So i have another hobby apart from drawing and that is crafting miniatures, and i like to go all out when am crafting.but few weeks ago 2 of my teachers assing to bring materials for 2 projects(their both from different classes) and i the most creative person in the class got exited because i loved to craft stuff and all,and i did bring the materials requested but i got super technic and brought some tools that i use for crafting, some of my classmate were bewildered that's including my physics but they didn't mind in fact whenever they needed something to cut or drill they would come to me to ask if i can drill or cut something for their projects.at the moment i felt like a hardwear store but i didn't realy mind, but one of my friends saw how i technic i would get when working on projects and he said "girl at this point you can build a house" and technically speaking he is not wrong about it.
Because right now am about to repaint a dollhouse i been wanting to remodel.so the fact that i am "building" a house is 100% true🤣

a bit crowded atm!! here’s a temporary set up i have inbetween organizing and displaying my collection! my current plan is to remodel the rainbow high house. i had to remove the top bedroom, so that space will be turning into a roof garden.
i think the rainbow high house is awesome, i just can’t stand the printed furniture, it was the one thing that annoyed me the most about barbie houses as a child. i can’t wait to get it covered up and to make better furniture. i’ve wanted to customize a dollhouse for so long!

Just look at this beautiful freshly restored 1882 Victorian with the mansard roof. It's in Stillwater, Minnesota, has 3bd 2ba, priced at $550K, and some lucky people already have a pending offer on it.
Tumblr media
I thought that they painted the wood black, but that's its natural color and patina. Note the original bell on the door.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enter directly into the living room and there're stairs, plus a cute alcove.
Tumblr media
Isn't this a sweet little niche to sit with a book or needlework, and a cup of tea.
Tumblr media
The living/dining room are an open concept layout.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kitchen was completely remodeled and is super cute. Plus, it has a nice-sized everyday dining area.
Tumblr media
Off the kitchen is a powder room with the cutest little sink.
Tumblr media
Nice stairs to the 2nd fl. has the perfect choice of carpet.
Tumblr media
Wow, this is a spacious main bd.
Tumblr media
And, the interior reflects the shape of the mansard roof.
Tumblr media
The secondary bedroom is just as lovely.
Tumblr media
And, here's the smaller 3rd bd. that is also very nice.
Tumblr media
What a sweet little claw foot tub.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sunny little yellow Victorian is a dollhouse and it's know as "Grandma Bean's Playhouse," to the family.
Tumblr media
There's a nice 2 car garage.
Tumblr media
A small stone patio in the garden.
Tumblr media
The cupola is the jewel in the crown.
Tumblr media
Plus there's a great view of the St. Croix River.

Breaking the Dollhouse/Final Family AU
Andy had a panic room in the cabin. That is in past tense because it’s been basically remodeled into more of a “sensory room”.
Sometimes the kids, particularly Glen and Junior, get overstimulated by whatever’s going on or just overwhelmed, so Andy will take them to the sensory room instead. There’s fluffy blankets, pillows, multiple large stuffed animals, different fidget toys, and those glow in the dark stars that stick on the walls. It definitely helps the kids a lot get their bearings and Andy will stay with them or leave them alone in the room, whichever they prefer. It’s a room that now gets frequently used, much more compared to before.
Aww, I love that.
Andy bought so much stuff for that room and asked Glen loads of questions about the room them and Glenda found in Tiffany's house. Specifically, what they liked about it so that he could add similar things to the room.
Although, Andy definitely still has some security features in that room for emergencies.

My New Doll Project - Paradox House 1.0
Around 2005, the last time I was messing around with 1/6 scale (Barbie) dolls, I commissioned a local hobby miniaturist to make me a dollhouse. It has some issues, so it has actually spent the last 10 years as a small bookshelf, stacked on top of a larger bookshelf, holding me and Mal's series of collaged scrapbooks. Since I want a dollhouse to hold the exponentially expanding Led Zeppelin doll project, it is getting a remodel before I commit to commissioning a different one. So, it's a first draft!
If you'd like to see the before pictures, they are below the cut. I tried to make a little photostory out of them but it's not as good as the camper pics.
Tumblr media
This is the wide view of the house. Sun damaged collage from when the house was displayed in a window. One of the major issues of course, is that the door is not the same scale as the windows.
Tumblr media
The whole interior. The interior manages to be both too dark and dominated by overly large windows. Luckily, there a lot of new mini-LED light products on the market now.
Tumblr media
Have a skeptical Tris and Alex for scale. Unfortunately those old HP stickers are covered in several layers of modpodge. The whole outside is getting painted. The lads are both wearing early-1960s Barbie jackets today. Wow are those early Mattel clothes high-quality. Alex may not be giving the red silk boucle jacket back to the Barbies.
Tumblr media
And here we see the problem with this build. Creatable World dolls are shorter than Barbies so they actually fit in here better than the previous inhabitants but it's still tiny. And the interior is dark. And the door looks stupid. But, if I use what I've learned from the Barbie camper and from studying the Tiny House movement, I should be able to come up some kind of interior. First thing, I'm going to repair the door and put up a false wall at the back. Maybe, a fake window on one of the sides. This room will be styled as a kitchenette.
Tumblr media
Center room. This room will be mostly instrument storage/display. If I put 1-2 dolls per room I can display all 4 of the guys in the house and most of the accessories that are specifically theirs.
Tumblr media
Top floor, negotiating with Realtor!Barbie. This room will be a conversation pit-esque sitting room. It has a cathedral ceiling that I never bothered to finish the last time.
I would appreciate thoughts and suggestions. The general plan for now is to do a general repair and repaint of the whole doll house and replace the clear plastic windows with paper insert windows (urban scene on the inside, blinds on the outside). Then I can start working on the fun stuff.

Quote
The project led him into a small but growing community of artists in China filling an increasingly urgent demand: miniature replicas of homes that have been demolished, remodeled or otherwise swept away by China’s modernization. Designing and collecting miniatures has long been a hobby in the West. In northern Europe during the 17th century, dollhouses were a way for the wealthy to show off their properties; nowadays aficionados cite reasons ranging from escapism to aspirational interior design. But in China, where artists say the form is relatively new, miniatures have become a way to reckon with a society that has changed at a dizzying pace. Over the past 40 years, China has transformed from one of the world’s poorest countries into its second-largest economy. The share of city residents has tripled, and vast numbers of Chinese have seen the structures of their childhoods disappear, often through government redevelopment campaigns. “Nobody would actually want to live in these houses again. Once people have gotten used to nice things, they can’t handle these shabby ones,” Mr. Shen said. But “the pace of life now is too fast. Just because you live in a high-rise doesn’t mean you’re happy.” The miniatures “offer a kind of spiritual enjoyment,” he said, “when all your material needs are satisfied.” [...]“When I was a teenager, I never thought about nostalgia,” Mr. Shen said. “But once you’re at a certain age, with generations above and below you and all kinds of pressure, the past feels more precious.”

Saturday, August 19th
I'd like to have 4 children
August (Augie), River, Eden, Birdie
I consider all of them gender neutral names but Eden is more feminine I think, traditionally at least
Then again Cassidy is a more feminine gender neutral name and I do plan on being their father
Dad
Dada
I don't see myself as daddy
I want to fall asleep with all 4 of them in my arms and I want them to feel loved
I want to show them music
And I want to show them art
And read Moomin and Winnie the Pooh
And go to the beach and the forest
Ill make them banana pancakes
And chocolate pudding
Italian ice in the summer time when we sit in the inflatable pool together
Ill hose off our big dumb dog I'm sure we'll have and I'll grill corn for dinner
Ill be in a 3 bedroom, two kids per room
I'll go thrift sturdy old furniture and remodel beautiful dollhouses for them
Little chairs by big sprawling books shelves
In the dining area I'll have all their art framed in real frames from the thrift store
And their heights marked in the living room
A sun room full of books and a CD player and board games and dolls
Car tracks running from the top of the steps to the bottom
My bedroom will have a big bed covered in pillows and blankets so my babies can join me and the dogs will always sleep at the end of my bed
We'll have a big dog and maybe a little one
Maybe a little parakeet who can fly freely around the parlor
Bench with muddy boots and teeny little sandals spilling out the bottom
Ill have a pair of Mary Jane's for sunday's
On Sundays we'll do something special
Howl at the moon or talk to trees
When they have passions I'll take them out to explore them
Museums and obstacle courses and little diners where we can pool over their thoughts
Ill give them 5 dollars to get an iced tea and a bag of chips at the corner store in the summer
And always give them a Clementine before they leave the house
We could do little experiments in the kitchen
Growing strawberries out of the cans that once held our peach slices
Get one iced coffee and 4 slushies
Get 5 hot cocoas and 3 giant coffee rolls
They'll spend a weekend with their nana so I can visit the ocean with my friends
An week in the summer with their auntie on her farm
So i can visit the mountains and write
They'll have two uncles and three aunts, how amazing
And sometimes we'll wake up and just watch cartoons and eat cereal
And draw chalk and make slime
And paint all of our nails every color because someone is going through a phase
I'll write them little books and illustrate them
And I'll sew them costumes on Halloween

Eyyy, I worked a bit on my dollhouse remodel today!
It was originally done up in the dusty mint + bright leaf green combo shown at the bottom. I'm going over the bright green with a bluer shade that I think coordinates better with the dusty mint?
I also need to pry a lot more of the trim off the house, these were just the bits that had fallen off :v

Once upon a time we bought each other different kinds of gifts from different kinds of places.
Kimmer brought this up the other day because it's very much true. On our original lists of gifts we bought each other were cassette tapes, compact discs, VHS tapes, DVDs, and books you actually hold in your hand. The other major difference is that Amazon didn't exist at the time so everything was stored bought. That actually lasted 'til the pandemic when our habits changed overnight.
We actually used to shop at Alderwood Mall. I even did all my last-minute Christmas shopping for Kimmer there once without any kind of clue as to what I was gonna buy.
That was the last time I ever did that, by the way, because it's an expensive exercise in shopping and it's a bit of a thoughtless process. It's just buy buy buy.
That might've been the last time, in fact, that I shopped at the mall for Christmas.
Definitely, the biggest, earliest pivot we made was from retail to thrift. We eventually abandoned the mall and go-to places like Target for GoodWill, Value Village, and Half-Price Books where we could buy each other not only books but CDs and DVDs.
But then streaming. And YouTube.
And the only reason for CDs is if they're rock classics from our high school years. The only reason for DVDs is if the film or series isn't streaming anywhere (I'm lookin' at YOU BBC Ghosts). And then the only reason for books, well...
Kimmer's fully pivoted to Audible. And for me, instead of books she usually slips me a gift card so I can choose which book from my personal list is gonna be next for purchase. Even then, though, they're specific books I'm chasing and it's faster to order online even if it's HalfPriceBooks.com.
Still, in many ways we are more creative in the gifts we give each other. Some gifts, of course, are classics and always gonna happen. Others are inspired during the course of the year. For example, this year, about a month and change ago, Kimmer pulled her childhood wooden dollhouse out of retirement and began remodeling it room by room assisted by some shopping at Hobby Lobby.
So.
This year's Christmas gifts featured a bit of shopping at Hobby Lobby sore tiny lights, lamp stands, silverware, and china.
Oh, and an RV to be assembled with something like a billion tiny parts.
It'll be interesting to see where all this leads to next year's Christmas giftgiving.
But there you are:
It's an ever-evolving experience that continues to surprise us even this far out.

i think i'd like to build my own dollhouse. i think i'd make it a castle
#when i was a little girl i kept making my mom get me new dollhouses for my 3 inch dolls bc i was never content with them#bc there were always little details that drove me insane. like. lack of guest rooms. sticker furniture fuck sticker furniture.#narrow rooms that can't fit more than one doll. lack of hallways.#also they all had to be castles bc i shunned the non-castle dollhouses i had. bc all my 3 inch dolls were princesses or knights.#god i should've seen the med lit thing coming#i think the only adequate dollhouse i had was literally this fucking. 50s esque nuclear family's ugly house. which came with 6 inch dolls#who were ugly and had molded on hair with ponytails and i hated them. but i made many attempts to remodel their house#but i tended towards arranging all the 3 inch dollhouses together to make one massive house with all my requirements instead of using#that one bc the scale was wayyyy too big and it just didn't mesh well with the setting i was trying to pull off#then there was this plain wooden castle i got from michael's which i painted with watercolor pencils#and then there was the paper store box i made wrappingpaper wallpaper for and covered with duct tape to be a room for my mini josefina doll#and then when i was REALLY into ag my mom's friend gave me a dresser and triple bunk bed for my 18 inch dolls#but they couldn't all fit there so my grandfather made me a five-layer bunk bed for the rest#i've gotten rid of all my old our generation dolls. as well as the original bunk bed and dresser.#and my mom got rid of my samantha and my truly me (who i got in a raffle and didn't even remotely resemble me). so the remaining bunk bed#is kinda empty. but even if i never get another 18 inch doll there's no way in hell i'll get rid of it#but i was looking at pictures of the rh dorm and thinking abt how if he were still around#i'd be able to ask him to make me a nice new dollhouse like i'd always wanted. especially bc he always liked to take on new projects#but honestly? i can make one on my own. how hard can it be?#it'll be a castle and also based on what i think camelot looks like. and it will have wide hallways and plenty of rooms#i think it'll be to-scale with my mattel dolls bc i plan on making custom arthurian dolls and i know who i'm going to use as base dolls#already. so they'll all get to stay in their own mini-camelot#romeo.txt#dollposting
