The TSR Debacle
I reposted an excellent write up this morning HERE about some of what's been happening over at The Sims Resource. Oh darlins.... that's not even close to allllll of the shit that's storming. I'm going to reblog several responses to the absolute piece of corporate drivel that TSR has publicly released to try and smooth out the gigantic backlash against them. Go read the statement by TSR first HERE... so that you can fully appreciate the abject ridiculousness and the corporate snivelling doubletalk that they expect you to swallow....
... and they didn't even ask you out on a date first!
I have had the HONOR to work with many of these absolutely AMAZING ARTISTS for the past few months. To create, side by side with this crew of people has been a dream come true for me. I got brought into MOD Collective back in May and yea... I was a bit nervous about what to expect..... Then I "walked" into the MOD discord and found some of my most FAVORITE custom content artists!!!! Are you freakin' kidding me?!? I get to work with some of the greatest Sims Creators out there.... a dream come true. Better yet, is when you finally get to meet some of your heros and realize that they are all really awesome people too. ..... and then this shit with TSR happens.
.......... I wasn't going to get involved. I was going to just repost a few other blogs...... but this corporate announcement from TSR is so rife with absolute spin doctored, "we-are-losing-customers-so-we'll-say-anything-to-try-and-make-us-look-like-the-good-guys" ludicrousness, that I wanted to add my own perspective of what I'm seeing.
I'm seeing people who've given YEARS of their lives to working with TSR, suddenly getting fired- with no warning, by some nameless pion in TSR that none of them has even heard of before, let alone knows who this person is. I'm seeing wonderful artists who RELY on their income from TSR to put food on the table and a roof over the heads of their families... getting thrown under the bus. I'm seeing people in Shock over how they've just been treated. ..... and now I'm seeing some corporate shill/shitbag putting out the LAMEST excuse imaginable to explain why these awesome people have been kicked to the curb.
Pure, nasty, bullshit.
I have so much more I'd like to say on this subject, but I'm going to leave it with this final comment: TSR doesn't give a rats ass about the people who are creating the content that YOU want. If you love your content creators, then it's up to you to express your "dissatisfaction".
The best way to express yourself is to Vote with your Feet.
............. Bye bye @thesimsresourceofficial - now that most of my favourite content creators are gone... I have no need to go back to your site.

No caveats. No "but think of the Palestinians!" (unlike Harris). No doubletalk (unlike Harris and Biden), no backstabbing (unlike Harris and Biden) no secret arms embargos (unlike Harris or Biden), no deals or talks with pro-Hamas organizations (unlike both Walz and Harris), no repeating Hamas-sourced claims of casualties (unlike Harris and Biden), no commending of pro-Hamas racists and protestors (unlike Harris), no ignoring the hostages (unlike Harris, Biden, and Walz). Just "hey. Israel is good. Jews having their homeland is good. I will work with you to make sure Israel stays."
Tell me again why Trump is bad for Israel and for the Jews? And how somehow Harris and Walz are better?
#trump is pro Israel#Trump for Jews#Trump#Trump 2024#for Israel#Trump stands with Israel#us elections#election 2024#2024 presidential election#democrats#republicans#Jews#Israelis#antizionism is antisemitism#left wing antisemitism#antisemitism#Trump cares about Israel#Kamala wants it gone

What got me is that even though he admits he doesn't know for sure how it ends, he's acting like he knows better, like he's more lucid and literate than the 350k+ of us who's been discussing and finding evidence for years. He thinks we're so dumb we won't even read between the lines of what he's saying. And he's trying to LOOK credible too with the way he's wording all that hacking stuff that no one asked about. Like yeah no shit sherlock. Not to mention that by admitting he doesn't think it's endgame, he's also admitting he never actually gave a shit and was hyping us to get whatever he wanted, whether it be money or attention - not because he supported our beliefs (and consequently the queer community, who was desperate for proof that we'll finally have good representation). So yeah I'm pretty shocked.
Dude is all doubletalk at this point. He says a lot without saying anything at all because what he does say contradicts itself. He says he doesn't know how it ends, then says they won't be endgame, then says either ship is plausible.
He's a guy holding a grudge. I don't know if he set out to be shady from the start, but that's where he ended up. Instead of owning up to it, he's dug in his heels and now holds a grudge. Yeah, some people went way too far in their reactions to this, doxxing him and supposedly threatening his family, but, if anything, that's just reason for him to try to move past this.
Honestly? I think he'd benefit from some therapy.

"no seatbelts, we die like men"
in a fascistic society, petit-bourgeois or middle-class life is defined by unendurable hypocrisies. The soul rebels at its intellectual diet of doubletalk, and the fascistic society prescribes as a solution the myth of catharsis in heroic death. In prior societies, defined by the industrialization of combat and the direct military struggle between regional powers for resources and prestige, the usual site for such martyrdom was to be pitched battle. But in the 21st century, regional and global powers fight their wars through remote proxies - rival governments a world away, trained mercenaries, remote-control airplanes, or the more abstract war-proxy of economic competition between rival multinationals. It is this final form of proxy warfare that takes place in the full light of day, and thus this and this alone - corporate warfare - is viewed as an appropriate site for the fascistic death-cult.
We have not yet reached a stage of history where these multinationals are capable by themselves of fielding standing armies and waging pitched battle over points of strategic importance; for those of us living in fascistic societies in this awkward in-between period, we encounter in our smallholder class a desire to prove themselves - and escape the contradictions of life as they must live it - by heroic endurance and eagerness to die in the realms of product choice and consumption.
In the near future, existing public unrest over product availability, price points, perceived social prestige, and brand image will escalate. Laws which already exist criminalizing boycott campaigns for select pressure groups will spread and become more general, and take on the character of inverted sumptuary laws. Fanatical brand loyalty which multinationals already encourage will explode into open sectarian violence.
Death serving the purposes of the state was never the objective of any of the previous century's fascistic death cults - the objective was to personally embody the perceived heroic virtues of the nation or ethnos at the site of death - but it was certainly more than a happy accident that such deaths served the state interest. Likewise, the first man to die for the sake of McDonalds or Disney or whatever other multinational will not perceive his martyrdom as one to the benefit of a corporate bottom line, but as an apotheosis, a blunt declaration of the supremacy of his rational economic choices and his marketing demographic -- and as a welcome reprieve from a life in which that supremacy must be seen as both inevitable and impossible

extremely fun commentary. interesting hearing actor-comedians talk about acting and also the writing/bts notes from moran. gives me the same feeling as reading books about movies none of my friends will ever watch—feeling of getting to have a conversation with someone about a piece of media. the metacommentary on the function of the commentary track seemed like it was meant to express how pointless it is but it works well as a reflective prompt for the six eleven-year-olds who have the liquid assets available to buy DVD sets. making the subtextual relationship between viewer and performer into text, which does emphasize the internality of the performer as you're both bonking your heads against the fourth wall that divides transmitter and recipient across space and time. since being the recipient can be a little lonely if it feels like you're doing all the work to animate the signal
dylan moran is 10 seconds away from killing the creator of DVD commentaries and then himself
#shit that makes me feel like i'm 12 years old in a pretty negative sense#at least there's critical analysis doubletalk. both in the commentary and this post. yippee

From the PA's official Wafa news agency:
Jordanian King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and President Mahmoud Abbas affirmed today, Wednesday, their opposition to any Israeli plans to displace Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and the need to condemn them internationally and confront them. At their summit, which was held in the city of Aqaba to discuss the dangerous situation in Gaza, the leaders stressed their complete rejection of all attempts to liquidate the Palestinian issue and separate Gaza and the West Bank, which constitute an extension of the one Palestinian state.
They're getting better at their doubletalk. But they mean the same thing they have said since October 7: no Gazans will be allowed to flee to safety, no matter how much they want to.
The position of the United Nations is that freedom to emigrate is a human right, part of the right to freedom of movement. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, "Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country."
Travel bans are considered a major infringement of human rights.
By any sane metric, banning Gazans from leaving if they want to is a massive violation of their human rights. But the PA, Egypt and Jordan enthusiastically support such bans on travel, as do NGOs that otherwise are dead-set against it.
Amazingly, they all claim that this is for the Gazans' own good. Equally amazingly, no one is asking Gazans themselves what they want to do and what they think of these leaders who decide for them what they are allowed to do.
Even though there are articles showing that many Gazans are desperate to leave.
The only, and I mean only, reason why no one is concerned over this massive violation of Gazan human rights is because they hate Jews more than they hate Gazans, and they think Israel would benefit from this mass travel ban on 2 million people. That is enough to damn them all to potential death and injury as Israel fights a terrorist group that uses those same civilians as their main line of defense.
The world's hypocrisy knows no bounds.

thought you might have fun tearing this apart
the post
short version is it's that standard kind of doubletalk where they hold up both self-id and transmed as correct and when you point out that those immediately contradict each other you're the bigot
combined with the self-centeredness of requiring you to give equal weight to self-report data (are you happy post-hrt) and empirical data (do you have a job)
they do have a couple good points tho, mostly coming from the way older clinical treatment plans were pointedly homophobic, but of course that gets completely misinterpreted by the op
on mobile rn so i'll get more into it later

Did I mention this week that Nikki Haley is just as anti-abortion as the other Republican candidates?
REMINDER: Nikki Haley Wants to Ban Abortion Nationwide
Don't be fooled by her circumlocutions, attempts to change the subject, and GOP doubletalk. A President Haley would appoint even more anti-abortion judges to the federal courts including the US Supreme Court.

I've been meaning to say this for a while now, but tbh 1984 always kinda struck me as being fairly Spirally, with all the doubletalk and the editing of history. There's undoubtedly a strong Eye connection with all the surveillance, but the Spiral and Web also definitely have a hand in.

god i had thought the 'humanitarian pause' shit was like. weird semantic doubletalk for a ceasefire of like, a couple of weeks or something, but it's not even that, it's "we will ask the fascists nicely to stop bombing evacuation routes (and nowhere else) for four hours a day"? we're beyond 'beyond parody'. the UK and US politicians across all but the most fringe parties are perfectly happy for everyone in Gaza to die, whether because they don't care or because they are too cowardly to risk anything to prevent a fucking genocide - and also think we're idiots.
meanwhile in UK news, after slowing review of asylum applications to an absolute crawl so that tens of thousands of people are stuck in indefinite legal limbo, the government is now making a big show of reinventing the prison hulk, spending a fortune to put a few hundred of those asylum-seekers onto an overcrowded and miserable boat. most likely a big show to try and hold on to its far-right base for a future comeback, since they're pretty much guaranteed to lose the next election.
well, that's grotesque - but at least when the Tories get voted out in a year, the Labour party will put an end to that right? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - no, you see, that would look bad in the Murdoch papers.
it's all just cruelty-as-spectacle all the way to the bottom. and apparently it works. what the fuck do you do!
#see you tomorrow at the armistice day protest i guess.#they're betting that whatever opposition comes from the left will be ineffectual - so far correctly. something has to give right? but when?#i know i've been posting a lot more political shit than usual lately i just. i don't know what to do. it's breaking my head.#england needs to be destroyed tbh

Everyone talks in lie language;
Lies slide off their oily lips.
They doubletalk with forked tongues.
Slice their lips off their faces! Pull
The braggart tongues from their mouths!
I’m tired of hearing, “We can talk anyone into anything!
Our lips manage the world.”
Psalm 12:2-4
