pinterest showed me some screenshots of posts that gave me the concept for an au where both harry and ron are sorted slytherin & draco is just slightly less rude in the first book. i could go into why i think this makes a lot of sense for ron but i won't. i've affectionately dubbed them the platinum quartet in my head and they will not leave me the fuck alone

Based on this prompt: Draco has received news of a rare magical creature sighting and has been called in to illustrate the animal and it’s natural habitat/den. Only problem is: he can’t find anyone to pet sit his beloved animals and seeks outsider help by hiring a pet sitter through a wizarding company. Enter: Harry James Potter, pet sitter extraordinaire and living his best life hanging out with animals all over Britain, enjoying the vast and interesting towns and houses he finds himself in. Draco, loves his animals so much and asks to have regular contact through letters.

Dear Potter, I am writing to ask for your help again to take care of my pets. Unfortunately for me, they seem to have grown on you and they have been misbehaving with any other pet sitter. I have no idea why they speak fondly of you and find you so charming. Nevertheless, I was pleased to see that they were in good hands last time.

I hope you have a good rest and enough energy since the next seventy-two hours you will be dealing with their curious, mischievous, and overly friendly nature. Until next time, D. M.

Draco’s wand: … yeah sorry it’s canon. They’re soulmates in love.

no, but really I will never ever be over the wand plotline from book 7. Harry straight up took the wand out of Draco’s hand. They were both holding onto it at one point. Draco could’ve shot a spell at him, but he didn’t. He let him have it And we know Draco has good reflexes because he was almost as good a seeker as Harry and when they duel in book 6, he was actually able to hold his own against Harry longer than any other character ever except Snape and even fast enough to block a nonverbal spell from him. Harry got the wand because part of Draco wanted him to have it.

So that’s part of why it works so well for him but the other factor - which makes me even more unhinged with drarry feels - is their incredible compatibility. Even Hermione’s wand - willingly given to him and thus functional - does not work as well for Harry. It works because Hermione wants it to and because she and Harry are compatible and friends and care about each other. But it doesn’t work perfectly because they aren’t soulmates.

The way the wand feels friendly in his hand even though it’s canonically a particularly complex and difficult to master wand!!!! Ahhhhh!!! THE DRARRY OF IT ALL. We see it throughout the books - they just intuitively understand each other. And care about each other either when they shouldn’t. And the wand’s behavior reflects that. They’re soulmates your honor.
