All of those self-help books that told the world to just think positive didn't account for the fact that you can't control the thoughts that arrive in your mind. The part you can control is what you do once they appear.
why has nobody told me this before?, dr. julie smith

Don't You Forget About Me - Maureen Robinson/Smith
A/N: Fic 13/30 for my 5x5 @julybreakbingo card and Alts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Just forget about me...”    “I don’t want to forget.”    Maureen’s voice drops even as she moves closer to the grate of the jail door.    “I’ll be waiting, Smith.... come home to me.”    She’s not lying, Smith can see that from the glittering torment in Maureen’s soft eyes, her own wanting to dampen in response.     “I will. I will.”    Her voice drops as she stands, moving closer to the grate.    “Come visit... sometime, keep me sane?”    “I will.”    Maureen promises.    “You behave, get out of here safe. Come home.”    “Home...”    Smith sounds wistful before she toughens herself up a little.    “I will, I’ll come to you... soon.”    She has three weeks left to serve. Even if she wants to yell and scream, she’ll wait. She can wait... for Maureen.

my 75 soft? hard? medium? challenge.
start date: july 1st, 2024 end date: september 14th, 2024
i'm doing this challenge to primarily change my lifestyle and become the best version of myself in a sustainable manner. for that, I decided to combine the two challenges and even add a few new goals.
the 75 soft challenge is not too challenging for me, but the 75 hard one might be a little bit too challenging for me right now to do consistently. also, I wanted to add a few other rules to integrate the challenge more into becoming the best version of myself.
🌷 rules: you can read the original rules here
🌷 my rules:
♡ eat well & no drinking alcohol. eating a balanced diet, with no restrictions or limits because i struggled with eds in the past and i dont want to slip back that. ♡ drink 3,5 liters per day. the majority will be water, i'll be also consuming teas for their health benefits. ♡ two 45 minutes workouts per day, one must be outside. but i can take a rest day on the heaviest day of my period. ♡ 10 pages of nonfiction reading per day. since the start of 2024 i've been reading daily: - 365 days with self-discipline by martin meadows - the daily stoic by ryan holiday in addition to that, the following books are on my tbr: - the power of now by eckhart tolle - mindset: the new psychology of success by carol s. dweck (276 pages) - breaking the habit of being yourself by dr. joe dispenza (329 pages) - why has nobody told me this before? by julie smith (368 pages) - burnout: the secret to unlocking the stress cycle by emily nagosaki (227 pages) - atomic habits by james clear (319 pages) ♡ take a progress picture everyday. - which i won't be posting online! ♡ spend atleast 30 mins per day on a hobby. - i want to restart studying korean and start learning how to code. ♡ no procrastination. - that is probably my biggest flaw. i procrastinate way to much and even put myself in awful situations that could have been easily avoided. ♡ if i fail one habit, i have to restart the challenge!
🌷 progress:
🌸🌸🌸🌸🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 | legend: 🌱 - to do | 🌸 - completed

How to fight a negative thought
As always, I will love to hear your thoughts! and if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them! If you liked it, leave a comment or reblog (that is always appreciated!). if you are intrested in more method check the masterlist!
(Before we start, I want to actually suggest a book by Dr. . Julie Smith, "Why has nobody told me this before?" It is filled with tools that we can use to fight our mind when we know it is not acting right.)
Im going straight to the point here: negative thoughts can be frustrating. When it comes to manifestation, there is no difference, so with this, I am going to teach you how to deal with negative thoughts and reprogram your brain.
Tumblr media
The negative thoughts are normal in every person there, for in every community, it is normal to experience a bad thought, and sometimes a bad thought can ruin our lives and slow us down for a whole day. In this post, I'm going to give you a list of things that can help you realize a bad state of mind. When we want to start to realize these little things, we can catch them with way more ease than our negative thoughts.
Let's start with baby steps:
Our mood is influenced by our thoughts, and vice versa.
Give your negative thoughts logic. If you can't find logic, then why worry? ex: "Everybody hates me." In the logic, it will be "I am my own person, and the price to pay is that I am not going to be loved by everyone, and I can literally name who loves me."
Write about it, talk about it, and let your negative thoughts go. Don't let them stay inside of you because they will stagnate and produce mold like rotten fruit.
Don't search for temporary distractions for a long-term problem; feel it, cry if you need to, and have knowledge of what made you feel bad.
The more you realize your negative thoughts and what triggers them, the easier it will be to replace them and change the story.
Now some hard truths:
Our emotions lie to us; our emotions aren't 100% truth.
We choose to be happy or sad, and what we do about it is our fault.
You are your own brain; you can control your thoughts.
Our first reaction to a negative thought is fear, because we are scared that it might be the truth.
Tumblr media
What do I have to do with all this information?
Witness your negative thoughts, own them, and stop them by making positive remarks.
Be patient with yourself; you are learning, you are healing, you are living your life, and you are allowed to make mistakes.
Witness your positive thoughts, own them, and give yourself the credit that you need.
All your manifestations are coming your way, and you are going to live the best life ever. Allow yourself to be and exist.

On the 4th July 2024 the UK will hold a General Election
What does this mean?
On the 4th July 2024, the UK will go to the polls. Each constituency (an electoral area) will get to chose between a number of local candidates (MPs), each representing one of the political parties, such as the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, etc.
When all the ballots have been counted, the person with the most will be elected, meaning that person's party will hold that constituency. Once every constituency winner is announced (or if there's a landslide for a party which the others cannot hope to beat) that political party wins the general election, and the person in charge of that party becomes Prime Minster.
In the last General Election, the turnout was 67.3% across the UK.
Who gets to vote?
To vote in the General Election, you must be one of the following (information taken directly from here):
be registered to vote
be 18 or over on the day of the election (‘polling day’)
be a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen
be resident at an address in the UK or living abroad and registered as an overseas voter
not be legally excluded from voting
Registering to Vote
You can register to vote here.
You can check if you're registered by going here.
According to the website, while registering, "You’ll be asked for your National Insurance number (but you can still register if you do not have one). After you’ve registered, your name and address will appear on the electoral register."
There is also an option to register to vote anonymously "if you're concerned about your name and address appearing on the electoral register for safety reasons." The link to that page is here.
You can register to vote by post by going here and printing out the forms.
If you would like a step-by-step guide to registering to vote, here is a page that has a pdf doing just that. It is also available in Welsh.
Photo ID
We now need to show a photo ID when turning up to the polls.
Here is a list of valid forms of photo ID.
Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get a valid ID, otherwise you will be turned away from the polling station.
If you vote by proxy, you need to "take your own ID when you go to vote on someone else’s behalf. You do not need to take theirs."
According to the website, "The name on your ID must match your name on the electoral register. If it does not, you’ll need to:
register to vote again with your new details
take a document with you to vote that proves you’ve changed your name (for example, a marriage certificate)
Small differences do not matter. For example, if your ID says ‘Jim Smith’ instead of ‘James Smith’.
If you do not have a type of photo ID that allows you to vote, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate."
You need to apply to vote by post
You can apply here.
You need to be registered before applying.
To apply you need:
"The address where you are registered to vote
Your National Insurance number or other identity documents, e.g. a passport
the specific date of the election or referendum you want to make a postal vote, if you only want a one-off postal vote
You’ll also need to upload a photo of your handwritten signature in black ink on plain white paper.
If you cannot provide a signature or one that always looks the same, you may be able to apply for a postal vote signature waiver within the service.
You might be asked for extra documents to identify you."
The linked page has an option for downloading an application form to send in by post.
Resources
BBC breakdown of General Elections
BBC boundary changes to constituencies
An overview of the political parties
BBC News page for current politics
How many MPs are in which parties
General info around voting, elections, boundary changes, etc.
TL;DR
On the 4th July 2024 the UK votes for the next political party in charge.
You need to register to vote.
You need to take a photo ID with you.
You need to apply to vote by post.
The rest of the world is welcome to share this! Also feel free to add extra resources and information!

1918 04 Remember me - Russell Smith
Remember Me? depicts a hypothetical but plausible encounter between and Bristol F2.b of 48th Squadron, RAF and a Fokker Dr.1 triplane piloted by Leutnant d. R. Friedrich "Fritz" Kempf of Jasta 2 (Boelcke). The scene depicts Kempf zooming up and past the Bristol, catching the crew by surprise. The client was fairly specific about the attitudes and positions of the aircraft, but he left the overall composition and the choice of Bristol markings up to me.The Bristol Fighter was a maneuverable, heavily armed two-seater biplane, and one of the most successful fighters of the war. It got off to a poor start during "Bloody April" when it was introduced to the Western Front by the inexperienced pilots. Believing that the aircraft was structurally weak, pilots avoided violent maneuvers during combat. It was soon realized, however, that the Bristol fighter was actually a very sturdy aircraft that could be maneuvered as if it were a single seat fighter with rear protection. Bristol crews met with great success by using their aircraft in that capacity. By the end of the war over 240 pilots and gunners achieved ace status in the type. My choice of markings for this particular Bristol was personal. Growing up in SC I often attended the Shawfest airshow at Shaw Air Force Base located in Sumter. In my 20’s, as a budding aviation artist, I donated a painting to the 20th Fighter Wing which was based at Shaw AFB at the time. For those reasons I have had long felt a familiar connection to Shaw AFB. A few years back, though that connection became very personal. While doing some research on Ancestry I found that I had a great great grandfather who was a Shaw and who was born in Sumter, SC. I knew immediately there had to be a connection to Shaw AFB. After further research I came to find that Shaw AFB was named after 1st Lt. Ervin David “Molly” Shaw, the first Sumterite killed in the WWI & the only Sumter Aviator to die in combat. Shaw served with the 48th Squadron, RAF, British Expeditionary Force. In combat, he is credited with shooting down two enemy aircraft. On July 9, 1918, well behind enemy lines on a scouting mission, he and his British observer were greatly outnumbered by enemy scout planes and they perished in battle. They were flying Bristol F2b B-1113 at the time. As it turns out, 1st Lt. Ervin David Shaw, after whom Shaw AFB is named, was my great-grandmother’s cousin!Frederich "Fritz" Kempf was born in May 1894 in Freiburg in the town of Breisgau in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg. At age 19, he joined infantry in October 1913 and by August of the following year was promoted to Unteroffizier . After being wounded in battle and a lengthy hospital stay he applied for a transfer to the Luftstreitkraefte. Once accepted he arrived at FEA 3 in Gotha on May 6, 1915. He was then sent back to Freiburg to complete training and then on to FEA 9 at Darmstadt at the end of November 1915. In March 1917, after serving with various aviation units, he received the Iron Cross 1st Class and joined Jasta 2 "Boelcke". He scored his first victory on 29 April - a BE2c near Le Pave. His second was a Sopwith Pup on 5 June at Masnieres, then the 3rd was a Camel on 20 Oct. at Gravenstafel. He was sent to Jasta-Schule I as an instructor , returning to Jasta Boelcke in January 1918. On 8 May he scored his fourth victory, a Camel west of Steenwerke. He returned to Jasta-Schule I in August 1918 where he served until the end of the war. Although he only had 4 victories to his credit at war’s end, Kempf was none the less a respected and valued member of Jasta Boelcke. He died in August 1966.Of the aircraft that Fritz Kempf flew during his wartime career, perhaps the most recognizable were a pair of Fokker Dr.1 triplanes which carried similar

List of Every Brandon Rogers Characters Ever
Tumblr media
I don’t know why I did this. It took 4 hours. I haven’t seen ever Brandon Rogers video (shocking, I know) so some are missing. I purposely didn’t add any parody characters (the Kardashians, Annabell, M3GAN etc), but if you notice any BRCU characters missing, please comment so I can add them.
And obviously the characters not credited are played by Brandon Rogers.
David July is credited as David Burton on this list. I’m not sure when they changed their name, as they are credited as both on Brandon’s videos.
I can’t remember who Debbie and Doyle are but I must of put them on this list for a reason

BTW, Bazil (who plays Cheshire Cat) is a trans man who goes by he/him. Just letting people know because people are misgendering him and I assume it’s because they don’t know his pronouns.

Thoughts are not facts. They are a mix of opinions, judgements, stories, memories, theories, interpretations, and predictions about the future. They are ideas offered up by your brain about the ways we could make sense of the world.

I Found Love Where It Wasn't Supposed To Be - Dr Zoe Smith/Maureen Robinson
A/N: Fic 14/30 for my Summer 5x5 @julybreakbingo card with Alts.
Tumblr media
It happens almost by accident. The table is full, the kids and Maureen have taken all the available seats, the Robot hovering behind Will. It takes a few moments of Smith working out what to do before she slips into Maureen’s lap, curling an arm around the back of the seat to keep herself settled, even as she listens to the children’s banter.     Maureen, she thought, wouldn’t much care. She was, however, wrong. Maureen cared greatly, fighting herself to hide her reaction from her children, glad when they finally broke apart to get back to the days activities, her voice low when Smith makes to get up, her grip tight on the other woman.    “You... are a menace Zoe Smith.”    “Hm?”    “Oh please, don’t act innocent, you have to know you drive me insane...”    It’s silent as they stare at each other, Smith standing to readjust herself and settle back into Maureen’s lap so they are face to face, soft fingers brushing copper hair from bright eyes.     “I had no idea, Darling.”    The words are almost a purr and Smith smiles as she leans to kiss Maureen softly.    “Let me make it up to you?”

Mark Goddard (born Charles Harvey Goddard; July 24, 1936 – October 10, 2023) Film and television actor who starred in a number of television programs. He is probably best known for portraying Major Don West in the CBS series Lost in Space (1965–1968). He also played Detective Sgt. Chris Ballard, in The Detectives, starring Robert Taylor.
In 1959, after just three weeks in Hollywood, he landed a role in the CBS Four Star Television series Johnny Ringo, having played the character of Cully, the deputy to Don Durant's character of Ringo. At this time, he changed his name to Mark Goddard at the suggestion of his friend and mentor Chuck Connors of The Rifleman. Goddard appeared as Norman Tabor in the 1960 episode "Surprise Party" of the CBS anthology series The DuPont Show with June Allyson. He was cast as Sheldon Hollingsworth in the 1960 episode "To See the Elephant" of the ABC Western series The Rebel, starring Nick Adams. He played Tod Rowland in the 1960 episode "The Mormons" on Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theatre. Goddard also appeared in The Rifleman as Marty Blair in 1962 in the episode “Mark’s Rifle.”
The Detectives, another production of Four Star Television, was a hit series which ran on ABC and NBC from 1958 to 1961; Goddard was signed for a role lasting three years (64 episodes). In 1963, Goddard appeared as Roy Mooney on the Perry Mason episode "The Case of the Potted Planter". In 1964 Goddard appeared as Richard on The Virginian in the episode titled "The Secret of Brynmar Hall." That same year he guest starred as a wild killer named “Boyd” in the episode “Journey For Three” on the TV Western series Gunsmoke (S9E36).
Goddard's next role was Major Don West on Lost in Space (1965–1968). A blossoming romance initially existed between West and Judy, the elder daughter of the Robinson family, but by the middle of the second season, West maintained an adversarial relationship with the hapless, sociopathic Dr. Zachary Smith
Goddard guest-starred on three ABC series, The Fugitive, The Mod Squad, and The Fall Guy and for a while, moonlighted as a Hollywood agent. In 1970, Goddard co-starred with Kent McCord and Martin Milner in an episode of Adam-12, in which he plays a friend of Pete Malloy (Milner), who is killed in the line of duty. The episode was titled "Elegy for a Pig" (so titled and announced by Jack Webb himself). Mark Goddard also played Ellie May's beau on the Beverly Hillbillies. Goddard played a supporting role in a 1974 episode ("Dark Legacy") of CBS's Barnaby Jones.
In 1979, Goddard starred as Ted Clayton on One Life to Live and as Lt. Paul Reed on The Doctors. Later, he starred as Derek Barrington on General Hospital. (Wikipedia)

Today, in UK Politics
I'm going to have to start putting a date on these things. I'm referring to 20/10/22.
The Prime Minister resigned. She lasted nearly nine Jane Greys (8.889 if you want to be exact), or 4.4 Scaramuccis.
So anyway, Liz is out and this means there's someone new to come in. Yay! Hopefully this is the last new PM before Christmas.
In the July leadership contest, when the Tories finally realised that maybe, just maybe, Boris was a terrible Prime Minister, a candidate has to be nominated by 20 Tory MPs to be included in the first round of voting's ballot. They then held the vote, and anyone with less than 30 votes was withdrawn from the competition. Voting continued with the MP with the lowest number of votes being withdrawn (and others withdrawing even if they did scrape in) until two people were left, and then all Conservative Party members, that's MPs as well as paid up members, then voted. It's obviously a lengthy process (this started in July and ended with Liz Truss the winner in September).
This time they've decided it'll all get done by the end of next week. Nominations close on Monday, and anyone with 100 nominations goes through. Given that there's currently 357 sitting MPs, that obviously means a maximum of three people going through. "If three candidates reach the threshold there will be an vote of Conservative MPs. The top two will then be subject to an indicative vote of Conservative MPs before going froward [sic] to an online vote of Party members. This will be completed by 28 October 2022. If only one candidate secures the required nominations there will be no confirmatory vote of Party members and the candidate will be confirmed leader on Monday 24 October 2022."
In case the last two bullet points were too lengthy, here's the TL;DR - I've had colds last longer than this leadership contest.
But why take your time over an important decision like who should run the actual country. It feels like something you should rush, right?
Jeremy Hunt says he doesn't want to be in charge. Probably very wise of him, honestly. (Seriously, though, remember when he was the worst Tory MP you could think of?! What sweet summer children we were!).
Neither does Michael Gove (remember when he was also in the running for worst Tory MP you could think of? Ah, the naivety of trusting vaguely to the political process).
Jacob Rees-Mogg, allegedly the Business Secretary, but we all know he's really the Minister for the 18th Century / a Victorian scarecrow haunted by a dead Victorian industrialist, is said to be encouraging people to nominate Boris Johnson, who apparently does appear to be in the running.
Boris Johnson.
The good news is, the suggestion of nominating Boris has immediately split the party. Because that's what they need. More divisions.
BBC political correspondent Ione Wells said that some senior Conservatives have said they would consider standing down and thus triggering by-elections if Boris gets the job back. On the other hand, Cabinet Office Minister Brendan Clarke Smith insists that the former prime minister was a proven winner who could restore his party's fortunes. This must be true, because everybody's favourite Boris fan, Nadine Dorries, says he's a winner! Her credibility - for want of a better term - is currently a little shot right now.
Penny Mordaunt, currently the Leader of the House, appears to be in the running, and so does Rishi Sunak, who was Chancellor of the Exchequer until he resigned in July and kicked off the whole getting rid of Boris things.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said his party was on an election footing, with a manifesto at the ready. I imagine they've been getting it into electioneering-ready status amidst the surprise that the Tories, handed a metaphorical rope by Labour's tabling amendments on the fracking legislation that had to be voted on, put said metaphor around their own necks and started shoving each other off the equally metaphorical battlements.
Also demanding an election is Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey, Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, and Wales's First Minister Mark Drakeford.
Not that they can force one, unless Labour can convince enough Tories to vote with them in a vote of no confidence, which they're unlikely to try for anyway. It's so much more useful for them if the Tories keep shoving people who cannot do the job into the PM job and burn their own party down from the inside.
Which will make a nice change for Labour, who over the last few years have been cheerfully engaging in the left wing's favourite hobby - schisming. Gosh, but the left love a good schism.
The next general election is not required to take place until at least 2024 (and by January 2025 at the latest) and, at this stage, it looks unlikely that date will be brought forward.
Because we're British, this is also happening, and it is magnificent.
