You know how Draco gets when he’s ill. It’s not worth the risk to both of you.” “You can’t do this to me.” Pansy is doing it to Harry—the doing is already in progress, which is why he’s crouched in front of the Floo in the workroom part of their offices at Park and Sons Private Eyes.  “It’s not my choice. It’s not my fault. If I was healthy, you know I’d be there with my power skirt-suit on and my sunglasses in place and my red lipstick all ready to go. But I can’t get up. My head is throbbing.” “Take a potion!” “A potion won’t help.” Pansy coughs, a weak, pathetic little sound. It immediately raises Harry’s suspicions. Harry Potter Rec Fest Day 17 - Made Me Cry

Like I said about laughing, I tend to remember the fics that made me cry because I'm usually somewhere where it's embarrassing. Not one, but TWO of the fics below for today's @hprecfest had me getting funny looks at a car dealership. It's the highest compliment I can pay to a fic!

What kind of crazy person writes a 126K fic for Career Fest? Aulophobia, apparently, and they knocked it out of the park. The twists and turns of this fic just keep coming from beginning to end. The background story that's built is s interesting and creative. I'm wary of saying too much for fear of spoiling the fun roller coaster ride, but I definitely cried more than once.

This is the realest Wolfstar raises Harry I've ever read. Remus is living in his grief and trying to be there for Harry. Sirius doesn't show up until almost halfway through and the Wolfstar interactions are so painful. The way they negotiate their trauma, both apart and together, as young f-ed up men trying to do right by an adorable little boy. Ugh, I'm choked up just thinking about it.

Summary:

“Why would I send you away?” Harry frowned down at him.

“W-When the baby’s born,” Draco explained, “please let me stay with you. I won’t be any trouble. I won’t b-be upset when you bond with someone.”

“Draco,” Harry said firmly, causing the younger boy to tense. “Do you really think I would bring home a mate whilst also living with you and our child? Like some sort of harem?”

“No,” Draco whispered, shaking his head, “I’m s-sorry, of course you wouldn’t. I’ll go somewhere else, I p-promise. I’ll never bother you, I –“

“Draco,” Harry repeated, a little louder this time as the younger boy fell silent. “You’re misunderstanding me. I don’t want to bring home a mate because I’d like to mate with you.”

Draco jerked his head up, nearly knocking into Harry’s chin, his eyes were wide and searching.

“If you’ll have me,” Harry smiled, sweeping back the younger boy’s sweaty fringe and pressing a small kiss to his forehead, “I would like to be your alpha even after the baby comes.”

Draco stared at him for a few moments longer before sighing miserably, sagging down in Harry’s arms. It wasn’t exactly the reaction that Harry had been hoping for.

“You’re just being honourable,” Draco muttered. “You’re doing ‘the right thing’ because I’m p-pregnant.”

“No,” Harry huffed, pressing his finger under Draco’s chin and forcing the omega to look up at him again. “When I first found out about the spell and decided to let you keep the baby, that was me trying to do the right thing. Siphoning you my magic and making sure you ate alright for those first couple of months, that was me attempting to be honourable.” Harry paused, “But I can assure you Draco, everything I’ve felt since then has been because I want you, not just our child, but you as well. I would never offer to bite someone out of duty, you’re forgetting who raised me.” Harry grinned at Draco, whose previously shuttered off expression seemed to be opening up to something resembling wary hopefulness.

“However,” Harry said nervously, “you would have to want me too.”

“I do!” Draco exclaimed loudly before blushing and letting out a small whine, burying down into Harry’s arms.

“Good,” Harry replied, his face stretching into a wide grin. Draco was still undressed and Harry brought up his hand to rub gently down the omega’s back, his fingers dipping into the notches of his spine.

Eventually, Draco emerged back up as Harry helped the omega shift into his lap.

“We’d really be bonded?” Draco asked, frowning as he stared at Harry, their noses almost touching.

“Yeah,” Harry replied, “you’d be my omega and I’d be your alpha.”

“Like Mrs. Weasley and her mate!” Draco exclaimed brightly.

“Just like them,” Harry laughed, “You want seven kids then?”

Draco flushed before grinning shyly.

“Good thing we started early in that case,” Harry smiled, cupping the back of Draco’s head and slowly bringing their mouths together. Draco let out a small, contented noise as their lips met, moving against one another. Draco seemed to melt against Harry, his hands pressing against the alpha’s chest as the older man carefully deepened the kiss, not taking any more than Draco was willing to give.

The younger boy let Harry lick along the seam of his mouth, parting his lips enough to delve his tongue inside, hot and searching. Draco’s own tongue pressed against him, sloppy inexperienced movements that set Harry’s heart on fire and made his bones ache with want.

Finally, they drew back, Draco’s body heaving for breath as they leaned against each other. Harry closed his eyes and smiled as the omega’s chest began to vibrate with low, soft purrs.

my favorite part of drarry fics is when ron absolutely loses his mind when he finds out they're dating. like he is so shocked, baffled, flabbergasted, disgusted, speechless. going through all 5 stages of grief while hermione sighs and comforts him, cause she noticed it ages ago and also expected it to inevitably happen.

ron wakes up from a nightmare. hermione groggily asks him what happened. ron, grief-stricken, voice shaky, replies, "just another dream where harry is...", he gulps, "dating draco MALFOY."

hermione huffs and rolls back over. "it's been 3 years ron. they're literally getting married. get over it."

Draco supposed that starting Eighth Year in Hogwarts fucking Harry Potter was a good start. Both of them were in the closet, for a lack of better words, and both of them were having fun with each other, no bonds attached, no uncomfortable talks, no need to tell their friends whatsoever. It was good to both of them, especially when you considered that the Wizarding World was stupidly ignorant and homophobic, and Draco was already suffering enough because he looked like he was gay. It was better just to keep it a secret. But when Draco suddenly finds out he ended up pregnant of Potter’s child, there was nothing he could do except face the world and reveal his secret. Would Potter accept to reveal his, too, for the sake of this new life?

Excerpt:

“Are you going to call me a ponce to my face, Weston? Come on, I'm waiting.” Potter spread his arms, and Weston looked at him as if he didn’t believe it.

“You're going too far to protect this fucker, Potter. I'm sure Malfoy doesn’t even know who the father of this abomination he's carrying is--”

“The abomination, Weston, is my baby. So I would be little bit more careful while speaking about it.” Potter approached the other Gryffindor, holding him by his collar. “You don’t want to end up dead like Voldemort, do you?”

“You wouldn’t do that,” Weston murmured, trying to look brave but clearly frightened.

“Try me,” Potter threatened, pushing him back. Potter turned to all the students who were looking and declared, out loud, “Those of you who have anything against Malfoy because he's gay, you also have something against me. I am the father of the child he carries, so know that if someone lays even a finger on him, you’ll hear from me.” Harry approached Draco now, ignoring everyone around him and hugging him tightly.

Draco hugged him back, feeling like Potter was the one to make him breathe again. He closed his eyes, leaning his head against his shoulder and breathing in his scent. His heart pounded, and he could no longer deny his feelings for Potter. Not after that. Not after Potter revealed his own secret to help Draco.

“Let's get out of here.” Potter said, kissing his hair and pulling him into the Eighth Year’s Common Room. Weasley and Granger didn’t put away their wands, and Draco mentally thanked them for being so loyal to Potter.

When they reached the Common Room, however, it wasn’t Potter who pulled him aside to talk. Weasley and Granger called him into a corner of the room, ignoring the students who might have been there. Potter stood near the doorway, like a watchdog.

“Malfoy,” Weasley started. “Look... I don’t know how you did it, and, frankly, I don’t think I care anymore. But you're making Harry happy. And I know you don’t have… a relationship or anything, but now you're going to be bound to Harry forever, and that means you’re bound to us as well. I admit that you've changed and that... you’re a decent bloke. We'll be here for you as long as you're here for Harry. And we'll be here for...for the baby too, if you need it.”

The whole speech seemed too rehearsed for him, but it felt good to hear it anyway. Granger looked at Weasley with pride in her eyes, and turned to Draco, ready to give her speech as well.

“Count on us. We may not be your best friends, Malfoy, but... We really have learnt to like you. And if someone does to you the same thing Weston was doing... We’ll be here.” And then, unexpectedly, she hugged him. Draco didn’t know what to do right away, but after a few seconds, he touched her shoulder, awkwardly. It seemed enough.

“Thank you,” was all he could say. He knew his hormones would make him cry if he tried to elaborate. Turning to look at Potter, he saw him receiving hugs and a pat on the back from Thomas and Finnigan. Potter looked at him, a smile on his face and Draco felt that everything would be alright.

I adore your art!!! I was wondering what your imagined backstory is for single dad Draco and Scorpius? Was Draco married, or did Scorpius get dropped off by some magical stork? Or perhaps he just came through Draco's floo one day?

Also, how old do you think Draco and Harry are in your art?

This is purely to satisfy my own curiosity! I’m just imagining young single dad Draco doing the most for his little baby, worrying he's not doing enough, but he’s doing so well. 😊

Aw man thank you so much! And thank you for these questions! This was fun to think about.

What I usually imagine is Draco being married but divorcing shortly after and gaining custody (or Draco himself producing Scorp thru magical ways ✨). Determined to focus only on Scorp and raising him alone.

Age-wise i think of them to be in their mid-twenties and have Draco look like a very tired/frazzled parent. But exactly as you mentioned! A worry-wort of a father doing his best with a very energetic child.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Pansy asked at the other side of the bathroom door. “You’ve been sick every morning now.” 

“I must have caught some disease. Harry insisted on flying our brooms during our date yesterday. It’s probably just the flu,” Draco said as he flushed the toilet and opened the door. “Do you think there will be strawberry pie during dinner today? I have been craving strawberries since last night.”

Pansy looked at him, analysing him before her eyes landed on his belly. Draco pushed her away from the sinks so he could rinse his mouth, suddenly uncomfortable. Still, he could see Pansy’s pale face through the mirror. He stopped washing his mouth as she gasped. 

“Draco,” Pansy rushed to the sink, grabbing his shoulders with both hands. “When was your last heat?”
