Sorry to disappoint but the top gun au only exists in my head, I absolutely cannot write a whole fanfic about fighter jets and also fuck the army, but it would be cute to have an au about grumpy Lando who only flies solo, forced to pair up with WSO Oscar (the backseater) for a special army training. Muppet and Claws don't really like each other at first, mostly because they don't agree on their work method, but eventually fall in love after an exercise that turns badly where they both have to jump out and realize how worried they were for one another, yada yada yada, the usual

Yes they are drivers, and yes 25!Lando and 40!Lewis are dating (age gap yaoi got me in the end). The time travel is there for Lando to experience what Lewis was like around his age, and for Lewis to experience catholic guilt and religious trauma (#projecting)

Baby Lewis is going through a lot tbf 😭 I lowkey feel bad for him but torturing characters is what being a writer is all about

As for writing a millennial: we didn't have access to the internet until we were 12 or older and then they scared us a lot so we didn't give out personal info. So most of the time we are on some level confused that the younger generations are so comfortable on the internet. Aka we forget that you grew up here. I mean most millennials are now chronically online so we shouldn't find it weird anymore, but we do.

“Lewis?” he says again with wide eyes and an incredulous voice. He steps forward again but stops quickly when it becomes obvious Lewis is taking a step back for every one he does forward. “Lewis, you look… you’re younger,” the psycho crazy stranger from hell says, softly yet in total disbelief. “You’re a fan?” Lewis asks violently. There’s something like hurt flashing across the young man’s face, swiftly replaced by a sad and confused pout. “You... you really don’t recognize me?” “Should I?” Lewis taunts, feeling weird about making this stranger, who may or may not be dangerous, sad. “Oh my god,” he breathes, wide eyes looking into the distance, slowly pacing near the bed with a hand over his mouth. When he looks up at Lewis again, his eyes are finally, finally, scared. “Lewis,” he starts in a croaky voice. “What year do you think this is?”
