I have so many AU's in my head and so little energy to write them so have an OG Star Trek/Edward Scissorhands crossover I vividly hallucinated on the way to walmart today and want to write when I'm not so exhausted:
So this has the structure of an OG Star Trek episode but like the special guest is Edward. So it starts off normally with Kirk's voiceover telling his captain's log what the Mission is this episode. Said mission is to investigate weird energy readings on a planet and see if they pose any threat to the small Earth colony on the planet.
Kirk, Spock and a security team (aka redshirts) beam down to the rocky, mountainous planet and presently discover a tunnel where the energy readings are coming from. Kirk and Spock go through the tunnel and come out the other side into the verdant garden of Edward's mansion.
(rest under the cut because this got ridiculously long)
They investigate and Spock says that the tricorder readings say that this is an entirely different planet from the one they just left and that there is one life sign nearby. After investigating the garden (which even Spock comments on, leading Kirk to comment that he thought Vulcans didn't appreciate beauty, to which Spock replies that Vulcans are capable of appreciating the aesthetically pleasing without having an emotional response.)
They head inside the mansion and are surprised by the stark difference to the garden. They inspect the machines but don't know what they're for and Spock informs the captain that the life sign is on the top floor of the mansion. Since they've done this sort of thing a few times they realize this could be a trap so they retrieve the security team and also call down Bones and Scotty from the Enterprise- Scotty to see if he can get the machines in the mansion running and Bones in case anyone gets hurt.
Kirk, Spock and Bones head up to the attic. Once there they inspect the hole in the roof but all they can see out of it is the town. Kirk and Bones also find Edward's bed and look curiously at his little cutouts until Spock calls them over and tells them their mystery life sign is in the corner of the attic.
Edward is hiding in the corner like he does in the movie and they can kind of see the vague outline of a person there so Kirk gives his normal spiel introducing himself as captain of the Enterprise, on a peaceful mission, etc. Eventually he manages to coax Edward out to where they can see him.
They're less shocked at his appearance than Peg was but they're still surprised. Bones scans him from a safe distance and confirms the tricorder readings that said Edward is kind of human. Kirk questions Edward and they manage to learn his name and that he was created in the castle by his father and that he's been alone since his father died and he hasn't gone down into the town because he's "not finished". Edward is just as nervous meeting people for the first time as he is meeting Peg in the movie.
They're interrupted by a bang from downstairs and Scotty yelling that he got the machine working. Kirk asks Edward if he knows what the machine is and Edward tells him it makes cookies. Bones is skeptical. Spock mutters "fascinating" as he continues to fiddle with the tricorder. Kirk convinces Edward to come downstairs with them.
Kirk sends the security team outside so as not to freak Edward out any more than need be. Edward and Scotty are slightly alarmed at the sight of each other but Edward is quickly distracted by his father's machine actually working. Scotty confirms that it is a machine for making cookies.
Kirk asks Spock and Bones for their analysis of the situation and Spock informs them that they have not only traveled in space, but time and that they are currently on Earth in the mid 20th century (again) and that the portal between the two places will close in about an hour.
Kirk then asks what they think of Edward. Bones says he must be some kind of android and that while he looks like a man Edward obviously has the mind and understanding of a child. Spock adds that it's impressive that an inventor in the 1900's was able to make such a creature. Kirk is reluctant to leave Edward behind all alone because of his childlike nature but Spock reminds him that they're in the past and that taking Edward to the Enterprise could have dangerous consequences to the timeline. So Kirk orders him to go back to Enterprise and check history to see if Edward ever leaves the castle and if taking him could affect anything.
A little while later Spock contacts them and explains that if they leave Edward he'll eventually go down to the town, live there a few months and then be chased out by the townsfolk and subsequently killed in an altercation with them and that there's no other records of Edward that the computer or Spock can find. Kirk concludes that removing Edward from the timeline would have a negligible effect but Spock reminds him that it could have unexpected consequences. Bones adds that they don't know why the townspeople chased Edward away either and that it could be because he turned violent. They look over at Edward, who is currently sitting on the floor next to his father's cookie machine, holding a heart sugar cookie and looking sad. Kirk gives Bones a look that says, "Really? You sure about that?" and then goes over to talk to Edward.
Kirk asks Edward if he'd like to live with other people and of course the poor lonely boy says yes. Kirk tells him that Edward could come with them to Enterprise and that they could find a home for him with other people- and give him proper hands too. Edward is very excited at the idea of this, but Bones adds that Edward would never be able to come back to the mansion, he'd be leaving forever. Edward is sad at the idea of that, but he still wants to come with them.
So when the group leaves they take Edward with them. Edward is anxious and a little reluctant to go through the portal and gives one last look to his garden, but Kirk calls to him and after a moment Edward follows. The portal closes behind him.
The security team is beamed up first and Edward freaks out a little when they just disappear. Scotty tries to explain the transporter to him and Bones grumbles about having his atoms rearranged.
Once Edward is on the ship he's pretty overwhelmed. Kirk sends him with Bones to sickbay to get checked out and promises to come get Edward and show him his new quarters (he has to explain what "quarters" are) after the ship is underway.
Bones gives Edward a medical exam and reports to Kirk when he comes down to sickbay. Bones is... a little surprised and unnerved by Edward's anatomy and the fact that he's not just partially mechanical but that he's made up of such weird old mechanical bits (I took some pictures of the Inventor's sketches for Edward's body from the movie and I'm pretty sure this kid has a bellows for lungs HOW does that work???). He also reports on Edward's mental state and reiterates that Edward has a very childlike understanding of most things, but that he seems perfectly intelligent and can read and do things like basic math. He's still not sure if bringing Edward here was a good idea.
We then go back to Kirk's captain's log comments where he talks about the next few days and Edward settling in to being on the ship. The crew, for the most part, likes Edward and pretty much everyone is endeared by how sweet and polite he is. Kirk notes however that unlike other times when things like this have happened it seems to be perfectly natural and organic and Edward is definitely not manipulating anything. They plan to leave Edward on an Earth colony planet with the means to craft him normal hands and integrate him into society.
Edward is happy to be on the ship and with people. He's easily startled and overwhelmed and incredibly sensitive and not at all violent. In fact, on the rare occasion someone yells at him/gets annoyed/angry he'll retreat and apologize and sometimes panic and hide. The crew quickly figures out he's basically a child and treats him as such (but like, the way you SHOULD treat children, not in a demeaning way like the neighbors in the movie). He pops up in random places sometimes, like engineering and the bridge, but they're pretty sure he just gets lost sometimes and ends up there because he'll just stand in one spot and look wide eyed and lost until someone tells him what to do. He's basically the least problematic outsider they've ever had on the ship.
And then, a week or so after Edward comes on board, a dead crewman is found, stabbed through the heart.
Instantly, Edward is under suspicion. And, like, for good reason this time, like, they never bring anyone on this ship without having problems it's a theme.
They call Edward to sickbay where Kirk questions him. Edward isn't sure what's going on but he answers truthfully. Kirk shows him the body of the dead crewman and asks Edward if he knows him and Edward says he doesn't. Edward asks what's wrong with the man and Bones replies that he's dead. Edward asks Bones if he can fix him and Bones snaps at him that no, he can't, dead is dead and it would take an act of God to bring a dead person back, and then he very pointedly adds that when you stab someone through the heart that kills them. (Bones thinks that Edward killed the man, and that the townspeople drove him out on Earth because he hurt/killed someone.)
Edward is shocked and frightened by Bones' tirade, and at the end of it he very quietly states that that's what happened to his father. Kirk feels bad and tells him he can go.
Kirk and Bones argue about this; Bones doesn't think Kirk should let Edward freely roam the ship because he might become violent and hurt someone. Kirk argues that Edward has done nothing violent so far and seems innocent. Bones says that Edward's innocence might be the problem, that Edward might not even know he has the ability to kill someone and that he might have done it for the first time on accident... but he might do it a second time on purpose. Kirk just doesn't believe Edward had anything at all to do with the first murder.
A tense couple of days pass. People are more nervous and hostile around Edward now, though a fair number of the crew still believe he's innocent. Edward keeps following Spock around because Spock doesn't get angry with him. Spock is trying to teach him to play chess. Edward is not very good at it. (Spock would never admit it but he feels a bit of a connection with Edward- he understands being half human but not being able to understand or fit in with them)
Three days after the murder the bridge gets a panicked, one word message from Edward, "Help". They find him in a corridor standing over the body of a woman crewmember with blood on his hands. Edward tells them "I didn't mean to". The woman has been stabbed.
She is still alive this time though and is rushed to sickbay. Edward is confined to quarters. Kirk and Spock go to sickbay where Bones informs them that he thinks he can save the woman but he has to do surgery immediately. He berates Kirk for not locking Edward up sooner but Kirk thinks that things don't add up. After all, why would Edward stab someone and then call for help?
Spock agrees with Kirk that they're missing something and offers to do a mind-meld to find out what really happened. Bones says that they can't do it with the crewwoman because he has to take her into surgery, to which Spock replies that he meant he'd mind meld with Edward. Kirk asks if that's possible since Edward is part machine and Spock says they'll find out.
They go to Edward's quarters and find him sitting against the wall in a corner with his knees against his chest, crying. He's overwrought and tries to apologize and Kirk tells him they're here to find out what really happened. Spock explains, in basic terms, what a mind meld is and asks Edward if he's willing to try it. Edward agrees and they do the mind meld.
Spock learns that Edward was walking down a corridor when he heard voices shouting and went to try and see what was going on/help. He found a man with a knife raised, poised to stab to the injured crewwoman. Edward ran forward to try and help and, while he couldn't prevent the woman from getting stabbed he did chase the man away by running into him and accidentally cutting him- which was how the blood got on his hands. Realizing the woman was dying, Edward panicked and called the bridge for help.
Armed with this new information Kirk and Spock now know that Edward is innocent, but they now need to catch their true murderer. Kirk comes up with a plan to trap the man and prove Edward's innocence- but it involves putting Edward in danger. Basically, they assume that the killer will want to get rid of Edward now that Edward's seen him and so Kirk figures that they can trap the man by using Edward as bait. He explains this to Edward and tells him they'll come up with a different plan if he doesn't want to do it, but Edward agrees- he doesn't want anyone else put in danger and he, kind of, in a way, sees himself as expendable.
Kirk and Spock leave Edward's quarters but stay nearby with a security team and wait. Maybe an hour or so later the murderer arrives and goes into Edward's room where he confronts Edward and attacks him. Kirk, Spock and the security officers then rush into the room to apprehend the man, but he's gone mad and a madman is powerful. Luckily so is the Vulcan neck pinch and they manage to subdue him. Edward is injured but not badly, he's more just shaken and traumatized by everything.
Everything turns out alright; the crewwoman recovers, the murderer is put in the brig, and Edward's innocence is proved.
Later, Kirk questions the murderer and discovers that the man had personal grudges against the two people he attacked and that he'd been planning to kill them for a long time, Edward just gave him the perfect excuse to finally go through with his plan. Kirk is disgusted and a little unnerved. As he leaves the brig, Spock appears and tells him that he ran the murderous crewman's name through the computer and discovered that he is the descendant of the man Edward would have killed had he stayed in the proper timeline. They have a somewhat existential discussion about how history still demanded a life be taken and this was the way history righted itself and Kirk is upset that his actions caused the death of one of his crew and wonders if he did the right thing.
And then Edward appears and smiles at them and asks Spock if they can play chess and Kirk decides that he still made the right choice.
The End
Bonus scene/story to go with this: Enterprise takes Edward to some specialized medical facility and he gets his hands and shows them and he's all excited to go on adventures with them now and no one has the heart to tell him they were gonna just leave him (no, not even Spock, the main guys probably go through passing the potential conversation to the next until it stops on Spock and Spock's like "I believe the captain wishes me to relay that he has put in a request to Starfleet to allow you to join the crew." and Kirk is like "WHAT- I mean, of course, yes, right-" and Edward's just so happy and delighted. Kirk sends a message to Starfleet like "Listen you have to let me keep him. Someone will ADOPT him if necessary but not even my Vulcan science officer can bear to break his little mechanical heart by telling him he has to leave so he's a part of my crew now. I've stopped 27 universe-ending disasters in the past week, you have to give me this.") so they just. keep Edward. And he's just a little guy who hangs out on Enterprise and they teach him how to run parts of the ship.

The crazy woman in the attic
She glides silently across the deck, a pale spectre draped in a flowing white gown that flutters in a breeze no one feels. Her bare feet make no sound on the worn wooden planks, and her greasy, oil slicked hair streams behind her like seaweed caught in the gloomy moonlight. The ship groans softly beneath her, as if remembering something lost.
Her face is turned slightly downward, eyes shadowed yet distant, fixed on a point far beyond the ship’s railing—as though watching a horizon that no longer exists. A dark shadow clings to her, faint and unearthly, casting a melancholy sheen over the deck and leaving a trail of cold in her wake.
Sometimes, she pauses by the helm, resting a translucent hand on the wheel. Other times, she lingers by the lifeboats, lips moving in a silent litany. Always alone. Always searching.
The fog thickens when she appears, muffling the world into stillness, and though the sea may churn and the stars may shift, she walks on—eternally adrift in the ghost-light hours, a memory carved into the bones of the ship.
One of my favourite fiction novels is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I love this gothic tale of female empowerment, secrets, romance and mystery. I studied it for A Level English Literature in Sixth form college back in the day and I have loved it ever since. I think this is because in my early teens I read novels by English author Catherine Cookson. These were romance novels set in the 19th century North-east of England and involved the upper and lower classes living in the manor estates or the slums of Newcastle respectively. These books were later turned into ITV dramas, for example, Sean Bean from Game of Thrones fame appeared in the Gambling Man in 1995. Many British actors got their big breaks appearing in Catherine Cookson dramas. My favourite one is The Glass Virgin that starred Emily Mortimer and Brendan Coyle. Mortimers character Annabella finds out she is the bastard daughter of a prostitute after being raised as a lady all her whole life. She is forced to leave the manor house with dashing groom Manuel (Coyle) by her side and work on a farm. The two eventually fall in love and Annabella reckons with her past. I especially like this one as it gives a romanticized notion that a big, strong, man will sweep in to save you. At thirteen, I found that idea appealing. Alas, dear reader I was too young yet to have discovered feminism.
Enter Jane Eyre, or 'plain Jane' her cruel cousins and aunt called her. Part of my A Level study was analysing whether Jane was plain, or she believed it due to being called plain her entire life. This is the kind of bullying I find abhorrent to this day. Jane eventually grows up after much maltreatment and a tough stint at a school for orphans, she takes a position at Thornfield Hall. She there meets the charming Edward Rochester. Here's me squealing in my tracks! Aha, a love story! How wonderful. This I can get on board with. Oh, it will be like the Sound of Music - minus the Nazi's. Rochester and Jane will go skipping off into the sunset singing Climb Every Mountain.
Our survey says - loud buzzer! Negative. Spoiler alert, there is something more sinister lurking above Jane every night. The floorboards creak with increasing intensity and Jane spots things from the corner of her eye. Edward reassures her she is imagining things and Thornfield is not haunted. Gaslighting 101 from our male lead. I still do not know what is going, but Jane is freaked out, and so am I. Why can’t Rochester be honest to Jane about what is really going on with his wife? Why all the lies and secrecy that literally ends up with Rochester losing his sight. There are consequences to your actions, Rochester.
Onto Eloise's instalment of the Bridgeton books 'To Sir Phillip, With Love." I love this book as I find book Eloise quirky and funny and Sir Phillip dark and mysterious enough to be unbelievingly sexy. I am going to spoil to fifth book here briefly, and by proxy the show. Let us talk about Marina. Oh, Marina. We last saw the universally loathed character of TV show Marina 'happily' wed to her dead lover's brother Phillip, after Colin makes a visit to Romney Hall to settle his 'unfinished business'. Marina is suffering from what I suspect is post-natal depression, possibly post-natal psychosis and the fact she does not love Phillip. Colin is too absorbed in himself to really understand the nuance of what is going on here and only really hears the word 'Penelope' that makes his head whip around like someone offered him a million pounds. The Nile is a river in Egypt, Mr Bridgerton (cough, Newton). In the books (spoiler) some years after the birth of her twins and the death of her love George, Marina dons a red dress and walks through the ghostly, morning mist and wanders directly into the estate’s lake. Sir Philip rescues her, but it is too late. She dies from fever a few days later.
Marina is dead and I'm assuming the producers of Bridgerton will go down this route in the show as the actress Ruby Barker has her own well documented mental health struggles as well as criticism of Shondland and does not want to be involved in the series. But the spectre of her will always be there, won't she? Eloise has no idea what she is walking into in the aftermath at Romney Hall with 'the ghost' of Marina floating about, emotionally at the very least. Colin and Penelope still have some unresolved issues when it comes to their relationship on the show and how Lady Whistledown saved Colin's ass from the fate of being married to a pregnant woman who tried to trap him into a loveless marriage. I'm sure some of this will be addressed shortly within the show, because frankly Colin should be kissing the ground Pen walks on and I'm sure she does occasionally make him do that.
I find that with Luke and Nicola, art literally imitates life. You can't make it up sometimes. Whether you think of Antonia as Marina - the ghost that wanders around the manor driving an invisible emotional wedge between them. Or Mrs Rochester, the crazy, vengeful woman in the attic who burns down the house. Or Cressida, the blackmailer, who wants money and infamy in exchange for silence. There are many possibilities to choose from. Even as I type this, Antonia is up to some shizz on social media, and I am determined to find out what is going on.
There has been a curious timeline of events since January 30th when Luke appeared out of the blue with Antonia after not being seen with her since July 2024 in Sorrento, where he left alone and two days before the holiday was meant to end. I still remember the shock of that night and thinking what the hell. We have examined Luke’s behaviour, demeanour and aura that night until the cows come home, and I do not intend to rehash old blog posts, however the whole thing really felt like an orchestrated PR set up pushed specifically by Antonia’s team (her parents) and a situation Luke was forced into. His ‘let’s get this done’ comment was a statement sniggered at by Lukola’s all over the world.  As well as witnessing Luke hand swatting Antonia’s hand away as they walked into the event.
Prior to this event, on 20th January 2025, Nicola and Jake papped photographs were released on the ‘carrot walk’ stroll. All of us Lukola’s laughed hysterically about that at the time. It staged and Nicola and Jake thought it was funny too. But what if this was a calculated strike by Luke and Nicola’s PR teams to take some heat of the impending shit show that was coming up with Luke and Antonia ten days later. I think that failed as everyone and their mother was shocked and horrified to see a angry Luke drag out a terrified and stricken looking Antonia. I always thought Antonia would smirk and gloat and relish to be seen with Luke again. Her behaviour seemed so anxious and peculiar; it almost seems as if she was forced into the appearance herself. I will return to this point shortly.
One month later 18th February Luke was solo papped in Kensington in London taken by papazzi photographer Josh Mawr, incidentally the same pap who took the carrot stroll pics of Nicola and Jake. The photos were shared by Deux Moi.  The fandom breathed a sigh of relief, he was alone. He was also alone at the Valentine’s Day event the week before. But he had not been without Antonia at the BAFTA after Party on Sunday 16th February. There was lots of speculation again about Luke’s ambivalent behaviour towards Antonia at this event also. Luke made a point of sharing to his SM that he left the event alone but got into a pasta bed and watched Love Island. Unfortunately, the fandom associate pasta with Antonia. I think we have pasta PTSD. But we also associate Love Island with Nicola, and her love for reality TV. What message was Luke trying to convey here?
Then we had the glory of the SAGS. The whole world was captivated by Luke and Nic and I honestly think after the event, Nicola panicked and went into her default setting of oh shit. We got some suspicious sightings of Antonia suddenly in the LA hotel that appeared to be old and the ‘buddy’ narrative from Nicola. Then Nicola follows Antonia on Instagram. The earth shook. This can’t be right, right? It’s a joke? Antonia eagerly follows her back. I don’t like to pit women against each other, but to me these screams keep you friends close, but your frenemies closer. Also, PR/contract obligation. Antonia gains some new followers, not many and seems to have a bit of actual work going on around the time.
Here comes the big kicker. On 18th March, Luke and Antonia are papped running errands. Antonia looks like she just rolled out of bed and Luke looks like he needs to take something for constipation. He’s also seen picking his nose and looking like rather be anywhere else in the world. Who was the paparazzi I hear you ask? None other than Josh Mawr. Third time lucky, eh Josh? These paparazzi pictures did Luke and Antonia no favours. But as someone just pointed out to me, patterns be patterning. Most appearances from the adjacents or paparazzi shots seem to be around the middle of the month.
A few days later on 21st March, Luke is spotted at his friend Young Blud’s Concert. A fan releases a photo of a furious looking Luke, with Antonia seemingly walking towards him. I have heard from sources a few things about what happened that night, but I cannot share those here. I can confirm that Antonia left the event after Young Blud’s set of four songs and Luke did not. It is interesting to note that the next day, Nicola was seen in the same area of Kensington where Luke was solo papped having a photo with a fan in a juice bar four minutes away from where Luke was papped.
Fast forward to this weekend, yes that right Saturday 19th April and we get a photo of Luke posing in Cyprus with the owner of the restaurant of where Antonia’s father is a chef. There is a lot of speculation about what might be going on here and analysing Luke’s face and clothes etc. Whether recent or not, Antonia is still NOT in the photo. She is still not allowed to post him. She is back to her old tricks of implying she is with him. Yesterday, she posted a selfie with a friend at the same restaurant where Luke was photographed on Saturday. Luke’s photo was shared by the restaurant, and he was tagged in it, as well as Bridgerton UK. How odd that the restaurant where Antonia’s father works at shares a publicity photo of Luke and tags Bridgerton as well? Not suspicious at all. Luke does not accept the tag. Then Antonia goes on a posting spree of random shit. But still no Lukey. How pathetic after over a year, you can’t publicly post your ‘boyfriend’. You push Luke and he pushes back harder. I do not think Luke’s PR team was involved with this as the post is still up and the comments towards Luke are not favourable. It’s all messy and weird and becoming an increasing headache. I also think Antonia’s parents have huge involvement here. They have gotten their pound of flesh out of Luke and for Luke’s sake, I sincerely hope he’s run for the hills and back to the cliffs of Dover.
Whenever I write a blog post, shit tends to hit the fan. I might very well be tempting fate here. There is a pre-Bafta party tonight in London that Luke and Nicola are expected to attend. I am bracing myself for what we will see. I hope it is another SAGS love fest and we will all be rejoicing, as Nic and Luke deserve it. Dragging along adjacents would be a stupid thing to do. I have been criticised again for insisting so strongly that Jake is gay. It is my opinion, but I am simply warning the Jakola’s because the press is coming up for What it feels like for a girl and it is already known to be an all queer cast. I have noted with some wry amusement, whereas previously the Jakolas insisted Jake was straight, now they are saying he is bisexual, and they are holding onto this for dear life. He could be, I do not know Jake. But from looking at his Instagram, I just don’t think he is. But I do agree, it is for Jake to tell us his truth and I’m sure that he will in the next few weeks.
My question is why is Luke so obsessed with keeping his Mrs Rochester a secret? What is Luke hiding in the attic? What is worth all this trouble? Is he protecting his Jane Eyre? We have seen Luke happy and this isn’t it. Granted it is only snapshots in time, but those snaps tell a story.
‘The night - its silence - its rest, was rent in twain by a savage, a sharp, a Shirley sound that ran from end to end of Thornfield Hall.'" Description of Bertha, Jane Eyre.
PS. I did not call into work sick the other day because someone made a nasty comment on YT btw, I was upset going to work and had to calm myself down before going in. I am only human.
PPS. I can see that Jake is getting ready for an event now. I can feel a headache coming already.

The Fangs 1
Portgas D. Ace x reader
2,
Warnings: Sad
Soulmate au
-----------------------------------
Deep down in Impel Down Ace sat chained. He and Jimbei whispered about old times. It wouldn't be long until a war broke out to save Ace. And it pained him deeply. The thought of getting executed was even worse since the soulmate he never met would meet the same end. "This sucks. My soulmate is gonna die because of my recklessness," Ace whispered.
"It's easy to go out and risk your life when you never met them, but when you sit here, you sure feel guilty," Jimbei answered with a frown evident on his face. "I don't think my soulmate would like me," Ace said out of nowhere. "And why is that?" Jimbei asked. "A lot hate, having a pirate as a soulmate, but I have one more card that would make them hate me even more." Ace simply explained, thinking of the devil's blood inside of him.
Time skip
Ace sat worried in his chains for Luffy. He was in Impel Down, and he was currently getting exported to Marineford. "YOU'RE KIDDING!!!!!" The marine responsible for the ship yelled. He smashed the den den mushi and angrily stomped away. Was it news about his brother or Pops?
Something's wrong. We should have been at Marineford a long time ago. And why are they all looking at me like that?
Fire Fist Ace died before execution. For unknown reasons. "We don't know what happened he just died." Everyone turned their attention to Luffy, Ace was dead, and they hadn't even reached Marineford yet. The den den mushi on their stolen ship had sent out the news so every Marine would know. "I want you all to continue the plan anyway. This is a good chance to take down Whitebeard." After that sentence, the den den mushi lay up.
Luffy fell to his knees. 'No,' Echoed in his head. It felt like time paused, and the world around him became blurry. Luffy couldn't hear the scream he let out. He couldn't hear anything. All the memories he had of Ace flowed like a river in his mind. He had lost the only brother he had. He had nothing. Ivan watched in horror as Luffy began destroying stuff and hitting himself. He gave himself wounds. His cry and pain affected everyone on the ship.
Jimbei had talked some sense into Luffy, and now he stood next to Whitebeard in Marineford. "Did you get the news?" Luffy asked. "What news?" Edward asked. "Ace is, . . . .  Ace is, . . . . . He's dead." Luffy pressed out of him. Whitebeard's eyes widened. He had thought it was weird that Ace wasn't on the execution platform. But the damn Marines refused to tell them where he was.
"Jimbei stepped up and told how they had received the news." It was not often, but sometimes people died out of the blue simply because their soulmate had.
It was a dark war. It felt empty and pointless. But everyone fought. When the red-haired pirates arrived, it finally ended. But it was already too late. The news of Luffy being Dragon's son had made it almost impossible for Luffy to escape since he was the main target. He got away thanks to Jimbei, but not without a wound, a painful reminder of his meaningless efforts.
It wasn't long until everybody knew just what a horrible war it had been, the Revolutionary Army, Kaido, Big Mom, Dawn Island, the other pirates of the first generation, and Luffy's crew. The war of the best was a tragedy, Whitebeard's last words had made the pirate era grow.
"Why am I here?"

HAPPY DAVECHELLA EVERYONE! CROZIER LIST HAS ME IN A FUCKING GRIP! Although I don't bring to you Crozier's list, who's already been released (tho pls go check out some of my other posts, a crazy thing happened with the crozier playlist for me & this playlist project), I am bringing ice masters Blanky & Reid and honorary Tom Hartnell!! Plus the ships boys, minus Golding who was released in oops all mutineer camp. Tom Hartnell is dedicated to my dearest companion, my heart & light <3 Also pls note John Hartnell's playlist from midweek is mirrored and connected to Tom's! I'll be going more in depth with this potentially with a creators commentary video.
I had a blast making all of these playlists, and this playlist event in general means so much to me. It's so cool and it's cool to see others making playlists! I truly and deeply thank anyone who's checked any of these playlists out <3

I've waxed lyrical before about the significance of beaches in OFMD a lot and now on my S2 rewatch, that theme is powerful. It's the place where the land and the sea meet, where two binaries overlap and blend together, where two worlds collide.
The fact that Stede and Ed's first kiss happens on a beach is So Much because Ed was told by Chauncey that "he's from my world, not yours". Here they are, caught somewhere between their worlds, not quite part of either anymore. (also, ware the Symbolic Sky! It has meaning)
Tumblr media
Ed faces another big life choice right by that same place. He could have run on his own, but instead, this is when he returns to the ship, sliding back into the well worn rut that has been his life for decades. He tries to change it, but it doesn't end well.
Tumblr media
And of course, the very next episode, Stede's own struggle with himself and his identity is (partially) resolved and he takes his first steps into his new life on a beach as well.
Tumblr media
ngl, I adore the fact they started S2 with Stede on a beach again. There's an element of him trying to make up for his departure in 1x09. Ed told him to meet him at the beach and in their reunion, in Stede's wishful fantasy, not only is it a beach, but at a romantic golden sunset.
Tumblr media
More significantly, they meet right on the tideline, where sea and land meet, the boundary between the two places. Not on the dry sand. Not in the sea. Right in the middle. Two worlds colliding again :)
The fact we jump from Stede's dream to Stede running to a real beach to write his letters and send his love out into the waves makes me think all his time spent at the beach is him trying to make amends again for the leaving Ed waiting for him on the beach alone.
Tumblr media
Then we get into the metaphysical in Ed's purgatory, where Edward Teach, born on a beach, is found washed up on the tideline. Boundaries, liminal spaces, places that are both there and not. A perfect image of a space between living and death for a man who spent a life at sea.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two conversations there also happen on the beach:
- Ed trying to get some kind of reaction about the stuff he's done and trying to articulate (but not aloud) that he feels bad about it - Ed realising exactly where he is and the choice ahead of him and how his actions impact on it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm a bit uncertain whether the fisherman sequence is a sea channel or a river, but either way, Ed ends up standing on the bank, contemplating life-stuff again (and compares himself to a wave again). He does end up on the water's edge a lot, whether on the shore or on docks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now we get to the big one - when he stops running from himself and chooses to reclaim his leathers and fight for the man he loves, where else could he emerge but at the place where boundaries blur and binaries are lost in the seafoam?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's so much going on with the symbolism of Stede throwing his love in the sea and Ed doing the same with fears/hopes, but this moment, when Ed has reclaimed what he cast aside and emerged from the sea, determined and ready to act, Stede's love is there waiting for him 😍
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something something both of them meeting in the same space, but it's a space with no boundaries or blurring or misunderstanding, because they're both finally on the same page (and also not a super wet beach so Rhys wouldn't hurt his ankle again 😅)
Tumblr media
Got to say given the significance of the beach in the Gravy Basket and this being almost exactly the same beach, I Am Sus, especially re. Izzy's fate. (Yes, I know, filming here was a technical thing, but I am always sus with a show with canon resurrections, ghosts and purgatory)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, of course, the final beach, where Edward Teach is reborn to try and live how he wants to live instead of how life tells him to. Will it go smooth? Of course not. But they're gonna give it a go and still be close to that place that was home as well.
Tumblr media
And last, but by no means least, this shot.
Tumblr media
So, several fun facts:
our man is buried at the boundary of land and sea
old myths have seagulls as the souls of the dead
psychopomps (guides for the souls of the dead, often in animal/bird form) lead souls across boundaries
Buttons in love with the sea
a Sea Goddess is part of our lore- Calypso - who's name means "hiding the knowledge"
the Gravy Basket was about knowledge hidden in plain sight
"that's what I learned in the basket"
TLDR: seawitch who knows the basket from his own past experience in it and loves the Sea (goddess) here to guide soul out the basket

The Loose Ends
Pathfinder Pirate Campaign Character Reflection
Session 18-19
Context: We finally made it the ball we've all anticipated so much, but everything went wrong. We got what we came for -the obsidian amulet- without a hitch. That wasn't the problem. The problem was Piper's supposed forbidden lover, Viktor, showed up, and revealed was actually her husband. Eventually he revealed he wasn't a man at all. He was the Man in Yellow, Piper's patron, and the BBEG of our campaign. The session ended with the Ghost Captain's return, the reveal that our Captain was the legendary Diego Vasquez from centuries ago, and his subsequent beheading before we could save him.
Content Warnings: Death, grief, death of father, death of father figure
~
I’ve only screamed like this one other time in my life. Howling. Primal. Not fearful. Not mournful. Angrily. Furiously. Righteously. My world is gold.
As I ran through the streets, the scroll bitter in my mouth, I didn’t know what my plan was. Just get to the ship. Just get it away from her. My feet bring me to the Captain’s doors. My distrust of him was fading away. I found myself turning to him more and more. I wanted to go to him, to place my confidence in him, and his in me. Maybe I just wanted him to look at me like Captain Thorne did.
The scroll confirmed what he and Vida already suspected: Piper serves the Man in Yellow, knowingly or not. And now Edward… I didn’t mean for him to read it. Everything happened so fast. It was all getting so big, so out of hand. And Piper was holding something back, as much as I wanted to believe the opposite. It was getting harder and harder to ignore.
And the Watch… the Watch was accusing me, I knew it in my heart. Something was wrong, but again, I lied to myself, told myself they would take care of everything. But they looked at me, all of these familiar faces, ones I had drank with, celebrated with, served with, looked at me like I was a traitor. How in the hells could they think I would do this to my own people, my family?
Finally we’re at the ball we’ve anticipated so much, the stakes are so high, and I can’t focus. I’m so angry and confused, and I don’t know these peoples’ dances and pleasantries. I realize how out of place I am, and it only fuels my anxieties. I’m about to burst at Piper, when he approaches, and calls her “wife.
Ever since the conversation with the captain, after the stalker in the tent- No. No, I’m lying to myself, and I can’t keep doing it. Ever since Piper first told us her story, I knew something was off, something was missing. She did not give us the whole story, but I left it alone, convinced myself she was young, naïve, lost. I let it blind me. The façade, the lie I was telling myself, finally comes crumbling down. Not only was she withholding, the tale she wove for us was entirely untrue. She was lying from the very first, she who I had called “sister.”
Edward slips me the amulet, the thing that brought us here, and it gives me a welcome distraction. I must find the Captain and Vida. I search and I search and I search. They’ve slipped into the crowd somehow, away from me. I glance up and see Piper on the balcony, standing with a man draped in yellow, and the Captain’s voice is in my ears, commanding us to leave. A familiar feeling washes over me. I let the adrenaline take me, and I make for the doors we entered through, but stop cold when I see him, his sword plunged through the Captain’s chest.
“Diego.”
It’s as if time freezes. In that moment, that split second, everything comes together. The puzzle before us, of which we only had the frame, suddenly filling up. The pieces slot together. The Captain, Vasquez, Piper, the King in Yellow, the Watch, their accusations, the demons, the picture becoming fuller. There’s just a few pieces missing: Us.
The blade comes down before I can complete the puzzle.
I’ve only screamed like this one other time in my life. Only once before, when they dragged me from my father’s room when he slipped through my fingers.
My throat rips and tears, the amulet hot and sharp against my chest. I roar. I bellow. My eyes and my heart burn, and my world is gold.

19 sessions in, and we're just getting started. Feel free to send me any questions!

Did free windows 11 tech support yesterday. I feel like everything right now is labor performance art with no real point for Linkedin and the political elite. Had to fix a computer in Michigan as a third party with a vague description and no error message. Turned out to be that it was shipped with a windows update that hadn't completed. But yeah I'm only really qualified to stock women's shoes. Got the call right as the Creator's credits rolled. I had stopped three fourths the way because of pacing but the plot resolved it for me. I thought they were going to go all cyber pregnancy on me. Didn't realize Gareth Edwards did Rogue One but it makes sense tonally. Home alone all holiday. Meeting with the parents separately next week after the fact. Staying home for New Year's. I'm not as sad about it as I am just tired of making excuses for the broader narrative. I don't think people have jobs right now because they're qualified for anything. Only because they're part of something. I generally think AI as an industry is as big a fraud as crypto. It has real implications for factory work for certain. But judging from all the marketing spam I get on linked in I think it's creating an ever-present surveillance economy. Your neighbor walks out in a bright orange beanie then two seconds later LA Apparel texts you about a free beanie if you pay shipping. I guess publicis groups needs to turn our apartment building into an industrial office park. Work from home sucks when you use your neighbors as test subjects. Everything feeding back into each other to target you behaviorally to spend more money through guilt, shame and impulse is a real problem. You're never good enough unless you are broke, in debt or easily manipulated. And if you keep your money to yourself then people have to figure out a way to shame you out of it. It's crazy to see the bank talking more about the dangers of impulse surveillance targeting than the government. But the government is broke. Much less a threat than robots treating people more humanely than actual people. As for the value of work? I don't really feel much value at all as a real person in the real world. But that doesn't make me feel alone. It's a waste of time and money to try to compete with a world that does even know itself emotionally. I still need to pay the bills at some point. Which is why I haven't "shut my laptop" for the rest of the year. Trying to get my resume out there even if it's a lost cause. Somebody has to hire me at some point. I still have to finish my first run through with Elden Ring for Christmas. I would have preordered that Blaidd figure but it's forty dollars with shipping. Kind of fucked up the two figures you would offer are ones that want to kill you. I'll wait for Ranni or Melina.

"But he means... something to Ed. My man has already lost enough, I don't want him losing anyone else... Even if that someone is a pain in the ass in the unfun kind of way." Killian grumbled then glared at his crewman for teasing him about getting drunk. "Well what the fuck else am I supposed to do while I wait?! The bite isn't even that big..."
Two more unpleasant hours go by and once the nasty critters were removed and his leg wrapped up in some fresh bandages Killian had headed back to his cabin for awhile. He sobered up and worked out their heading before going to find Smee, thankfully with the helmsman. "Smee, prepare to set sail to Havana. We need to get some proper supplies before we cross the Atlantic. I want to be moving with the tide by dusk so get everyone aboard the ship that's coming with us." Killian ordered then headed back down to check on Edward to see if he was awake yet.
Tumblr media
Killian is taken aback by the other man's words, he couldn't deny that. Blackbeard was what had gotten his interest to begin with, had caught his attention, but it was Edward not Blackbeard that made him want to stay. It was frustrating at the same time, if he had loved all sides of Edward he wouldn't have tried so hard to push away the gentler side.
The younger captain was raising the bottle ready to throw it at the man for touching Edward, at that same moment the doctor had returned and intervened. Killian lowered the bottle and took a sip from it, his eyes watching as the other moves away and offers him what he was widdling. Killian reaches out with two fingers to grab it's tail while still holding the bottle.
"And I bite back, he loves it." He said and stuck his tongue out at Izzy as he left. He took a moment to look at the shark and thought what an ass thing to give someone who had been bitten by a shark. But at the same time Killian loved sharks despite what happened, he'd keep it. Tucking the fooden figure away he drank the rest of his brandy. "Thanks for shooing him out, I hate having him aboard." He lifts the bottle and the last drops hit his tongue, a long whine leaving him. Killian pouts and hugs the empty bottle, mourning that it was all gone.

So no pressure at all intended, but am I allowed to ask for Appalachian!Eddie headcanons? Or Steddie headcanons with a ✨️ sprinkle ✨️ of Appalachian!Eddie? Or Appalachian Munson Family headcanons! You've awoken a beast in me that craves this version of Eddie. 🥰
Yes, of course!! I'm physically incapable of shutting up about this, so you giving me an excuse to talk about it is wonderful. I'm going to take this in a slightly different direction and talk about all the Munson Family Lore (TM) that I couldn't necessarily fit into the first chapter of the big ass Eddie backstory, but it is all canon in my brain and my little universe.
(I promise I'm working on getting chapter 2 up!)
Anyway, in no particular order, have some of My Thoughts (started out as family lore and devolved into Steddie. I'm all over the place, it seems!):
Both of Eddie's parents are originally from West Virginia.
They had Eddie at 16 and dropped out of high school.
They had a quick courthouse wedding when they were 17. Wayne was one of the witnesses, and Eddie's mom's sister was the other one. They jokingly asked the judge if Eddie, six months old and dressed in a tiny suit-patterned onesie, could be one of the witnesses when Wayne was running late.
Eddie's dad's side of the family is Baptist, and his mom's side is Jewish. Neither one of them are particularly observant, so Eddie grows up with holidays as more cultural/family traditions, rather than religious ones.
His mom's family did not approve of the marriage. They thought his dad was up to no good. His mom doesn't really talk to her family after that.
There is a Reason(TM) why Wayne and Eddie's dad don't talk. Yes, it's a spoiler.
Wayne is about ten years older than Eddie's dad. He enlisted in the Army as soon as he turned 18 and was shipped off to Korea. When he came back, years after he got plopped back in the States, because he had to piece himself back together, he sees that his little brother dropped out of high school and has a wife (not legally, not yet) and a baby on the way.
Wayne and Eddie's dad's father was a coal miner. He also just sucked as a person, and he died when Wayne was around 17, so he didn't feel as guilty for leaving.
Wayne was a truck driver for years before he settled in Hawkins. He starts off doing construction there before he starts working at the plant.
Both of Eddie's parents are addicts. They tried their best, but they absolutely were not equipped to handle a kid.
All hail Dolly Parton. That's it, that's the thought. Eddie's parents (and Wayne) love Dolly. And a bunch of other old school country artists, like Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson. They just sort of get it.
Eddie's got an accent, but from state-hopping so much as a kid, it sounds more pan-Appalachian than anything else. His parents keep their vernacular from West Virginia, but they'll change it up for wherever they're staying. Anything to not draw attention to the fact that they're new in town, anything to keep a low profile.
Eddie likes reading Twain books. They're not written in his dialect, but he thinks it's cool that they're written in dialect at all. They're really fun to read out loud.
Eddie can't, for the life of him, say "tobacco." And I wrote a fic about it.
Eddie's mom called him all sorts of pet names growing up, but the one she used most often was "sugar." Eddie's dad was the only person who called him "Ed."
Neither one of Eddie's parents could carry a tune in a bucket, but that never stopped them from singing to him growing up. Wayne can't sing, either, but he doesn't try.
Steve thinks Eddie's accent is cool and also hot.
Eddie thinks it's a little bit funny when Steve can't understand conversations between him and Wayne. They talk so fast and the vowels and vocab are different and he is lost. Eddie will fill him in after, though.
Eddie's accent automatically kicks in when he sings lullabies.
Eddie's dad's name is John, and his mom's name is Rebecca.
"Edward" was the only first name the two of them could agree on, though they never call Eddie that, and his middle name is his father's name.
That's all I have off the top of my head! Everything else is kind of a spoiler, so I'm avoiding talking about it, at least until I get more chapters of the big ass Eddie backstory out. Thank you so much for asking, this was so much fun for me!!

something something a snippet from my space robots au…
Izzy leaves Queen Anne after some *stuff* going down with the arrival of Stede.
His model is old, and his processor is basically dying, but Izzy won’t trust anyone who isn’t him to perform repairs because it would require Izzy being turned off without a possibility of observing what is being done to his body. He at last blacks out in a shitty flat and is found by the crew of Revenge (Stede and Ed included), who have been trying to locate him. They stumble onto him when the apartment’s owner is dragging his body into trash.
After Izzy is repaired by Roach and comes to on the ship (very surprised to have woken up at all), he, Stede and Ed have a Talk.
“You knew, didn’t you,” Stede says, startling Izzy out of his thoughts. It becomes clear he intends to provide an explanation for Ed as well. “If there’s a risk of malfunction, a notification will appear days, even weeks in advance,” he points at his own temple. “You expected this to happen and simply didn’t tell us.”
“How’d you know this?” Ed asks, bewildered, then turns to Izzy. “Is that true?”
So we’re doing this, Izzy thinks bitterly.
“It is,” he replies, staring directly at Stede. “Will you tell him how you know this, Bonnet?”
If Stede does not come clean now, Izzy won’t expose him. It will serve no purpose, and will only upset Edward. He’s lost all chances of being with his Captain, so maybe Stede can become a sufficient alternative. But, before Izzy can further entertain this train of thought, Stede speaks up unexpectedly.
“I will,” he says with a determined look in his eye, then turns to Ed. Izzy is too stunned to say anything or warn Stede about the possible consequences. “Ed, darling, you see — there’s something I didn’t tell you. I, myself, am an android.”
Ed stares.
“Dickfuck, no, you’re not,” he blurts out. He looks at Izzy for confirmation, or maybe support, but Izzy’s words fail him. Ed frowns. “Iz is an android, and he’s all rigid, and stubborn, and technical. And you’re — you…” he gestures to all of Stede emphatically.
Stede looks down, smiling self-depricatingly.
“Ah, yes, me and Izzy are very different. But it is not due to one of us being human when the other is not. Rather, it’s an effect of our personalities clashing,” he then raises his head at Edward. “I’m very sorry, dear. I’ve never intended to hide something so big from you, it’s just — where I come from, androids are seen merely as objects, and you’re — the most wonderful human being I’ve ever met. I didn’t want for our connection to be cut short because of what I am.”
There’s a pregnant pause, during which Stede seems to become more distressed, and Izzy is almost ready to interfere on his account (the fuck?) in case Ed is going to reject him.
“Stede…” Ed takes his hands in his own. “Fuck, I — I don’t give a damn, okay? You can be a robot, or — or a walking fridge, for all I care, and I still would be here right now. I’ve seen many fucking fridges, but you — there was only ever one of you.”
“Oh, Ed…” Stede looks like he would’ve cried if he was capable of doing so. “It is so kind of you.”
They lock their gazes and seemingly exchange a lifetime of words in a span of seconds. Izzy coughs, self-aware.
Stede snaps out of the quiet romantic bubble. “Oh, I do apologise. We seem to have gotten a tad distracted.”
Izzy itches to get away. He’s clearly imposing. Just a broken tool that Ed picked back up out of a misplaced obligation — or, perhaps, because Stede convinced him that Izzy’s non-existing feelings were hurt.
“I’m… regretful. About leaving without permission,” Izzy says.
“Why’d you do it?” Ed asks, frowning. He must be feeling betrayed.
“I didn’t think there was any benefit in keeping an old malfunctioning android on board when you have so many newer models around,” Izzy replies truthfully. He doesn’t, however, mention his mixed opinions about and frustration with the crew, or Bonnet, or Edward. It’s not important now.
“The fuck do you mean? You’re my First Mate. We’re friends. Right?” Ed gazes at Izzy, sounding unsure.
“Are we?” Izzy says, starting to get angry despite his better judgment. “I wasn’t fucking aware. You didn’t even think I had an identity until Bonnet of all people spelled it out for you.”
“That’s not true,” Ed argues. “I’ve always considered you a person, Iz. Please, tell me you understand?”
Izzy doesn’t, not really. Hell, he himself isn’t completely certain whether he is a person or not. He just knows that he is fucking tired of being treated akin to a stool, or a writing desk, or a fucking maintenance bot. Ten years of service, forty years of battle missions before that, and all it takes to break him is fucking — seeing other androids, like Spriggs and Bonnet, being treated by humans as equals. With respect. With no prejudice. Like they have the same rights as any other anthropomorphic creature.
It took Izzy fifty years alive to find out he has a sense of self. Shitting fucking fuck.
Stede looks at him with an understanding written across his face. “We’ve made a lot of mistakes and poor calls these past few weeks. How about we try from the beginning?” he clears his throat. “Ahem. Hello, Izzy, I am Stede Bonnet — an android made five years ago that ran away to pursue a life of piracy and freedom. Nice to meet you.”
Izzy sighs, flicking his gaze between Ed and Stede. If starting over means he will get to stay besides Ed, even after everything, he is ready to try. “Israel, battle model IZ-1701. First Mate of Queen Anne.”
“And I’m — Edward Teach, ship’s Captain. And I — want to do better.”
Stede smiles encouragingly at the both of them, and for the first time this month, Izzy thinks that maybe — just maybe — things will turn out alright.

My Family is... a Little Weird
"Let me recap... you come from a distant artificial world, Klyntar, that is in fact a cage designed at the origin to imprison the creator of your race and prevent the symbiotes from expending in the Galaxy; you and a small group of... individuals, escaped in a spaceship when your specie engaged in a civil war on Klyntar that split your community, and now that your unit of deserters who turned their back on their home planet landed on Earth, you need me to trace the allies who travelled with you?!"
"Pretty much, yes," the creature appreciated, Eddie could even say the large glowing white triangles that feature the alien's eyes reflect something akin to... fondness.
This aside, the picture remains highly disturbing. Batman saved his life the instant they bonded, by abandoning the too weak human envelope it carried until then. By chance, the extraterrestrial in its declining meatsuit walked outside this hour, it has been attracted by fighting noises six streets from its position. It approached, then, upon grasping the context, merged with the man who could use the intervention of a hero and... beat to a pulp the gang of drug dealers that assaulted him in a side alley, while the private detective worked on a lead to hopefully solve his latest kidnapping affair.
Two days passed since then, Edward Nygma recuperated from the shock. That doesn't mean he is quite used yet to having this... thing attached to him, even though Batman is surprisingly nice, for a vengeful monster from another planet. Eddie simply needs to adjust to the view of this jet black head prolonged by pointy... sort of 'ears' which seem immovable, a strong jaw that discovers a thick pink tongue and a myriad of sharp teeth.
"They are not exactly my 'allies',” it corrected nonetheless. "They are my... family. Only one shares my venom, I believe in Earthian language you say 'biological ties', but all five are my children. I miss them, and I need to find them before they get hurt or cause too much troubles. This Blue Planet's atmosphere is unsafe for us to move if we stay outside of an host for too long; however finding a fitting candidate can be... difficult. We kill the vessel if we are not compatible, it deteriorates until its body becomes inoperable for neither us nor them," it anticipated Ed's next question.
"Neat..." the investigator sighed, already feeling like he goes ahead of the most tricky, complicated and quirky case he ever agreed to take.
Batman undulated in an... inviting manner, half-way through a giant bat and a smooth snake.
"I knew you'd understand, Eddie Nygma," the creature purred, like a big happy cat, and that was... damn, that was weird. "After all... you know what it's like to be a father who cares for his child."
Edward smiled a bit. He can't argue against that.
Over the previous days, Ed made it very clear his unexpected roommate cannot show up when Stephanie is home. His daughter of heart may be the most comprehensive person he knows, he doesn't see how to casually break to her he became the host of an alien symbiote dad who wants to find his five alien symbiote kids disseminated across the State, maybe even across the country after they parachuted in extremis from their spaceship about to crash.
Quite the situation.
Though no doubt when Steph, who is currently at school and Ed slouched on the comfy couch of their apartment, finds out (it's evident she will find out...), she'll be super excited and eager to participate to this unprecedented adventure. Eddie taught her well.
For the time being...
"Alright, Bats. Tell me more about your family, your specie... everything. I need to collect as many clues as I can to build a reasoning and start my investigation. I am the greatest detective on Earth, I promise I'll help you find your children."
~~~
Among said children, two need to be rescued: first to jump from the ship about to blow up, Phoenix and Black Bat landed together in the countryside, in a relatively desertic landscape. Disoriented, lost and in pain with no potential hosts around, they were in no condition to defend themselves. They got captured by human scientists working for a private company prior they could adapt to the new environment or bond with any living being.
One requires assistance: Nightwing was the last to step out of the crashing plane, it made sure its family exited the spaceship first. Another piece of the reactors exploded when it was about to jump, rubble collided with its frame, nearly knocked it out and made it lose its balance. Badly injured, Nightwing effectuated a rushed landing on... salty water. The ship itself sank farther into the Atlantic Ocean. On the upside, less than twenty-four hours later, the quasi-comatose alien ended up rescued by a young woman who took a week of holidays with her father on board of their recreational craft. In some peculiar adaptation of The Little Mermaid, Barbara Gordon spotted the oily black and blue substance while her dad and her fished in open sea, not that far from the Gothamite coastline. They approached, intervened... One thing leading to another, Nightwing bonded at first sight with an 100% compatible human. On top of not being scared, Babs also devoted to nurse the symbiote back to health.
One must be apprehended before it commits a carnage in Metropolis: Red Hood kills vessels every three hours or so, its metabolism is too powerful for most persons to handle. And when it doesn't melt people from the inside, the extraterrestrial rips off the heads of bystanders it devours in dark quarters at night, starving because of the increased energy it consumes when jumping from one incompatible host to another.
One is already looking for them: Demon found the right match at third try. Now helped by a retired military, Alfred Pennyworth, the youngest symbiote investigates to reunite the family.
hiiii so i heard you're doing ships and that's super exciting!! i'm about to put way too much info so please don't hate me for how much i'm writing about myself :)
so to start out, i use she /her pronouns. i am 5'4 with brown hair and green eyes. i naturally have freckles everywhere and they show up more evidently in the summer. (i just sent in a quick picture for further help). my love language is definitely touch. i am an outspoken person, always needing to talk, and i'm too independent for my own good. i'm told that i'm very stubborn, but i'm very thoughtful in my own way, despite not being a very sympathetic person. i get lost in thought pretty easily, and love to ramble on and on about my interests. i make friends pretty easily, and i am told that i'm a creative person. i'd say i'm an ambivert in the context that i love being around people and going out and i'm more on the extroverted side, but definitely need my alone time. i spend my time alone listening to music 24/7, researching things for literal hours on wikipedia, writing, and watching movies. that leads to my next thing about myself, i love film. it's my passion, and i want to be a big director someday. i'm currently working on a screenplay that's going nowhere so far. that's the goal. my favorite movies are: the graduate, shallow grave, and la haine. my favorite is 'the graduate' because of the symbolism and integration of showing the materialistic craze of the 60s, the cinematography is to die for, and i have my own inner conflict with hating the main character because he's a self centered prick, but understanding his fear of the future and feeling of uncertainty in anything. i love wes anderson and stanley kubrick's directorial style. i can also quote the first eleven minutes of 'ratatouille' by memory alone. my comfort movies incredibly odd, though. i love: fantastic mr. fox, the pixar story (a documentary i've seen at least a thousand times), and the truman show. my favorite books are: the catcher in the rye, just kids, looking for alaska, and my childhood favorite: the miraculous journey of edward tulane. my favorite article of clothing is a red and blue striped sweater that's like three times too big for me. it's so comfortable and i live to wear it with long skirts and baggy jeans.-my big six in astrology are: taurus sun, libra rising, capricorn moon, taurus mercury, aries venus, cancer mars. my myers briggs is entp-t.
omg i TOTALLY 100% ship you with nathan bateman
look ok i know this doesn’t make much sense at the surface BUT
also he really needs an s/o who can put him in his place, who’s not afraid to call him out when he’s being a bit of an insensitive asshole. very stubborn but thoughtful but not always sympathetic???? that’s him and you to a t and we love to see it 😌
Charles Vane x Reader
A/N: Please do not plagiarize, all my work is my own and has been posted across multiple fanficfikn websites.
Info: Y/N is Charles's ex. He left her without a word but when she docks in Nassau a well established captain she has a plan to get him back for all those years ago.
Warnings: Partial smut and Language.
~♡~
Y/N's P.O.V
"We'll dock at Nassau." I pointed to the port on a map that lay sprawled across the big wooden desk in my cabin.
"Um, Captain..." The Quartermaster was a young woman I had met many years ago when I had joined my first crew. She had quickly become my most trusted ally.
"Yes?" I tilted my head to the side as she shifted uncomfortably.
"You are aware that's where... Charles Vane does his trading?" Her voice got higher at the end of her sentence. My first thought was to turn tail and sail in the other direction, not wanting to see that man again. I am not the same girl I was 6 years ago. I had grown up and matured to become one of the most feared pirates of the age.
I would go to Nassau and he wouldn't know what hit him.
6 years ago
"Charles!" I exclaimed happily as I ran down the cobblestone street towards the tall, strong man who stood at the end arms open. As I reached him I lept into his arms as he lifted me with ease spinning me around.
"Hey, Doll." I breathed in his masculine scent. He had been out sailing for over a month.
"I missed you." He lowered me back to the ground as he slammed his lips down on mine. His arms snaked around my waist pulling me tightly into his muscular chest.
"Mmmm I've waited far to long to do this." There was a glint in his eyes as he scooped me into his arms carrying me back up the street and into the small house we shared when he wasn't off sailing.
"Charles!" I shrieked and giggled as he closed the door behind us lowering me onto the floor. I laughed as he hovered over me. We lay sprawled on the hard floor. I moaned as his lips danced down my throat.
"Well somebody's excited." I panted as he pulled his shirt over his head and made quick work of my dress pulling it down. He untied my corset with inhuman speed before his calloused hands ran down my frame. His intense kiss lowered farther down as his tongue danced down my chest.
"Vane!" I shrieked as his fingers slid under my panties. He groaned he had always had a soft spot for his last name.
~♡~
I felt incredibly sore as I rolled over. Why was the bed so hard? I groaned as I opened my eyes to be eye level with the cold floor. Why was I on the floor? The ache between my legs brought back memories of last night. Charles coming back our night on the floor. As I sat up looking around I noticed there was no sign of the pirate who I had spent the night with.
"Charles?" I called out. No answer. I got to my feet and looked around the small house. No Charles. Where did he go? I got dressed and stepped out onto the street.
"Wilma!" I caught the attention of my middle aged neighbour.
"Y/N? What can I help you with." She was such a sweet woman.
"Um the man I was with yesterday. Do you know where he went?" I tried to avoid the topic of him being a thief and a pirate.
"Oh I saw him this morning down on the docks. Y/N I'm so sorry I don't think that young man is coming back." She continued down the street leaving me standing alone.
He left?
Present day
I hadn't seen him any day since. And to say it stung was an understatement. He left me to wonder what had gone wrong? What had I done? I pushed the last thoughts away. I didn't do anything wrong he's the one who left me.
"Get the boats in the water!" I shouted as people rushed around the ship readying the row boats to shuttle us to the docks.
"Hello Nassau." I grinned evilly as I breathed in the salty air.
Charles's P.O.V
I lifted a barrel resting it on my shoulder and I made my way to the dock. I was helping my crew unload the barrels of whale oil we had scavenged from our last plunder and restock with fresh supplies. The sun was high in the sky as I wiped sweat from my brow.
"Dam check out the Dame." A man pointed out over the water to where a row boat was being ferried in. A H/C (hair colour) woman sat at the front her hair blowing in the wind. There was something familiar about the way the woman held herself. As the boat got closer I couldn't help but watch the woman step out of the boat first, brushing a lock of her hair back.
Then it hit me.
Y/N.
Oh shit.
Y/N's P.O.V
I saw the way Charles had been eyeing me since we hit the dock. I grinned to myself as I made my way up the dock and towards the shirtless pirate that had abandoned me. I saw him visibly flinch and back away as I made my way towards him. Without even glancing at him I walked by not giving him a second look.
"Y/N?" I heard someone mutter and I turned to see Jack pale as a sheet and looking like he had seen a ghost. I gave him a curt nod as he stared at me. I hid the sly grin I could feel making its way across my face.
This was going to be fun.
~♡~
Charles's P.O.V
"So it's true then, Y/N is in Nassau." A low voice spoke from behind me. I turned in my seat at the bar to come face to face with none other than my old mentor, Edward Teach.
"Yeah she docked yesterday mid-day." Looking away I refocused my attention on my mug of ail.
"You never mentioned she was a captain." I thought I could hear a hint of amusement in his voice.
"She wasn't." I wanted this conversation to be over. All those years ago I hadn't planned on leaving her alone on the floor.
"I see. So why did you leave her?" I shook my head slightly lightheaded from the couple drinks I had downed. I turned to leave ignoring his question.
"You were in love with the lass ai?" I stopped in my tracks for a split second before heading to the door and out onto the street.
"Yes." I whispered to myself as the cold breeze hit my face. I had run 6 years ago because it had taken until that night to realise I was in love with her. I had been afraid of committing to one person, afraid the authorities would find out and use her against me, at the time she had been a law abiding citizen who had caught feelings for a pirate. And then of course there was Eleanor. I shook my head, Eleanor had been my second chance to get what I had with Y/N but she could never love me the way I loved her.
"What the..." I hadn't noticed where I had been going while I was lost in my thoughts but I found myself standing in front of one of the inns rooms. The room Jack had seen Y/N going in and out of. I turned on my heal and began to make my way back down the hall.
"Charles?" I froze.
Y/N's P.O.V
There had been a noise outside my room so I opened the door. No one was there but as I looked down the hall I saw his tall muscular form retreating away.
"Charles?" I had spoke before I had time to think it threw. He froze and hesitated a moment before rotating around to face me.
"Y/N." He regarded me showing very little emotion.
"What are you doing here?" He took a few steps towards me while I closed my room door behind me so we were both standing in the hall.
"I could ask you the same thing." He leaned back against the wall. I swallowed hard. His voice had been the thing that had made me look twice at him. It sent shivers down my spine as all the things that voice had whispered into my ear came flooding back.
"I'm rooming here." I said as if he was dumb. I mean what else are inns for?
"I meant in Nassau." He squinted at me.
"Trading, same as everyone else." He arched his eyebrow.
"Now why are you here?" I asked crossing my arms to stop myself from reaching out.
"I live here." I sighed shaking my head.
"No, why are you at my door?" I gave a small knock on the old wood to emphasise. I saw him tense for a moment as the calm mask he was hiding behind slipped for a moment.
"Why did you turn to pirating?" He swiftly changed the topic. Fine it's not like it mattered, he was at my door now anyways.
"Don't think I didn't notice you skirt the question. About 5 years ago, I felt like changing things up so I joined a crew and 3 years later was captain." He seemed shocked it wasn't often someone could climb the ranks that fast.
"Why did you leave?" I hadn't meant to say it but as I watched him I felt anger and hurt bubble up inside me.
"I-" he stuttered. The great Charles Vane was having trouble putting a sentence together. I could see an internal battle going on in his eyes.
"Job opportunities." It was so unconvincing I would have laughed if I hadn't been so furious. I took a deep breath attempting to hide the fury twisting in my gut.
"Bullshit!" And that failed. I stepped forward moving my arm subconsciously until it made contact with his chizzeld jaw. I felt a burn in my knuckles as I retook my previous position at the door while he stumbled taken by surprise.
"Ow." His voice was low and filled with venom as he rubbed his jaw. I felt most of my anger settle down allowing me to think clearly again. I had to admit that had been rather therapeutic.
"I'll ask you again. Why did you leave?" I was going to get the answer to the question that had been haunting me for 6 years even if it was the last thing I'd do.
"You've got a mean swing." He was still rubbing his jaw as he propped himself back against the wall.
"Charles." There was a warning in my voice.
"Fine, I deserved that." He took a deep breath.
"I left because... because I was in love with you." He crossed his arms across his chest as he waited for me to reply.
"What?" I began to laugh.
"You were in love with me so you decided to leave me!" It really want that funny but I mean I had waited 6 years for that?!
"I don't see how this is funny." He brought himself to a standing position as I hunched over my eyes beginning to water. I didn't either but at the moment it was the funniest thing I had ever heard.
"I-I know it j-just- pfffft." I was laughing so hard I felt my stomach begin to ache.
"I said stop." I had clearly hit a nerve because he stepped forward pinning me against the door.
"Oh yeah what are you going to do about it?" I was really trying not to laugh but a few hiccups escaped as I tried to calm down. Before I knew what had happened his lips had crashed down against mine. I froze my laughter forgotten. I could feel the heat radiating off his tall body. I could feel myself drowning in the kiss as I began to move my lips in time with his. I felt the space between us vanish as he stepped closer and I snaked my arms around his neck.
"I was afraid of how easy the decision to stay with you in that small house would have been." He whispered his alcohol laced breath ran across my face.
"I never would have asked you to stay with me. I knew you belonged out here." I twisted a piece of his long hair around my fingers.
"No but I'll ask you. Will you stay with me here in Nassau? Try this again. Give me a chance to make it up to you." His hand gripped my waist as I pulled him down into another earth shattering kiss.
"Yes." I grinned into the kiss.
"For the record I always like you more than that Eleanor woman." A voice came from down the hall. I pulled away to see an older man with a black beard. Was that Edward Teach? I heard Charles snicker as he pulled the door to my room open pulling me inside and out of the hall. The man at the end of the hall chuckled.
ok J&H Fandom, let’s talk:
“Popular” blog @thatsmyhyde is a prominent creator in the J&H Fandom. But here’s where the problem shows up:
the content they make is concerning at least, and full of red flags at worst.
DISCLAIMER: This is all information I have gathered through their tumblr blog - I am not aware of what other things they may be posting on other social medias or their written work.  ANOTHER DISCLAIMER: Please be polite, I am a minor, and am just creating this post to ward off / warn other minors from following this person. If you are an adult interacting with this post and blog, be mindful of your actions and be responsible
Trigger warnings for: discussions of homophobia, discussions of p//phillia, fat-shaming, fat-phobia (?), etc. Just be on general edge for this post, we’re talking about a lot of weird stuff
I will be linking their posts as I am not going to take screenshots of their art.
This is not a comprehensive list of all the things they’ve done - these are the ones I could think of and was able to adress. If you have anything additional you want to add to this post (such as concerning things they may do on other social media), feel free to reblog and add on the things you need to say, just please don’t be dumb.
Let’s start with the premise: Henry Jekyll creates an alter ego, Edward Hyde. They begin a relationship - an emotional and physical one. Their AU features Jekyde (A popular ship in the fandom, the name stands for Jekyll x Hyde), people have various views on this ship.
So far so fine, right? Here are the problems:
1. Their Henry Jekyll is an awful person. Now, let’s start by saying that of course you can have bad people in your works, those are, after-all: villains. The problem is,Henry Jekyll is a harmful walking gay sterotype, and an outlet for Biscuit’s obvious fat fetish. But their relationship isn’t just toxic it’s romanticised in how toxic it is.
a. The harmful stereotype - Their Henry Jekyll has a “thing” for younger men, even though he is in his middle-ages, and Hyde looks like a young child. (Age gap relationships are their own thing - they come with their own burdens, and this is not the post to discuss them. This topic will lead into the Edward  Hyde section of this post.) But, it was a known homophobic scare-mongering tactic of straight parents to accuse everyone who is gay that they are ‘out to prey on your youths’. This is a stereotype that stigmatized the LGBT community, and still harmfully affects them to this day.
b. The fat fetish: Jekyll is frequently seen with cake (as seen here, here, and here)  or being self-loathing, to the point of suicide. (click the link here to acess a list of suicide and other crisis hotlines! you matter to me!). Now, the self-loathing could be a symptom of depression or other mental illness, so I am not going to talk about it, as a person with mental illnesses.  But the self-loathing in addition to him being fat is not good. Media is drowning in the “self-loathing fat person” and as someone who isn’t thin i’m tired of seeing this.
- The fetish aspect comes in him constantly being referred to “Chonky”, a term usually used for overweight/obese cats and being drawn obsessed with cake. It fetishises his weight and dehumanises him into something people call their animals. Also, here’s more of Jekyll eating food and being embarassed by it, though this time because it’s seen as “servant’s food”.
- Biscuit admits to liking them “Big and chunky” in posts like this.
Tumblr media
[Photo id: A string of texts that says: tantok, frankenstein, twink lore, dorian slipped through the cracks and got himself sketched by yours truly the other day because he brought lord henry along, he and the slime didn’t have to fight to the death because they’ve both got their own chonky old toxic henries to focus on, but this blog still ain’t big enough for the two of ‘em. end id]
- They also talk about how they ‘prefer’ to draw fat (chonky) people. Image attatched above. the thing that should be noticed is that they say ‘chonky old toxic henries’ . they, once again, are making fat people a fetish.
Tumblr media
[Photo id: Anonymous asks: are you gonna make a victor design tho biscuit responds: Oh, man, anon, I hate to disappoint but.....probably not. Aside from my non-humanoids and hellspwans (slime gremlins, corpse creatures, and etcetera), I’m extremely uninterested in drawing young thin men. I really need middle-aged chonk to hold my attention. If poor Victor Frankenstein had only been 40-something and round when he made his great creation, then he’d definitely get a design from yours truly. As it is though, he’s not holding my attention enough to want to. end id]
Biscuit once again talks about how he doesn’t want to draw ‘thin men’, because he is only interested in older ‘round’ people. He, is, once again, bringing to light his fetish for fat people.
2. Edward Hyde is basically a child - Edward Hyde is drawn in boy’s school clothes, is taken in and raised like a child after Jekyll’s death, and is constantly cooed over by the creator, even earning a nickname of ‘slime’ from them. In addition, he also has ‘family photos’ taken with Utterson, has his toenails kept, is the height of a child, and teeths. This, paired with the fact that he is in a toxic, abusive, relationship with a man in his middle ages is concerning and should not be romanticised.
Tumblr media
[Photo id: the text reads: In his first year of existence, Hyde lost teeth and regrew them in a mildly similar fashion to a kid losing baby teeth - except it wasn’t all of his teeth (Just the canines and some random molars) and they weren’t replaced with a larger set, just with teeth exactly the same as the ones that had been lost. No one knows what was up with this. the teeth are still in Jekyll’s study in a little jar. end id]
a. Hyde is treated like a child after Jekyll’s death. Hyde teething is concerning because that’s something infants do. He also clings to utterson like a child. The idea that he gets taken in by Utterson, whisked away to an estate out in the country, despite both of them having romantic feelings for Jekyll is. how do I put this: WEIRD. (seriously, imagine your father/father-figure dating ur significant other / having a crush on them before you two got together and after).
b. Hyde dresses like a child, whilst being sexually active and wearing lingerie. Now, on their own, these traits aren’t a problem - but together? They are very much a problem.
- Hyde dressing as a child is concerning because he is also treated like a child at certain points in their “lore”. After Jekyll’s death, Hyde becomes a singular entity, and is taken away by Utterson. To care for, like a child. This post sums it up well: he wears both children’s clothes and lingerie.
- Hyde has a very strange appearance - if you compare it to his early design (which was less cartoony and looked more like a man in his twenties), Hyde’s current design is concerning. Why does he have the height of a child? Why does he have eyes that take up a grand part of his face? Now, one could argue that ‘he is not human’ - but if he is treated like a human, whilst wearing children’s/youthful clothes, teeths, and his general enchanment with the world - he appears as human (and looks eerily similar to a child), which is why him being sexually active, wearing lingerie, and being friendly with prostitutes (one that gave him underwear and other articles of clothing)  is concerning.
- That said, Utterson is directly talked about being ‘adopted into gremlin fatherhood’ (paraphrasing).
Tumblr media
[Photo id: the text reads: 59. Jekyll is irresitibly attracted to everything about Hyde, but if he could somehow be forced to list hte most attractive physical attributes of Edward Hyde in his opinion, aside from Hyde’s youthful appearance in general it would be his eyes, his overbite (Jekyll perceived the way Hyde’s-) the screenshot cuts of the rest of the paragraph. end id]
- Jekyll has a ‘thing’ for younger men. This is to the point that the most attractive part about Hyde is that he is young. (or looks like it), Hyde looking very young is concerning because that would make their verison of Doctor Jekyll a p*dophille . This is something the artist has either not recognized, realised, or simply does not acknowledge.
3. The toxic relationship (and how it’s romanticised) - The relationship in this ‘AU’ is: love comes first, toxic nature comes second. If you scroll through the blog you may see some reference of ‘Henry Jekyll is such a toxic person teehee’ and a lot of them kissing, being together, smiling, or enjoying life. Now, obviously, an artist - if they do not want to - should not draw characters being toxic to each other. But it is concerning when the above points come into a factor, that the toxic nature of their relationship comes second to the highs of their relationship, at least on their blog.
Here is one of the only examples I’ve seen of Biscuit talk about the relationship in a detailed negative light.
4. The fandom - Whilst Biscuit says it’s ok for minors to interact with his blog (in that blog he says that he tags nsfw - which is true.) he does not regularly mention that his jekyde is toxic - not in a concerete way. He romanticises it (despite acknowledging it’s flaws), and the only way it may or may not be (i would not know) acknowledged is his fic: which is mature and not meant for minors. He does not tag his posts with regular triggers for things like: alcohol, drugs, mental illnesses, or abuse (any variants). They’re not even in his blog’s description! If Biscuit had acknowledged it in his blog, something along the lines of: “Hey! This blog has <content warnings> be warned when interacting! But no, he does not.
- A lot of the people who draw things, or generally interact with Biscuit are minors. Being exposed to such a thing may be harmful to my peers, and I am worried. To minors who are fans of Biscuit: if you’ve made it this far, thank you, I know you’re mature and responsible, but being exposed to content creators like Biscuit could lead you down a dangerous path of having this kind of thing normalised to you. Be careful with the content you consume, please! And thank you for making it this far, I’m sure you’re a lovely person :)!
Thank you for taking the time to read this! Stay safe, tell the people you love that you love them.
