Wyatt Rebellion

The Wyatt Rebellion of January-February 1554 CE saw Sir Thomas Wyatt the Younger lead a group of several thousand Kent rebels in a march on London with the primary aim of preventing Mary I of England (r. 1553-1558 CE) from marrying Spain's Prince Philip (l. 1527-1598 CE). There was, too, the secondary aim - never openly declared - of replacing Mary with her younger half-sister Elizabeth Tudor (b. Sep. 1533 CE). The rebels were also motivated by the fall in living standards in England caused by inflation, food shortages, the decline in trade (especially of cloth), and several waves of deadly epidemics. The rebellion failed thanks to Mary's armed response and a general lack of support from the people of London. The leaders, including Wyatt, were executed and so was Mary's cousin Lady Jane Grey (b. Oct. 1537 CE) just in case she became a figurehead for future rebellions. For the same reason, Elizabeth was detained in the Tower of London. Mary then went on to vehemently persecute her enemies whom she identified as Protestant heretics, thereby earning her lasting nickname 'Bloody Mary'.

Mary I's Succession

Mary I of England had succeeded her brother Edward VI of England (r. 1547-1553 CE), although she had almost been the victim of a coup d'etat in July 1553 CE when John Dudley, the Earl of Northumberland (l. 1504-1553 CE) tried to install Mary's cousin Lady Jane Grey (1537-1554 CE) as queen. Lady Jane was Protestant and Mary Catholic so that each represented the interests of the two sides which had split England ever since Mary's father Henry VIII of England (r. 1509-1547 CE) had separated the Church in England from Rome and the Pope. As it turned out, the vast majority of nobles and the commoners preferred to honour Henry VIII's wish that Mary succeed Edward if he were without children. Legitimacy and direct ties of royal blood triumphed over any religious considerations. However, Mary convinced herself that her initial popularity was because she proposed to return her kingdom to Catholicism by reversing the English Reformation that had been ongoing under her two predecessors, starting with the First Act of Repeal of 1553 CE; she had, thought Mary, been chosen by both the people and God. However, the air of optimism that had surrounded Mary's succession was soon to become fouled by the treacherous stench of rebellion.

Did you check out the "discards" from eldritcher's Ossuarium? The Song of the Seven is the best HOTD fic I have personally read matching your criteria. Pretty intense though. Viserys/Daemon. 20K. Complete. Rated M. Even by Ossuarium's standards it's an insanely beautiful fic.

As Above, So Below. by @coffeeandorange. Also Viserys/Daemon! 5600 words. Complete. Rated E. Read the warnings on this one. I loved it. It's on the more intense side.

I feel like Rhaenicent has a lot of potential but the fics are generally on the sanitized side. But! I have a fic I loved which I am going to rec.

I know Aemond can be pretty divisive as a character but I really loved this fic. So reccing it!

I want to be honest i don't like this show for so many things, but the last episode was good.

In the end we Finally see Elizabeth 🛐🛐🛐the true Elizabeth and Alicia was Amazing. She did an amazing job. I don't like Mary in the last episodes.

PS: in the real history Elizabeth was present at the Wedding of Robert and Amy

Her father called for her own mother’s execution on false accusations of adultery and incest when she was only two years old. She was declared a bastard after that. Queen Elizabeth employed at least 70 musicians and singers. The singers included those from the Chapel Royal. 

Her favorite court composers included Thomas Campion (1567-1620), Robert Johnson (1500-1560) and William Byrd (1543-1623)

 Music was being taught in schools and Universities and the ability to play a musical instrument was an essential skill at the court of Queen Elizabeth. Queen Elizabeth was a patron of all the Arts and encouraged Elizabethan composers and musicians. 

She had been taught to play musical instruments as part of her education and was a skilled musician of the lute and the virginal.

  Nobles were expected to entertain their contemporaries and to show their prowess in dancing. Dancing was a form of exercise enjoyed by Queen Elizabeth practised every morning. Dancing was accompanied by the Court musicians.

On This Day In History . 14 September 1495 . Elizabeth Tudor died . . Elizabeth was the second daughter & fourth child of king Henry VII of England & Elizabeth of York, & sister to Henry VIII. . ⏹ Elizabeth died at Eltham Palace in Kent on 14 September 1495 at the age of three years & two months. She was brought from Eltham in state & buried on the north side of the Chapel of St. Edward the Confessor in Westminster Abbey on 27 September. . ⏹ Elizabeth was the first of four of Henry and Elizabeth's children to die prematurely & they were devastated by their loss. Her funeral cost a large sum of £318 (£155,479.74 in today's money), & the king erected a small tomb to his daughter in the abbey made from Purbeck & black marble. On top of the monument is a finely polished slab of black Lydian, upon which were placed inscriptions to Elizabeth & her effigy of copper gilt, both of which have now disappeared with time. The Latin from the inscription can be translated: . ◼ Elizabeth, second child of Henry the Seventh King of England, France & Ireland & of the most serene lady Queen Elizabeth his consort, who was born on the second day of the month of July in the year of Our Lord 1492, & died on the 14th day of the month of September in the year of Our Lord 1495, upon whose soul may God have mercy. Amen. .
