Lowkey, I think one of my favorite little things about Rescue Bots is how we get to learn a little more about Optimus when he shows up. Like, not war stuff or Orion Pax stuff, but just little things about Optimus.

One of his favorite Earth stories is The Little Engine That Could. Does he read in his spare time and if so, how did he find Little Engine?

He tells Heatwave that he has also been learning from humans. What has he learned? The phrase "Nothing much, double dutch." Who the fuck taught him that? My money's on Miko. Jack would not have the audacity to add that to Prime's vernacular.

He has a motherfuckin' rocket powered car carrier capable of hauling four bots. And since Team Prime had four four-wheelers on the team prior to Darkness Rising, you could reasonably assume that he has used it with Cliff, Bee, Bulk, and Ratch

Optimus knows what a pogo stick is. That isn't anything noteworthy, I just think it's funny.

Okay remember that script draft of "The Emerald Forest" where Blake and Yang partnering up has Blake holding Yang at swordpoint that kinda single-handedly ended the 'who tops?' debate among bumbleby?

I like to think that while that didn't actually happen, it's absolutely how Blake and Yang like to THINK it happened. Seeing as these melodramatic gay dorks seem to REALLY want to think them falling in love was somehow fraught with spicy gay drama and that they totally couldn't stand each other at first. When in reality they actually got along great and were making awkward gay flirting noises at each other from basically minute one.

And sadly, the long-suffering Weiss has no way of fact-checking them on THIS particular detail because she wasn't present for it XD

"Oh, jesus," BigB says, stepping back. Pearl is sitting on the edge of the mountain, and she has her mouth stretched wide open, picking at her teeth with an expression of consternation. And sure, this shouldn't bother BigB, probably. He was Ren's soulmate last season; he thought he'd learned just how many teeth can fit in a person. Long, sharp, carnivorous teeth.

It's just. Ren's mouth was sort of shaped like a dog, for all he was a person. Pearl...

Pearl turns to look at BigB and grimaces. "Oh, hey," she says a little weakly. "I didn't see you get back."

"Yeah, I just got some firewood," BigB says. "What on earth?"

Pearl closes her mouth. BigB hadn't noticed she had only been smiling at him with her lips mostly closed before; he notices now when she does it.

"It turns out that important things from previous seasons leave a mark," Pearl says. "I mean, I didn't really know, after Last Life -"

BigB reaches for a spot on his stomach. Pearl pauses.

"Oh," she says.

"I guess I understand where you got the teeth," BigB says, his own voice weak now.

"They hurt coming in again," Pearl says. "I was just trying to figure them out. Now that I'm not running on spite so much."

"Mhm," BigB says. "It does hurt. Coming in again."

Pearl stares at him a moment longer.

"That's a bit more obvious than the teeth," she says, finally.

"You can't see it if I have a shirt on," BigB counters.

"Is it -"

"I mean, it's sort of fitting. You don't know what it was like, though. You don't..."

He trails off.

"I mean. Maybe I do a little," Pearl says finally, and for a moment, she smiles with all of her teeth at once. It's easy to read as a threat, but...

"Okay, yeah, sure," BigB says, sighing and sitting down. "Maybe a little."

"Will you get freaked out if..."

"No, go ahead," BigB says. "Weird kind of scar though, haha. The teeth."

"Little less obvious than yours," Pearl says. "Like the universe wants to make sure no one trusts us again. Ah, well. I didn't need it anyway."

She goes back to cleaning her teeth. BigB watches her for a long while. He wishes he could say differently. He can't. Ah, well.

Sometimes, these things have consequences.

Maybe she would understand.
