20240403: the History of LEGO Castle day 094. 6007 Bat Lord (1997, 16 pieces, 10 different parts) DRAGONS!!! The Bat Lord is a small set consisting of a black dragon with trans neon orange wings spouting trans neon orange flames and a Bat Lord minifigure. The one minifigure in this set has a black helmet with bat wings on either side, a yellow minifigure head with an inverted "V" hairline, pointed eyebrows and mustache, a light gray cloth cape with bottom fringes and a black bat with red accents, black arms with a printed red torso with a yellow and black collar, five vertical black lines with rows of yellow dots, a silver belt, and dark gray legs with a black belt. The black dragon, which is built from a body, two arms, a tail, a top head, two trans neon orange wings, and a trans neon orange flame, was first introduced in this set and the body appears in three other sets, 4818 Dragon Rider, 6047 / 6099 Traitor Transport and Traitor Transport With Cave, and 6097 Night Lord's Castle. This is also the first use of the trans neon orange wings, though those appear in seventeen more sets from 1997-2005. This set also introduces the light gray cloth cape with the black bat design on the back. The main focus of this set is the brand new black dragon! This is the only set I purchased when it originally came out since I stopped buying LEGO in 1993 when all the castle sets had minifigures with facial hair. I actually clearly remember buying this set because the black dragon is absolutely fantastic and made me so happy :) New in the box from 1997, this set cost $4.50 and it's been worth every penny, as this is also the one LEGO set I brought with me to undergrad and has stayed with me for the past 25 years. Ten years ago I gave myself the challenge of watching 52 films in 52 weeks. I called it, "If you want to direct, watch things." My goal was to learn what I liked, why, and to encourage myself to write.

I exceeded my objective and ended my year with 150 films. I learned a little more about myself and what I could accomplish.

Over the years, I have lost motivation for my personal wellbeing. I've been overworked, stressed, depressed, unable to focus - but I'm feeling better now.

So, now I want to do it again. I want to push myself, challenge myself... because I can, because I'm up to it.

Movie Diary 2023

Now that the new year is in full swing I finally have the time to go over my personal stats :D I've watched 145 movies this year (excluding rewatches) which is just 4 movies shy of my high of 149 movies from 2017 but I didn't even try that hard lol

Last episode, Goku went to hell to recruit Frieza for his team for the Tournament of Power, and Frieza agreed.  Before he goes to pick him up, Goku stops off for a meal, and tells the others that he agreed to wish Frieza back to life after the tournament.  Vegeta and Krillin are understandably outraged to hear this, but Goku assures them that it’ll be fine.

He basically assures Krillin that he or Vegeta will take Frieza down if he tries any shit.  I like this, because it’s the testosterone-fueled rebuttal to Vegeta’s earlier suggestion that they just put a jobber in their tenth slot and win the Tournament with only nine fighters.  At this point, I’d half expect Vegeta to break Krillin’s arm and then recruit Cell to join the team, just to raise the stakes. 

Now, this Frieza business hasn’t gone unnoticed.  Universe 4���s Quitela has sent spies to the other universes to try to scout the competition, and one of them learned about the plan to bring back a dead villain.  This gives Quitela an idea, so he contacts his fellow Destroyer God in Universe 9, Sidra, and shares his intel. 

Quitela suggests that since Frieza was such a rat bastard in life, then if he were to be assassinated, it would be very difficult to track down the culprit, since he has so many enemies.  So this is an opportunity to kill a key member of Universe 7′s team, which will cost U7 the tournament, and boost the chances for both of their own universes. 

Meanwhile, Master Roshi practices his paralysis torture beam thing on Yajirobe.  This was the same move he used on Goku at the 21st Budokai, and he thinks it could serve him well in the Tournament of Power. 

Krillin and 18 drop off Goten and Trunks to watch 17′s park while they go to the tournament, and Marron wants to tag along, so 18′s like “cool, whatever”.

Some poachers observe this changing of the guard from their submarine, but one of them is wary, since 17′s relief were flying around the island earlier.  This feels like it was meant to set up an episode where Goten and Trunks fought some poachers, but I’m pretty sure that never came to pass.

Anyway, 17 shows up to join the others, and it looks like Piccolo has beef with the guy, but then he shakes his hand and tells him how pleased he is to be teaming up with the guy.  This is supposed to be a tense moment, but come on.  They’re putting Frieza on this team.  17 is just not that big a deal.

So Goku goes to pick up Frieza and they do the thing where they punch each other and say “my hand slipped”.  Get a room, you two.

Then a horde of assassins show up.  It’s almost time for the Tournament though, so Goku wants to hurry up and get going, but Frieza insists on fighting it out.  But if they’re in a hurry, then...

... he’ll settle this as Golden Frieza.

Golden Tears ———— Good Evening Folks :D After working on my paladin dragon, I needed a little tiny break. My hands and mind were craving for doing traditional art. Well I thought and thought and didn’t know any good art supplies. Then I went to our big storeroom and picked an older #scrawlrbox. It was Nr. 094 and It was a good change. I must say, I really like the supplies and the prompt of the #scrawlerchallenge : Midas Touch Anyway now to the artwork: I had this idea in mind for a long time. I wanted to do an emotional piece with a dragon. Especially the golden tears and accent gives them a really dreamy and yet sad and melancholic. Overall I really like the contrast and the vibe.

Just like in the beginning of this episode Unazuki took Usagi's embarrassment and hesitation as a different answer, I think Usagi is misunderstanding Mamoru's reaction here.

He looks so flustered not because he doesn't remember their first kiss, but because he actually does.

And it is not the same first kiss that Usagi remembers. Their first kiss happened in episode 22 when Usagi accidentally drank some alcohol at the ball and was asleep at the balcony, so she doesn't remember it happening.

So yeah, Mamoru does remember their first kiss but he is not going to admit it.
