I have a lot of thoughts about John Doe and fear

Everything from his secrets, to his anger, to his narration, to his more self-contained and tangible irrational childish fears. I have lots of thoughts about all of it. John Doe is terrified, All The Time

He lies and gets defensive when he's ashamed, he shouts and curses and gets verbally abusive and goes on villain monologues when he feels trapped, he gets spacey and lost in describing all the gruesome details when he's freaked out and overwhelmed, he narrates things to Arthur that he obviously already knows are happening when he panics, and he's scared of the dark. He also has trust issues, and sees any living being as a potential threat, even if it's just a deer or an owl. This guy is a bundle of fear

How I sleep knowing that not only has Terry befriended the dragang, but he is actively in a trio dynamic with sorvus, Karim is dead, Runaan and Ethari are back together, Janai and Amaya are married and alive, Rayla is unghosted, Soren never forgave Viren, and Rayla and Callum ended up together (it's everything I dreamt of pre-season 5)

wonders never cease. i did not write that post this morning thinking we would get word for word quotes that embodies new member vs old member mentality the very same day.

and like, from a *normal* story perspective, like a scripted story, this mindset from kab is the most common dialogue when the hero reaches a failure. It's something the audience usually latches on to, usually sheds a tear over. it's heartwarming. especially her line seconds before:

KAB: “bacon im so sick of fucking loosing all the time”

but on lifesteal it's just not good enough. the server isn't about getting to a point of defeating the villain and no longer loosing. it's, to use mer's essay "a very good story about failure". it's about what you do and who you are in the face of failure. embracing it, not fearing it. learning to not let it hurt you, not learning to avoid it.

and, to her credit, kab is throwing herself into enough things to maybe learn this lesson by the end of the season. only time will tell. character still bothers me to shit, but she might learn.

OH WAIT there's a witch hunt for the Hellfire club, which means all the boys are in danger from the townspeople. OH WAIT the boy who came back to life has returned from the West, the same boy whose assumed death jumpstarted this small town's curse in the first place! The same boy who apparently everyone and their fathers knew was gay...

Now picture how that would look in an 8 episode story format, leading up to a final battle lasting about 2+ hrs, and that's loosely how s5 is gonna go down.
