there's the tiniest tug to edelgard's cape. the small, shaky fingers attached to its crimson corner belong to bernadetta. she's pale as a corpse, and almost as cold as one to boot—but not quite yet.

it is much to her horror that she does not even know what to say. that, or her voice has gone and retreated like their bunch did to this dank bunker. her lips tremble apart, then back closed. then another time.

it takes a good moment. her voice, a strangled thing, with all the same cracks in it as her heart, finally manages to croak: "um... am i... am i in trouble?"

and even though bernadetta feels she is, how strange that she has approached edelgard for it. that she has not ran. but maybe that is because there has been nowhere, this time, to run.

It's the small pull, petite enough to grab her attention as she draws herself towards the worn, near ghostly frame of her classmate. Edelgard's complexion is much like the mask she compels herself to wear, steeled by a locked heart and strengthened words. Her lips open to speak as she breaks the barrier to place a hand on her shoulder.

"No. Of course not," she says softly. "Why would you be?" Her words ruminate in the air, ignoring all but the person standing in front of her.

"The blame for this lay elsewhere. I assure you of that." It is easy to get lost in the chaos of it all— In the whirlpool swimming from the bunker as the monastery crumbled underneath their very feet after their trek from the Southern Church. Edelgard keeps her lower half still, only turning her torso and eyes towards Bernadetta. "I understand how difficult this may be. If you find yourself shouldering regret, rid yourself of it. There is no need. Understood?"

She can't bring herself to smile amidst the uncertainties and ruckus, but none can take away the concern the princess will always have for people like Bernadetta. "Stay by me. I won't let you out of my sight until I feel you're fit."

I think it's very interesting to see so many people in the 911 fandom adamant that the actor of Marisol should leave/be written out/fired for her transphobia and homophobia when there was so little of this energy for Ryan Guzman [Eddie's actor]'s antiBlack and generally racist bullshit.

Not interesting as in "she doesn't deserve that and he did" but interesting as in they both did but racism is such a non-issue to so many in this fandom that it barely registers.
