This is Indigo Park. Mascot Horror done right with Rambly the Raccoon being the Star of the show that really brings the game to life. Very clearly a passion project from a new Dev. I was joined by Zephyr who is new to horror games and came along for the ride. Chapter 1 is free on steam with Chapter 2 still in development.

For the love and life/Chapter 4

First thing Monday morning, Hiccup went to his boss, Drago Bloodvist, the boss of the bicycle workshop, Bloodvist and Sons. A little nervously, he opened the door to the office of the tall man with the long, black beard and scarred face. Hiccup had a lot of respect for him, because he knew that Drago could crush him with his weight in no time, and he knew that his boss often liked to scream like a madman, which is why he had to word his question carefully. “Mr. Haddock, what do you want? When it comes to a raise, I can't give you one because my company is going to close in a few months. I won't be able to keep you busy soon." Hiccup's jaw dropped, he couldn't believe it. For a long time he looked at his boss, stunned, who looked at him with ice-cold black eyes. “Why are you still standing there? Back to work!”

Hiccup nodded in a daze as he closed the door behind him and went back into the sales room, where Eret was already waiting for him. “And what did the boss say?” Hiccup sighed heavily. "No, no raise." "I'm sorry, my friend. Maybe I can try talking to him again, I'm one of his sons after all." "Thanks, Eret, but you don't have to. But how am I supposed to explain to Astrid that we have to move out and will almost soon be completely broke if I won't have any more work in the next few months. “I also want to bring in enough money for us so that she can work in peace again and I can look after Zephyr at home.” Eret puts an encouraging hand on his shoulder. “You can do it, if you want I can help you out.” Hiccup shook his head. “It's okay, Eret, but you should worry about making ends meet for you, Heather and Ruffnut. Astrid and I will find a solution. We’ve always found one so far.”

Tired and strained, Hiccup opens the door to the apartment that evening, where he is immediately greeted by the smell of homemade Margherita pizza. Astrid came towards him and threw her arms around his neck, behind her little Zephyr gurgled in her children's chair. Before Hiccup could start talking, Astrid pulled him into a deep kiss. He ran his hands down her back until his hands sank into her pockets. "I see you made pizza for us." Astrid nodded. "And this time according to the recipe, so I hope it turned out well." He put his arm around her waist and the two of them went to their daughter, Zephyr, who played with the wooden dragons that Hiccup's father gave to his granddaughter he had made himself. Astrid took the pizza out of the oven while Hiccup greeted his little daughter extensively with kisses. "Hello, my darling. Well, you were a good girl and helped your mother. I hope your pizza is good. Don't worry, after dinner, I'll cuddle with you and mom as much as you want." Astrid smiled as she used a pizza cutter to cut the pizza apart on the dining table, grabbing a small piece from the edge. "I saw that," Hiccup said, grinning. “I just wanted to test whether I wasn’t poisoning you. You know how bad my food was when we were young." "Oh God, don't remind me of your homemade punch and cake that you brought every Christmas, that is, to me and my parents “You came to eat.” Astrid laughed and sat down across from him. Even though the two had been together for five years, Hiccup had the feeling that every day he woke up he would fall in love with Astrid all over again and he knew exactly the same way she felt with the way she always looked at him with her fiery ocean blue eyes . “And have you asked your boss for a raise?” she asked suddenly. Hiccup nodded. "Yes, unfortunately he won't be able to give it to me because he'll have to close his company soon." Astrid's shoulders slumped. "And what do we do now?" "Don't worry, we'll think of something. I won’t let you down, I promise.”

THW Rewrite

More headcannons because I have not been able to stop thinking about this franchise for the past 13 years, and I have over a decade's worth of opinions.

I've already posted some of these ideas but ehh it's fine.

While I enjoyed watching it for the first time, THW was disappointing to me for a variety of reasons. (The music was probably the best out the franchise though, I'll say that) Grimmel didn't reach his full villain potential since the writers used Ruffnut's lack of judgment as his key to success instead of him being a capable strategist. (Also they did my girl so dirty. She may be a dumbass, but she's not an idiot!) I don't like that the dragons left after just 6 years. I don't like that all the riders except for Hiccup and Astrid are just played for laughs instead of shining like they do in RTTE. I don't like whatever the hell Snotlout's obsession with Valka was, and I didn't like Toothless' "romance" with the Light Fury. I hate that even dragons can't escape half-developed romance and a nuclear family as the ultimate character accomplishment.

So here are my edits (looking back, there's quite a bit going on, so it may need to be split into 2 movies or a short TV series)

The time jump happens between movies 2 and 3. (I want a full movie with bearded Hiccup and "Homecoming" does NOT count) 10-15 years have passed, so the riders are about 30-35. Zephyr and Nuffink are either little kids or preteens and are getting to an age where they're starting to train dragons.

Astrid is more rough around the edges like she was in HTTYD 1 and Rob/Dob/RTTE, not just Hiccup's supportive gf/wife. Instead of making her softer, motherhood has made her fiercer because she has more people to protect. Hiccup on the other hand is a doting father and can't say no to the kids if they give him puppy dog eyes: heart melted every time.

Toothless finds his original flock(?)/herd?/murder?/unkindness?/parliament? of Night Furies instead of just one "soulmate". Each can have their own personalities and roles in the group while Toothless is the baby. I think it would be interesting if, like Hiccup, Toothless was quite small compared to his peers - potentially explaining why he was on his own and got separated from the group before meeting Hiccup.

Dagur and Heather are brought into a council meeting as Berserker allies. Hiccup greets them in a way that clarifies things for audience members who haven't watched the show. I suppose Mala would also be in it too. I don't dislike Mala but I hate her and Dagur's relationship. More development needed there.

Gustav should be there too, still very much trying to prove himself as a dragon rider and occasionally messing things up.

In terms of the main plot and villains, I'm not too picky, although I've said before that I'm tired of dragon mind-control being the main villain tool. I'm fine with it if Drago comes back as the villain, but if not, the villain should just be dragon hunters or rival dragon riders who use their dragons for conquering/raiding other settlements.

It can hit pretty much hit the same story beats as before but with better character dynamics.

Make Ruff and Tuff more instrumental to mischief and redirection in a way that helps the plot.

Give Fishlegs more credit for his discoveries and record-keeping about dragons.

Snotlout and Eret are together (or implied to be together if that's the best we can get). Snotlout is also no longer Hiccup's rival - he should be his second in command. They can disagree from time to time, but ultimately, his loyalty is not in question.

Fishlegs and Ruffnut have kids who cause chaos with Zephyr and Nuffink.

It would be cool to include a couple characters from other parts of the world with dragon mythology. I understand that Vikings are white but if we have goddamn flying dragons, there's no reason there can't be visitors from other cultures (who aren't villains).

Ending option 1: The movie can end with the dragons going away, but now they've been with the Berkians for over a decade and it just feels more impactful.

The "there were dragons when I was a boy" line can either be Hiccup talking to his grandson after an even longer time jump, or Nuffink talking to his own kids about Hiccup's adventures.

Ending 2: the Berkians go to The Hidden World with the dragons. Hiccup writes a memoir to leave behind. We hear him reading from it at the beginning and assume that means dragons are going to leave, but it's actually a diversion to make people think dragons are gone so no one tries to look for them.

Ending 3: We accept that HTYYD takes place in a different world so we don't have to explain why dragons don't live among us anymore. The movie ends with Hiccup vowing to make the archipelago safe for all dragons and Nuffink and Zephyr take up the mantle of discovering new dragons. The dragons stay and they all live happily ever after, the end :)

I'm tempted to actually write this as a fanfiction but I already got a lot of writing projects atm. We shall see.

spitlout being born during rtte is insane when you think about it. snotlout grounded for months, vulnerable, having to find other ways to help out. and then a super vulnerable little baby is there. during the war. did snotlout have to take her with on flights? did he do it willingly so his baby girl could feel the wind in her hair and the weightlessness in the skies? breastfeed her on dragonback during a long trip bc hookfang and him were gonna be late to the edge and she needed to eat? did spitlout ever feel the heat of hookfang's flames, the g-forces of a sharp dive, the swerves of hookfang dodging arrows, all while swaddled against her father's chest, because there wasn't time to set her up with a babysitter?

she won't remember this, won't remember being held hostage, won't remember being cradled in another rider's arms while snotlout's too bloody and injured to hold her himself. won't remember the dragons being impressed into drago's army, won't remember the bewilderbeast's call, won't remember meeting stoick or his funeral. won't remember the worst of the war, or the end of it, but she still bore witness to it all as a fragile infant, whether she was safe in a riders' arms or screaming in the grasp of a hunter, soaring through the skies held on dragonback or pressing grubby chubby baby hands against the snout of a crooning hookfang stormfly meatlug barf belch toothless smidvarg.

zephyr and nuffink were both born after their parents got married, after the war. spitlout was born out of wedlock, during the war, years earlier. isn't that kind of insane to think about?

Oh it's absolutely insane, that's why it's the best time for her to be born, especially with Snotlout being kept from flying and all the drama that would ensue because of that

I don't think Spitlout would ever be with them during battle but who knows, maybe the riders get ambushed and they have to quickly maneuver to get her out of danger, also the idea of Snotlout taking her on little scenic trips with Hookfang to get her accustomed to flying early on is quite lovely, maybe Hiccup and Fishlegs work together and craft Snotlout a special flight proof toddler harness that they gift him during the baby shower (cue a montage of them testing out prototypes with dummies that all get horribly destroyed before coming up with the final design)

Also Hookfang would need to control himself a lot more, though judging by Total Nightmare and Crash Course he seens to have strong parental instincts and knows to be gentle with babies (could be a him thing or a general Nightmare thing idk)

Eyes instantly widening, her breath got caught in her throat as her expression became one of dread.

Gone? Hiccup and Astrid were gone?

Danny didn’t even react as her younger sister fell against her, too busy comprehending what she’d just said. For a while she was just staring blanking at the doors ahead of her.

Not even answering the young girls question, Danny immediately picked Zephyr up, holding her head against her shoulder, and ran as fast as she could to Valka’s.

“Valka!” She was shouting, pounding on the door as hard as she could, her knuckles stinging at the sensation. “Valka, open the f***ing door!” Usually, she tried to keep her language to a minimum around the older Viking. But right now she didn’t care too much about being polite.

Once the door was open, Danny immediately started speaking at a mile a minute. “It’s Hiccup, and— and Astrid; Zephyr said they got taken, and I was at the Hall so I didn’t see anything, and—“ Oh, s***. “Isla! She’s still at the hut— Zephyr? You gotta tell me if they took Isla!”

There were no tears coming from Danny, because right now she could not be weak, especially not in front of Zephyr. She also couldn’t risk losing what little control she had knowing that her parents had been taken.

Valka made her way to the door, trying to shake away the grogginess from being awakened so suddenly.

Upon seeing who was there, and in such a state, her expression filled with concern. "What is it? What's happened?"

"What?!"

Zephyr blinked, shaking her head. "N-no, Isla is fine--I can go get her!" She squirmed to get out of Danny's grasp, wanting to be helpful, but Valka laid a gentle hand on both girls shoulders.

"Stay here, I'll get her. Come inside, and we'll form a plan." Ushering them in, she called for Cloudjumper.

"Nuffink is asleep, we don't want to scare him. I'll be right back!"

Returning less than a quarter hour later, Valka came back inside with Isla in her arms.

Sitting herself down so the girl sat in her lap, she said to Zephyr.

"Start from the beginning, tell us exactly what happened."

So she did.

But, having come out of her room as late as she did, she couldn't say more than the sight of her parents being carried off.

Her eyes full of tears, she looked at Danny and Valka. "They're gonna be okay, right? They--they have to be!"

Hiccup and Astrid came to in a damp, dank cell. From the creaking and groaning of the wood around them, and the motion of it, they could tell they were in the holding cell of a ship.

Rubbing the back of his throbbing head, he let out a groan, reaching over to check on his wife. "Astrid? You alright?"

"Ugh...I can't believe we were caught by surprise..." She wore a scowl. "When we get out of here, I'm training harder. The tribe being at peace made me soft."

Looking around, Hiccup searched for a clue as to who took them, pulling himself up to lean his back on the wall behind him. He'd been taken without his prosthetic leg, which was bad in more ways than one.

He'd built a lock pick into it.

Some good it did for him now.

"Where are the kids?" The two exchanged a worried look. Hiccup took a shaky breath. "Nuff was with mom...and the girls..."

The cells beside theirs were empty.

"Let's hope they're safe and back home..." Astrid said, "Because if they aren't...whoever took us will taste death."

Hiccup's voice became grim as he laid his eyes upon an all too familiar symbol. "That won't be a problem."

He knew this symbol.

It had been burned to Eret's chest, the back of Danny's neck...and little Danny's face.

They were on one of Drago's ships.

I'd imagine that Hiccup probably doesn't take him as seriously as he should. He has, like, what? A decade's worth of battle experience? Maybe almost two if we put Hiccup at Viggo's current age? (At least well in his 30s?)

Hiccup would be three times as experienced, he's probably been chief for years at this point, too, since Stoick was considering making him chief at 20 years old.

Meanwhile it's Viggo who lacks the maturity and experience this time, giving Hiccup the vibe that he's about as threatening as a housecat. Can give a good biting and scratching, but far from deadly. Especially compared to a Night Fury, who could actually tear him to shreds.

It would probably infuriate Viggo. He's young, still callous, has big ambitions in the dragon hunting trade, but good luck getting anything big done or gathering the men necessary when there's been a Dragon Master wagging his finger at wrongdoers for almost 20 years. And if Viggo's age is the only change, that would have no affect on him defeating Drago and his warlords and such.

In other words, Hiccup is a known and feared threat for anyone looking to hunt dragons.

Which doesn't mean that Viggo wouldn't get something done. A lack of experience and maturity does not mean he can't be dangerous if he wants to be. But he probably would be underestimated similar to how Hiccup is in canon.

I can't see Viggo develop the same feelings he has for Hiccup in canon, when Viggo has spent decades looking for a worthy game partner and here is this 18 year old brat with his Night Fury for a best friend and a group of Dragon Riders as unhinged as he is.

Instead, this Viggo would probably obsess over Hiccup, but he'd see him as The Prize. Take him down and then see how fast everyone comes to respect him and take his business seriously.

Hiccup would also be an actual dad at this point. Zephyr and Nuffink closer to Viggo in age than him. So if anything, he would try to parent Viggo, who clearly doesn't have a father in his life to tell him to pick his battles more carefully. And why are you hunting dragons at all? I've been on this earth for 30+ years and riding dragons since I was 15, good luck finding anyone still willing to hunt dragon. Also nice try, kid, but you just don't compare to Drago and such. Also be nice to your brother.

Anyway, just my 2 cents based on the switching of their ages.

What do you think the dynamic will be of Hiccup and Viggo switched ages? Hiccup being older than Viggo? I’m trying to get a fic idea and I am not entirely sure how to start when it comes to switching ages in an au.

This ask has left me scratching my head for days, trying to come up with a good answer. To tell you the truth, I’m so used to their dynamic with the canon ages that I’m not sure what a switch would entail. So sorry I don’t have a good answer to this! It’s a very good concept!

From the same developers as Amnesia: a Machine for Pigs, The Chinese Room. A horror game set on an oil rig off the coast of Scotland. Zephyr recommended it and joined for the ride. This was a great experience. Well written characters and a gripping story with amazing visuals.

Pregnancy Troubles - Part 1

A biting pain shot through her abdomen as Astrid was finishing the plates. She bit her lip to keep from making a pained sound. Her hand slid over her large belly; she was now at the beginning of the fifth month. “Astrid, is everything okay with you?” Astrid flinched for a brief moment, but in a matter of seconds found herself in the warm brown-green eyes of her mother Ingrid. “Yes, mother, I’m fine, just a little kick from the baby I think.”Her mother smiled gently and stroked her shoulder as she went back to the table where Valka, Eret, Grobber, Astrid's husband Hiccup, her two children and Astrid's father Magnus were sitting. Eret was just about to tell some of his stories about what it was like to live as a dragon hunter under the control of Drago Bloodfist. Astrid was just about to sit down at the table again when that breakneck pain shot through her abdomen again. She suppressed a gasp and grabbed the kitchen island for support. She caught Hiccup's eye, who seemed to have noticed her hesitation. Concern was reflected in his emerald green eyes again as she sat down next to him. He immediately reached for her hand. "What's wrong?" he whispered. “I…” Astrid was about to start when she was interrupted by Grobber’s loud yawn. “Eret, I think we should then?” His husband nodded and the two of them stood up to leave. Hiccup's mother followed suit. Zephyr and Nuffink, who had just been sitting snuggled up to their grandmother, rushed over to their parents. Hiccup took the tired Nuffink in his arms as they all went to the door to say goodbye and thank you for dinner. However, before Hiccup could walk out the door, he was stopped by his father-in-law, whose eyes were as blue as Astrid's and whose hair was also the same color as hers. He's as tall as Hiccup, but in contrast to his son-in-law, he could be compared to an ox because of his stature. Astrid's mother, on the other hand, was the complete opposite, small and petite with mousey brown hair. “Hiccup, I just wanted to say thank you again. I know I said this on your wedding day, but I couldn't have asked for a better son-in-law to take better care of my daughter." A soft smile danced across Astrid's lips as she watched her father and her husband while holding Zephyr's hand held. Her father had always had a problem with all boys who were interested in Astrid, but he immediately accepted Hiccup - or rather, immediately took him to his heart. "Thanks, Magnus, that means I fell," Hiccup smiled. Magnus patted Hiccup on the shoulder with his strong arms before walking over to Astrid.

There were only a few lights burning in the village as the little family made their way home, accompanied by a warm breeze. "So what did you want to tell me earlier?" Hiccup asked impatiently. Astrid, who had leaned her head on his shoulders, murmured: "I'll tell you when we've put the children to bed." Hiccup nodded and unlocked the front door to their House. After the two had put their children to bed, Hiccup helped his wife force herself into her nightgown. “So, Astrid, tell me,” he urged, his hand running over her bulging stomach. “I had pain in my abdomen,” she confessed to him. His eyes widened in horror and she felt him pull her closer to him. “But I’m okay now, I hope,” she assured him. “Please tell me immediately if you feel the pain again, okay?” he asked. Astrid nodded. "I will," she said, placing a loving kiss on Hiccup's cheek. “Come on now, I want to go to sleep.” A small smile played on his lips as he followed his wife into bed, where they cuddled together and fell asleep. She woke up with a start in the middle of the night, the pain in her abdomen worse than before. It burned like someone was plunging a cold knife into her warm flesh. The hair on her neck stood on, end followed by cold beads of sweat running down her temple. She gasped in agony, blackness filling the edges of her eyes. She had to wake Hiccup up. Immediately. “Hiccup, please wake up!” She barely had to wait a minute before her husband sat up in bed. He lit a candle. He stroked her arm. “Are you in pain again?” She nodded. "Good, I'll get your mother immediately." With these words he sprinted out of the room. Astrid struggled to get herself to the edge of the bed, trying to control her breathing and prevent herself from sinking into the darkness. “It’s all good, my little one, we can do it,” she whispered to her stomach. “We can do it. You can do it.” “Mommy?” Astrid spun around in shock, Zephyr and Nuffink were standing at the door. Hiccup probably accidentally woke them up when he stormed out of the house.

"Of course I did. They wouldn't let me get a dog, and I wanted to get a pet."

If only his teammates knew he had a one year old, maybe they would have let him get the dog he had wanted.

"What do think Zeph's gonna think?" Trevor watched the lizard sitting on his shoulder watching him. Bean shrugged. "I'm gonna show him"

"Little dude look!" He proudly showed the creature off. Zeph was mesmerized with the lizard on his father. "It's name is Drago"

"da da" Zeph happily cooed.

Trevor instructed the toddler how to pet the bearded dragon gently with his finger. Zephyr giggled feeling the smooth scaly skin.

"Do you want to hold him?"

"Trev he's too young"

"Bean it'll be fine, I'll just put it on him. He won't move or anything. I promise."

Boy was Trevor wrong. Zephyr enjoyed Drago being on him for a minute and then Drago moved. The little boy screamed and that was the end of the lizard for Zeph.
