My frustration has very little to do with what's canon and a lot more to do with the way fandom shippers feel like the lack of explicit confirmation can be used as a bludgeon against people expressing discomfort with the ship when fandom is a media space rampant with romance-centrism and when the coding is as explicit as it is. And then try to throw out "I accept he's "canon" ace" as a way of shielding themselves from criticism despite that not actually being anymore canon than anything else. Also, frankly, I think people would be entitled to get mad if they walked back from this coding. You talk about fighting for representation, part of doing that is voicing criticism when representation falls flat. (And walking back the coding would be falling flat even if that wasn't the intention.) I don't actually think Riz is canon ace or canon aro. Because I do believe in death of the author and that the ability of the audience to interpret art is very important. And I agree that heavy coding alone isn't enough to make something inarguably canon. The problem I have is the way that so many fans go out of the way to dodge Riz's potential as representation and refuse to support aro fans who see themselves in Riz. Mostly, as far as I can see, for the sake of continuing to ship a pretty bland ship. And a little bit to protect the creators from some potentially deserved criticism. (Also, having not watched Voltron, I can't speak to the accuracy of the Klance comparison. But generally ship happy fandom exaggerates queer coding on everything except ace and aro coding. So I'm inclined to suspect it's not entirely apt)
There's is no problem with aro people relating to Riz and seeing him as Aromantic, but if you don't like when people ship Riz with people, just block them. Other people shouldn't have to stop having different interpretations because they make you uncomfortable.
Maybe people are dodging representation for the sake of a ship! But if that's your issue, I think you're talking to the wrong person. I'm not saying he isn't, and I'm not trying to ignore the coding. I'm simply saying that it isn't canon. That doesn't mean that the characteristics that make people believe he's aromantic aren't there. He still has those traits no matter what his sexuality is.
I have said over and over that there is a lot of coding, and it's obvious why some people believe that he's aromantic, but stating that he isn't canonically Aromantic isn't an attack on anyone, it's a fact.
Also, please don't get mad at Murph if he doesn't make Riz canonly Aromantic. Coding doesn't equal representation, and it's his character.

I love seeing posts that are like “I love nessian but Neris has piqued my interest but i love nessian and want them to keep being canon but-“ and its just babe
multishipping exists
Its for some reason rare as fuck in the acotar fandom but you can have multiple ships.. for the same character
And im not trying to be mean to these people but its just funny that it just doesn’t occur to them that they can do whatever they want. theres no rules and regulations 😭!!

eurylochus wouldnt have really lasted as a captain, right? not because he was slowly getting blinded by his hunger or whatever, but did the other crew not see he was the one who opened the bag?? idk if i was crew and we were so so so close to home and someone opened the bag that the captain said not to open, causing a storm to blow the ship so damn far, i'd be going mad at whoever opened the bag

probably swinging a bat at a hornets nest with this one but here's my sakura hot take. i am a sakura enjoyer but i haven't seen anyone enjoy her for the reasons that i do.
sakura is sopping wet and pathetic and the best way to enjoy her character is to look at kishimotos misogyny in the text as her own internalized misogyny.
her whole thing is being ashamed of coming from a civilian family and feeling like she needs to measure up to naruto and sasuke but she never ever will.
sakura gets in her own way with her obsession with sasuke... she thinks his validation will prove her worth. it's the best way she knows to attain greatness- by trying to use her femininity. but even when she tries to utilize her femininity to manipulate others, she fails. she represses her true personality and inner sakura because that inner self isn't girly or dainty... but she fails at that too.
watching her try and fail to prove herself over and over and get progressively more unhinged (kage summit) can actually be compelling but no one is willing to look at the sakura that was actually given to us in canon and instead either paints her as a complete monster or changes everything about her to make her a girlboss self insert.
kishimoto wrote her the way she is intentionally. she is shallow and vapid and vain. she is selfish. she was not written to be likable. to the point where kishimoto even expressed surprise that she has fans! but no one wants to dig into what that means!!! isn't it actually kind of tragic in an ironic way?
even the things shes supposed to be good at, she gets undermined by the narrative at every turn. he kneecaps her and his misogyny informs everything about her.
shes not a real person, shes a product of his mind. but what he presented us with is a character so stunted and desperate that it swirls around into a glimpse into kishimotos fractured psyche and a lens with which to view every female character in naruto. ok maybe fractured psyche is a bit intense but hating women is a disease xx

I find it odd that people will automatically think of a horrible term to use just because you don't ship-ship certain Marvel characters together it's like not everyone has to be in sort of a "romantic" relationship there are m|f of the Marvel world that I don't ship does that make me hate all hetero ships
Instead of assuming that one is something of a phobia why don't you ask them what ships one may do or even not just ships but think about asking of their views on the characters and their dynamics not everything has to come down to couples there is more to enjoy characters without going becoming a shipping topic this includes with DP and Wolv
