The elves of Imladris as horses
Tumblr media
Requested by Anon
Hi! Can I request a Imladris elves Horse AU? I love your horse AU :) congrats on the 500 followers!
(I left Glorfindel out since he already has a headcanon. He does get mentioned though. Hope you like it!)
Warnings: some horses being mischievous, Erestor is a grump, some spooky mystical things happening, some falling, biting, wandering off, and mentions of disappearances.
-------------------------------------
- You loved horses when you were young. Those creatures always looked majestic and something out of fairy tales.
- You would never miss a riding class with your favorite pony and sometimes nagged your parents to let you ride a horse. They didn't since you were too small and young to sit on a full-grown horse. They only allowed it when they were the ones riding the horse, and you would sit in front and shriek in delight when they started galloping.
- You were so obsessed with horses that you sometimes wandered in forests, trying to find a mythical horse. It always made your family freak out and scold you not to go alone in the woods.
- You even remember being jealous of your older sibling when they got their own horse.
- But as time passed and you reached your teens, you began to outgrow your horse fantasies and found other interests. Owning a horse and taking classes was quite costly, so you sought something cheaper and an easier career path.
- Your family was quite involved with horses, and most of your older relatives have been horse riders, so it was nearly a traditional thing. However, your family respected your life choices and did not try forcing you to become a horse rider as well.
- Imladris was a famous horse stable where you had spent most of your childhood with your older sibling. You knew the owner and were familiar with most of the horses that lived there.
- It was a lovely place located near mountains and rivers. The forest paths were filled with wildlife and were commonly known for the nightingales that lived there. Riding there felt like the whole forest was singing. It also felt like a home to the riders as to the horses. It is a wondrous place.
- One day, when you were visiting your family. Your older sibling asked you to watch their horse and a couple of others since they were so thin on caretakers and they desperately needed to attend other things in their lives.
- You were on vacation from your current career path, so you agreed.
- Your older sibling was grateful, and since you were familiar with most things you needed to do while caring for the horses. They simply introduced you to the necessary tasks and the other horses that were going to be in your care.
- Elrond, Celebrian, Elladan, Elrohir, Arwen, Erestor and Lindir.
- You knew Elrond since he was your sibling’s horse. You simply adore him. You knew Celebrian since she lived in the same stable, and from what you heard, she and Elrond were technically married. You haven’t met their kids but heard how beautiful they are. The twins are named Elladan and Elrohir, and the daughter is Arwen. You also knew Erestor and that he was a crump. Lindir was someone new to you.
- And with all things settled. You stayed at your family’s house, and your sibling was off to the cruel world of jobs and schools.
Elrond
- Elrond was a beautiful dark brown stallion with a star mark over his forehead. You had heard it was a common trait from his family tree. He was the infamous mare’s Luthien’s great-grandson and even had a twin who lived in another stable named Elros.
- Elrond is a lovable horse, perhaps one of the most gentle horses in the whole existence. He was happy to see you when you showed up at the stable. He gave you a cheerful neigh as a greeting, and it only made you smile as you petted him and gave him a treat.
- It was like you two were old friends, and it was true in a way.
- Elrond was an experienced dressage horse and has done show jumping in the past. Most of the time now, he’s used during riding classes for new young riders to help them get experience, and he’s very gentle with them.
- He’s pretty much everyone’s favorite horse.
- He was gentle with you too when you rode him for the first time. You felt nervous since you hadn’t ridden in a long time, but he was patient and always stopped when you had trouble adjusting your position or the stirrups.
- He’s just so patient, and thanks to him, you gained some experience in riding and became more confident. You finally understood why the younger riders would want to ride him first than any other horse.
- He was easy to clean and seemed to be okay with everything.  You thought there was at least one thing he didn’t like, but no. He didn’t even mind getting washed with water than most horses who would either hate it or be scared of it. On the contrary, he seemed to enjoy taking baths.
- There was one thing he didn’t like – the riding crop.  He would walk away from the sight, which felt a bit strange since your sibling had used a crop in the past till you heard he had some rowdy kids who used the crop violently during classes. He then began disliking it and refused to come out of the pasture or his stall if he saw a crop.
- It was understandable, so you ensured to never bring a crop when it was time for an exercise or a riding session.
- One adorable thing about him was how he would act around Celebrian. The two would always hang out in the pasture and care for each other. The two were like a married couple.  You heard there was once an incident where Celebrian was supposed to move away to another stable but the two caused a fuss and refused to separate from each other, so Celebrian’s owner had to relent and allow Celebrian to stay at Imladris to be with Elrond.
- It sounded like a deep romance drama and you were happy the two were allowed to stay together.
+ 100 / 10 Elrond is a sweetheart. If ‘kind as a summer’ was a horse– he would be it. He doesn’t cause any trouble, and he’s sometimes helpful when you are dealing with his kids. There was nothing negative you could say about him, especially considering that you've known him for most of your life.
Celebrian
- A beautiful white mare with slight silver in her mane. Elrond’s wife and a very adventurous horse.
- You have known Celebrian nearly as long as you have known Elrond. She's affectionate and has an adventurous personality; she enjoys wandering far in her pasture and the woods during rides.
- She’s also the twins and Arwen’s mother.
- You have heard her mother was Galadriel, one of the most beautiful horses from Finarfin’s family tree. This was intriguing since it meant that two horses from well-known family trees came together and produced three lovely foals.
- However, unlike Elrond, Celebrian was troublesome in a way.
- She can sometimes be a little airhead and wander off for long periods. You would either need a search party or Elrond to call her back whenever she goes missing.
- She likes to play a lot on the dirty grounds, so keeping her clean was a workout.
- Sometimes, she likes to tease you during exercises and classes, especially when you are on her back, just to get a reaction out of you. You don’t like it, but at least you learned how to grow stronger nerves and confidence with troublesome horses. She was technically level 2 after Elrond.
- She enjoys forest runs and tends to be a bit dramatic when it comes to work.
- However, she’s soft toward Elrond and would not leave him alone, and she’s very stern with her kids even if they are already grown young horses.
+ 10/10 You like her even if she constantly teases you and gets dirty most of the time. You would appreciate it if she would stop wandering off so much. It’s a real trouble to get her back.
Elladan and Elrohir
- Elladan and Elrohir are two dark horses with brown tones in their mane. They share the same forehead star marking and are one of the rare pairs of twin horses.
- It is a bit surprising since Elrond has a twin too, and there was another pair of twin horses from his family tree. Three generations of twin horses. What are the odds?
- The two are energetic and nearly as troublesome as their mother as they seemed to take it to themselves to test your nerves as well.
- They have a tendency to steal brushes and equipment, and sometimes they steal food from the storage. And they always grin at you after you catch them in their criminal act.
- They like to play with the hose when they are in the pasture and you are trying to refill their water trough. It would get messy, and you would always get wet from all the water they throw around.
- They are not your favorites, and you nearly lose your patience with them every time they are on to their mischief. They sometimes earn a laugh or two from you from their antics. And you think it had become a challenge for them to make you laugh since they would grin after making you laugh.
- You are so glad they never do anything damaging.
- Luckily, they take riding and shows seriously. Elladan specialized in dressage, while Elrohir excelled in show jumping. Sometimes, they even rode together in shows.
- They are pretty tame toward their riders and even the youngest who want to ride them. However, due to their mischievous nature toward you, you do not dare to ride them and let them usually run around together on the field, sometimes making them jump.
- You were not going to risk it with their shenanigans.
7 / 10 You find their antics sometimes funny, but they make you mistrust them. You do not like how they get messy and cause you a headache most of the time.
Arwen
- A beautiful black mare with a similar forehead star like her brothers and father.
- Arwen is a friendly horse. She’s sweet toward you and anyone she meets, but she has taken after her mother and gained a habit of wandering off into the woods and going missing for some time. Luckily, she comes back before nightfall, so she doesn’t cause you a total heart attack as her mother does most of the time.
- It seems that Celebrian’s wandering trait is going to be a recurring thing.
- Strangely, you had noticed that Arwen’s urge to wander into the woods was much stronger than with Celebrian. It might have been a family thing since you had heard Luthien and Elrond’s mother, Elwing, had a strong tendency to get lost in the woods too, so it might not be Celebrian’s trait that was kicking in Arwen.
- It could have also been related to the incident with Luthien’s father, Thingol, and the mystery mare that was never found after he was finally found alone in the woods with his newborn foal.
- You remembered reading about it in the newspapers; it was still a mystery with no logical answers. People assumed it was a wild mare, but Thingol’s owner once claimed strange things began happening around Luthien when she lived under their care as a foal. If the owner of Luthien's father could assert that something was not right, then there was no way the mare could have been just an ordinary wild horse.
- Whatever it was, it was a thing of the past. You just have to keep a watchful eye on Arwen, and things will be fine.
- You two got along well. Arwen was used in riding classes, and the youngsters adored her, but sometimes she was used in vaulting, and you always found it fascinating to watch as her rider and other beginners did complex tricks on her back. You would never dare to do anything like that, especially the flips.
- You have heard she had won several horse shows, and she was considered just as beautiful as Luthien, and the two are nearly a look alike.
- Arwen enjoys it when you bring her on rides through the forest, especially with her family. These riding trips often lead to funny mishaps, such as taking a dip in the river or racing beneath the trees.
- However, you sometimes get an odd sensation of being watched when riding through the forests. It was a spooky feeling, and you do not know why, but sometimes, you think you can see a horse wandering behind the trees or hear its voice. Yet, when you investigate, you find nothing – it's as if you've seen a ghost.
- You shared your experience with Arwen's owner, and they revealed that they had similar incidents in the past. The owners of Elwing and Luthien had also mentioned feeling watched and followed in the woods in the news, hearing what sounded like a wild horse but never finding anything.
- It was so strange that you nearly believed Elrond’s family line was haunted or something. Arwen’s owner commented that perhaps it was the mystery mare watching over her descendants, but that was a too far-fetched theory for you to believe. However… you were never sure.
- One salvation for her constant wandering arrived in the form of a stallion. You noticed Arwen had taken a strong liking toward a stallion named Aragorn. He’s a friendly horse with some past as a guard horse and came to Imladris for retirement, or so you heard.
- Arwen seemed pretty determined to get his attention, neighing, and Aragorn seemed to return the new feelings, and it was like a romance drama upholding behold you. Even though Aragorn sometimes seemed pretty shy around her.
+7/10 She’s a headache on her own, but at least not a bad one like her brothers. Watching her unfolding romance drama is hilarious.
Erestor
- The grumpy old stallion with a dark coat and white socks. He was the definition of being an old man in a horse body. He was a very beautiful horse, but his personality was something to work with.
- He doesn’t give you trouble when it's time to go to the pastures or do his exercises, but he does seem to like to look at you and silently judge you.
- He’s sometimes picky with the food and brushing, and if you end up on the wrong spot, he might give you the back ears and threaten to bite you. He doesn’t bite but takes a rough nibble, which does feel uncomfortable. But he does bite when you try to give him a bath though.
- You first thought he hated you for some reason then his owner told you that’s just his personality.
- They gave you a hint that if you put an online book with a narrator on for him to listen to, he will remain calm and focus on the story while you clean him even during bath times. It was odd when you first tried it but loved it when it worked. Surprisingly, even you got into it and found something you liked with Erestor.
- Before brushing time, you would check on your phone and ask Erestor what he would like to listen to and he would give you a snort of the book he would like to listen to.
- It turns out Erestor can be sweet and agreeable when you share a common interest.
- Erestor has experience in show jumping and cross-country jumping. He was surprisingly calm when you decided to ride him. He didn’t scare anything or try to bite your feet.
- He seems to like taking rides through the forests with other horses. But he will refuse to cross any river unless there is a bridge. You don’t even think he’s afraid of it, he just hates it.
- He is sometimes pretty snappy toward other horses, especially toward one golden-colored horse that once came to visit. Glorfindel was his name you think. He’s pretty rough toward the twins, but Elrond and Celebrian he seems to respect.
-8/10 he’s not so bad once you manage to get past his moody side. Doesn’t cause trouble and you like riding him. Bath time with him is awful thought.
Lindir
- Lindir is a soft chestnut-colored stallion with darker tones on his mane. He was new to the stable, so you didn’t know much about him. You only knew he was older than Elrond’s kids but younger than Elrond, Celebrian, and Erestor.
- He was timid and reluctant to approach you when you started caring for him.
- It was a challenge, but you quickly learned how his moods changed over things. First, he hated getting dirt on his coat, so keeping him clean was relatively easy, except when it was time to wash him after riding sessions. He hated water and made it difficult for you to get the sweat and dirt off his back. He was literally worse than Erestor when it came to bath time.
- He was also picky about the food he ate. He had no problem eating grass and fruits when they were available, but when it came to feeding him any concentrates or minerals – there were suddenly several problems.
- He would refuse to eat if there were too many pellets. He would kick the bucket away if there’s too little of a certain mineral. And he will not even touch the bucket if it's moisturized with water— even if it is good for him.
- You had to contact his owner for details on the food after he refused to eat the food you prepared for three days straight.
- His owner explained that he was quite strict about sticking to old routines and asked you to give him a couple of days to adjust to new things. He would eventually start eating different foods and become more lenient with you.
- His owner also told you to play music on your phone, and he will remain calm during washing times.
- You nearly didn’t believe them till you played some classical music on your phone and watched how calm Lindir turned.
- He was probably a musician in his past life since he focused on listening while you brushed and washed him. He would step away a couple of times but didn’t try running away like usual.
- After that, you made sure to play music whenever it was time to clean him.
- After some days passed, you managed to get past Lindir’s timidness and learned he was pretty affectionate. He got used to other horses and would sometimes bring you flowers and sticks he would find from the pasture.
- He mostly had been on horse shows and wasn’t experienced much in riding.
- He was training to be another dressage horse, and his owner hoped he would get used to children and younger riders in riding classes, but after several incidents with children— he was pulled out from the list of horses for youngsters.
- He grew to dislike children and younger riders, especially after being handled by a few rowdy ones. He would refuse unless there’s an adult to walk beside the kid.
- Lindir also had a peculiar dislike toward ponies.
- You are not entirely sure why, but he has a tendency to avoid them. It could be because the ponies can sometimes be rowdy and wild, but it still remained a mystery.
- He does not have a problem with you riding him, but he sometimes gets easily startled, and you fall from his back.
- You never fall badly or in a way where you injure yourself, but Lindir would feel bad and brood about it for a whole day. It would take his favorite treats, pets, and words of assurance for him to get back to his usual self.
- He is a one peculiar horse.
+8 / 10 He's pretty okay. Washing him is not a funny job, but he's not as difficult as Erestor or the twins. You enjoy listening to music with him, but he sometimes has a picky collection.

How the elves react to Elrond getting sick:
Maedhros & Maglor: Absolutely freak out. Assume Elrond is dying and that the Doom of Feanor's house has finally caught up to them. Maedhros insists he says in bed and makes him soup. Maglor starts planning a lament for his funeral. (He has a cold)
Gil-Galad: Tries to convince Elrond to rest. Always fails. Has resorted to getting Elrond a bed desk so he can do his work while he rests. Frequently checks up on him to make sure he's alright or to bring him little gifts to make him feel better.
Erestor: Also half-elven, so gets it. Inevitably gets sick whenever Elrond does because he refuses to stay away. They always end up sick together, but they are together, and that means something.
Celebrimbor: Has read multiple books on human anatomy for the sake of his cousins (Erestor, son of Caranthir included). Theoretically understands how to care for someone who is ill. *Checks notes* according to this, if I give you chicken soup every day for a week it will cure your *checks notes again* pneumonia. He's trying his best.
Galadriel: Does not understand human or half-elven biology very well. Has taken Elrond on a ten mile hike in the snow when he was getting over a cough. Elrond's Feanorian followers have never forgiven her for it.
Celebrian: I would say she uses Elrond being sick as an excuse for them to stay in bed and cuddle, but let's be honest, she doesn't need an excuse for that. Knows he can take care of himself, and is a lot more Normal about it than everyone else on this list. Elrond loves her very much.
Glorfindel: Fully willing to pick up Elrond (or Erestor) and take them back to bed so they rest. Takes his duty to protect his lord very seriously. A very comfortable pillow for sick half-elves.
Lindir: Absolutely freaks out. You thought his anxiety about the dwarves was bad?? Elrond always has to calm him down and assure Lindir that is, in fact, not about to die. He does sometimes ask Lindir to play for him when he's ill though.

Instead of honouring specific aspects of his heritage, Elrond creates something entirely new for himself.
The House of Elrond is it’s own thing. Imladris is entirely unique. You think you see something Noldorin or Sindar or even Mannish, but look for a second more and it’s not like that at all.
Because when Elrond designed it as a Homely House, he made sure anyone who came knew they’d be welcome. They could heal and start over without judgement.
(Ultimately that’s what keeps his relations with other races so strong too. They feel comfortable in this home of many lines.)
There are specifically Dúnedain influences though. He’s fostered so many kids, looked after so many families, he wants to make sure they know that they might have lost their kingdom, but they still have a home. It’s common for Dúnedain to stop by, take refuge, recover, just say hi to friends. But they’re such an unknown people, you can’t see it unless you know it’s there. There’s even a beautiful little graveyard where so many of his distant nephews and nieces have found their rest, visited regularly by the residents of Imladris.
There’s also many many trinkets from across the centuries scattered around. A wonky dagger with a place of honour, the first work of a rising chieftain. The cracked vase from that time it was knocked over by a ball from a young boy. Letters and drawings carefully kept in Elrond, Elladan, Elrohir, Arwen, and even Celebrian’s drawers. Glorfindel, Erestor, and most residents of Rivendell have at least a few items gifted by the many generations of Dúnedain who’ve walked through the valley.
All this is taken with them when they sail, and the memory of these people whose lives were so entwined with their own lives on.

When Elrond stepped upon the ship that was to take him, Galadriel, Gandalf, Bilbo, Frodo and a few others to Valinor he was nervous. So long had imagined what it might be like, and for some time even questioned if he would ever sail.
But here he was, stood upon their ship with the undying lands finally in sight after months of sailing across the unending ocean. He might be a mariners son but he certainly had no great love for boats, he didn’t have a problem with them, but the knowledge of not having ground beneath his feet still made him uneasy.
At their arrival many awaited them, to welcome the newcomers into the blessed lands.
High King Arafinwë, in Middle Earth better known as Finarfin, and his other children had come to welcome Galadriel.
Gandalf reunited with some old Maia friends of his and then escorted the hobbits that had joined them to a nice little cottage for them to spend their days in.
He himself recognized many of the faces in the small crowd. First he spotted Gil-Galad, who welcomed him with open arms. Then his beloved Celebrian, who pulled him into a hug the moment he saw her, she was much better now.
A few soldiers of Rivendell were there as well, happy to see their Lord again.
Elrond ended up settling in Tirion with all the others and moved into Celebrian‘s home. It was a nice house with a good view and easy access to the marked and other nearby shops and market places.
Tirion was flawless. The white towers with their pointy roofs, the elegant guards with their silver spears, the marked place with its various stalls and merchants.
He met many of his ancestors, some he got along with and some he didn’t.
The first he met was Turgon, it took half an hour for them to end up in an argument about the moralities of handling delicate situations within one‘s own city and when to help those in need.
Luckily his second meeting went much better. His great grandfather, Fingolfin, was much more sensible and they got along quickly due to their shared knowledge on leadership and experience of hardships throughout their lives. Though the late High King did comment to his wife Anairë later about how he was sure he‘d bite his teeth out on Elrond eventually, comparing his stubbornness to someone else’s.
When he at last met Fingon it took the elf exactly five minutes to ask if he had been raised by Maedhros. To this day Elrond didn’t understand how he did it, for he himself wasn’t aware of the small details. Like how he did his hair exactly like the fëanorian had or that he held himself with something of Valinorian regalness he definitely didn’t pick up in Lindon.
But as time went on Elrond began to realize something.
Tirion was truly perfect.
Too perfect.
Everyone seemed to have collectively decided to ignore any pains and hardships experienced in Middle Earth or Beleriand and live their lives as if everything was perfectly fine.
When bringing this up to Gil-Galad he just said that they preferred it that way, even if it wasn’t perfect, not everyone had made the journey and seen war, and those who didn’t weren’t comfortable of discussing or displaying it.
The more time Elrond spend in the white city the lonelier he felt. It seemed as if he was the only one prepared to speak of or even mention anything of the things that happened to so many of them.
The more he realized that the more he felt out of place.
Because he wasn’t perfect, he was far from it actually.
He had gone through things most couldn’t imagine in their worst nightmares and had seen horrors he wished he could forget.
He had seen his city attacked, had been kidnapped, even though that did turn out positively in the end. Had witnessed war and bloodshed from young on, had served as Herald and later taken on the mantel of Lord. He had seen so much that he just couldn’t ignore.
So one day he mounted his horse and rode out of Tirion. He didn’t have a destination or any idea where he was going but he just kept riding until he was exhausted.
When he looked up he saw a large city with high towers, but no pointy roofs were atop them, instead there stood guards. The walls weren’t made of white stone and marble but steadfast and resistant cobblestone and tall pillars.
The front guards let him in after he explained his situation, and the moment he stepped through those gates it was as if he had entered another world. No excessive jewelry was worn, but rather detailed braids and head dresses or simple circlets.
Scars of all types were openly portrayed instead of covered up and hidden as if they were sometimes to be ashamed of.
Elrond saw elves with walking sticks and missing limbs and crippled bodies. They were warriors, they were survivors, they were the ugly but real truth, and it felt so relieving too see them.
He had no idea where he had ended up in, but he already knew it was much better than Tirion.
No one was putting on a fake mask of perfection and instead just acted as they truly were.
Elrond walked through the streets, talked with some of the locals and listened to their stories.
He heard everything from ex soldiers to healers like him to guards and even some escaped thralls of Angband.
It was so much better than the flawlessly perfect white city. It wasn’t fake.
Elrond ended up in what seemed to be a throne room. At the end of it stood a elf, dressed in a long robe, his hair littered with many braids and a elegant silver hammer in hand.
His eyes were of piercing grey and his hair as black as the night, but his gaze familiarly gentle.
Elrond knew before he spoke.
Elrond knew before he looked up.
Elrond knew before he stepped closer.
Elrond knew before he even acknowledged him.
He knew where he was, and he knew he would stay.

(*i dont know what kind of dog huan is, but he sheds. a lot. caranthir just wants to have ONE (1) space thats not covered in shed fur)
assume this is in the context of a modern au, or else that everyone is miraculously back from the dead and generally getting along fine and in the interim aman has had its industrial revolution and produced a more eco-friendly equivalent to our technologies
dont take this too seriously or get upset if your blorbo isn't represented, i filled out the ballot on a whim lmao. if you have someone you are Convinced would have one that isn't on this ballot, please do mention it in the tags
#silmarillion#silm polls#polls#house of finwe#finweans#feanorians#nolofinweans#arafinweans#and for anyone curious about why i excluded some of them (i.e. my highly arbitrary headcanons im sticking to):#feanor and nerdanel have seven kids and two(+) crafts that utilize a lot of bulky materials. they dont have time for vehicular aesthetics#they have a 15 passenger vans for kid ferrying and a delivery-type van to move materials and Thats It#i honestly think finrod is too social for a car that only seats two#maglor has a minivan. i will not be accepting criticism or substitutions at this time. he needs the space for his instruments and kids#(where'd he get the kids? are they his? probably. maybe. dont worry about it. did you know that minivans have /so many/ cupholders?)#curufin also has a minivan because he has only one child but is completely obsessive about his safety. and minivans are generally very safe#celegorm refuses to consider buying a vehicle his dog cant fit into and has either a jeep or a toyota hylux that he uses to the max#maeglin has a nightmare car he cobbled together out of the remains of twelve different makes and models. its extremely fuel efficient but#visibly frankensteined together and he almost never gets asked to give anyone a ride to the airport#(jury's still out on whether that was an intentional part of the design or not)#i dont have a solid reasoning for leaving off findis and arafinwe. they just dont seem to me like they would#same for celebrian gil-galad or the rest of the great-grandkids. i either dont know them well enough or they dont strike me as the type#god these tags are ridiculous. okay cutting myself off now goodbye

I was thinking about the weirdness of LaCE and the whole sex=soul-marriage thing again (as you do) and a thought struck me:
what if the way it works in cases of assault (or is believed to work by the elves; in this case it doesn't matter if it's actually what happens of just what they think) is that you don't end up with a full-on bond, no, but you do get bits of connection, like hooks stuck in your soul from the other person(s)?
And—if we run with the worst interpretation of the Celebrían situation—what if that's what motivates Elladan and Elrohir to be so determined to hunt down every single orc in Middle-earth?
If Celebrían left because she couldn't bear the feeling or thought or those orc-hooks in her soul (or the ptsd flashbacks and trauma that made it easy to assume the stories were true, and that's what was happening to cause her misery) and hoped that crossing the Sundering Sea would cut them off, or at least blunt them and let the scars heal...
Well, the twins know that you can't really sail back, of course they do. They know!
But Glorfindel did. And a whole host of elves came once, during the War of Wrath. So it's not that nobody has, ever. (They can look up and see their grandfather sailing in the sky every night, out of the Undying Lands. Maybe somebody could hitch a ride...?)
If they can make Middle-earth safe for her again...well, maybe she won't come home. But at least then she could, if a chance ever came to leave and cross the Sea again. She could.
And even if she doesn't, at least when they Sail*, they can tell her that they slew her nightmares, finally.
And maybe that will be enough.

Imladris HCs that nobody asked for but I will be sharing anyway bcs I have some thoughts about that silly little elf hotel
Upon entering the borders, the magic surrounding the valley is tangible to the person entering and reflects Elrond’s opinion on them
AKA it might feel like to hug to any of his kids, or a warm greeting to a friend. I guess some sort of discomfort to come to people he doesn’t like but who is trying to enter the valley if Elrond hates them anyway
The title “Last Homely House” only refers to the home of Elrond and his friends/family; there’s a surrounding city as well tucked further into the valley
The city is actually fairly undivided in terms of Sindar vs Noldor; at this point everyone just kinda vibes.
Maglor obviously was not allowed traipsing around the city at first though; however after a couple hundred years people are more or less accustomed to “Lindir” anyways
(He mostly spends his time haunting/terrorizing guests though, much to Elrond’s dis(?)pleasure)
The grounds surrounding the main house/manor or whatever include a frankly astounding amount of statue gardens including but not limited to:
Statues of the sons of Feanor, the houses of Fingolfin, Finarfin, Beor, Hador and Haleth, Melian’s line, Beren and Luthien, the great-grandchildren of Finwe, the valar, and the kings of Numenor
The grounds also include two graveyards, one for elves and one for men.
Celebrian planted wildflowers year-round, timing them so that in the spring the grounds explode with flora. Arwen and Elrohir continue the tradition after she sails.
One of Elrond’s kids (either Elladan or Aragorn) brought a warg pup back home once. It bred, and now there are fairly domesticated wargs protecting the valley
Everyone in the valley gets excited when hobbits visit, as it’s a rare occasion; they don’t normally serenade visitors. Hobbits are the exception.
Elrond’s home and the surrounding grounds are just a tad sentiment; the paths and corridors have a habit of bringing people Elrond likes straight where they need to go, and getting others hopelessly lost.
That’s all I have for now, possibly will update later!

"Elrond my dear brother! Do not cry for me for this is the path that I chose. I am contented, satisfied and happy..." The last words from Elros was finally sent to his brother after a very very long time. The reason why the letter had not been sent to Elrond from the beginning and lost for a long time is unknown, But Elrond finally got the letter from a herald of the Númenóreans - who could not hide their emotion while giving it to him solemnly. Then the night fell. The candle was out. The grief once more was unimaginable. But Celebrian was there... -------- -------- -------- -------- Elrond is usually in the role who taking care for others but when it comes to himself, I think it’s kinda hard because he has a deep background and history and all….so I just thought that even the person seems like they’re always doing a very good job at holding themselves together, can even show their true feelings. It’s OK to be sad, to miss someone, to be who you are.

Celebrian looked like Míriel. It was a cruel coincidence that she, too, left too soon.

When Celebrian confessed her love to Elrond the poor guy was so shocked all he said was “okay” and walked away leaving her standing alone and confused. Elrond still cringes when he thinks about it years later.

Hair Headcanons for the rest of the Finweans:
Celebrimbor: Dark, raven-wing colored iridescent hair. Exactly like Feanor. Just like the rest of Celebrimbor. I'm sure he doesn't have any feelings about that.
Idril: Blonde hair with darker streaks near the roots. 10/10 for shimmer, looks like actual gold. Even Glorfindel is vaguely jealous. She particularly enjoys how sapphires look in it and often wears it in locs, like her father.
Maeglin: Dark hair, like Aredhel's; often seems to have streaks of a dark purple color. He usually wears his hair loose, which would be a safety hazard in the forge if not for the Finwean Hair Magic™️. He does very little in the way of hair care, but his hair still always looks perfect because of course it does.
Earendil: Originally had blonde hair similar to Idril's, but that's changed since he became a living star. Now, his hair looks almost like golden fire, flickering strangely even without wind, tapering off to white near the end, though his glowing hair has nothing on the radiance in his eyes, which is said to burn the unworthy– just like the Silmaril he wears as a crown.
Celebrian: Her hair is actually very similar to her mother's– the "silver" in her name refers to how it looks under the moon, but under the sun, it has a distinctly more golden hue. Is often seen with fireflies floating around her hair like a crown. (This may or may not be Elrond's doing)
Gil-Galad: No one can agree on what Gil's hair looks like. Some say it's as silver as mithril, flowing long and straight down his back. Others insist his hair was just like Fingon's– though maybe a bit darker. Other say he had Finrod's golden curls, or even Maedhros's red tresses. What they can all agree on is that Gil clearly had Finwean Hair Magic™️, and was therefore clearly a Finwean... even if they weren't sure exactly where he came from.
Elrond: Exists at the fascinating intersection of Finwean Hair Magic™️ and Melian's Maiarin magic. Normally, his hair actually looks a lot like Finwe's; dark with many colors of sparkly iridescence. But sometimes, on nights when the moon is full, or when thunder rumbles in the valley, it seems to have a mind of its own; more living shadow than hair. Many people have asked about this. Elrond has not provided anything resembling a proper explanation.

Ok so I‘ve heard it’s mentioned that Tyelpë has dark hair but HEAR ME OUT-
Celebrimbor with silver hair from Miriel.
Gil Galad with silver hair from Eärwen.
Celebrian with silver hair from Celeborn.
Silver hair is seen as a rarity, so when the king and his cousins walk anywhere together, they make a *sight.*
But when he joins, it’s Elrond who turns the most heads, an unnatural beauty courtesy of his great grandmother (and the Finwëan genetics aren’t half bad either.) He’s somewhat of an introvert and Does Not Like This but Celebrian and co find it hilarious.

Even though I usually prefer purely Noldorin Míriel because I hate the idea of certain elf tribes having "exclusive" looks, her being a distant (keyword: distant) relative of the Telerin Royal family from who she get's her iconic silver hair can also be fun. Because then I can headcanon she looks like Elwë, Eärwen, Celeborn, & Celebrían and that Finarfin, Galadriel, & Elrond literally all have the same type as Finwë and it would also mean Indis has to see Míriel's ghost even in her own descendants, as if they were meant to be Míriel's all along.

Celebrían
She was like the shine of the moonlight on the waters of the havens. Like the silver in the dew drops clinging to the blades of grass in the early morning light. She was as a well formed dagger, glinting as it descended, proud and elegant, and she plunged her way into his heart.
He knew he was bleeding out.
They could see it surely, how she had struck him, mortally, where he stood.
He couldn’t breathe.
She had stolen that too, like a well trained assassin, when her eyes met his in silent laughter.
He was wordless, and then suddenly he was awash in them. What he desired to say to her flooded his mind and his body, but most of all how he wished to beg her to remove the dagger for it was causing him trouble in breathing.
She smiled at him, and it twisted deeper, lodged in his heart, claimed its place there.
He leaned forward to beg her mercy, but instead he said;
“Welcome to Imladris, Lady Celebrían.”
