing over him sleeps pretty deeply.
Elrohir doesn’t really snore but his breathing sure is audible.
Overall Elrohir is a 8/10 sleep bubby.

Playing With Elladan's Hair
*As soon as she grasps his hair, he turns around, trying to figure out what she is going to do.
*When she tells him she wants to play with his hair he grins and she immediately knows he is up to something.
*No matter how hard she tries, Elladan keeps moving out of her reach, so that she can’t get his hair.
*After you start to give in, he suddenly pulls her down so that she is sitting next to him on the grass.
*Now he’s the one who’s playing with her hair, inhaling the scent of it and putting it into different types of braids, all the while holding her close.
*Elladan isn’t much of a fan of sitting still for long periods or really any length of time. So instead of allowing her to play with his hair, he’s more likely to sit still while playing with hers.

The elves of Imladris as horses
Tumblr media
Requested by Anon
Hi! Can I request a Imladris elves Horse AU? I love your horse AU :) congrats on the 500 followers!
(I left Glorfindel out since he already has a headcanon. He does get mentioned though. Hope you like it!)
Warnings: some horses being mischievous, Erestor is a grump, some spooky mystical things happening, some falling, biting, wandering off, and mentions of disappearances.
-------------------------------------
- You loved horses when you were young. Those creatures always looked majestic and something out of fairy tales.
- You would never miss a riding class with your favorite pony and sometimes nagged your parents to let you ride a horse. They didn't since you were too small and young to sit on a full-grown horse. They only allowed it when they were the ones riding the horse, and you would sit in front and shriek in delight when they started galloping.
- You were so obsessed with horses that you sometimes wandered in forests, trying to find a mythical horse. It always made your family freak out and scold you not to go alone in the woods.
- You even remember being jealous of your older sibling when they got their own horse.
- But as time passed and you reached your teens, you began to outgrow your horse fantasies and found other interests. Owning a horse and taking classes was quite costly, so you sought something cheaper and an easier career path.
- Your family was quite involved with horses, and most of your older relatives have been horse riders, so it was nearly a traditional thing. However, your family respected your life choices and did not try forcing you to become a horse rider as well.
- Imladris was a famous horse stable where you had spent most of your childhood with your older sibling. You knew the owner and were familiar with most of the horses that lived there.
- It was a lovely place located near mountains and rivers. The forest paths were filled with wildlife and were commonly known for the nightingales that lived there. Riding there felt like the whole forest was singing. It also felt like a home to the riders as to the horses. It is a wondrous place.
- One day, when you were visiting your family. Your older sibling asked you to watch their horse and a couple of others since they were so thin on caretakers and they desperately needed to attend other things in their lives.
- You were on vacation from your current career path, so you agreed.
- Your older sibling was grateful, and since you were familiar with most things you needed to do while caring for the horses. They simply introduced you to the necessary tasks and the other horses that were going to be in your care.
- Elrond, Celebrian, Elladan, Elrohir, Arwen, Erestor and Lindir.
- You knew Elrond since he was your sibling’s horse. You simply adore him. You knew Celebrian since she lived in the same stable, and from what you heard, she and Elrond were technically married. You haven’t met their kids but heard how beautiful they are. The twins are named Elladan and Elrohir, and the daughter is Arwen. You also knew Erestor and that he was a crump. Lindir was someone new to you.
- And with all things settled. You stayed at your family’s house, and your sibling was off to the cruel world of jobs and schools.
Elrond
- Elrond was a beautiful dark brown stallion with a star mark over his forehead. You had heard it was a common trait from his family tree. He was the infamous mare’s Luthien’s great-grandson and even had a twin who lived in another stable named Elros.
- Elrond is a lovable horse, perhaps one of the most gentle horses in the whole existence. He was happy to see you when you showed up at the stable. He gave you a cheerful neigh as a greeting, and it only made you smile as you petted him and gave him a treat.
- It was like you two were old friends, and it was true in a way.
- Elrond was an experienced dressage horse and has done show jumping in the past. Most of the time now, he’s used during riding classes for new young riders to help them get experience, and he’s very gentle with them.
- He’s pretty much everyone’s favorite horse.
- He was gentle with you too when you rode him for the first time. You felt nervous since you hadn’t ridden in a long time, but he was patient and always stopped when you had trouble adjusting your position or the stirrups.
- He’s just so patient, and thanks to him, you gained some experience in riding and became more confident. You finally understood why the younger riders would want to ride him first than any other horse.
- He was easy to clean and seemed to be okay with everything.  You thought there was at least one thing he didn’t like, but no. He didn’t even mind getting washed with water than most horses who would either hate it or be scared of it. On the contrary, he seemed to enjoy taking baths.
- There was one thing he didn’t like – the riding crop.  He would walk away from the sight, which felt a bit strange since your sibling had used a crop in the past till you heard he had some rowdy kids who used the crop violently during classes. He then began disliking it and refused to come out of the pasture or his stall if he saw a crop.
- It was understandable, so you ensured to never bring a crop when it was time for an exercise or a riding session.
- One adorable thing about him was how he would act around Celebrian. The two would always hang out in the pasture and care for each other. The two were like a married couple.  You heard there was once an incident where Celebrian was supposed to move away to another stable but the two caused a fuss and refused to separate from each other, so Celebrian’s owner had to relent and allow Celebrian to stay at Imladris to be with Elrond.
- It sounded like a deep romance drama and you were happy the two were allowed to stay together.
+ 100 / 10 Elrond is a sweetheart. If ‘kind as a summer’ was a horse– he would be it. He doesn’t cause any trouble, and he’s sometimes helpful when you are dealing with his kids. There was nothing negative you could say about him, especially considering that you've known him for most of your life.
Celebrian
- A beautiful white mare with slight silver in her mane. Elrond’s wife and a very adventurous horse.
- You have known Celebrian nearly as long as you have known Elrond. She's affectionate and has an adventurous personality; she enjoys wandering far in her pasture and the woods during rides.
- She’s also the twins and Arwen’s mother.
- You have heard her mother was Galadriel, one of the most beautiful horses from Finarfin’s family tree. This was intriguing since it meant that two horses from well-known family trees came together and produced three lovely foals.
- However, unlike Elrond, Celebrian was troublesome in a way.
- She can sometimes be a little airhead and wander off for long periods. You would either need a search party or Elrond to call her back whenever she goes missing.
- She likes to play a lot on the dirty grounds, so keeping her clean was a workout.
- Sometimes, she likes to tease you during exercises and classes, especially when you are on her back, just to get a reaction out of you. You don’t like it, but at least you learned how to grow stronger nerves and confidence with troublesome horses. She was technically level 2 after Elrond.
- She enjoys forest runs and tends to be a bit dramatic when it comes to work.
- However, she’s soft toward Elrond and would not leave him alone, and she’s very stern with her kids even if they are already grown young horses.
+ 10/10 You like her even if she constantly teases you and gets dirty most of the time. You would appreciate it if she would stop wandering off so much. It’s a real trouble to get her back.
Elladan and Elrohir
- Elladan and Elrohir are two dark horses with brown tones in their mane. They share the same forehead star marking and are one of the rare pairs of twin horses.
- It is a bit surprising since Elrond has a twin too, and there was another pair of twin horses from his family tree. Three generations of twin horses. What are the odds?
- The two are energetic and nearly as troublesome as their mother as they seemed to take it to themselves to test your nerves as well.
- They have a tendency to steal brushes and equipment, and sometimes they steal food from the storage. And they always grin at you after you catch them in their criminal act.
- They like to play with the hose when they are in the pasture and you are trying to refill their water trough. It would get messy, and you would always get wet from all the water they throw around.
- They are not your favorites, and you nearly lose your patience with them every time they are on to their mischief. They sometimes earn a laugh or two from you from their antics. And you think it had become a challenge for them to make you laugh since they would grin after making you laugh.
- You are so glad they never do anything damaging.
- Luckily, they take riding and shows seriously. Elladan specialized in dressage, while Elrohir excelled in show jumping. Sometimes, they even rode together in shows.
- They are pretty tame toward their riders and even the youngest who want to ride them. However, due to their mischievous nature toward you, you do not dare to ride them and let them usually run around together on the field, sometimes making them jump.
- You were not going to risk it with their shenanigans.
7 / 10 You find their antics sometimes funny, but they make you mistrust them. You do not like how they get messy and cause you a headache most of the time.
Arwen
- A beautiful black mare with a similar forehead star like her brothers and father.
- Arwen is a friendly horse. She’s sweet toward you and anyone she meets, but she has taken after her mother and gained a habit of wandering off into the woods and going missing for some time. Luckily, she comes back before nightfall, so she doesn’t cause you a total heart attack as her mother does most of the time.
- It seems that Celebrian’s wandering trait is going to be a recurring thing.
- Strangely, you had noticed that Arwen’s urge to wander into the woods was much stronger than with Celebrian. It might have been a family thing since you had heard Luthien and Elrond’s mother, Elwing, had a strong tendency to get lost in the woods too, so it might not be Celebrian’s trait that was kicking in Arwen.
- It could have also been related to the incident with Luthien’s father, Thingol, and the mystery mare that was never found after he was finally found alone in the woods with his newborn foal.
- You remembered reading about it in the newspapers; it was still a mystery with no logical answers. People assumed it was a wild mare, but Thingol’s owner once claimed strange things began happening around Luthien when she lived under their care as a foal. If the owner of Luthien's father could assert that something was not right, then there was no way the mare could have been just an ordinary wild horse.
- Whatever it was, it was a thing of the past. You just have to keep a watchful eye on Arwen, and things will be fine.
- You two got along well. Arwen was used in riding classes, and the youngsters adored her, but sometimes she was used in vaulting, and you always found it fascinating to watch as her rider and other beginners did complex tricks on her back. You would never dare to do anything like that, especially the flips.
- You have heard she had won several horse shows, and she was considered just as beautiful as Luthien, and the two are nearly a look alike.
- Arwen enjoys it when you bring her on rides through the forest, especially with her family. These riding trips often lead to funny mishaps, such as taking a dip in the river or racing beneath the trees.
- However, you sometimes get an odd sensation of being watched when riding through the forests. It was a spooky feeling, and you do not know why, but sometimes, you think you can see a horse wandering behind the trees or hear its voice. Yet, when you investigate, you find nothing – it's as if you've seen a ghost.
- You shared your experience with Arwen's owner, and they revealed that they had similar incidents in the past. The owners of Elwing and Luthien had also mentioned feeling watched and followed in the woods in the news, hearing what sounded like a wild horse but never finding anything.
- It was so strange that you nearly believed Elrond’s family line was haunted or something. Arwen’s owner commented that perhaps it was the mystery mare watching over her descendants, but that was a too far-fetched theory for you to believe. However… you were never sure.
- One salvation for her constant wandering arrived in the form of a stallion. You noticed Arwen had taken a strong liking toward a stallion named Aragorn. He’s a friendly horse with some past as a guard horse and came to Imladris for retirement, or so you heard.
- Arwen seemed pretty determined to get his attention, neighing, and Aragorn seemed to return the new feelings, and it was like a romance drama upholding behold you. Even though Aragorn sometimes seemed pretty shy around her.
+7/10 She’s a headache on her own, but at least not a bad one like her brothers. Watching her unfolding romance drama is hilarious.
Erestor
- The grumpy old stallion with a dark coat and white socks. He was the definition of being an old man in a horse body. He was a very beautiful horse, but his personality was something to work with.
- He doesn’t give you trouble when it's time to go to the pastures or do his exercises, but he does seem to like to look at you and silently judge you.
- He’s sometimes picky with the food and brushing, and if you end up on the wrong spot, he might give you the back ears and threaten to bite you. He doesn’t bite but takes a rough nibble, which does feel uncomfortable. But he does bite when you try to give him a bath though.
- You first thought he hated you for some reason then his owner told you that’s just his personality.
- They gave you a hint that if you put an online book with a narrator on for him to listen to, he will remain calm and focus on the story while you clean him even during bath times. It was odd when you first tried it but loved it when it worked. Surprisingly, even you got into it and found something you liked with Erestor.
- Before brushing time, you would check on your phone and ask Erestor what he would like to listen to and he would give you a snort of the book he would like to listen to.
- It turns out Erestor can be sweet and agreeable when you share a common interest.
- Erestor has experience in show jumping and cross-country jumping. He was surprisingly calm when you decided to ride him. He didn’t scare anything or try to bite your feet.
- He seems to like taking rides through the forests with other horses. But he will refuse to cross any river unless there is a bridge. You don’t even think he’s afraid of it, he just hates it.
- He is sometimes pretty snappy toward other horses, especially toward one golden-colored horse that once came to visit. Glorfindel was his name you think. He’s pretty rough toward the twins, but Elrond and Celebrian he seems to respect.
-8/10 he’s not so bad once you manage to get past his moody side. Doesn’t cause trouble and you like riding him. Bath time with him is awful thought.
Lindir
- Lindir is a soft chestnut-colored stallion with darker tones on his mane. He was new to the stable, so you didn’t know much about him. You only knew he was older than Elrond’s kids but younger than Elrond, Celebrian, and Erestor.
- He was timid and reluctant to approach you when you started caring for him.
- It was a challenge, but you quickly learned how his moods changed over things. First, he hated getting dirt on his coat, so keeping him clean was relatively easy, except when it was time to wash him after riding sessions. He hated water and made it difficult for you to get the sweat and dirt off his back. He was literally worse than Erestor when it came to bath time.
- He was also picky about the food he ate. He had no problem eating grass and fruits when they were available, but when it came to feeding him any concentrates or minerals – there were suddenly several problems.
- He would refuse to eat if there were too many pellets. He would kick the bucket away if there’s too little of a certain mineral. And he will not even touch the bucket if it's moisturized with water— even if it is good for him.
- You had to contact his owner for details on the food after he refused to eat the food you prepared for three days straight.
- His owner explained that he was quite strict about sticking to old routines and asked you to give him a couple of days to adjust to new things. He would eventually start eating different foods and become more lenient with you.
- His owner also told you to play music on your phone, and he will remain calm during washing times.
- You nearly didn’t believe them till you played some classical music on your phone and watched how calm Lindir turned.
- He was probably a musician in his past life since he focused on listening while you brushed and washed him. He would step away a couple of times but didn’t try running away like usual.
- After that, you made sure to play music whenever it was time to clean him.
- After some days passed, you managed to get past Lindir’s timidness and learned he was pretty affectionate. He got used to other horses and would sometimes bring you flowers and sticks he would find from the pasture.
- He mostly had been on horse shows and wasn’t experienced much in riding.
- He was training to be another dressage horse, and his owner hoped he would get used to children and younger riders in riding classes, but after several incidents with children— he was pulled out from the list of horses for youngsters.
- He grew to dislike children and younger riders, especially after being handled by a few rowdy ones. He would refuse unless there’s an adult to walk beside the kid.
- Lindir also had a peculiar dislike toward ponies.
- You are not entirely sure why, but he has a tendency to avoid them. It could be because the ponies can sometimes be rowdy and wild, but it still remained a mystery.
- He does not have a problem with you riding him, but he sometimes gets easily startled, and you fall from his back.
- You never fall badly or in a way where you injure yourself, but Lindir would feel bad and brood about it for a whole day. It would take his favorite treats, pets, and words of assurance for him to get back to his usual self.
- He is a one peculiar horse.
+8 / 10 He's pretty okay. Washing him is not a funny job, but he's not as difficult as Erestor or the twins. You enjoy listening to music with him, but he sometimes has a picky collection.

Note
Hi op this took me out back and shot me in the head with Glorfindel's bit
Like he?? Regardless of what your relationship was, he loved and respected you so much that even centuries after you're dead his actions are still influenced by your presence in his life? Oh my god my heart I am literally crying. It hits so hard to get reminded that mortal lives have value in the way we affect those around us and change their perspectives, that we can live on eternally through a legacy made in others love for us-
Ooough. I need to take a nap.

𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐧
✧ Aragorn believes in elvish love, so from the moment he confesses he knows that he loves you.
✧ He sees how much he does in everything, from the few dates you can steal in Rivendell, to the smiles you exchange while walking with the Fellowship.
✧ But he’s not sure when to say it, as he knows just how much of a milestone it is. And how much he wants it to mean to you.
✧ Keeps trying to get it in a specific place, a specific time. But every time he just enjoys your company, and never ends up saying it.
✧ You notice his love, however. So obvious in how he’ll stare at you, offer to help with something or simply spend time with you.
✧ Eventually, it happens only a few days before the Fellowship is to leave Rivendell.
✧ The two of you are stargazing together, and he just about hears a yawn you fail to stifle.
✧ Laughing, he moves closer to you and wraps you in his cloak - the two of you cuddling together.
✧ As you rest your head on his chest, and he looks up at the stars, he thinks about how perfect this is.
✧ Gently, he bends his head to be near yours before whispering. “I love you.”
✧ Feeling you look up, he simply smiles when your gaze becomes more questioning.
✧ When you say ‘I love you too’ you can immediately see his grin, and he gently places a kiss on your forehead.
𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐬
✧ When an elf confesses, the idea that they love you - utterly and completely - is an undertone that’s carried with it. It’s Legolas’ unspoken promise to you, as soon as he’d asked if you would court him.
✧ But actually saying it to you is another matter.
✧ He’s not scared, he’s just… a little scared. And a little intimidated. Because he doesn’t want to mess anything up, and he wants what he will give you to be perfect.
✧ So Legolas actually takes a long time to say those words, although you know how he feels about you for a while.
✧ Legolas also confesses just before you leave Rivendell, although his is more planned out.
✧ He spends almost two days beforehand looking over all of Rivendell, in sunlight and moonlight, trying to figure out what place is perfect for you.
✧ What place is worthy of you.
✧ Eventually, he decides on a shaded pavilion surrounded by trees, one that reminds him of Mirkwood. Except here flowers grow all around, and he can focus on being romantic with you.
✧ When he invites you to join him you suspect something, although the sight of your prince surrounded by flowers is still breathtaking.
✧ Waiting until you join him, he tries to hide his nervousness by rubbing his finger over the flowers he’s holding for you.
✧ And then you’re right in front of him.
✧ “I love you.”
𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐨
✧ Frodo first says he loves you when he confesses to you.
✧ (“(Y/n). I know we’ve been friends for a long time now, and I’m very grateful for that. But - I don’t just want to be your friend. I want to be more to you, I want you to be able to love me like I love you.”)
✧ But that doesn’t make his feelings any less genuine, his love for you any less sincere.
✧ When he says those words to you he means it just as much as anyone else, he’s just slightly more in tune with his emotions.
✧ Because he knows you well enough that, as much as he wants to make a grand romantic gesture out of these words, he simply wants to tell them to you more.
✧ (Besides, the sooner he says it for the first time the sooner he can say it again.)
𝐒𝐚𝐦
✧ He’s embarrassed about how he’s going to say it. Not because of you, of course - he knows he loves you wholeheartedly - but because he doesn’t want to mess anything up.
✧ So, to make sure he can properly confess to you, he practises.
✧ What he says changes slightly each time, there are too many good qualities to pick. And although some staples remain it often changes to encompass what the two of you had done together, like how beautifully you look when you smile, or how grateful he is that you’ll help him.
✧ When Sam finally has the perfect time to say what he wants, he realises he’s slightly at a loss for words.
✧ You can tell he wants to say something to you, the way his throat hitches and then he relaxes. Taking a deep breath.
✧ Noticing your eyes on him, Samwise decides that now is the time to speak.
✧ “I- I love you. More than I’ve ever done with anything, more than I do with the Shire, or the flowers out in the garden. Because, you’re the person who truly makes me happy. You’re the person who I can truly be myself with, you’re the person whose smile lights up my heart. The person who knows how to make me feel better, the one I can trust.”
✧ “And, for that. I really do love you.”
𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲
✧ Although he’s overt with his affections, Merry doesn’t immediately say these words to you. He wants to earn them. To prove to you that he is a good boyfriend, and then he’ll be fully worthy of your love.
✧ At least, that’s how he sees it. (And somehow doesn’t see that he two of you are completely enamoured with each other.)
✧ It’s a little after your third date, when the two of you are sitting together and laughing, that he realises he needs to say it.
✧ He waits until the two of you have stopped, with only smiles gracing your faces. But he can’t wait longer than that.
✧ “I love you!”
✧ The admission rings in the otherwise silence, and then he sees you smile. And he realises that he is worthy of all of this.
✧ Merry eagerly leans into the hug, burying himself in your arms before whispering it again, this time with a grin on his face. “I love you.”
𝐏𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧
✧ You actually say it first, while the two of you are walking in Rivendell together. You’re on a more secluded path, and as Pippin asks about your day - and listens - you can tell he truly is absorbed.
✧ There’s passion in his eyes as he listens to you, nodding and asking the right questions, and you realise this is the time to say it.
✧ As an elf you knew you loved Pippin when he confessed to you, and that you would always love Pippin, but you were never sure when you would say it.
✧ As you stare at him, Pippin realises something’s happening and he turns to you with a quizzical look.
✧ “I love you.”
✧ It’s only three words, but Pippin lights up as though you have promised him the world.
✧ “Really?” The grin he gives is incredible, “I love you too!”
𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐫
✧ When Boromir confesses to you he’s says almost exactly that, just not using these words.
✧ For him there is something almost sacred about them, a bond more powerful than anything else.
✧ He is also worried about saying these words, and again it’s because he doesn’t want anything to go wrong. He wants to continue being worthy to you.
✧ So, when he confesses how much he loves you, he decides to do it properly. Asking you the day before if you’d meet with him, going to the market and hand picking flowers.
✧ Coming to where he is, you can recognise when he first sees you. Freezing slightly as he looks you up and down, almost as if he can’t believe you’re here, before smiling and welcoming you.
✧ At first it’s just talking. There’s romantic undertones, of course, and then he swallows and you realise he’s going to say something important.
✧ “I… I love you.” He says it proudly, “For all of you. I love you so much, my heart.”
𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐫
✧ Also afraid of confessing his true feelings to you. Although not just because he wants it to be perfect, which he does, but because of more self-worth issues.
✧ That his times with you are some of the best he has, and he doesn’t want any of that to change. He still wants to be able to laugh with you in Gondor, to kiss your hand goodbye and see the smile you give him in return.
✧ He isn’t sure why his mind thinks telling you that would put you off, but it’s a large enough part that he’s slightly hesitant.
✧ As the two of you walk along one of the top segments of Minas Tirith, he turns briefly to look at you. At how perfect this moment is.
✧ And he realises he needs to ask.
✧ “Can I tell you something?” His voice is soft, almost as if he wishes you not to hear it, but you pick it up and give him permission.
✧ Fully turning to you, he takes your hands in his. “I love you.”
✧ The way your eyes light up, and you immediately say it back, washes away the doubts he has.
✧ The kiss you lean into, light but reassuring, helps as well. Just another small gesture of how deeply the two of you feel for each other, and one he will never tire of.
𝐄𝐨𝐰𝐲𝐧
✧ (Éowyn’s eyes drift to the Paths, the rest of your company waiting, before she takes a deep breath. “Then we shall both swear not to fall in battle. We shall both fight to protect who we love.”)
✧ She is another who says how she feels in all but those exact words. And neither of you get a chance to say those words to each other until you’re in the Houses of Healing.
✧ As much as she wants to say it the second you’re awake, she shows some restrain. Waiting to make sure that you’re mostly ok.
✧ The conversation flows decently, but both of you know what she wants to say.
✧ And then the conversation stops.
✧ “I love you!” She blurts it out, and then instantly looks embarrassed. But your grin reassures her, and the red on her cheeks go from blush of embarrassment to a blush of love.
✧ As to not aggravate either of your wounds, she instead holds your hand as tightly as you will allow.
𝐄𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫
✧ Éomer can think of quite a few times when he’s wanted to say those moments to you (and, in all honesty, he could have said them from the moment he confessed.)
✧ But instead he tries to wait, waiting for the perfect time. And then, as he’s sitting at home and watching the fire die down, he realises that there will be no perfect time with you. Because every time is magical, in its own way.
✧ So he resolves to only until he sees you again.
✧ But, as the fire turns to embers, Éomer realises that will be too long of a wait.
✧ It’s almost eleven at night when you hear a knock on your door, and you open it to see him outside, looking up at you.
✧ As soon you open the door he hug you, burying himself in your arms. “I love you. And I should have told you earlier, but I love you.”
𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐝
✧ Bard wants to try and take things slow in the relationship, to fully appreciate each day (and even each moment) that he gets with you.
✧ That doesn’t mean he hasn’t thought about how he’d say those words to you, or potentially how they would sound falling from your lips, but it isn’t something he wants to rush.
✧ It’s something he wants to happen organically, as a product of your relationship rather than a given day.
✧ But still, when he finally confesses, it almost just slips out.
✧ You’re just saying goodbye to each other, and you turn back briefly before you leave, as if waiting for him to say one final remark.
✧ “I’ll see you later, love you.”
✧ The words slip out of his mouth before he can stop them, and he can feel himself blushing once he realises what he’s said - once he sees you frozen in space.
✧ “Did you…” You come slightly closer, “Did you actually just say that?”
✧ Looking into your eyes, he sees his own love reflected back at him. “Yes, I did. And I do.”
𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐢𝐥
✧ For all the elves, the act of saying ‘I love you’ is the largest commitment they will say, in their entire life.
✧ Those words will become like oaths, have them bind themselves to you for all of time, and that can never be taken lightly.
✧ The gift of love is the most meaningful of all, at least to them.
✧ But for Thranduil the weight of those words means even more. It also offers you a kingdom, a new family, and (most importantly to him) he does not want to pressure you.
✧ While sitting together, you can sometimes so clearly tell that he wants to say this to you. The elf will catch you, either over a book or glowing in the sunlight, and he just begins to speak before switching the conversation.
✧ And you catch on to why he hasn’t said that.
✧ Then, it happens again, as the two of you are talking over the fire together and he does that now familiar start of a conversation.
✧ Looking him in the eye, you place your hand over his, “Tell me.”
✧ “Are you sure?”
✧ “Completely.”
✧ “I love you.”
𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐫
✧ Despite being a minstrel, his words seem to fail him when he looks at you and tries to confess.
✧ He can write something down, yes. An epic poem or a song that details how he feels about you - but it's never quite enough. There is always something missing from it, something that does not show his love for you properly.
✧ Lindir recognises that it’s because it lacks spontaneity, he’s tried to polish and perfect it to be worthy of you but lost the raw emotion that gives it so much meaning.
✧ Which is why, after he puts down the pen for the third time that evening and thinks, he realises he should just tell you.
✧ There’s a quiet knock on your door, and when you open the door you see Lindir - blushing profusely.
✧ “I love you. I love you more than anything, enough to give up this immortal life, to give up the moon and stars. Because, for me, you are worth more than their light, than their radiance. Even a single smile from you is worth a thousand suns, because you are you. And I love you.”
𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐫
✧ Surprisingly, Haldir says those words to you when he confesses to you.
✧ He’s worried, for many reasons, and one of those is the weight that those words carry. That they may be too much, too soon.
✧ But he resolves to try, and that - on the eve of battle - it wouldn’t be wise to have regrets.
✧ (“I must say something, before this happens.” He reaches out, fingers gently touching your hand and breathing in when you fully embrace it. “You are the one my heart has chosen to fall in love with. Forever. And I apologise for the awkward timing, for not saying something sooner, but I need you to know now. That I love you.”)
𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐧
✧ As good with words as the twin is, the idea of putting all his love for you into three simple words is terrifying.
✧ And, frankly, he doesn’t think it sums up how he feels for you well enough. How can three words encompass all the happiness you give him? All the smiles he has gained because of you? The comfort he has gained because of you? The infinite ways his life has become better?
✧ Then the two of you are together, when you let out a small yawn and he pulls you close.
✧ Cuddling into his chest, you stare up at him for a second, “Thank you, Elladan.”
✧ “Of course.” He doesn’t mean to add the next words on, “I love you.”
✧ Elladan feels when you tense for a second beneath him, then the smile on your face as you look up and whisper, “I love you too.”
✧ Until now, Elladan didn’t understand what those words meant. But now he does, and how much they carry. How obvious it is, when you say those words for him, that you care.
𝐄𝐥𝐫𝐨𝐡𝐢𝐫
✧ Surprisingly, Elrohir struggles to say the words as well. Not because he doesn’t love you - he’s more sure about his feelings to you than he is most things in his life - but because he isn’t sure what you’ll say.
✧ There’s a degree of elven versus human courting fighting inside him. That, although he’s been clear with the fact he loves you (even jokingly asking you to marry him) that perhaps you thought it was just that, a joke.
✧ That he hasn’t done any of this the correct way, and what if you don’t feel the same way.
✧ You find it slightly odd that, with long days into your relationship, and no words past your lovers lip - that neither of you acknowledge it.
✧ But, although you can’t be sure, you think you start to recognise the problem.
✧ So it’s you who says it to him. “I love you.”
✧ “Really?” Instantly all his attention is on you, cheeks slightly flushed and eyes hanging onto your every word, “Do you really love me?”
✧ “Yes.”
✧ “Meleth nîn, you are my world.”
A/N : Casually drops this after disappearing for three weeks. Well, not disappearing, just not working on these. Sorry for the delay, life's been happening. But I hope you enjoy! Also, here's the remains of my original author's note : (the taglist issue still has not been fixed, so I welcome help!)
First of all, for some reason my taglist isn't working. It's just only tagging the first five people soo... I will try my hardest to fix that. Not sure what's going on with it. Also, the getting flowers was inspired by a drabble recently (can't remember name of author) but the thing that amused me was when they wrote about the flowers matching your eye-colour. Like, my eyes are brown. I'm sure it's supposed to be romantic, and it was very well written, but that just made me laugh.

time to light your pipe of longbottom leaf because I have found Aragorn in his 20’s…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can see him dirty and covered in grim as he hunts with Elrohir and Elladan. I can see him young and fresh running with the rangers, eager to see the world. I can see him scraped up and bleeding, returning to the house of Elrond, with smirks and grins as he flirts with Arwen. I can see him.
now, excuse me, as I promptly shriek as if I found a nazgûl in my bathtub.

The reader (you) , with your bratty personality, loved teasing the elves. You always find ways to get their attention at the most inconvenient times, often by reaching out to touch the elf’s sensitive ears. (For the elves, it was more than just a simple touch—such actions were seen as intimate, a signal of courting, and a serious one at that also incredibly sensitive to pain and pleasure. If the reader (you) didn’t get the response you wanted, you’d torment the elf’s ears further, pinching or tugging until their target finally relented. You knew just how to push their buttons—always with a smile and a glint of mischief in their eyes.)
Legolas, Elladan, Elrohir version below
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🍃𝓛𝓮𝓰𝓸𝓵𝓪𝓼
The wind whispered through the trees, the quiet murmurs of the forest seemingly too peaceful for what was unfolding just beyond the shade of the thick boughs. Legolas stood silently beside the campfire, the flickering orange light casting shadows over his strikingly ethereal features. He was already tense from the long day’s journey, every movement measured and graceful as ever. His attention seemed divided between the distant sounds of the forest and the mundane chatter of his companions, a lull in the evening as they prepared for rest. But for you, the calm before the night had become the perfect opportunity for mischief. You had always known just how sensitive Legolas’s ears were. Elves, as you had come to learn, were not just beautiful beings with unmatched grace and skill—they were deeply attuned to everything around them. His hearing, in particular, was finely honed to a point that even the smallest shift in the air could catch his attention. And you were about to put that to the test.
You slowly slid closer to where Legolas stood, pretending to focus on the task at hand, but in truth, you were scheming. The forest around you was still, and the other members of the fellowship were too wrapped up in their own thoughts to notice the game you were about to play. You took in the fine detail of Legolas’s posture—the way his brow furrowed slightly as he observed the world around him, how his perfect jawline shifted ever so subtly with his quiet sighs. A mischievous grin tugged at the corner of your mouth as you leaned in just enough to be barely noticeable to the others. You reached up, your fingers just grazing the delicate, pointed tip of his left ear. His body stiffened, just the faintest sign of a reaction, but he didn’t look your way. A small victory, but not enough for you. You had to push him further.
Your fingers circled the edge of his ear once, twice, and then, with a bit of added playfulness, you pinched it lightly between your thumb and forefinger. Legolas froze, his hand pausing in mid-motion, a sharp intake of breath barely audible to anyone but you. His gaze remained ahead, but his pulse quickened, and you could feel the tension radiating from him. He didn’t move, but there was something in his stillness that betrayed his surprise. “You…” His voice was low and controlled, but the hint of annoyance flickered beneath the surface, evident even in his careful tone. But you, ever the brat, had no intention of stopping. If anything, you found his discomfort all the more delightful. You continued, now gently running your fingers along the sensitive shell of his ear, tracing the delicate lines and curves that had always been a point of fascination for you. It was almost too easy to get him to respond—his hearing was so acute that even the faintest touch sent a tremor through him.
When you finally pinched his ear again, harder this time, his breath hitched audibly. He turned his head, his piercing blue eyes narrowing at you, though the cool facade he tried to maintain didn’t quite mask the flush spreading along his high cheekbones. His lips parted, but no words came out, his patience waning just slightly as he tried to decide how to handle you. “Enough,” Legolas finally said, though the command came with a slight tremble, his voice unable to fully mask the effect your teasing was having on him. He shot you a pointed look, and for a moment, you swore you saw something playful in his eyes—a challenge. But just as quickly, he regained his composure, raising an eyebrow. “You know better than to behave so recklessly, my friend.” But you were far from finished. The fact that you were getting under his skin, that your mischievous antics were rattling him in ways he didn’t like, was too tempting to resist. Your next move was daring—before Legolas could speak again, you took advantage of the moment and ran your fingers delicately along the side of his ear, brushing lightly against it as you teased him, your touch barely perceptible, but enough to send waves of sensation through him.
This time, the reaction was almost instant. His whole body stiffened, and his breath came out in a sharp exhale. Legolas took a half-step back, but his gaze flickered down to your eyes, searching for some sign of remorse—or perhaps an apology. But there was none. In fact, you smiled even wider, enjoying the power you held over him, even as he tried, and failed, to conceal his growing agitation. “You’re still not paying attention,” you teased, raising a hand to touch his ear once more. “I’m beginning to think I’ll have to try harder.”
Legolas’s patience was clearly at its limit. His voice, when he spoke again, was barely more than a growl. “Stop. Now.” His eyes were not as serene as usual, his usual calm demeanor cracking slightly, and you could see his mind racing—probably wondering how long you would push this before he’d have to take matters into his own hands. But something in his gaze betrayed that he wasn’t truly angry. There was a quiet amusement lingering beneath his tension, a flicker of reluctant affection you knew he wouldn’t voice. But you knew the rules by now. You could torment him with his sensitive ears all night if you wanted, but eventually, he would find a way to turn the tables on you. And sure enough, before you could react, Legolas moved quickly. In one swift motion, his hand shot out to gently but firmly grasp your wrist, halting your teasing fingers in mid-air. His eyes locked with yours, no longer playful, but serious now.
“Enough,” he said, his voice soft but final. His grip tightened slightly, just enough to assert his control, but not painfully so. You looked at him for a long moment, a mix of admiration and mischief still burning in your gaze. “You know you love it,” you said with a sly grin, fully aware of how much the playful game had gotten under his skin. For a moment, Legolas said nothing. His hand still held your wrist, but his gaze softened, the corners of his mouth twitching upward. There was a flicker of amusement in his eyes, despite his efforts to appear annoyed. “You are impossible,” he said, but the slight smile that tugged at his lips betrayed him. He let go of your wrist, his hand lingering for just a heartbeat longer than necessary before he turned to face the campfire, the warmth of the flames casting a soft glow on his face. You leaned back, crossing your arms in satisfaction, knowing you had won this round—though, you were well aware that Legolas would find a way to win the next.

The day had been quiet, peaceful even. The golden sunlight filtered through the trees of Rivendell, casting dappled shadows over the grounds where Elladan and the reader were seated. He was deep in thought, his keen eyes trained on the distant horizon, though his mind was far from the tranquility around him. He was always watchful, always vigilant, as any child of Elrond would be. But you had other plans for him that day. With a sly grin curling on your lips, you sat beside him, the faintest of chuckles escaping your throat as you studied the back of his head. You knew what you were about to do would drive him mad, but that was the point. Your fingers, agile and mischievous, hovered near the soft, silken tip of his ear. You had heard the stories, seen the subtle tension in Elven faces when someone dared to touch or play with their ears, and now you wanted to see it firsthand—test Elladan’s patience. The fact that it was a vulnerable, intimate gesture to him only made it more enticing.
Elladan had been ignoring you for far too long, his attention stolen by matters that, frankly, you couldn’t be bothered with. So, you had to make your own fun. Without warning, your finger lightly traced the curve of his ear, just grazing it with enough pressure to make him flinch. Elladan’s back stiffened, and his sharp, silver eyes flickered over to you, narrowing as if trying to gauge whether you were teasing or being truly intrusive. His breath caught, but he kept his composure. “What do you think you’re doing?” he asked, his tone playful but laced with something more—something you could only describe as a quiet warning. His gaze flickered between your fingers and your face.
The smile on your lips only grew wider. “Oh, nothing,” you replied, nonchalantly, but you couldn’t suppress the glint of mischief in your eyes. “Just curious.” Before he could say anything further, you leaned closer and, with a swift motion, pinched the delicate lobe of his ear. The movement was soft, but it caught him off guard, and the air around you both seemed to grow still as his head jerked toward you. “Stop that,” Elladan muttered, his voice tight, though his lips twitched with a suppressed grin. He tried to pull away, but you were already closer, your fingers once again toying with the sensitive, pointed curve of his ear.
You didn’t stop there, of course. What fun would that be? As the teasing continued, you could see the frustration building in his expression, but his restraint was evident. His sharp Elven hearing had no doubt picked up every sound, every movement, including the softest brush of your fingers against his ear. His pupils flickered with the same intense focus you always admired, but today, you’d be the one to disrupt his concentration. You weren’t about to stop until you got what you wanted—his full attention, the way he always gave when you played with his patience like this. If anything, the subtle resistance only encouraged you further.
Elladan’s voice softened, turning from playful reprimands to something darker. “Do you think it’s funny, tormenting me like this?” Your teasing grin was full of mischievous defiance. “Maybe. A little.” He caught your wrist suddenly, his fingers warm against your skin, but he didn’t squeeze. Instead, he locked eyes with you, a soft sigh escaping his lips. “You’re persistent, I’ll give you that.” He almost seemed amused, but there was an edge to his words now—an edge you were pushing against.
The corner of his mouth quirked, the playful spark never quite extinguishing. “You do realize what you’re doing, don’t you?” he asked, his tone shifting into something that, to you, was both warning and challenge. You knew exactly what you were doing. You weren’t just teasing him anymore. You were deliberately provoking him, testing just how far you could push. “I’m not doing anything, Elladan,” you said, voice sweet as honey but your eyes filled with mischief. “Just… getting your attention.” That was all it took. As if his patience had finally reached its limit, Elladan turned fully to face you. His grip on your wrist loosened, but his eyes remained locked onto yours, a mix of playfulness and something far deeper.
“You like playing with fire, don’t you?” he murmured, leaning in, his lips brushing against the shell of your ear, making the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. You could hear his breathing now, controlled and steady, but there was an undeniable warmth in his voice. You bit your lip, tempted to answer, but Elladan wasn’t waiting for you. In an instant, his hand slid to your other ear, a slow and deliberate motion that made you freeze. The touch was gentler than you expected, yet still enough to send a shiver through your body. You hadn’t expected him to turn the tables quite like this. “Your teasing has consequences,” he murmured, and suddenly, his fingers began to trace the sensitive edge of your ear in a way that made you feel like you might lose control of your breath.
You gasped, unable to stop the small, involuntary shudder that ran through you. The sensation was far more intense than you had anticipated, and for a moment, your teasing faltered. But Elladan’s eyes were playful, almost triumphant, as if he had won some small victory. “Not so funny now, is it?” he teased softly, his lips curling into a smirk as his hand lingered at the side of your neck, where the sensitive spot just beneath your ear was. His touch was light but had a way of making you feel utterly exposed.
Your hand instinctively moved to pull away, but you couldn’t help but feel drawn to him in that moment, a sense of vulnerability and something more—something that, despite your bratty antics, made you realize just how powerful this connection was. You both remained silent for a moment, the playful tension between you undeniable. And as you finally pulled your gaze away from his, your fingers lightly brushed against his own ear, sending a small jolt through his body. He didn’t immediately stop you this time, but there was a trace of amusement and something deeper—something more serious—lingering in the air. “Let’s see who’s really winning, hmm?” he said quietly, and with that, you knew the game had only just begun.

The atmosphere in Rivendell was peaceful that day. The sound of the river flowing nearby mixed with the hum of nature, but none of that could soothe Elrohir’s growing irritation. He stood near the stone wall, gazing out at the tranquil landscape, attempting to focus on the task at hand: reconciling his thoughts. It was meant to be a quiet moment—until you decided otherwise. You had been lurking nearby, watching him for several moments as he lost himself in contemplation. Elrohir was always so serious, so composed. You couldn’t resist the urge to make things interesting. After all, what were your few minutes together if not for mischief? With a sly smirk, you approached him from behind, your footsteps light and deliberate. The sound of his breathing didn’t even change; he was still far too focused on the distant hills. That’s when you saw it—his ears, so perfectly pointed, his vulnerability written all over them. That was your target.
Without warning, your hand shot out to gently pinch the soft curve of his ear. Elrohir froze, his breath catching slightly. “Did I get your attention, Elrohir?” you teased, feeling the slight twitch of his ear under your fingers. His body stiffened, and you could see the slow, controlled exhale that escaped him. He wasn’t one to lose his composure easily. “I believe I warned you about your behavior before,” he murmured, his voice a low, smooth warning that you only found amusing. You grinned wickedly, unfazed. “What can I say? You looked like you were having too much of a quiet moment.”
Your finger traced the delicate outline of his ear, just grazing the sensitive tip, knowing well that every movement you made would send a shiver through him. Elrohir’s breath hitched slightly, his lips pressing together tightly in an attempt to keep his cool. “You truly have a knack for getting under my skin,” he said, still calm, though his eyes were narrowed with a mix of irritation and something else—something you could only describe as amused exasperation. “Aw, come on,” you pressed, now daring to flick the edge of his ear just enough to make him shift uncomfortably. “Don’t be like that. You know you like it.” You punctuated your sentence with a tiny, teasing pinch, more forceful than before.
Elrohir’s jaw tightened, and he spun around swiftly, his eyes meeting yours with a quiet intensity. You could tell he was trying to regain control of the situation, but his ears betrayed him. His pupils were slightly dilated, and you could see his chest rising and falling quicker than normal. “Enough of this,” he muttered, though the sternness in his voice didn’t quite mask the edge of impatience that had begun to creep in. But you were persistent, always. A devilish smile curled on your lips as you leaned closer to him, this time brushing your hand along the length of his ear again, your fingers skimming the sensitive area just beneath the tip. You felt the way his body stiffened, the faintest tremor running through him.
When Elrohir gave a low, breathy sigh, you decided to go for broke. The teasing had been fun, but you wanted more. With a mischievous gleam in your eye, you lightly tugged at his ear, a pinch coupled with the pressure that only heightened the sensitivity of the delicate flesh. Elrohir inhaled sharply, and you couldn’t help but laugh softly. “So sensitive,” you murmured. “I think that proves it. You’re enjoying this more than you’re letting on.” Elrohir’s hand shot up, catching your wrist in a vice-like grip before you could pinch him again. His eyes were darker now, intense, as though your playful antics had crossed some line. But even so, there was a glint of something playful behind the sternness.
“You have a lot of nerve,” he said, his voice lower now, yet thick with tension. “I could turn the tables, you know.” His grip loosened slightly, and you could tell that it took a great deal of willpower for him not to retaliate, not to playfully bite back in kind. He was an elf, after all. But this game had been entirely on your terms so far, and he was going to make sure that balance shifted. You cocked your head, leaning even closer as you could feel his warmth radiating from him. His tall, commanding frame towered over you, but you still held your ground, defiant and unafraid. “Turn the tables?” you whispered, your voice taunting, testing the waters. “How? You wouldn’t dare.”
For a moment, his gaze softened, and there was something almost predatory in the way his eyes traced your face, assessing you like a hunter watching its prey. Then, suddenly, he tugged you closer with surprising strength, his other hand now resting lightly against the small of your back. “You never know what I might do when you push me far enough,” he whispered in your ear, sending a shiver down your spine. His voice was a dark mix of warning and promise. Before you could even react, his fingers brushed against your own ear in a teasing, deliberate motion, and for the first time, you froze. The sensitivity of your own ears, never fully appreciated until this moment, registered with full force, and you immediately felt a surge of heat spread through you.
You gasped, your attempt at teasing faltering as the same sensation that had driven you to torment him was now turning against you. “Well,” Elrohir said, his voice a low, satisfied murmur, “it seems you’ve learned a valuable lesson, have you not?” He gave your ear a quick, soft pinch that made your breath catch in your throat. You stared up at him, unable to fight the rush of feelings now swirling inside you. A blush colored your cheeks as you glanced down, both embarrassed and amused by how easily your own teasing had backfired.
Elrohir’s smirk deepened, and he leaned in, his lips brushing the edge of your ear as he whispered, “You may be playful, but remember… not all games end in your favor.” You shot him a mock pout, but it was clear now that you would never forget this playful, yet intense exchange. Elrohir was not one to be easily manipulated, but in his own way, he had returned your teasing with something more—something that left your heart racing and your mind wondering if perhaps you’d bitten off more than you could chew. “Fair enough,” you muttered, trying to regain your composure, though you knew better than to underestimate him in the future. The game, it seemed, was only just beginning.
