a smaller ramble about australian parr hair

to defend my anti-standardisation views about six following my cleves post you can have a lovely ramble about the non-standardisation about the parr hair in sixtralia

for starters vidya makan because i love her

i am so inlove with this hair omg😍 so its two dutch braids and then they get closer as the reach the bottom and connect into one large low ponytail, it features two curved crows each side of the braids and one of the few parr hairs to never be repeated, alongside this its also one some of the only non 3c-4c hairs to include french/dutch braids.

off to the alternates, pre/post covid is relevant for this

(1)to start of with ella burns, it is promotional footage so we dont know who shes meant to play. she is wearing an aragon crown but with a slick back which was a very common non-curly parr hair alternative

(2)shannen seems to be wearing a ponytail which is slicked back and put up by some sort of clip or pinning.

(3)karis oka wears her cleves hair and it looks like thats. her as cleves, but she hadnt worn pants for cleves then and theres no fishnet. i lovelove her crown and hair and i believe it works great for her portrayal of parr.

(1-chiara assetta, 2-shannen alyce-quan 3-karis oka) so just slick/non-slick ponytails. ok!

(1)i love cristinas hair so muchhh it makes parr seem like this bookish(which she is) protestant(in the fighting sense) queen and idk how to explain it but its just so great to me

(2) madeline’s hair is so good imo, her waves add dimension to the ponytail and the crown placement is a choice but the quiff adds some much needed volume to the parr hairs of this era.

this next era is my fav

(1-3)i love georgias hair for parr soso much i love the crown i love the side part i love the quiffs i love the braids it all comes together soso well.

(5-6) i love chiaras hair so much but the front is meh if i could mix the back of her hair with the fromt of georgias i think it might make the best parr hair ever. i think the low ponytail adds this sophisticated quality to parr and the silver highlights do oh so much

(7 & 8) im grouping gabi and thalia because i love the long puff quiff thing across parrs head that they both have. I think the braid is exceptionally good on gabriella and different styles of the braid tend to put me off (no shade aoife) but the crown jewel has to be thalia; her crowns are KILLER (and i mean literally) those spokes are so long but i love the looping knot things at the back of her hair idk how to describe it but its so mesmerising (also on leesa cleves - image at the end) and idk but i love it.

a big ramble about the cleves shorts in the reveal

just to preface this the old cleves design that had been standardised between jk and the uk had always had 2-3 chains each side which connected to the centre of the thigh around the outside, to the back.

the reveal, between the productions has boleyn and seymour removing the front and back of the shorts respectively, howard removes the right of the top and parr the left, aragon pretends shes done something, in the reveal, seymour hands her part to howard and Boleyn hands hers also to howard, who runs to stage left and throws it into the wings, parr goes to stage right and throws part of cleves’ top into the wings as well. It is held together by poppers (later shown by paisley billings) the zipper can open (also shown by paisley billings) im unsure wether or not theres are two tops, with a rippable zipper and one with a functional zipper but oh well. the reveal spilts near/on the zipper and paisley wore her jacket open at the zipper after the reveal.

To start off with JK, I’m going to use nasia thomas as my example because its so nicely standardised. (even if i hate standardisation)

As you can see in photo 1&2 every cleves wearing a JK costume has two pairs of shorts, one with no chains, because well, you cant split the chains front and back, so its just very plain shorts with two tab/handle things on the front, which are used for boleyn to grab and pull the shorts. when she returns on stage, she has the side chains that had been on the non-tearaway shorts. the seams are also visibly not there. overall makes sense and everyone has the same setup.

in the uk, the boleyn, rather thank grabbing the chains, puts she grips inside of the shorts by the mic holder and waistband and pulls it down and out.

now to the unstandarisation. for almost no reason at all.

Every alt except naomi alade and lorren santo-quinn have only 1 pair or shorts (based on the fact that in the megasix their shorts have a large seam) and every principal except dionne and alexia (pre hampton) have 2 pairs. I’m definitely one for non standardisation… unless its differences in the same costume for no reason

anyways how the costume works and sidenotes about paisley

at the bottom of paisleys trousers, you can see a popper so we know its poppers, which elaborates the force needed to remove it and how its perfectly lined up every time.

her top its also open at the zipper despite it being closed and ripped open for the reveal however its not possible to tell if its a zipper that can be torn away or two separate jackets i would need more photos from the back to find the seam but until then, im leaning towards a tear away zipper and one jacket but you never know🤷‍♀️

1st post but the amount of long peplum parrs in recent years is very very few and in honor of @back2thepalace i made a lovely badly edited one (can you tell who has a long peplum)(hint: its not dionne)
