Really funny to my every time I notice a show or movie doing that thing where they do a close up on a character's lips to indicate that the main/pov character is attracted to them. Genuinely thought for the longest time that close ups on a character's lips were always just a way to say that we're paying close attention to what they're saying, like so focused as to be reading their lips as they talk or something, until I had it spelled out for me by a few "how to recognize a crush" lists and few shipping fanfics that allo people sometimes stare at lips when they want they want to kiss someone. So like. That might actually be a matter of being distracted, not attentive

Might just have missed something in the relevant episodes, but I'm not really sure why a lot of people in the fandom seem to refer to the ending of Future Steven as a gem corruption thing? Isn't corruption something the diamonds did to other gems, not something a gem does to themself? Or do I have my lore wrong. Also Steven's already been known to shape-shift uncontrollably, especially to reflect his emotional state and self-perception (like in So Many Birthdays back in s1). Where are people getting the corruption thing from?

Listening to the full/extended version of the Steven universe theme song is rly funny because it is solidly set in a s1-2 point in the series, and that means the "what we're fighting for" part deal psychic damage to hear

Pearl's "I'm fighting for what Rose Quartz believed in (not my own, independent motivations)" and even worse Steven's "I'm fighting for everything other people want me to be (all the crushing weight of expectations)"

They haven't gone through the character growth realizing how much those perspectives are fucking them up yet <//3

it is very funny to me how steven fusing with another gem for the first time ever was from him and amethyst bonding over their shared self worth issues and feelings of inadequacy and weakness. and then that made the most playful silly little guy

Watching shows I already like with my family is an almost comedically good way for me to slap myself upside the head with how ridiculous my brain is.

What do you mean one of the other people exhaled slightly audibly and my first thought was "did that sound exasperated or disapproving? do they have moral qualms with the behavior on screen? are they judging me for liking this show? can I avoid judgement if I just never mention that this is one of my favorite episodes? wait have they been disliking this the whole time? For some reason tho, in that one episode where Garnet falls apart over the Sardonyx thing, the moment where Ruby has just flipped the table, and Steven is just sitting there tears in his eyes before throwing his plate at the ground and storming off. That one hits me in the "Oh I Know Exactly How That Emotion Feels"

I'm not really an angry person, if anything I kinda struggle to feel anger w lot of the time, so even though I do usually understand characters being angry I don't usually resonate with it, or feel it, or anything
