Nsfw // I sometimes check that one forum where (mostly) gay men post suggestive (or not) male celebrity pictures. So I checked the thread about Lando and it's basically all about his "huge bulge" and how "fuckable" he looks (I agree with both statements). But then I checked Oscar's thread and died laughing, they're all just saying how CUTE he is 😂 there are a few pics of his ass and thighs of course but it's mostly just CUTE BOY. WHOLESOME BOY. And it's so funny, those threads are generally so vulgar but Oscar is just cute boy and I think that's precious

Jack Reacher: Killing Floor- Lee Child
Tumblr media
Image taken from CBC
Rating: 4.1 / 5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Killing Floor is the debut novel of prolific crime writer Lee Child and was originally published in March 1997.
This book introduces us to Jack Reacher, an ex-military man turned drifter, who finds himself in Georgia arrested for murder. Reacher needs to get to the bottom of this mystery and soon delves into the lives of the residents of the small town of Margrave
When beginning the story, it did start quite slowly as it was spent introducing necessary characters important to the plot and unfortunately, a majority of the characters were fairly forgettable and if not, slightly cliche. Nonetheless, the action described in the novel was incredible description and made it impossible to put the book down.
The slowly unravelling plot possesses suspense right up until the last page. What keeps the reader's interest is the type of crimes Child incorporated into the novel: it ranges from kidnapping to murder, all the way to fraud.
Our main character, Jack Reacher, is the narrator of the piece and we get to experience the action through his logical and analytical mind. Probably the most well-known feature of Reacher's thinking is his ability to study the opening scenes of an oncoming fight, he can analyse them in slow motion and is able to win 99% of the time. Child's to-the-point writing gives an extremely clear description of what Reacher is thinking and seeing. It helps the reader paint a perfect picture in their mind. For example, the motel fight sign, Roscoe's door caved in, and the barbershop shaving scene. The in-depth detail even goes as far as to describe the cars perfectly.
My main qualm with the book is the lack of personality to Reacher and no back story for the main character- the main focus seems to just be sex and action when the characters could have been explored a lot more. However, the villains in Killing Floor make up more than enough for the dearth of character development as they are exceedingly evil, making it almost impossible to trust anyone you are reading about.
Lee Child has created a whole world with this book series, and Killing Floor is an excellent gateway to the rest of the books. The characters may not be as detailed as I would have liked, but the excessive detail of scenes more than makes up for that and I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a bit of action.

Every once in awhile I have a conversation with someone - a parent or family member with a young kid - about activities for their kid to do and every time, without fail, I mention theatre.
I believe that it is in the interest of every young child to be part of at least two theatre shows (not just one and done - one to learn, and the second one to apply the lessons). On stage, acting, in front of a crowd. Because for what it teaches, theatre absolutely maximises its impact. All at once, in the act of preparing for and then performing in a show, a child will learn everything from how to perform a task in front of a crowd, public speaking, team work, diction, independent study, body and postural awareness, and more.
Yes, there are other extracurriculars you could have a kid do that have them perform in front of a crowd. Sports, music, dance - but for each of their strengths, they all fall short of theatre's efficiency.
I had the luck that my public school had a local theatre director come and teach second and third grade kids (as part of the public school system at the time, schools had an allowance of time and budget for an art/music/performance module). Two hours per week, and each year both grades would put on an end of year show. It didn't matter if a kid was shy, disinterested, etc - it was part of the curriculum, and you were going on that stage.
It won't turn your kid into a professional. It's not supposed to - all it needs to do is put a kid on a stage where they have to say some lines and move around with purpose. Most of the kids in those classes never did anything related to theatre again. But what I know for a fact is that - each kid to their own ability - those two years of curriculum fundamentally improved our ability to *function* with all eyes pointed at us.
Like you want to be able to do every time you present in front of a class, or team, or when you need to defend your ideas, negotiate, or even just tell a story. Or to have more ease in *asking* a question in front of a group, loosening that anxiety that can otherwise push many to keep quiet and leave their doubts unanswered. Learning how to project your voice, make sure you're being heard and understood, clear diction - as useful as when you need to monologue on stage as when you're on a zoom call with patchy connection.
The TLDR is this. Being able to remain calm and at ease, speak clearly, and improvise when all eyes are on you is a skill that fundamentally improves your life - and theatre is by far the most efficient way to learn those skills.
So yeah. Put your kids in theatre. Hell, put yourself in theatre. For at least two shows, with the only requirement being to go through with performing in front of a crowd.

The Mundane Stage of Life
Have you ever performed on stage or given a speech? Observing a Phenomenon When I think back to my experiences with the stage, I realize they’ve been rather humble—mundane, even. As a child, I participated in church plays, and I spent my high school years playing the trombone in the band, but neither of these experiences felt particularly groundbreaking at the time. They were just things I did…

Biden Is Ceding Presidential Influence to Trump, and Some Democrats Are Furious ... **Color me INDEPENDENT from now on!!!
Count me in among them DEMs ... I'm no longer a Democrat!! I'll delete/remove that affiliation!!
"The American tradition is that the nation has only one president at a time. Right now, that president looks like Trump—because President Biden is ceding the spotlight.
Trump is already dictating trade and immigration policy and has moved rapidly to remake the U.S. government. He doesn’t take office for six weeks, but many people who had been his fiercest critics in Washington—and the White House—have mostly stood aside.
This has left a number of Democrats perturbed that Biden and party leaders, after spending years casting Trump as a threat to democracy, have left a communications and policy vacuum during the transition period. These critics believe top Democrats have bypassed chances to make the case against nominations by the president-elect that they see as instruments of his promised “retribution." @hrexach

Topic: NJ Transfer - Course Equivalencies Audience: NJ-based college students or soon-to-be college students interested in seeing whether or not their community college course credits can transfer to a four-year university.
I learned about the Course Equivalencies section of njtransfer.org from an advisor while I was in college and it blew my mind! It's not uncommon for some university students, especially those who want to graduate in less than four years, to explore taking community college courses during the summer.
There are definitely pros and cons to taking community college courses over the summer. On one hand, they're less expensive than university courses, can help you finish your program earlier after you transfer your credits, and you can take them closer to home. On the other hand, usually the grade you get in the community college course won't contribute to your GPA and, at least at my university, I couldn't transfer in any community college credits after I'd earned 60 credits in my university.
Before committing to the community college course, get 100% confirmation from your university that the course you're looking to take will transfer over.
Back to NJ Transfer:
To get to the course equivalencies section of NJ Transfer, go to njtransfer.org, go to the "Students" drop-down menu, and click "Course Equivalencies."
Select your local community college where you're going to take your class from the drop-down menu under "'Transfer from' Institutions" and your university under "'Transfer to' Institutions." Then, click submit.
Tumblr media
For an example, I'm transferring credits from Raritan Valley Community College to New Jersey City University.
I'm pleased to find that there are many more options than when I first learned about this site. We used to only be see equivalencies for one course at a time.
Tumblr media
It appears that now, you can see the entire list of course equivalencies (the yellow button that says "List all Equivalencies"), including how many credits transfer over, the equivalent course at your university, and more.
Tumblr media
You can download the list by clicking the "download the list" button at the top-right corner of the list itself. On the left, click any course under "Course ID" to get detailed transfer information about each individual course. For some courses, you can even see and download the course syllabus!
As always, consult your advisor before jumping into any courses to make sure they'll actually count towards your degree program.
