They weren't lying, this psychological recovery journey got hands
#3rd month of taking antidepressants and knowing that There Is something majorly fucked up within me#i feel like im becoming normal bit by bit but also now my other problems become my aparent to me#i started to notice i have this childlike simplistic attitude towards wonder and relationships but also at the same time i understand the#severity of troubles around me on the level of burned out adult#but also it takes me from a week to several years to realize what people meant#and yet sometimes i get everything clearly#there are still ways to go#i still have to find a therapist#cuz psych diagnosed me with BPD; geberal anxiety disorder and ADHD and said i have autism signs that could explain the development of BPD#but all he can do is medical treatment which is not the kind you need for BPD and autism#im not saying you can treat autism but yeah he meant i need a psychotherapist for these instead of psychiatrist#i hope i can complete this mental health journey bcuz i feel like i finally got hit with all the weight of burnout i had all these years#i did some creative work in the august/early september but rn its all touching grass in real world and playing games#like i cook i help my family with chores i play fortnite i clean up my room i go out at 1am to look at the stars#all of my own volition without feeling like i need to push myself to do this#I'm scared that making art is not one of those things#i often have a thought that maybe art isnt really for me and in a perfect world i wouldnt do it#but then why am i so good at it#like...#petrotalk

Found some paperwork from when I was in kindergarten
Guess who was supposed to get a referral for a physiotherapist (that never was filled)
#its me that's who#i knew about everything else on there (like how I was supposed to be evaluated again in grade 2 [7 y/o] but never was)#and all the results say basically “this child is really advanced and has a abnormally large vocabulary for the age”#“but also noticable gross motor control issues that should be monitored”#nothing was monitored or readdressed#basically a ton of early signs of developmental issues that went ignored by everyone that was supposed to take care of me :)#I understand why the autism went unnoticed - it was 2006 and i was hyperverbal and outgoing#but the gross motor control (proprioception walking running jumping etc.) should have been addressed#ESPECIALLY SINCE IT'S STILL AN ISSUE 20 YEARS LATER HOLY FUCK#if i could've gotten a diagnosis for any of this at 5/6 y/o everything would have been so much easier#i am upset.

does anyone remember that episode of merlin about the girl who lowkey had autism and was meant to marry arthur but neither of them really wanted to cause he was still pining over gwen and she was probably gay idk and by the end of the episode they cured her so that she'd stop eating frogs and gave her a romcom makeover and they decide to not get married cause it sucks
yeah i think about that episode a lot. that's it, that's the post.
#i haven't watched this show since i was in 7th grade and i'm in college now#i think it's been like nine years#so forgive me if i'm forgetting stuff it's cause i dont care#merlin bbc#bbc merlin#her name was Elena thank you google#elena merlin#actually autism#actually autistic#it's me i'm autistic#also she was a changeling which a lot of people have connected to autism historically and culturally#for various reasons#that's a whole other post though#i literally think about this episode more than any other#it's definitely in my top 5#early signs of autism i missed: my fixation on this episode#also i called myself a changeling long before my autism diagnosis#that's also a whole other post#lmtposting#only the most topical discussion found on my blog

posts that will get me hash tag cancelled (maybe) but these sorts of posts are really interesting to me bc i grew up in a heavily muslim country. i know what it means bc it was just part of the vernacular where i was. i am not immune to cultural appropriation, of course, but when does existing adjacent to a culture become part of your culture? I ask myself that question a lot and random little things like this niggle it.
#its just interesting#once again some of my intersections with autism and race in my early childhood#and growing up in a sub-saharan african country in late childhood#has really impacted how i think about race and culture...#this isn't a what about MEEEE ism it simply prompted musing. op's critique is apt and needed#and i made my own post bc this would be really annoying to add to op's post. anyway (peace signs and fades out)

skyward sword is the only zelda game im ever gonna give a shit about because i played it with my dad (id watch him play and help him with puzzles and vice versa) and it brings the Happy Memories
he also played twilight princess but i thought it was too scary lol
#all i ever played of TP was picking up chickens and floating off the roofs of buildings in the starting town#an early autism sign was my dad asking me (after id been doing that for 40+ min) 'how can you do that for so long???'#and for skyward we got the version with the game ost cd included and it started my love of game music

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that presents a range of signs, often appearing in early childhood. Common signs of autism include delayed speech, difficulty with social interactions, repetitive behaviors, and sensitivity to sensory input like sounds or lights. Children may also show limited eye contact or struggle with changes in routine. Early intervention is crucial for effective management. At Kids Neuro Clinic, specialized programs for Autism treatment in Dubai are designed to support children with autism, helping them improve communication, social skills, and overall development through tailored therapies and expert care.

Idk maybe I've just always been tired
#speculation nation#i was called a turtle as a kid bc i took things at my own pace#i claimed it as my own thing. and thus turtles are one of my absolute favorite animals.#maybe it was early signs of chronic fatigue. maybe it was autism. maybe it was adhd lack of focus.#who knows!!!! we can only speculate lol

How convenient of Oreos to come in three wide sleeves so that i can eat one from each and have them stay PERFECTLY. EVEN. and definitely not be upset if someone eats too many from one row.
baby me, sorting m&ms by color and then into a gradient: now this is how you have fun!
