I'm focusing hard on budgeting, and one of the things I want to do more of in the coming year is support independent creators/small groups on Patreon and Substack, even if I can only do a little bit at a time. Not that I've been super productive on this front or anything recently, but I figured the heads up is maybe worth it: Excerpts from my writing (Renegade Archangels, The Voyage of Yggdrasil in particular) are going to pretty much stop completely. I still plan on posting some character development and stuff here, but I think as a whole I'm done posting original writing here. The odd prompt may slip through, but I doubt it will be much. I'm starting to get to a point where I don't really want to share that particular art of mine anymore. It's highly personal, means the world to me, and I'm honestly just done equating the worth of my story to the lack of traction its gotten over the years. It's for me, i make it for myself, and I need to learn to love it for what it is. Sharing that piece of my soul just hurts me too much, honestly. I'm still willing to answer any asks or give occasional updates, but I probably won't volunteer a lot anymore.

The other part of this is that I'm thinking of starting to write on a typewriter. This is mostly to cut off my access to the backspace button in the hopes that it will force me to actually commit to writing instead of starting and never finishing anything. But as a result, I'm not feeling like retyping things just to post them here.

Ok I'm making an official post for Estrials. (or well official until I make a better one)

Everything below cut so I don't make anyone scroll past the novel length (/hj) post I'm about to make when they're just trying to browse their dash :]

Alright so Estrials! They're a species I made up (though they are definitely inspired by some other things like atla cause of the elemental abilities) and they can be anthro, feral, or even like catboy esque(?) (for the lack of a better term) (an example of what I mean would be my sona)

Heres some examples of existing Estrials (in order: my sona (he/it/pup) (small child edition), evil xisuma (little creature and non little creature forms), jimmy (again little creature and non little creature forms), and bigb (little creature and non little creature forms) gotta love bigb and his little sweater) (also ex is part voidwalker too which is why he looks so different from the others, so like yeah you go combine Estrials and another species that would be epic)

Here we have some of my ocs and a few of the others listed above! Ryder is also part voidwalker and technically doesn't have a little creature form, but I did include a little bust shot doodle of him

If you're still here, now I'm going to tell you how to make your own! (please do I beg I want more little creatures in the world)

Ok so, they are an open species, though there are a few rules (both like actual rules and trait rules so you stay in line with the species)

-First rule: don't be a dick. I will revoke your Estrial rights if you're not a decent person (no like actually I can't take your character but I can make a list of no good icky people so other Estrial fans know not to interact with you)

-2nd rule: have fun! No really I'm not going to be an evil overlord about people making Estrials. Just enjoy yourselves and be kind to others

-3: more of me just saying this than a rule but you can totally have more than one Estrial! Make like 50 of you want I really don't care

Now rules for like traits and stuff

-1: your Estrial has to have some sort of wings (preferably feathered ones but you can do bug or bat wings if you want) (mechanical wings are also cool! Especially if they're meant to be like a prosthetic or something that would be sick) and some sort of horns (literally any horns idc go wild) you can have any number of these traits too

-2: only one elemental ability per Estrial please (or none at all, you can make an element-less Estrial if you want) there's only one Estrial that has more than one elemental ability and he's not even really an Estrial (it's my sona, it's complicated and lore related don't ask unless you want a novel length reply full of lore)

-3: they have to be either based off of some sort of canine or some sort of feline, though you can totally add features from other things (ex: lizards or fish or deer idk) as long as the base creature that has most of the features showing (so like the main body and head I guess?) is a canine/feline you're good (so like the tail, legs, and even ears can be some other creature if you want) (River, shown above, has a fish tail and some fins kinda like vaporeon. So really, go wild)

-4: any patterns and colors are ok, so yeah make that sparkle dog looking thing !! Go wild, be free my friends. Make the shadow the hedgehog Estrial (no actually you totally could)

Ok no more rules! Info time 😈😈

-Estrials can be any size that's bigger than like a small dog (so like chihuahua ish or bigger) and smaller than a horse (yippee big creature)

-The anthro and catboy(?) Estrials can be any human height btw (anthros can be a little smaller than humans too as a treat)

-They can have any length of fur (so yeah you could make a hairless one, I'd actually be real interested to see that someone do it before I do) and be from any region (hence the different fur lengths. Some of them live in real cold places and have to be real fluffy to keep warmth in, and some live in warmer places and have a lot less fur to cool off easier)

-All Estrials can hide their wings (like magic poof they're gone completely and then poof they're back now) and the catboy(?) ones can sometimes hide all their Estrial features (so like their nose, horns, ears, wings, and tails)

-I'm leaving a whole lot up to interpretation so like go wild I guess. Just don't do anything too weird.. I don't want strange things associated with my species..

Ok now the big thing: elemental abilities

So we have 5 elements + no element (though I'm kinda thinking of adding a 6th.... maybe..). Every Estrial falls under one (and only one) of these categories, though their power levels can vary (so like some fire Estrials can only do tiny poofs of flames and others can have like whole fire tornados going on)

Fire, water, air, earth, and plant

They all overlap with others a little too

-Fire Estrials can bend/control/whatever you want to call it magma, lava, fire, and lightning. They can also heat things up, which does mean they can heat other elements enough to somewhat control those (so like heating metal until it's molten and being able to shape it, or heating water enough that it turns into steam. Though steam is a lot harder for fire Estrials to control) though they lose that ability once the element cools off again

-Water Estrials can bend things like water, ice, some gasses (if the gas has a liquid state at a reasonable temperature. So like not things that require to have subzero temps to be liquids like oxygen), and any other liquids (not including molten things if you count those as liquid).

-Air Estrials can control all gasses (unless they need to be superheated to be a gas) and air. They can also definitely move things with air, so like sandstorms and using lots of wind to lift and move big objects. They can even control the weather a bit because of this (though water Estrials also kinda can. They can make it rain at least) by blowing storms around (including hurricanes and tornados, though they can also cause them too)

-Earth Estrials can control anything that's made of some sort of metal or mineral. So like glass (even if it's not molten, they can still change its shape, though they can also control molten glass) any rock, and all kinds of dirt (including compost in case you were wondering. So like if its considered dirt they can control it)

-Plant Estrials can control all plants. And can move things using plants. And can grow plants. Idk what you want from me the name is kinda self explanatory.. they can also grow plants in their fur (or hair if you have a catboy(?) Estrial) (again I don't really know what else to call them..) this does include stuff like coral, mold, and fungus btw so go wild with your biohazard mold guy (omg Ethan Winters ??? Somebody call crumb immediately) (that is a joke do not call crumb cuptoast just because I referenced Ethan Winters..) (though crumb if you somehow see this hiiii you can make an Ethan Winters Estrial, that would be so sick actually)

Bertholdt seems like he'd love to spend his birthday outside in the fresh air with a nice cup of tea, some books, and a bunch of pretty flowers to look at with you. Or curled up by the fire under a big blanket. Something very cozy.

Ooooh I can totally see this Nonnie. Bertie doesn't like to make a big spectacle of his birthday. He's used to it just being quality time spent with his parents and maybe a few close friends like Reiner.

And that's a tradition you'd naturally get folded into.

Imagine being nestled all snug against Bertie in one of those large hammocks for two. You've both brought books you wanted to read and that happens for a good bit before you notice Bertl's book laying on his chest while his eyes are staring up at the sky beyond the shade of the large oak tree shielding you from the afternoon sun.

And I know it's cliche as hell, but it's my imagine I'll thin what I want. But it remains a comfortable silence as you close your book and tilt your head against his shoulder so you can better angle your gaze in the same direction. After some long, peaceful moments of quiet contemplation Bertholdt's deep voice softly parts the silence. "That cloud looks like a hippopotamus face."

It's such a wild thought that you don't even manage to look for the apparent hippopotamus face in the sky before snorting out a laugh, "What?"

Casually he repeats his assertion, "That cloud looks like a hippopotamus face." The words haven't changed but there's an unmistakable layer of amusement enriching his tone.

Unhelpfully, Bertholdt doesn't even raise his arm to point out this clump of fluffy cumulus supposedly impersonating a plumpfaced pachyderm. Instead, when you lift your eyes back to the sky, your peripheral vision catches Bertl pointing his chin to where you should be looking. Again. Not helpful. But you suppose you can't blame him for not wanting to disturb the cozy posture you're both situated in.

Your gaze flits across the sky, searching for the right lump of clouds. But nowhere in the cerulean expanse do you find a hippo face. "Honey. I see something that looks like someone tossing pizza dough in the air but no hippo."

"You see, what?" Now it's his turn for an incredulous chuckle.

"You know. Those people that throw the dough in the air and spin it around with their hands to make it flat."

"I understand that. How are you making that out?"

"Because it's right there." You reach an arm up to point his gaze toward the pizza person. Like a helpful individual. "See?"

"Hn." You know that "hn." That's the "hn" he uses to make you think he knows what you're talking about.

"You don't see it?"

"Sorry, Ahuvatì. I don't."

You huff and Bertl turns his head to place a kiss to your forehead. You guess it's a decent consolation for his awful eyesight and imagination. "Okay. Well where's your hippo face then?"

The petulance laced in your exasperated question sparks another deep chuckle from Bertholdt. He lifts his arm to point toward a mass of clouds with two whispy tendrils on top and bottom. "It was there. Those little whips at the top were the ears and then there were some small gaps bellow that looked like nostrils on its snout."

"Hmph. A likely story."

Bertholdt links his fingers with yours of the arms squished between you both. He gives three quick squeezes and keeps your hand in his.

"Why would I make it up? And what about your pizza person cloud, hmm?" The hammock is rocking a bit now with the way his shoulders shake from his laughter.

Your head tilts back to meet his gaze, returning the three quick squeezes. Small thin lines crinkle the outer corners of his eyes as he grins at you. It's hard not to be drawn into the deep verdant pools of his eyes when he's smiling like this. It's not an uncommon expression to see, but it still makes your heart race when he focuses that joy and adoration directly on you.

"Uh, what?"

Your dazed response makes Bertl's cheeks flush. The thought that he can somehow distract your thoughts and make your mind, all foggy, as you like to say, will never make sense to him. He leans in and presses a sweet peck to the tip of your nose.

"Nothing, Ahuvatì." His free hand reaches over to cup your face, thumb brushing over the crest of your cheek. "How about we make pizza for dinner tonight?"

"Hmm..okay. Sounds good to me." Your eyes close and your head tilts into his palm.

Bertholdt leans in to give you a proper sweet kiss on the lips, returning an affirmative hum. "Great."

Pulling his hand from your cheek Bertl picks up his book from his chest to begin reading again. You move to do the same with your discarded book, both of you keeping the hands between your bodies linked together.

A few minutes pass in comfortable silence as you both dive back into your books. Then, a sentence on your page triggers your memory. "Hey wait a second! Just cause you couldn't see it doesn't mean it wasn't there."

You've turned your head too look at Bertholdt but he keep his eye on his book though a big smile spreads his lips. "Mmhm you're completely right about that, Ahuvatì."

His hand squeezes yours in a set of three and you return the gesture as you turn attention back your book. "Love you too, Bertie."

Aside from the obvious answer ((cough cough anything in regards to my OT3 cough cough)), I think one of the best memories Madison had was when she and her foster mother bonded closer due to the losses they faced in life. It tugged on Madi's heartstrings when her foster mother got more comfortable with being called 'Mama' and basically let their walls down each other. This significant moment in Madison's life was like a second chance of being human and being a daughter to someone.

I'll put the answers under the cut as it contains mentions of physical and psychological abuse, loss of a loved one, and me rambling away/word vomiting my lore AHA 😃🔫

I'd probably pinpoint 2 of the worst memories she's had because I can never decide on just one hehu….Anyways! I'll probably drop the order of these memories in chronological order here.

At the age of 6, Madison lost her twin brother Mason to a bus accident during their school field trip. The two were in separate sections so they rode in different buses, but it was only found out later in the day that Mason's bus never arrived back. Losing a loved one more so your own sibling took a toll on young Madison, but what made it worse was this inkling feeling that… Mason wasn't dead. Of course, everyone who heard Madison's cries of insisting that he was still alive chalked it up as a trauma response and simply shushed her away. This feeling of denial has haunted her in the years to come when she's alone with her thoughts.

The year after this incident, Madison was then sold to the government by her father for examination on her telekinethic powers as a potential means to be bioweapons. Raphael, Madison's father, hid the truth from his wife under the guise of sending Madi to a correction's institute due to her erratic behavior after Mason's "death".

Brutal experiments aside, I think what made this memory so messed up for Madison was how her own sleeping quarters was modeled to look exactly like that of her own bedroom from back home… the position of her bed, the placement of items and keepsakes similar to the ones she had, how Mason's own bedroom mirrored hers because they practically slept in the same room but with a space of their own… It was mental and psychological torture to see a place that Madison once loved become a place that she detested as it only brought memories of her captivity under the government.

hi! not original anon about Mike BUT I do love him. I’ve spoken to Mike a few times for a while and he seems to be a really good dude. I’m not inclined to share exactly what Mike said, but it sounds like he came into Brendon’s life when Brendon really needed it, and helped Brendon sort of see things differently, and he’s happy now. And for various reasons, I don’t think Mike has taken advantage of Brendon at all.

Well then that’s phenomenal! I’m glad! This could also be Mike Viola ghostwriting but I’ll choose to believe it isn’t 😂 look, I really don’t mean any harm whatsoever to Mike, nor do I care that much (only because it’s none of my business). My other answer to why I dislike him was going to be “he doesn’t even play the viola,” but I only gave a more serious answer to assuage anyone’s fears that my distaste was rooted in anything worse than personal preference. He certainly doesn’t kick puppies or hate homeless people or anything to my knowledge. At the end of the day, it’s not something that affects me, and I do support anything that’s ultimately beneficial for everyone involved. I do appreciate you offering your perspective and also for being nice about it 😅

Mmmmmhm never understood this either. I watch shows really rarely, bc I kinda always prioritize uhhh watching documentaries, playing video games, reading books, going for long walks, or doing all my other hobbies before even considering watching some show or movie?? Aaand yeah, my specific priorities don’t help me with socialization at work, like, at all. Maybe except for games, but again, I mostly play indie games and almost never dabble into currently trending mainstream AAA stuff??

And, while in some cases I feel fine not following of some overly mainstream shows, sometimes I regret not watching something when it was at the moment of peak popularity, because most of irl people had long moved on to other stuff by that time I watched something, and there’s noone to discuss my impressions with (expect for my best friend, but we live far away from each other in different cities). At least I can always fulfill my accidental hyperfixations here on tumblr by going through tags :’> but still that doesn’t help with my struggles in irl socialization and that bothers me. Guess I should force self to watch something outside my very niched scope of interests when it gets popular, simply to keep up with others at work. Perhaps.

So. Turn 1. - Psychic blades + AB Psychic blade - Free interaction do unsheath a real weapon to maybe have the AoO triggered.

Turn 2 : - Drop the weapon ( no action or free interaction required if I believe Sage Advice ) so we have both hands free to do the Psychic Blades combo. - Free interaction to pick up the weapon back to trigger the AoO. Repat ad nauseam. I was thinking about it but I can't believe that the only way for Soulknives to effectively use an AoO is to have this behaviour but here we are. That's the only thing I can think of that is RAW friendly. Soulknives have been thought to not use their AoO or to have it to cost their free interaction by having the silliest behaviour on a battlefield. This is hilarious.

Or is it because they thought other rogue would do better (and do better in theory) with a rapier and never dual wields because they don't get TwF bonuses and have a better use of the BA with disengage/hide. Thus, having 1 attack/turn and the AoO to trigger the hopefully 2nd SA. So we stay with 2 chances of triggering the SA.

I don't know. It's still silly they can't AoO. Or Soulknives really were thought to be used at distance, hence the steady aim feature in Tasha. I don't know. Watch me drop / pick up my dagger or my whip and carefully chose where I place myself if I Psychic Blade.

How hilarious would it be if there was a superbat timeline or fic that was just all the kids thinking that Bruce and Clark were dating for years but just lived separately due to work and how stubborn they both were. Cause it's not like Bruce could move in with Clark in his tiny apartment.

But they also know Clark is a man with values and knows he wouldnt just want to be a "trophy" husband so they full on believe for the sake of everything they were already married in private and full on treat them like a couple and the beautiful idiots they are just play along cause they think the kids are joking. They are not.

"B-but Bruce! I already told Steph I was going to go on patrol tonight"

I think the opportunities here are limitless. The shenanigans the bat family would commit and not to mention the artificial cherry on top is superbat.
