A strange statue in the Leprosarium. It seems like you can place something inside of its chest cavity.

Zephyr Slip
At the end of last year, before I'd begun working on Bit Cobalt, I ran into some paleoart of Austroraptor, a dromaeosaur (raptor) from Argentina. Austroraptor is one of the largest dromaeosaurs, with a long, narrow, Big Bird snoot, conical teeth that probably point to fishing, and small forelimbs, as well as leg proportions that hint at a runner. Much of the paleoart I saw depicted Austroraptor in waterbird colors, which gave it a soft and friendly appearance, immediately my new favorite dinosaur.
So I drew an Austroraptor and then a robotic one, adding a quail topknot or ahoge feather, and started to think about making a transforming figure that would change from this animal into a humanoid robot. But a transformation from cute robot girl to cute robot girl, except one of them is a dinosaur, seemed a bit redundant, and there would be compromises in both directions that would detract rather than add.
But a couple of months later, I saw a particular motor scooter and something clicked, and the game was on. I love motor scooters, and they're a fantastic accessory for other figures on the shelf. I went through two foamcore prototypes to nail down the transformation, making it as simple and sturdy as I could manage and making sure both modes would scale well with other 1/12 scale figures.
I also started collecting some reference images for details I could nab and integrate, and to nail down the scaling of the scooter.
After I had something that worked, I drew up some concept art for both modes and started modeling. I was able to streamline the design a couple of steps further in the 3D model, and then it was all carving up shapes, fine tuning, etc. Probably the longest phase of modeling was after I had my model roughed out into shape, but needed to build the joints, firm up the edges, define all the contact surfaces, and apply subdivision surfaces. I found it useful to rig the model and set a couple of animation steps in Blender for the two modes so I could simply page back and forth between them.
I had to set the design on the back burner while I worked out the kinks with my 3D printer and built my last couple of projects. Then I made a test print to identify any trouble spots, and after a couple of tweaks to get the feel right, it was time to print and finish the real thing. Zephyr Slip is the first thing I've printed in "color", and thanks to some dyes I need to experiment with more, she won't be the last. That means a much more durable finish for parts that have to slide against one another or clip into place. I did add a gloss coat to some surfaces of the black elements, but it shouldn't show chipping much. (Unlike the kickstand, thanks to my terrible decision to paint its feet.)
Like my previous figures, Zephyr's eyes (and console) are just printed gloss paper under a coat of gloss varnish, and her headlights and taillights have some clear resin poured in over the paint and cured into place for lenses. Cutting plastic windows like the ones on my Vertigo GT for the lower headlights didn't have the same effect, so they got the same clear resin treatment. The decal designs themselves were made in Blender, because I've given up on Inkscape's interface, but I think they came out okay.
The joints are almost exclusively 3mm ABS rods, although her hip joints are Kotobukiya Hexa Gear joints, which gave me a sturdy pin and hinge in a compact package and without visible pegs. I'm looking into options to make the pegs show less while being easy to remove for the construction and painting process. Despite some care with the tolerances, I did have to widen some peg holes and mush some pegs during assembly to get her pose well and snap together tight into either mode. But everything does clip solidly into place, resulting in a really playable figure.
As my first fully transforming figure and also my largest, Zephyr Slip is definitely the biggest figure project I've tackled so far, and I'm extremely happy with the results. Posability is probably her weakest area, but she can pounce and emote, and with her solid handfeel and satisfyingly snappy transformation, I'm happy with the design.
Paleontologically, I've followed most of the proportions of the real animal, although her torso should be a little bit longer, and her tail half again as long. She should also have visible first fingers, and I'm playing into the paleoart meme of bare snouts on dromaeosaurs that shouldn't have them. The proportion of thigh to shin is exaggerated, and the tail should have some left-right sway even if it's inflexible in the vertical axis. But it pleases me that she is both a roughly accurately scaled Austroraptor, and also a fairly realistically scaled scooter (if a bit chunky).
As always, due credit to @aprilpowered and Workbenchmaniac for support and feedback along the way, as well as Nemocyte (Tumblr | Twitter), whose feedback helped me to work out (among other things) the articulation needs of a theropod figure, something I'd never had to think about before.

omg diy pin tutorial
I’ve been making these pins/magnets for a few months now. I get a lot of compliments on them, and people are surprised to hear I make them myself. They’re pretty easy (but pretty work intensive), the materials are cheap, and they’re surprisingly durable. Sticking to materials I’ve had success with here, but there’s definitely flexibility.
Starting with these 1” unfinished wood squares. Paint them or don’t, the unfinished wood effect can also be cool but you’ll have to be extra diligent sealing them later on. Quick tip: make a stack of squares so you can paint all the sides simultaneously. Break apart the stack between coats so they don’t get too glued together.
Get a print of your designs. Size the file so that your designs are just barely bigger than your tiles. I recommend a professional glossy photo print. Drug store printing quality control is super shaky and I’ve found that Walgreens prints tend to blur over time with exposure to the resin that we use later on. I go to a small local fine art printing place. I recommend using a file with borders so they don’t clip your edges.
Chop chop.
Glue photos on (the porosity of wood is really your friend here) (I use Modge Podge) and trim any excess edges and corners. Unless the edges of your pic or your tile are white, you’re gonna wanna paint the edges of the photo. Makes a huge difference.
Make sure you’re working on a level surface. VERY level. Like, get a level. Mix and pour resin over the photos, covering them fully. I’m using Unicone Art, which I haven’t seen any yellowing with and barely any bubbles. 1 tsp is enough for 10-15 pins.
Standard dry time for this resin is one day. I would recommend waiting a full three, because this next bit is pretty harsh.
(I’ve also sealed some photos with modge podge on top. I find the resin easier and more aesthetic)
Glue on your pin or magnet or idk maybe you wanna glue on something else, whatever. I use clear gorilla glue, which requires a few hours of clamping/weight to properly dry. Easy enough with flat magnets, pins are trickier. I have been using a carefully balanced hammer.
(you can also glue stuff on before you pour the resin, which reduces the risk of damaging the resin! however this does make leveling trickier)
After that’s done, you’ll want to seal the exposed wooden surfaces (I use Modge Podge, 3-5 coats). This is more critical on pins than magnets: not sure why, but the sealed pins are waaay less likely to snap off.
ok have fun 👍

I love your dolls so much! do you ever release the print files you make? there's a few designs I'd love to print myself
thank you!
i'm of two minds about selling stls, but not doing it at the moment. on the one hand it would be easy, avoid the issue of shipping costs, and let people with resin printers get smoother, more professional dolls.
on the other hand, i want to keep control of my art, and not have it misused and repinted on etsy 18 times over. also, especially my older files have some quirks that are fine when i print and post-process the dolls myself, but would need to be fixed before selling the files. i am planning to get around to this regargless, but it will take some time.
additionally, i'm not sure how well my files would work on resin printers. PLA has a little flexibility and isn't as brittle as resin, so i print all the wrist/ankle/other bars as a part of the limbs. in at least some resins, these would snap, so the files would need an alternative version that has holes for metal bars instead. there might also be other edits i haven't thought about, what with the different weights of resin and filament.
definitive answer is.. maybe some day, but it's not super likely. i might end up selling some files through tumblr dms instead of an stl marketplace platform. my dolls don't necessarily have the kind of mass appeal where they would be a likely target for art theft, but i'd rather be careful than file copyright claims later.

Agni
Agni is the Hindu god of fire. He is regarded as the friend and protector of humanity, in particular, he safeguards the home. Various forms of fire are associated with Agni and include the sun, lightning, comets, sacrificial fire, domestic fires, the fire of the funeral pyre, and the digestive fire which is within all humans. Agni was especially important in the Vedic period (1500-500 BCE), and the Vedas contains more hymns to him than to any other deity. He is still considered today omnipresent though not directly worshipped. Agni knows the thoughts of all people and is a witness to all important actions, hence the use of fire in many important Hindu ceremonies such as marriages. He is also referred to in sacred texts such as the Mahabharata as the 'Oblation-devourer' and the 'Purifier'. With flaming hair and riding a goat, he is easily identified in Hindu art.
Agni's wife is the daughter of King Nila who impressed the fire god by being the only woman in the kingdom who managed to kindle a flame in the royal palace. In some myths, Karttikeya (Skanda), the Hindu god of war, is Agni's son and the result of Agni's conquest of the Pleiades, the wives of the Seven Sages.
Agni & Various Fires
Agni is the son of the Celestial Waters, and that element is closely connected with fire which is thought to be carried down to earth within rain. From there fire is drawn up by vegetation and so when two sticks are rubbed together fire appears. Agni is also responsible for lightning which is born from the god's union with the cloud goddess. Another fire Agni is associated with is the funeral pyre; in this role, he leads the dead to their final judgement by Yama, ruler of the Underworld.
Agni is perhaps most closely associated with sacrificial fires where he is thought to carry the offerings of humans to the gods. According to various myths, Agni was at first afraid to take on this duty as his three brothers had been killed already whilst performing the task. Consequently, Agni hid in the subterranean waters but, unfortunately, fish revealed his hiding place to the gods. As a result, Agni cursed them so that fish would become the easy prey of men. In another version it is frogs, then elephants, and then parrots which reveal Agni's attempts at hiding and the god punished them all by distorting their speech ever after. The final hiding place of Agni in this version was inside a sami tree and so it is considered the sacred abode of fire in Hindu rituals and its sticks are used to make fires. Reluctantly taking up his duty again Agni did negotiate by way of compensation to always receive a share of the sacrifice he carried to the gods and he was given the boon of ever-lasting life.
Agni appears in all forms of fire and even those things which burn well or have a certain lustre. In the Brhaddevata we are told that at one point Agni is dismembered and distributed among earthly things. The god's flesh and fat becomes guggulu resin, his bones the pine tree, his semen becomes gold and silver, his blood and bile are transformed into minerals, his nails are tortoises, entrails the avaka plant, his bone marrow sand and gravel, his sinews become tejana grass, his hair kusa grass, and his body hair becomes kasa grass which was used in sacrificial rituals.
Over time Agni's importance as a god diminishes, a fact explained in the Mahabharata as due to his overindulgence in consuming one too many offerings. In the Visnu Purana he is described as the eldest son of Brahma and Svaha is his wife. Together they had three sons, Pavaka, Pavamana, and Suchi, who in turn had 45 sons, which, including their fathers and grandmother, totals 49, the number of sacred fires in the Vayu Purana.
Agni, according to one Rigveda hymn attributed to the sage Vasistha, also has a darker side. Similar in nature to the 'flesh-eater' demons, the raksasa, he has two wickedly sharp iron tusks and he devours his victims without mercy. However, when called upon by the gods, Agni destroys the raksasa with his flaming spears. This episode, when Agni becomes a servant of the gods, is illustrative of his fall from the pinnacle of the pantheon.

ZeStupidArt Artist Information:
The ZeStupid Corner Art Commissions & Pricing
Introduction:
Now I know I’m not a very big or popular artist, but it warms my heart to see that you all love my content and I wanted to make it official. I have opened commissions (correction I’ve always been open to commissions), but I want to be able to get paid for what I do. I love art and I love making you guys happy. I do way more than just digital art, so here’s my criteria.
Artist Commission Pricing:

Linework: USD 15.00
Full Colored Linework: USD 25.00
Full Detailed Artwork (Backgrounds etc.): USD 40.00
Comics: USD 10.00 - 30.00
Comics are uncolored.
Case-by-Case Artwork: I can work out a price depending on what you want and what I’m capable of.
Deadlines: I try to complete artwork within 15 days. I have life events and work a full-time job like most adults, so I have to work around this too.
Refunds: No refunds after we come to an agreement on what you want, and I have already completed the artwork.
You can find some of my work on these pages:
Redbubble: https://www.redbubble.com/people/ZeStupidAUs/shop?asc=u&ref=account-nav-dropdown
Tumblr: https://zestupidart.tumblr.com/
3-D Printing Pricing:
I have recently gotten into 3-D printing, specifically resin printing and I wanted to start implementing it more for business purposes. I will list some information on my 3-D Printer and the dimensions of what I can print if you’re interested.
3-D Printer Model:
Anycubic Mono X 6KS
3-D Printer Dimensions
Machine Dimensions:
417x290x260mm/
16.4x11.4x10.2 in.(HWD)
Printing Dimensions:
200x195.84x122.4mm/
7.8x7.7x4.8 in. (HWD)

6K (5,760 x 3,600 pixels) resolution
Printing Speed:
15-60mm/h
Pricing: USD 15.00 – USD 200.00
Pricing will be case-by-case on this too. People usually charge for 3-D printing speed by the hour, but I am not so certain I would keep track of that, so I am making it case by case. A lot of things go into 3-D printing. The type of resin you use, the quality of the 3-D model, and the time it takes to make your vision a reality.
For example, I start this guy at USD 15.00 because he is a very detailed 3-D model on a small scale, plus I put so much detail into him:
Custom 3-D Model Commission Pricing:
3-D Model Pricing: USD 5.00 – USD 100.00
Most of my custom 3-D Models are made in Nomad Sculpt because I find it to be a very flexible and easy software to use. I have created such great content with it and would like to share my capabilities with you. I do create custom 3-D Models and sell .STL 3-D Model files over on my Etsy.

Word of Honor Poster Figs
The poster ad for the show is too iconic to not have a set of figs celebrating it!
The fig maker spent a lot of care and time on this set. These are not easy figs to make - there's a ton of detail on the costumes, and the pose is incredibly dynamic. The fans in China seemed really happy with how these turned out, and once these arrived on my doorstep, I could see why!
I'm really happy these figs arrived unscathed - there's so much going on with these I was worried something might get snapped off.
The only two assembly pieces were Baiyi and Lao Wen's fan, which were fairly easy to tuck into their respective hands.
Alright, time to get into the fig pictures! Here's the full poster again for reference purposes:
Dynamic indeed - just their hair alone!
These figs are a bit larger than the usual - a typical fig is about 8 cm. To the top of Lao Wen's hair bun is 12 cm, and then add on even more for Baiyi.
These figs actually stand up great. I was really worried about having them standing by themselves, just given the delicacy of the flowing hair, but the wide stance helps support them. The flowing robes do too, so even if they toppled back a bit the robe edges would catch them.
This is not my favorite hairstyle of Lao Wen's - I like his wispies around his face! But I will say I did appreciate he had a few different hairstyles throughout the show.
This is my favorite costume of Lao Wen's though!
Look at those robes and hair flying. Amazing.
I really appreciate how much detail the fig maker put into Lao Wen's red robe, with all the golden embroidery work even on the back. So nice.
The red and blue contrast is just gorgeous. The costumes for this show were just brilliant all the way around.
The detailing work on A-Xu's blue costume is rendered very well here too.
The fig maker did a beautiful job on A-Xu's hair and face here. Really nice.
Here's a pic of how they interlock a bit. I could have pushed them a little bit closer together, there's still a little bit of room in there before the flow of their costumes stop them. It actually helps make them more stable when they're interlocked together.
Here's all the details on the underside. They're all completely modeled out, with their black pants tucked into their black boots. I like the extra effort of the white underlayer for Lao Wen's robes, especially given that you can't really see it when the fig is standing.
The top front view of our two fighters. You can see A-Xu's sword mudra really well from this angle, and Lao Wen's blade hand as well.
And the same view, from the back. I really like A-Xu's married bun with hairpin style!
We also have a nice box card with the art here. I have the figs displayed just like this on my shelf, with the poster art behind them. They look wonderful!
Material: Resin
Fig Count: 492
Scene Count: 31
Rating: A dashing (and deadly) duo

PLEASE share those extraneous details you cut from the Lisa whump we need the lore/headcanons
I liked a lot of them, so, sure? XD A lot were embedded in other parts, so I'll post those parts in full with the extra/parentheticals highlighted.
First, not parentheticals, just the easiest things to chop out of a section that was already prose-heavy when I was trying to also convey urgency. Also a potential theme (learning vs. teaching) that I found interesting enough to chuck wholesale into my fic ideas document for later exploration:
"So when Alice designed her Theater, there was enough resin in it for this to revitalize? Like a tree in a Domain?" Jean asks. Even in the midst of the calm that she refuses to let become terror, Lisa feels a spark of pride. She may not be Jean's teacher in the way she is for Razor and Klee, but seeing someone untutored make connections between the information they're given and what they already know will always give her the same joy. "Yes," she says, in the same tone she would to one of those students, "very good.
and
Two years of helping seal Hermanubis, over and over, until it stopped breaking through to overwhelm Cyno and he could develop his own control. She'd done a great deal of research in those two years. Along with all the other learning she'd been doing at the Akademiya, of course. Sleeping two hours a night, working through every meal, walking about with a book in hand so as not to lose a single second in which she might be able to absorb more knowledge.... An unsustainable pace, but one she had sustained for longer than might seem humanly possible. Even then she had eventually burned out. (She sees herself in Jean, sometimes, young and determined and convinced that if she just keeps going, eventually she'll reach the breakthrough point where all the hard work at last becomes *easy*, and all that sacrifice is redeemed by what she gains.) Only after that catastrophic emotional crash had she learned the joys of relaxing, the delights of taking it slow. And the satisfaction of teaching, so much more rewarding than all that learning had ever been. The pursuit of knowledge requires constant sacrifice; *sharing* knowledge demands nothing, only doubles what is given. She had left her notes for Cyrus when she left the Akademiya, and he and Cyno far surpass her now in their expertise on this subject.
I had a whole thing going about "Vision users die young," based in part on a lore theory that I think I picked up from @chrysoula about Vision-users being (ultimately expendable) ways for Celestia to control/process elemental power, but also 50% a dig at the Genshin devs for refusing to give me any playable Beefy Grandpas or Tough Old Women. I pulled it out because all the references for it were an easy thing to rip for pacing:
Very little magic in the modern era doesn't rely on the elements. Even when scholars speak of "old techniques," they're talking about herbalism, which still involves the elemental affinities of certain plants, or tapping the leylines, which remains an occasional if dangerous recourse for those without Visions but had been much more common when Visions were much more rare. They were, before the Cataclysm. (The Akademiya quietly suppresses discussion of *why*.) But there are even older techniques from before the establishment of the Thrones, some still practiced in Liyue and Inazuma under the guise of traditional healing and martial arts, that draw on another source entirely. Her own lifeforce isn't a price Lisa *wishes* to pay. But it is one she knows how to. And it's one Celestia would always have demanded from her, anyway, for that Vision she's so ambivalent about. (People never seem to notice that they've never met a Vision-bearer who isn't *young*. Lisa has done her best to avoid exerting her power, to avoid paying that price into Celestia's coffers. She doesn't miss the irony now.)
(Jean was predestined to die young the moment her Vision appeared, but she'd been taught long before that to accept it as an honor, if in Mondstadt's defense. She would begrudge Lisa the chance to serve more than she would the risk.) (Lisa was predestined to die young the moment her Vision appeared, and she had recoiled from her fate as soon as she realized that truth. She has no desire to rush towards annihilation, even on Mondstadt's behalf.) (Practically, rationally: if they share the work, *both* of them have a better chance.)
(I do headcanon Lisa as the oldest Mondstadt character by at least 10 years, but mid-to-late-30s is far from old, just puts her that much closer to this theoretical fate.)
and (from Lisa accepting Jean's aid, which happened after the paragraph above in 1.0--moving that to earlier in the ficlet was the other major revision between it and 1.5, and was the reason I wrote that post about twisting Lisa's arm yesterday. I couldn't make her first thought believably be "fine, I'll do this solo" without upping the stakes with something like "Klee's stuck in that," which is a method I already used in the last promptfic, and Jean volunteering way earlier was IC for Jean and fixed that neatly). This whole bit's cut material so I won't color-code here:
Finally, just a bit of speculative magical (and "we don't talk about this in front of Celestia"-themed) worldbuilding that made this paragraph way too chunky:
Sumeran seals tend to use threes (for Dendro, Electro, and Pyro, they say; not for certain trio in their past), Liyue prefers sevens (all seven elements at once grant stability; certainly, with all the adepti also in that court, it has nothing to do with two ruling gods and five generals), and Inazuma likes fives (they're far too secretive to even give their justifications, let alone the historical context behind). Khaenri'ah was emphatically locked into pairs (too gnostic to admit the world has three parts), and Fontaine has a terrible, unstable tendency to use just one anchor-point (that Lisa hopes will change now that it's nearly wiped them out). Mondstadt doesn't have a sealing tradition in the first place as far as the Akademiya is concerned, but Lisa knows better. What else are the Four Winds?
#i ripped like 300 words out in total but a lot of them were just filler that slowed the pacing so i'm not bothering with every line#this is the actual Content#asked and answered#fic nattering#the shape of teyvat#the teaching thing is something i've had simmering in the back of my head as a lisa headcanon already#and now i am thinking. it could be a fic. if i wanted to delve deeper into that notion#...not that i need new fic ideas with my current backlog XD

so recently I've been wanting to paint the moulding in my bathroom navy blue, because 1) I thought it would look cool, and 2) I want to paint other rooms too but wanted to start small and my bathroom is extremely small so it would be a quick job. and I've kind of been planning on this for a couple months now but not getting around to buying the paint, until recently when my super came by to fix the giant hole over my bathtub (don't worry about it) and he painted the whole bathroom while he was at it.
which was really nice of him but he didn't do like. the best job. paint everywhere. and it's popcorn walls so it's not easy but he also used zero blue tape and got it on all kinds of stuff it wasn't supposed to be on and like. my guy.
so anyway a few days after this I woke up on a Saturday with a burning need to do something with my life, which is unusual because I've been in a depression hole (let's all speculate here about what could possibly be the reasons, plural). but the more I thought about going out the more I was like, augh, the ankle pain is just not worth doing any of these things. cost-benefit. sometimes it is. sometimes it's not.
so I bought paint instead
and
y'all
this is the most fun I've had in months
maybe over a year
I have been ripping apart my bathroom walls I have been peeling up paint I have been restoring the doorknob plates that were covered in paint but are actually kind of a pretty color once you get all the dark brown rust off of them. I have been repairing and covering up the sins of landlords past. I have been fighting with popcorn walls and winning.
I pulled the resin craft kit I bought months and months ago but never used off my shelf and did it last night around 10 pm because I realized it would look nice in there once I'm done. I'm going to put art in there, a risky business with all the leaking that happens in there (upstairs neighbors be like), but I'm going to find a way to waterproof everything or risk it.
the entire bathroom is in chaos and it's too small to be upended like that for so long, my apartment floors & rugs are covered in paint that flaked off and dried spackle pieces, I keep refusing to change into painting clothes so all my clothes have paint on them, and I'm having the best fucking time of my life. I want to paint my kitchen. I want to paint my whole house. I want to attack everyone I see with a paintbrush. this is great. I'm awake and alive and it's not even that bad.

Star Wars OC - Peugnius-elle "Khaho Mun"
(All of my art descriptions is Thai, I will translate to this as conclusions)
Peugnius-elle "Khaho Mun" (surname "Peugnius", name "Khaho mun" or simply "Mun") (elle is word for women)
Age : 20 (at ROTS)
A girl from the planet of the sea "Jintana" who was accepted as a Padawan. The Jintanan honored her family to become the rulers of the planet.
At first, she was almost an apprentice of Master Adi Gallia, but Yoda came to take care of her instead because he saw her dark visions. Until one day, when Khaho Mun had a nightmare about her home planet, she rushed to it immediately.
Jintana was in a war between the invaders and the natives. Khaho Mun asked for help from the Jedi... but no one came because the Republic made a treaty with those planets, leading to the genocide of the race, and she was the only one who survived.
She kept her sadness and resentment, floating on the sea for many days until she was rescued by an old man, Count Dooku... He knew there was a Padawan here, and he saw the potential in Khaho Mun, and so the beginning of the Sith Lord's apprenticeship began...
Khaho Mun will not die at after ROTS, she will returns to her homeplanet to seek the way to make it in her hands again.
---------------------------------
About Jintanan
The Jintanan are not humans. It is said that thousands of years ago they were short, short-legged, and fat (I ref this from penguins). Average height is 140 centimeters. They have a big eyes than human. They can hold an breath around 20 minutes (look at their lungs). Their heart contain a little bulb that keep a little fragment of gem.
The Jintanan reach adulthood at the age of 16, and their maximum lifespan is 60, but few live that long.
Khaho Mun is taller than other people because she was fed vegetables and milk by the Jedi. Originally, the Jintanan ate fish as their main food.
----------------
About the planet Jintana
Jintana is the planet of sea, the sea contain a dust of gem and there are a gemstone. Jintanan crave of them and made an culture about the gem.
The sea of Jintana can melt every gems, including Kyber Crystal. So make sure you won't drop your lightsaber there! To make a gem will not melt, Jintanan will coat them with a transparent resin, prevent from melting and make a gem more shiny.
Khaho mun and Jintana's princess dress
The outfit is designed to be easy to remove when swimming. It has a two-piece swimsuit underneath, but since she wasn't at Jintana anymore, she changes into underwear that mimics the shape of the swimsuit instead.
She wears a blue heart-shape gemstone as her necklace.
My first drawing of her, still don't know how this picture could lead me to the rabbit hole of dark side.

thinking about babea au and beatrice taking ava home to mary’s apartment the first time for a movie night. standing in the grocery store with mary live-texting the ensuing Gay Overplanning to shannon
(these, softer days. shannon still trying hard to reconnect, fighting the scar tissue on her back as she moves through her bō forms and bea soft-stepping into the secluded courtyard to make light, but expressionless suggestions. bea having read about therapeutic matial arts, learning to move around injuries, the half-charred bones in shannon’s back, the times she has to take her crutches back out of the closet. shannon crying privately in the bathroom mirror when she finds two old stickers from the star wars books she found for bea in a discount store years and years ago. a sticker of darth vader on one crutch and c3po on the other. bea’s queer thinking and the articles she has downloaded on disability in sci-fi, how she’ll get cross about it if you press)
(they’re learning to love each other again)
bea in the snack aisle doing the social equivalent of quantum mathematics trying to guess what snacks ava wants. nothing with apple. does she prefer savoury or sweet or bitter or-
mary sending bea off into the attached clothing section with a €10 note to get her new socks while mary pays for €50 worth of sugar, hoping bea will be too distracted to do the easy math & guess what it costs. she could use the ocs card but she doesn’t. wants to give this to bea. like she paid for the takeout on her first at-home visit with lilith. because this is her kid on a tragic technicality.
picking ava up in one of the ocs vans and bea kind of shivering with anticipation on the way, mary swatting her with the sleeve of her hoodie while they idle in traffic like ‘cheer up. we’re not in your stupid emily dickinson poem.’
bea obligingly saying, ‘because i could not stop for death, he kindly stopped for me. the carriage held but just ourselves, and immortality.
‘thanks, nerd.’
but it calms her, and she’s all smiles when they collect ava, an older ocs sister leaning in and tracing a cross onto bea’s forehead as she stands waiting with ava in the foyer. it’s not uncomfortable, just the blessing you give to someone much younger. for a nun it’s like saying ‘good luck.’
at home with the mound of snacks and ava laughing at it all, but summoning bea down to kiss her cheek. ‘thanks bea. for the thought.’
(ava who has so seldom been thought of in her life)
‘what are we watching?’
‘oh, whatever you want. i have most blockbusters from the last 38 years.’
‘oddly specific but okay.’
bea blushing like, ‘i was going year-by-year and then it was time for morning drills.’
they watch jurassic park because ava loves dinosaurs, and bea’s read her the novels, and of course bea’s like, ‘did you know that one day before the release of this film scientists actually published a paper about a weevil preserved in resin, whose remains offered up what researchers believed were the oldest strands of DNA ever recovered? amber can preserve intracellular structures.’
‘they really did visit laboratories when they designed some of these sets.’
‘it’s an interesting commentary on how our best human ventures can be corrupted by imagination. if we recreated dinasaurs they would look different. usually fossilisation destroys DNA though.’
‘the idea that they collected so much data on species from amber so quickly is quite outlandish.’
bea falling asleep towards the end of the movie because she’s been up since dawn. little bruise blooming on her chin from a hook kick demonstrated a little too enthusiastically by one of the trainees. mary coming in to see ava not watching the last few scenes, just watching bea in the low light, half-draped in a quilt, wearing her oversize green hoodie and pyjama bottoms.
and I'm like "No! That's the thing I'm SENSITIVE ABOUT!"
