the thing about elpheba was that she Was that formative bitch of color for me as a young child like even when i saw her being performed by white women she was so vehemently othered in the same way i myself was as a nonwhite girl in a white school and she was always performed with the same exact kind of aloofness, distaste, defensiveness, and mistrust that i instinctively understood because it often was the only way to survive while retaining any sort of dignity and respect for yourself. her being played by a black woman who fought specifically for elpheba's character design to retain multiple links to black femininity just makes sense in my head because honestly elpheba was never white (literally and figuratively).

i think any possible answer for what pops the 'we need to talk about josh' trophy will be wild to me. if it's just his monster ending, that's so goofy, given dr. hill says that fate is worse than death. but ballistic moon adding a proper josh lives ending after saying they're keeping the narrative intact is a BOLD move considering smg had a firm stance on josh's endings and seemed committed to never undoing/retconning them.

kim dokja hoped a story wouldn't end because he was scared of the life he would have after the final chapter (and whether he would live at all). and in a sense his wish comes true because twsa is immediately, eternally, continued for him.

..I got a question.
How come everytime there's a tomboy character/more ..intimidating? Female character..most fanarts make her..manish and change her outfit to be completely ugly, she's no longer pretty and she just..looks like a dude.
Like. Happens with AppleJack and Abby and probably a few others I can't remember
It just..seems to happen a lot?? Like why can't they be pretty and tomboyish??
This is the same people that deyassify any character they come across and give all of the characters the most basic..boring redesigns in the world and then call it..Fixing It. Cuz I guess..fictional qorlds aren't meant to be fun either.

Haven't been talking to GCG much lately for various reasons but then today he told me he started watching Better Call Saul.
I am aware it is a popular piece of media, I know I'm not the only person who likes it.
However......

I keep seeing these posts for writers about "how to avoid using the word 'said' all the time" and...like on the one hand sometimes "said" is the right word sure, but also I can't help but think about how I write because this is literally never a problem for me. What I write is more like...observations and actions I guess? I just straight up don't acknowledge they "said" things unless it seriously matters. Like
"We should get going." He was right, of course.
Or I'll have the character being spoken to take note of their expression/demeanour or something else. It more or less does the same thing as "said"

man there's so many rp blogs on the Splatoon tag... gives me whiplash sometimes when one of them is like "I HATE SALMON RUN I HATE GRIZZCO" and I'm like ??? until I realize it's someone saying that in the context of the universe and not the real world where Salmon Run is just a fun game mode

it is really interesting that john and arthur are representative of the same internal dilemma but with completely opposite ways of handling. john has a specific self awareness of his role in the cycle of violence and gang life - and decides through a lot of rdr2 to be avoidant about that reality. he grows through that as proven by the epilogue, but its interesting that his choice for trying to grapple with the outcome is 1. choosing to become a cog in the machine of violence 2.avoiding all attachment and abandoning everything (which cycles in with the themes of the first game not being able to outrun his past and the cyclical violence embedded in american history yadda yadda)
whereas arthur deals with this reality by swinging from denying the facts and reflecting on them interchangeably. and trying his best to aid and care for the people at camp. arthur is introspective and thoughtful and places a lot of stock into the values of protecting the people there. he does this through being involved with everyones business at all times and loyalty to dutch. he feels immense guilt for his actions but acts in contradictory ways when he has dialogue in kind.
what both john and arthur have in common though is believing themselves to be nothing more than their violence at the beginning of the game. they both believe of themselves in some capacity that goodness (read: redemption) is beyond their reach though arthurs is a little more complex for him. for john in the first game, it really hammers this point home with the tragedy of his end (which i think is a strange choice given how it goes down but thats not for Here) and i am wondering if something similar will occur with arthur (which i think it will since the game has a tendency to punish arthur for the loyalty in his character)
read dead in all instances is a critical examination and critique of america (which. yeah. its rockstar lmao) and it takes care to hammer in the depths of corruption on all levels. between people but also in the government and the law and the order. it poses the question of who can be redeemed, truly, if anyone in a nation like this and then follows up with what is redemption exactly? and what things - what actions can compensate for it if any at all? both arthur and johns characters grapple with these ideas but they handle them so differently in a way (yet so the same in others they are so brothers fr) that fascinates me... very inch resting .....
anyways i dont think this makes any sense i am just yapping this is not Meta this is just stuff in my brain

Rereading THG trilogy for the first time since age 12 is wild because it's such a different experience. Like at no point did I ever think "yeah that looks fun" or anything, but like when I looked at Katniss then I was like "she's closer to being an adult" in terms of age. That might say something as to how I viewed teens back then but still. Now, being in my 20s, 8 years older than Katniss was in Mockingjay, and having been 16-17 I like feel the full brunt of just how absolutely fucked what happened to her was. I mean, at no age ever is it cool to be put into the arena to fight to the death but it just hits especially hard now because I mean she and Peeta and Rue and Prim and everyone else (except people like Haymitch, Snow, Effie, Cinna, etc.) were just kids. And like, back when I first read it the only thing I could really relate to was 'i definitely wasn't ready to start providing for my family at age 11 the way Katniss did' and 'im the same age as Rue was when she was horribly murdered'. But having the life experience now to be like "I definitely wasn't put together enough to go fight to survive in an Arena or become the face of a rebellion at age 16" it just kinda changes your view on things y'know

i wonder if the people who model for stock images ever wonder where they've reached on the internet. like yeah corporations would use you for marketing images. but also you're saved on some 14 year old's computer because they desperately needed "man in suit stock image" to learn to draw their blorbo and found you first.

the drama/commentary youtuber sphere is so strange to me because it seems as though theyre constantly cannibalizing each other. someone makes a callout video for someone else, the person called out makes a response, and then theres waves of content for everyone else in a 100 mile radius to dissect the situation
