Oh right, it puffs up a ton with blocking, that's what it was. Normally I'd use the thicker yarn for the toe but finer fibers aside the difference in gauge is too severe for me not to have to do math and shaping if I tried that. Plus, I definitely don't have enough for two toes, and I doubt I'd get the exact same thickness on the second miniskein of this yarn. So, accent yarn. I guess it'll probably stand out better if nothing else.

Maybe this is just me thinking everything that comes out of Joke's mouth has a double meaning, but WHAT IF he was also talking about himself in this scene?

WHAT IF, this is a reference to their mysterious history together from their freshman year? What if Joke had fallen for Zo from afar, then tried to be someone he wasn't to get close to him, but it ended up a mess (which led to the flashback scene we already saw). Then, Joke spent the next few years having to watch Zo infatuated over Nita but unable to do anything about it bcs they were not friends?

Day 11 - Run Like The Wind

Colouring is still a weaker point for me, but picking colours has never been much of an issue. The perceived effort of filling in my lines often drives me away, but once I get through that, flat colours are pretty simple.

When it comes to lighting and shading, however...I very much find myself very avoidant of it since it does require an effort from me, and too often it comes out confusing and not all that pleasant to me...but, as I set myself the goal of focusing on colours this daily year, I want to try and apply myself more in terms of lighting and shading.

Using a more dynamic pose means that there's a little more inspiration as far as lighting goes. Do I go with something Spring-inspired? Sunset-inspired? Or do I go with wintery colours like running through snow? Perhaps I could go dream-like instead? Half the challenge with lighting is the theming you wish to go for.

Sunset-style may have been a typical pick, but that just makes it all the better for practice. I've always used warmer colours, but making lighting work in my favour for it still takes some thought. It took a few attempts to find the colours and layer blending options that worked for me. Choosing to go cel-shading was a little unexpected though. Typical, but I kinda liked how it looked.

It's nice that I knew the tip not to use pure black or white except sparingly since it made for lighting up the shirt and shading the boots easy. I usually don't go for lighting at all, but I was feeling like practicing that in particular this time. It turned out better than I expected. By that, I mean easier and simpler. Always pleasant to feel that.

Third time I've seen Ebisu's death scene, but that still hurts. You can't just have his last words be "I don't want to die" and then expect me to be okay. THAT'S what I mean. The characters really affect each other. And yet even where the story is now, I really don't think Yato has any idea how much of a force for good he's already been. I don't know if he knows he's succeeded. So many characters are willing to put their lives, safety, and happiness on the line because they feel like they owe him, and I don't think he knows.

Guys I think the writing for fire emblem engage is somehow worse than fire emblem fates. Im a longtime fire emblem fan, I've played every recent game, and this... this is just Awful lmfao

Im still having plenty of fun & I have my handful of characters I love soooo much. But God fucking damn this writing is just some of the worst I've ever seen in a game

Final conclusion (since I ran out of tags): What Even Is This Fucking Game. Definitely my least favorite fire emblem game in many respects, but By God I'm going to finish this bitch and I'm gonna have plenty of fun as I do so. And I'm also going to make fun of every narrative choice it makes along the way bc the writing in this game is just SO fucking bad holy shit. I just need to finish this game and get on with my life already. God fuckin damn.)
