you look at matthéo with a soft sigh. “again?” his handsome face is spattered with blood and cuts, and there’s a dark bruise forming around his right eye. tentatively, you step forward, taking his face softly in your hands. you roll his head gently from side to side, intently assessing the damage. another sigh. “i wish you’d stop fighting every person who looks at you wrong”

matthéo grins in that devilish way he always does, leaning forward to press a chaste kiss to your lips. he immediately follows it with a soft swipe of his thumb, gathering the small smear of blood he’d left in his wake. “would you believe me if i said he deserved it?”

“they almost never deserve it, théo.”

he shrugs, settling his hands on your hips. “i tend to disagree.” then he’s tugging you swiftly against him, coaxing an involuntary little squeal from your throat. “i honestly think you would’ve swung on the poor git if you’d been there.”

you roll your eyes fondly, sliding your hands around to the back of his neck. “tell me about it while i clean you up, hm?”

matthéo grins at you tenderly, leaning forward to kiss you again. this time, he lingers a little longer, and you can taste his blood on your lips when he pulls away. “deal”

being rafe’s friend wasn’t for the faint of heart. you’re really not sure how you even ended up like this—accompanying the boys on their golf trips, claiming perpetual dibs on shotgun in rafe’s truck, even sneaking little packets of coke into parties for rafe to sell. you think you’ve just gotten used to it, when rafe or one of the other boys—though it’s usually always rafe—pulls something out of left field to surprise you.

you were their friend, but you were still a girl—even if you were completely oblivious to the way they stare at the hem of your tiny golf skirt when you’re putting. even if you get too drunk and touchy around them at the house parties, a giggly mess that has to get carried back to tannyhill with rafe. his family is suspicious, and you can’t deny the way it looks. with the amount of time you spend there, you’re practically his girlfriend. you dismiss the thought when anyone brings it up though. 

“kelce and topper slept on the floor that night. is rafe dating them too?” you laugh it off, trying to justify why you slept on the bed with rafe. later that night though, when rafe picks you up to bring you to the party, you play with the skinny straps of your dress, wondering how to tell him what you’re thinking.

he’s a good friend though—he always knows when you get like this.

“spit it out, kid. what?”

“well, i was thinking maybe i should crash at kelce’s tonight.”

“why?” he questions, like it’s the stupidest thing in the world. you don’t catch the way his grip tightens on the wheel. 

“well, last night.. everyone was saying it’s weird that i always crash at yours. and kelce always offers, he’s got that pull out bed-”

“y’not sleepin’ at kelce’s. or top’s.”

“why not?”

“‘cause i said so. don’t ask again.” and though you’re used to getting to boss rafe around, this time, you listen.

Aaaaa Ocs I've had for a while now and that really mean a lot to me !! Throwing you their character sheets I fixed in between all my shitposts !! You might recognize one from an artist I commissionned, and I said a while ago I had one favorite priest oc among all my priest.

Well there he is, Friedrich (Johann Amadeus) Engelwald and his favorite parochial gardener, Camille (Léonidas Gabriel) Lepetit A bit of lore + old !!! art of them under the cut

Friedrich is the head priest of the Sunflower Order. A church and religion based on flowers and flower language. the 'gifteds' are able to hear nature's voices and are to convey it's messages to the 'ungifteds'

Friedrich is particularly sensible to these voices and can tell how one feels deep inside only by listening to the flowers around. (yeah the flowers are snitching on you and he knows) He uses his ability to keep his favorite gardener close and wrapped around his finger. Camille -bless his heart- has more or less only had Freidrich as a close friend since they were children, and knows nothing of the world outside the monastery and cathedral's gardens, despite knowing there's a village nearby. The Lepetit family has a long line of prodigious gardeners that has served the Engelwald family for several generations. Camille started as a gardener at fifteen but knew Friedrich since they were both six.
