After a solid nine days of worrying me stupid, Moo is back on form.
#he had to get an IV 3 times and I had to force feed him cat yoghurt and electrolyte drink for five days#mfer could barely climb the stairs or walk without weaving from side to side#but he'd get 20ml of meowghurt down his throat and try to climb out my window and scale down the fence to go hunt bugs in the lot next door#finally shut the window and he'd brace his front paws on the window sill and stare outside forlornly like he'd been thrown in jail#it has been A Week#i now have a colitis flare from stress#Méka Mau Moo#cat mom problems#cattos#kitties

I don't think I can drink plain water as my main source of hydration tbh, cause it's just going right through me and I don't think it's getting absorbed, like there is an immense difference in when I drink just straight water and when I drink water with an electrolyte mix added, and honestly it's just annoying because if I want to hydrate myself effectively I have spend money on the electrolyte stuff and then I also have to mix it in to the water instead of just getting the water and drinking it.

its literally so unfair that water isnt enough to keep you hydrated every time i forget my electrolytes i start to feel like crap and its like oh its because i didnt put SALT and POTASSIUM in my water my bad!
#i got free samples of these electrolyte packets that have 1000mg of sodium and it tastes like drinking fruit flavoured sea water.#can't lie though they do make me feel less like a corpse.

why do i always just forget i clearly need to drink electrolytes often. i’ve been feeling like shit for a while and remembered it’s been a minute since i got a powerade or gatorade or whatever, and a week or two since i stopped eating grains of coarse salt here and there throughout the day. “it’s probably the pregabalin withdrawal” i say. “stopped eating as much salt and i’ve been fine” ???? dude what do you even mean fine? is barely able to think fine? not being able to lift your arms to tie your hair for more than like half a minute because your muscles start burning fine?? like yes sure the pregabalin withdrawal is certainly a factor but dude. this is not a new occurrence come on
like i will be in complete all-consuming despair, grieving that i can barely put two thoughts together, about to cry to the thought of having to make freaking instant ramen for dinner in like five hours because my body feels too heavy and my muscles don’t want to respond. drink a glass of gatorade and suddenly after a few minutes i believe in hope again.
i mean i still feel very much like shit and heavy and sore. but man. you can make everything so much lighter and easier with this one simple trick. if you would just [tightens fist] remember
#of course a fact of the matter is not knowing exactly why it is that electrolyte drinks just. make me feel so much more okay. physically and#mentally. cause like it’s not like i don’t keep myself hydrated otherwise#and not having a concrete answer as to why makes brain default to ‘not actually a thing that’s real’#but man for the love of fuck#mental note i need to get myself a thing of sea salt or similar

one of the greatest modern miracles is the fact that the the electrolyte drink mix industry managed to successfully market a product that tastes like the worse version of children's medicine to a bunch of image-conscious masculinity-obsessed gym bros. unfortunate that they didn't use that miracle on making an electrolyte drink mix that tastes good

Is it normal for yoga/pilates to cause pain in the lower stomach when peeing? It seems to have gone away now, but the first 24hrs after my first session was very painful.
i'm a wildlife biologist, not a human one, and should not be asked for medical advice because i run a reminders blog for my disabled self akxhsjd;;
my best guess, since i know yoga emphasizes your core, is that you pushed yourself and your muscles too hard for a first session. what are considered "core muscles" are more than just the belly muscles like i had originally thought:
your muscles, specifically perhaps those lower belly ones near the pelvic floor, were not prepped properly for the session and as your muscles did its post-exercise repair (which causes inflammation in me if i pushed myself too far), it will hurt while doing it's normal uses.
i reccomend daily light stretches for your core (like this one that focuses on balance or this one that focuses on prepping core muscles) while being sure to stay well hydrated (electrolytes really do help) & breathing (oxygen in muscles is good) during the sessions.
if the pain persists, especially if it feels like an inflammation in the urinary tract, you prob will want to get that checked by a professional
#there are also meds to treat inflammation specifically; when a specialty doc got me on stronger pain relief#my primary doctor warned me to keep taking ibuprofen during my flate ups cause that specifically reduces inflammation#sometimes after a workout where i may have accidentally pushed myself too hard cause i spaced out#i will take an ibuprofen with my next meal to prevent flare ups#but im impressed how having electrolytes in my drink helps a LOT when it comes to muscle-use pain#especially since ive heard too many horror stories of Too Much Ibuprofen lolol#asks
