i really like the headcanon that aventurine texts like a boomer because he doesn't spend time with teenagers and mostly uses tech for work purposes and dr ratio has picked up some slang from his students

a bunch of art i’m like mostly sure i haven’t shown before, and some thoughts on it under the cut vvv

recently i’ve been drawing both less (in general) and less (for any audience), and it’s given me a little bit of perspective; i’ve been posting my art online since i was ~10! and i’ve very carefully maintained all throughout my boundary between ‘art i draw for me’ and ‘art i post’, because i knew intellectually that All my art being seen by tens of thousands of people on twitter when i was 13 or so would lead to. complications.

—but i’m not sure i ever really though about the why, and it’s kinda hitting me now that it lead to me thinking most of my art just had too much of me in it to show to anybody? all the internet artists i’ve ever looked up to curate what they post too, of course, and i think that lodged itself in my brain as ‘there is something fundamentally messier about you, your creative progress, everything’ somewhere along the way (because i saw some of what other people drew and All of what i drew, it only made sense).

anyways, in the service of transparency, here is some art i drew (sometime in the past few years i’ve had this blog) for myself, or got frustrated with, or deemed too messy to show to people— because there are other artists following me, and maybe it can give you perspective too. with the acknowledgment that this doesnt even scratch the surface, and that i’ve drawn uglier things that you can imagine, not on purpose, and gotten incredibly frustrated with it all, just like i’m sure you all do

(im also posting these because i’ve gotten invested in other things and it feels like a little bit of a waste to not share the things i liked about being here— i’m honestly not sure if i’ll post art on this blog again? i’ve really enjoyed just scribbling and showing it to my dearest friends, a lot more than i think i’ve ever enjoyed posting to a wider but unknown audience)

yk as your local golden ratio enjoyer, i thought most of my brainrot from this event would be from the re-use of the daring wager consumable, or the fact that there's two decorations for ratio and aventurine

but i think i wanna bring something else to light

this ducky. it showed up next to dr ratio's notebook, so obviously there's a double confirmation that the ducky is related to him too.

we know that dr ratio loves baths because they clear his mind of clutter and filth...but does that cleaning and peace of mind make it all too quiet for him? does the quiet remind him of how quiet his surroundings are? does the crushing pain of not fitting in eat at him? does the reminder that no one truly understands him hurt that bad? does he regret the distance between him and the world?

I wanna punch these ppl

I find it funny that so many of those ninjago nostalgia accounts on instagram will say that season 2 of the og show is peak and they’ll only acknowledge either the last episode or the episodes on the Dark Island. And yet they’ll NEVER mention the filler episodes. Like mf don’t say the whole season is peak and not show half of. Like they need to understand the difference between a ‘peak episode’ and a ‘peak season’.

Also ppl (nostalgia fans) only say it’s peak BECAUSE of the finale episode. Like yeah it’s iconic but we’ve had better endings. (Like seabound for example is a better ending for some ppl it’s just just based on opinion) But if u say that u’ll get jumped because only really old 2013 ninjago can have good endings.

It’s honestly really sad at how much backlash DR gets on instagram BECAUSE of these nostalgia accounts. Like they’ll hate on anything from the writing, the world, the characters. I’ve seen ppl complain about complaining about Lloyd having an anxiety disorder (with their fans are cheering them on from the sidelines). Ppl saying Lord Ras is a mid villain because he’s not Chen or some other old villain. There’s literally no other reason it’s just ‘he’s not Chen so he’s mid’. Like wtf is that kind of point?

Whenever I dare to actually read the comments I’ll find a rare ‘I like dragons rising’ comment u see nothing but backlash from other ppl. I get ppl are subjective to their own opinion but holy shit dude someone saying the like dragons rising doesn’t mean they hate the og show. Ppl over there act like ur committing a fucking crime if u say u enjoy dragons rising.
