Iruma Suzuki, (age 14), has grown up in the netherworld, where in humans are a delicacy. For the past several months, he has been terrified that his new human friends would think of him as a monster.

Hear me out. In the same way that in canon no one notices Iruma’s round ears and flat teeth, in this AU his teeth and ears are the part of his human disguise that’s the most likely to falter and no one notices. (the horns are the second most likely piece and people do notice that though, but this far he’s brushed it off on them being an accessory, so there’s a rumor going around that he’s secretly goth/alternative. This rumor is not helped by his evil cycle.)

I wanna do something with Kirio in this AU. My vague idea is that wants to summon demons and use them as a tool to bring mass suffering and despair. I can’t decide if he should summon Iruma as a familiar for the firework arch, and then Iruma finds a way to loop hole out of his contract to cause despair (and subsequently change his sigil) or if when he finds our Iruma is a demon, should get obsessive about finding a way to make Iruma his familiar so as to make him submit to his will. Or maybe a secret third option that I haven’t thought of yet.

Amari can be a part of a family that has long standing magical ties, which is what leads her to figuring out Iruma of her own devices so quick.

It’s kind of an interesting dynamic reversal because the canon story has set it up so that demons are the ones in positions of power over humans (‘mostly physically). So Iruma wouldn’t be as worried about his personal safety in this AU (and might even have to get over some biases about humans not being primitive or weak as he naively thought). However I feel Balam would still be worried about Iruma’s safety in the human world since humans can summon demons as familiars without the demons consent, binding them into whatever contracts they want. Which given that Iruma grew up thinking of humans the same way we think of mothman, I don’t think he’d realize they have that leverage over him.

Iruma spends his first few months in the human world TERRIFIED that he’s going to go feral and eat a human on accident. Once he works past that his mental energy is spend trying to keep his identity under wraps from the general public.

He confesses his secret to Az and Clara much sooner in this AU, partly because I think it’s funny, and partly because in a swap AU he as a lot less to fear about them knowing.

I also want you to imagine, Iruma has an honest to god evil cycle that he’s familiar with and can kinda feel coming on, so without a human equivalent to pass his behavior off on, he resigns to just “‘stay home stick” for a few days. He calls Az and Clara to let them know so they won’t worry and of course “‘DO NOT COME OVER, thx ily”. Low and behold they kick down the door masks up and Benadryl out, and get a face full of evil!Iruma.

(it would be funny if evil Iruma was more confident in their ability to keep his identity a secret than he usually is, and just straight up told them everything like-

“irumakins what’s got you acting so fluffle truffle strange?”

“‘I’m actually a demon and I’m in my evil cycle. It happens as a result of stress, and moving here from the netherworld has been reasonably stressful.”
