So imagine that you every sitcom you ever watched now and growing up the simpsons, futurama, disenchantment, family guy, the Cleveland show, American dad, Bob's burgers, the great north, Central Park, Duncanville, bless the harts, big mouth, the king of the hill, Archer, Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites, and house-broken along with inside job and Daria and finally south park were smashed into one world. Pretty crazy sounding right?

Anyway you moved into this insane city for Quote on quote work and you move into a fairly quiet neighborhood. You open a bakery and that's where meet each genderbend version of everybody mainly the kids and their male relatives.

During the day You are a quiet baker, but at night You are known as the famous Urban legend called the HellCat a famous Seriel killer who targets abusive parents and bring children to better homes or you take care of them yourself until you can find a better home for them.

As you go and mind your business, you soon catch the eyes of a bunch of interested husbands and boyfriends who are a little bit tired of their life with their wives or girlfriends, but while hanging out and spending time with them, you also have to keep your secret from their children that seem to have a very good idea about what you are Already.

Then the hardest parts come in the future, will you keep your secret safe or does everybody have to die?

Ok so this is gonna be insane so be ready For millennial crap and nostalgic treasures to join together in unholy matrimony😱😱😱

For the latest batch of FOX adult animation shows from 2019 onward, favorite character from: Bless the Harts, Duncanville, HouseBroken, The Great North, Krapopolis, Grimsburg, and Universal Basic Guys?

Bless the Harts: Wayne. Ike Bernholtz does a great job as a loveable southern dad. As for the show itself, it's okay. I couldn't really get into it as it's charming but not really that funny and the characters aren't anything I haven't seen before.. aside from Jesus who is pretty great and Wayne is something i've seen before but hard not to love regardless. He's like the good counterpart to McMUrray from letterkenny. I get why the show has fans, I think it's shared universe connection with King of the Hill is neat and more shows should have mega lo mart pop up, the way many shows after and during superstore have cloud 9 pop up (Not a fan of that show either, but I like a good shared universe).

Duncanville: Duncan's dad Jack, played solidly by ty burrell. This show.. is agressively mediocre. I have never seen a show reach the middle this hard. I wanted to like it: I like a good teen slice of life show, I love amy Pohler and Ty Burrel, but my god the characters are one note. Mike Scully can do better.. while his simpsons era is pretty rough as it goes, it wasn't without humor and he did pre show running days write one of the greatest non sequiters of a subplot ever created

Everything about this scene is great: "First you get the sugar", the animation in homer's rant and of course after rewatching this episode one of my faviorite weird simpsons bit: the british man

The show itself is nothing I haven't seen before and the creative team can do better. Amy Poehler especially.

HouseBroken: No real faviorites. I watched the first ep.. and could not get into this and the more I read the less I cared, especially the whole thing about the leads being treated as "married" despite the fact.. neither of them choose this? Honey's husband was chosen for her by her owner. It's fine to explore that idea of two dogs being set up as mates entirely by their owners and how unsatisfying that could be emotionally, but don't try to pitch it like someone she clearly dosen't love or like being around and didn't have a choice in being with should be her husband because of a marriage she didn't choose.

The show itself is mediocre and it's the unfortuante pattern with the bulk of the shows here. There isn't a lot of effort or style. It's why i'm badly waiting for the Bloom County animated show to happen. Besides being something i've wanted since I was a teen that i'm deathly afraid has been scrapped, the strip it's based on, while one of my faviorite things also just has a unique style to it in both art and writing. It'd be something specail like Bobs Burgers or Great North. Instead the bulk of shows we get are bog standard animated shows that either waste a good premise or have a generic one. This one is the former, as the IDEA is great, it just dosen't really make good jokes or drama with it.

The Great North: The one great show in this block and the best show in animation domination right now. Bobs is still great. A favorite is hard with this show as all of the main cast is great and the side cast has Bethany and a few other standouts, but Beef wins. He's one of the best sitcom dad's ever, much like Bob before him (And cocurrently with him since this is fox and all) a man whose inherently weird and deeply focused on fishing, the alaskin wildlife, yet dosen't try to hold his kids down to his style, encourages them, loves them, and supports them. He's a good man dealing with trauma from a deeply terrible marriage and sad childhood, who you can't help but root for, Hank Hill with less of a stick up his ass (Helped by having a much healthier father figure in Delmer to ballance out his own parents).

The show itself is one of my faviorites running, a warm blanket of comfort I constantly worry won't last, but i'm loving while it's here. It's got a truly stacked voice cast: faviorites of mine Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate, Will Forte and Jane Lynch join with actors who have become faviorites thanks to this series Paul Rust, Aparna Nancherla (Who also has a fucking great guest role on Abott Elementary), and Dulce Sloan. The Tobins have the nice vibes of the belcher from their sister show, weird and unique but loving, but still feel unique, with their alaskan lifestyle making for some weird traits and most character pairings being comedic gold on some level. We also get Will Forte constantly putting his foot in his mouth about how hot his dad is

If you can't enjoy that, I don't know what to say to that frankly. It's Tobias Funke levels of foot in mouth syndrome I didn't know could be reached by any other character.

The show is helped by it's consitant evolution: where as most shows, even it's big sister bobs burgers, on fox tend to live in a stasis with maybe one or two changes and if theyd idn't start that way theys ure end up there, the great north gently changes the status quo as it goes: Beef has slowly processed his wife leaving him over the last 4 seasons and likely into the next, going from his deep denial in the pilot, to slowly dating again to his current steady and adorable relationship with Carissa. Youngest Moon has a slow burn relationship with Quinn. The Family gains a new member in Aunt dirt, Beef's elderly aunt who turned out to have been living in a bunker on the property. I mean look i'll gladly greet any show that puts more Jane Lynch in it, especailly when they had none, but dirt is fresh.

Finally the show is nicely progressive: The main cast is mostly white with Honeybee being the only exception, but the side cast has plenty of indigenous alaskans, the way the state was colonized is not ignored, and biggest of all it's the first solidly long running fox show to have a queer character in the main cast, and the first I've spotted in this to have said character not be a sterotype. Ham is just a weird spacey guys who loves making cakes and his boyfriend, while Dirt is out and proud after years shoved in the closet and then in a bunker. Both deal with issues but their unique ones, moon dealing with the fact his coming out wasn't a big deal and he did so several times and the media telling queer youth coming out IS a big deal (Which it can be but dose'nt have to), and Dirt dealing with finally being openly gay and worried about if she can handle it. The characters sexualities are part of their characters without being the only thing there and tha'ts lovely. This show is damn near perfect and deserves full seasons again. Which it's probably still getting but shoudln't be crammed into the early half of the year with the excess burned off later. Same with Bob's burgers. As for why that's happening...well we do have three other shows.

Krapopolis:

Yeah Krapopolis was already ice skating uphill before it even launched: It was announced as being the first cartoon on the block chain and just before launch Richard Ayodade did a glowing quote for transphobe and wankphesant Grant Lineham's book, something that he's STILL never properly adressed. So disney thought keeping him in hamster and gretel was okay.. but actual trans content was a bridge too far?.. yeah that tracks. I dont' know what I was expecting. I was also expecting Fox to recast him but that never happened.

Still the show had Hannah Waddingham and Matt Berry and was created by Dan Harmon, who has a pretty good track record (even if Rick and MOrty has gone off the rails it started well) and a solid premise of a well meaning king in one of the first cities in the world.

In practice.. it's a pretty stock family sitcom that wastes Berry on a character whose only trait is I LIKES TO HAVE SEX AND DON'T LOOK CONVENTIONALLY ATTRACTIVE. I really need to watch what we do in the shadows to see a show that actually know what it's got, one that will have his character make a dead racoon powered jerkoff machine, but also have comedic depths. I mean he's also making a frankenstines monster or talking about NEW YORK CITTTAAYYY or pretending to be a bartender or shouting bat. I... may need to make that a retrospective next year, if nothing else to just finally sit down and watch the show.

The idea is good but it's used to just make a stock sitcom beneath everyone except Ayodade, who fucking deserves it. No one else here deserves this. I will not accept a matt berry animated series I do not deserve. And yes that's my main sticking point: Matt Berry is one of my faviorite comedic actors, able to bring life and energy into any role from when I first saw him on mighty boosh, to his criminally underseen roles on toast of london and snuffbox, to present day where he finally got his flowers with what we do in the shadows. He's done some voice work but hasn't comitted to a full series before this as he's been so damn busy, and it's a fucking waste. Same with Hannah Waddingham. The Garfield Movie, no matter what you think of it, uses her WAY better and actaully gets who it has. Get these two to Helluva Boss or Hazbin Hotel PRONTO.

Grimsburg: This one also just kinda exists and wastes talent actors. You got John Hamm to play Will Arnett congradulations. It has a good premise at least and unlike a lot of these tries to use it, it's just not a premise for me and dosen't seem THAT far removed from the usaul adult cartoon formula that was already tired and not well liked before this show happened.

Universal Basic Guys: Joke about it being basic goes here. I will be kind: I love the theme song, and I love fred Armisen being in a main role. I wanted to love this one more but it's the same song and dance: decent premise (Some blue collar workers get 3000 a month from a UBI program), agressively stock execution. This one is especailly stock as NONE of the characters stand out. Even Hank's brother, the funniest character here, is still your stock chill weirdo who goes on adventures. But he's at least fun to watch with his weird yogi bear cadance and insane b plots. The show itself isn't: it's the same stuff we've already seen done way better on simpsons and family guy reheated twice.

This was the most bitter of these so far.. and understandably so. Outside of Bless the Harts which while not for me, at least has some heart to it and the masterpiece that is the great north, none of these have gone on too long and no one has really cared they existed after they first aired. Krapopolis got the wrong kind of buzz for being "the first cartoon on the blockchain" something that didn't materalize as Krypto fizzled out before that could happen, but that's about it. These shows make watching the Simpsons and Bobs each week live a task as I have to kill half an hour between them. I'm BADLY hoping Bloom County wasn't shelved as Fox needs another show anchoring the block. I mean from the looks of hitpig a berkely breathead work can go wrong, but I have hope i'll get the cartoon i've dreamed of out of this. Please fox. Please.
