thanks! doing this idly has been teaching me a Lot about choreographing fight scenes in a comic, which hopefully i won't have to do something serious with any time soon haha. and what it's turned out for this AU is a bunch of people who are really desperate to never be hurt again get locked in an arms race to find a way to hurt other people that won't come around and get them eventually, which does justify the magic i think, but also it does push for the magic to also be completely brutal and the visual behavior of spirits and souls to be the same as, if not worse, than the regular body. tldr all the shit marik pulls in canon (especially the scarab hourglass) owns hard and i want in and also for it to be worse and more direct. i'm glad this has wider appeal than to just me lol. cheers!

It had been a month. A month of back and forth texting, FaceTime calls, and learning more about each other. Rafe surprisingly opened up about a lot to you, other than the fact that he had his daughter. He still didn’t know how to bring this up. Now worried it would ruin everything.

You had off today so you and Rafe had spent all night on the phone. You had fallen asleep first so when you woke up you wanted to make it a point to text him.

9:29am: Hi, how pathetic am I fallen asleep on you like that?

9:30am: My first year residency is kicking my ass, I’m shocked that I even stayed up as late as I did.

9:31am: I’m free all day today, finally have a day off, so don’t be shy in texting me! 🥰

9:44am: I’m sure you’re at work and busy. Like I said I’m free all day. I just can’t wait to hear your voice again.

You hadn’t mean to sound desperate. This past month you and Rafe had been on top getting back to each other the second with of you had texted. You had both shared your schedules, you knew when he��d be in meetings and he knew when you’d be working at your internship. The second either was over, one of you was immediately sending a text. Unless there was an emergency meeting he got pulled in to, this was a bit of a strange break in the pattern.

You busied yourself as best as you could. You made yourself a nice breakfast, something you barely get to do anymore. Then, you caught up on some of your tv shows and when they were done you began a new book. You took a full pamper shower, cleaned up your nails, did your hair routine, your skincare, and applied some makeup.

It had been 4 hours and when you finally picked back up your phone it was still radio silence from Rafe. You let out a sigh of defeat. Mind racing that something that seemed so precious could already be over. He hadn’t even read the texts. You don’t mean to jump to conclusions, but no matter how well this seemed to be going, he was only just an online dating match who ended up living 5 hours away from you.

On the other side of North Carolina, Rafe was a mess. Harper had claimed she had a stomach ache and refused to go to school, meanwhile he caught the toddler in the pantry sneaking cookies and gummies 3 times this morning. He told her the only thing she was allowed to do was lay in bed and get rest if she was that sick. This lead to full blown tantrums and Rafe wanting to pull out the short hair of his buzzcut.

Between Harper fighting him all morning and having to rearrange his business schedule, this glued Rafe to his office desk. His personal phone was forgotten on his nightstand and he didn’t get a chance to think about it. He left the office door open, which gave him a perfect view of Harper’s and the hundreds of times he caught her sneaking out of it.

“Harper get back here!”

“No daddy, I want more snacks.”

“You said your tummy hurt, were you lying to me?”

“No.”

“Don’t lie to daddy, Harper.”

“Yes.”

Harper bowed her head in defeat. A cute way of defeat only a 3 year old could get away with. This caused Rafe to kneel in front of his daughter, lifting her chin delicately with his fingers.

“Why’d you lie Harper?”

“I don’t like school, I wanted to be with you. You mwake me safe.”

“Why would you need me to keep you safe baby?”

“Cause kids are mean and I don’t like ‘em.”

“Oh baby, I’m sorry. How about this, we spend the rest of the day doing anything you want? Snacks, movies, tea party. How’s that sound?”

Harper’s face lit up and she threw herself into her dad’s arms, wrapping hers around his neck and hugging him tightly.

“Yes daddy! Come!”

Rafe laughed as he allowed the toddler to drag him into the kitchen. She pulled out the tea set from the lower cabinet that was designated for all her stuff. Rafe put on some water to boil, then she went to pantry to pull out snacks she wanted for tea time.

They brought up everything to her room. Harper knew exactly how to set everything up. A setting for her, a setting for Rafe, and two other settings for her stuffed elephant and American Girl doll Sarah had gotten her.

They spent the entire day doing what Harper wanted. Rafe let his assistant know he would be unreachable as he just wanted to focus on his daughter. This was the first she brought up having problems at preschool. How the hell were 3 year olds already having issues. He got her to open up about it and it was 2 boys that would take her crayons and break them when she’d color or steal her gummies at lunch time.

Rafe took offense to that personally because he was always proud of himself for making her lunches every morning. But he quickly shook off the feeling of being pissed off at a 3 year old. Heloved being a dad and making Harper happy. He didn’t want to be sad or afraid to go to school. So to just do this little thing for her to see her smile, he was more than ok to do it.

When the time came around for Harper’s bedtime, he brushed through her now dried hair from the bath and tucked her into bed.

“You’re gonna have to go to school tomorrow Princess. I know it’s scary, but you’re a tough girl, I’ll come in with you tomorrow and talk with your teachers. We’ll figure this out together. Ok?”

Harper gave a soft sigh and looked like she wanted to plead with her dad to not go in another day. “Ok. Ima tough girl.”

“That’s right. I love you little one.”

“I love you daddy.”

Rafe had given her one final kiss before making his way to his bedroom and plopping down onto his sheets. He had forgotten about his phone all day and had decided to pick it up. There were notifications from Sarah, Topper, Kelce and all the way at the bottom there were four missed messages from you.

He ran his hand over his face. He never missed a text from you. He always had Do Not Disturb on and you’ve been the only one this past month that could still get through to him. He was stuck on what to say. His entire day was spent making sure his daughter had been happy. His daughter, you had no idea about. What could he even say?

It was now 8:30 at night. You had just cleaned up the kitchen from cooking dinner earlier. Mind finally at ease from the doubt and wary feeling about being ignored. You knew you shouldn’t have gotten attached, no matter how good it felt. He probably found someone closer to him and forgot all about you. Online dating has never turned out great for you. This was just another disappointing failure.

You sat on the couch, trying to push aside your thoughts as you engulfed yourself in your favorite movie. Your phone is next to you laying face down. It was almost 9 and even with a relaxing day of doing what you loved you were already feeling tired again. You rested your head in the palm of your hand as you our eyes began to close, a ping from your phone shot them right back open.

Embarrassingly, you reached for it quicker than you’d like to admit. You look at the notification and see it’s Rafe. You hold back a smile, not ready for what it says.

8:55pm: Hi. I’m really sorry about today. From the second I woke up chaos was erupting at the office. I had to get up and ready and rush out the door. I completely forget my personal phone at home and just got back. I missed you today. 🩵

You let out a breath that you didn’t even realize you were holding and smile warmly at the message. You were scared of rejection and know he feels this way you reply instantly not caring how it makes you look anymore.

Rafe took a sigh of relief at your response. He didn’t want to ruin this. But the gnawing guilt of lying to you about Harper made him terrified of what was yet to come. You said you loved kids. But would you love him when you found out he had a daughter?

so yes, molting is indeed partially triggered by hormones with a mixture of seasonal changes. while molting birds are Very grumpy and. ya know. hormonal. as a bird owner this is a terrible time to own a bird bc theres feathers and dust Everywhere, the flying toddler is grumpy as all hell and if youre extra unlucky you'll have to try and find ways to have them Not mate with anything they can.

why are they grumpy? well besides hormones running rampant theyre also losing and regaining feathers very quickly which is not only taxing for the body but also Very Uncomfortable. pin feathers are new feathers that are growing in and are uncomfortable and itchy as hell. theyre surrounded by a protective keratin sheath so it doesnt get damaged while developing. why would it be a bad thing to get damaged? bc while feathers are growing theyre connected to a blood supply. cut a growing feather and youve got a Lot of blood (which is very bad for smaller birds bc they dont got much blood in their bodies). though once the feather is fully developed the blood will retreat and its safe to take out of the sheath. but during that time of waiting for the blood to retreat they just have a small pin sticking out of them that hurts like a bitch when moved wrong. many times i have faced the wrath of my son bc i touched a pin feather wrong.

now another thing id like to note since someone here brought up how long itd take and estimated around 6 weeks. thats how long it takes for a Small bird to molt. now lets consider gabe. hes huge. hes gonna take more than 6 weeks. cockatoos spend months molting all their feathers. developing feathers takes time and a Lot of energy so the bigger the bird the longer it needs. and even with just his wings is still a Lot of feathers to lose. so i'd say rough guess give or take gabe would be stuck molting for maybe around 6 months. at least on the bright side he'd only molt every 2-3 years. which is so very lucky for an immortal being (sarcasm)

for birds preening is a form of maintenance. we brush our hair they preen their feathers. we take showers they also take baths in their water bowls they just dunked their own food into and you watch in disappointment. not Every bird can just preen each other. they have to trust you to do something so meticulous (itd be Very easy to fuck it up or rip out feathers if one wanted to). for pet birds this is something owners can assist in (and if you have a freak like me will also beg you to do it) but ONLY around the head and neck. everywhere else is an erogenous zone (except for the feet but they hate getting their feet touched anyway) so you shouldnt touch it. ever. that is for mates only and if you touch there youre sending messages you Dont want to send and can lead to a lot of behavioral issues

so with all of the above context you can imagine how itd be complicated for a "first time" interaction ("trying to stay out of overly sexual territory" i say then fall flat on my face (im not doing this on purpose i swear </3)). wings are very much a no-no square in multiple contexts so itd be something to negotiate both the relationship and the level of trust they have with each other. me personally i wouldnt let a violent gopro touch my wings unless i knew it wouldnt try to snap them in half first. but with these kinds of situations it can be fun to incorporate the buildup of trust to allowing someone to touch gabes wings. preening is something that is done carefully. it can be to relieve an itch, check for mites, rearrange feathers, or to just simply scratch a good spot (like playing with your own hair). but in the end its a form of gentle intimacy between two beings that trust each other

and then chaos ensues. he's feeding carrots to who he thinks is jiwoo, but it's in fact jiwon who HATES carrots with a burning passion. joshua almost cried at his daughter's tantrum, but doesnt notice the way you and jiwoo laugh behind his back as he runs around to think of a damage control.

or, when he's putting on a frilly skirt on jiwoo who starts screaming because she likes the shorts more than those irritating frilly, weird looking skirt.

i dont think this would last long though, like joshua's bound to fall onto the bed and worry about how he still can't figure out his girls. and while you try to calm him down saying that it's okay, the girls — who he had just put to sleep — climb up the bed and on shua's back and tell him all about the plan they had made with uncle jeonghan and that they were actually just pranking him. he sits up almost instantly and calls all curses in his mind, until the girls mention your part in this lil game and you swear you hear his heart break. needless to say, you've got two mature kids and a pouty adult to take care of now.

The entire buildup to this movie, it was talking about Karens' past and how she didn't want her kids to grow up like that, how she was babying them a bit too much and it was making them unhappy bc they're obv getting older..... But did Mr.WPNZ REALLY have to be her EX????!?!???!??

The entire time i was hoping that Mr.WPNZ would be her old boss, the one who picked her up off the street and raised her as a killer... The mafia she owes her life too thus why she's had to move so many places, why she had to be hard to track, why shes so very strict on what media her kids are exposed too. The kids get kidnapped because not only do they want NEW hitmen but Karen was one of their best... Not THE best but not having her there was an inconvenience and how dare the spoiled brat turn her back on the people who raised her so what better payment than to take her kids as her replacements

She would still get to learn how to loosen up given the situation and how the kids would still get the duality parenting thing in a weird fucked up way.

Not to mention.... This movie was just a giant cliche

That's not a good strategy. That's just stupid. I hate the inconsistency in characters that smg4 makes, like what the hell. Can they be like how they were introduced for more than five seconds??? Can they keep their character growth? Can they do things the way they know how to do things and not be fucking morons?

♡ then albatross was a caregiver for chuuya. ill admit i havent read stormbringer yet... i wanna but idk why im procrastinating 😭 i know a decent amount about it, and about the flags from fanfictions and just being in the fandom though. i dont think albatross really knew a name for what chuuya was going through, but i do think he loved and cared about chuuya, and understood he was traumatized and not doing well mentally, and figured it would make sense for chuuyas brain to seek comfort in a childlike way. he already viewed chuuya as his little brother, he didnt care what age that meant, he just wanted to be there for him! the rest of the flags would babysit for chuuya as well, doc would bandage any ouchies hed get and give him a lolipop to keep him from crying. lippman would love to dress chuuya in fun outfits, and vice versa. iceman would spend quiet time with chuuya and color with him, let him sleep on his lap, pet his hair and make him some tea while he drank his coffee (giving caffeine to a five year old doesnt go over well, lol, he didnt want chuuya too excited- that part he left for albatross lol). i hc specifically that iceman would give chuuya sleepytime tea to get him tired and to fall asleep lol, he likes a quiet environment, and though chuuya is by no means a rowdy kid, sometimes its just nice to relax with a sleeping baby in your lap! i dont know much about pianoman tbh... but he babysat for chuuya too!!

♡ i could see adam being a caregiver as well, and this is where chuuya discovered that what he experienced had a name- age regression. adam, being a robot, was able to inform and educate chuuya about it in a way that the sheep or the flags couldnt. chuuya didnt see anything wrong with it. from all of his life that he could remember he regressed, other people he knew regressed, no one had a problem with it, and if they did they could mind their own business, so help him, lol.

♡ and then ofc, dazai caregives for chuuya! whereas i headcanon chuuya as a flip, dazai is solely a regressor, and has problems accepting his own regression, but would take care of chuuya no questions asked at the drop of a hat. he knows chuuya would, and does, do the same for him, and theyre partners. having each others backs and taking care of each other is what they do. and if taking care of each other means watching paw patrol for hours, or taking chuuya to the park to pet some puppies, or cradling him as he falls asleep, drooling onto dazais chest, then thats what hes gonna do.

˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗ pet names!! i think chuuya would like to be called baby boy, honey, kid/kiddo, pretty common ones. dazai would ofc use chibi, mackeral, and slug, i read somewhere the hc that he calls baby chuuya neonate, which is the baby version of a slug lol, and i love that. adam calls chuuya very basic names, like sweetheart and honey. i like to imagine shirase calling chuuya little lamb, cuz they were in the sheep, and singing mary had a little lamb to him, and chuuya was the little lamb.

˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗ speaking of the sheep, chuuya has a sheep nightlight. he uses it when not regressed too, because hes scared of the dark. it gives him nightmares and reminds him of his time in the lab. so his sheep nightlight lets him sleep easier.

˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗ bed time is relatively easy for chuuya. hes an active baby, always wanting to get his hands onto a new activity, be it playing, coloring, tv, drawing, games, whatever. hes always a bit tuckered out by the end of the day and will easily fall asleep in his caregivers arms. he really, really likes to be cradled to sleep, or hugged in someones arms, because the warmth and safety of his caregiver's arms is a welcomed difference to the cold, loneliness he felt in the lab, or when he was afraid and breaking down all alone :(

˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗ chuuya is a trauma regressor (he is heavily implied to have cptsd, and i also headcanon him to have bpd). he regresses to cope with not remembering his childhood, and moreso from what he does remember of his childhood.

˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗ chuuyas a bit of an older kid, and he doesnt usually suck his thumb, but if hes feeling especially nervous or had a bad day or is having a panic attack or flashback, i think hed start sucking his thumb for comfort (despite telling dazai not to when hes taking care of him lol). dazai never understood the sentiment of pacifiers, but he knew when he was regressed and sucked on his fingers, chuuya always made him sue a pacifier, so he thought in the long run chuuya would appreciate if he gave him a pacifier to suck on. chuuya accepts it, he has nothing against pacifiers, he just needs the sucking sensation to calm down.

˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗ the baby loves cuddles!! even when hes not little, too, but especially when hes feeling small!! hell tuck his head under his caregivers chin and nuzzle into the neck, and he loves to sit on his caregiver's lap! and yknow whats even better than cuddles...? KISSES!! chuuya, the eversweet little guy he is, loves to give his caregiver kisses, and loves to be kissed!! he loves to shower them with kisses on their cheeks, and feels so warm and cozy when hes being put to bed for the night and his caregiver gives him a sweet, tender kiss on the forehead.

i hope its okay to complain about rtte in your inbox, youre one of the few i've seen on here who doesnt seem to revere the show lol 😭. i feel like throughout the show hiccup consistently ignores and brushes off his teammate's input and concerns and it's just....never really adressed or seen as...not good. I mean going against the grain is obviously not out of character for hiccup but the way he does in rtte feels ooc for him in a way i cant really place my finger on. also the Johann plot twist was so stupid and they clearly didnt go into the show planning it. it pisses me off so bad omg. i feel like rtte's only big redeeming quality for me is that it builds on Snotlout's character

I get what you mean, throughout rtte there are many instances where Hiccup treats his teamates more like toddlers he's stuck babysitting than actual allies. I've said before that Hiccup is always framed as being in the right unless the show goes out of its way to point out that he made a mistake and that applies here as well. The other riders (especially the twins and Snotlout) do sometimes act counterproductively to their overall goals but they still prove that they’re helpful team members with valuable input time and time again. So having Hiccup just dismiss them outright, only to see them be proven right without it ever being adressed, sometimes makes Hiccup seem aloof in a way that i don't think was intended

One example that immediately comes to mind is The Zippleback Expirience, where Snotlout suggests that they just "blast their enemies away" with their dragons, Hiccup awnsers "that’s not our style, since when do we just blast people away", only for them to do exactly that at the end (also that’s what they do in like 2/3 of all episodes, wdym "that’s not our style")

Also yes the Johann twist was stupid but what annoyed me way more was Heather having that stupid lense on her belt THE ENTIRE TIME because i spotted it immediately and then concluded that it must be an easter egg or smth. Because how on earth would none of the riders point this out, even when she was living on the edge for what i assume to be months. But no, apparently everyone turned partially blind just so they could pull off the lamest "twist" imaginable

thought about bio mom au for 2 seconds and how i said celestial children need at least 3 years of regularly absorb/siphoning their mother/parents power in order to stabilize their own especially when its a child born the way mk is in this one. i thought more on it because depending on which route i wanna take, if mk is taken as a newborn or toddler(2), he won't get that important part of his development. which wouldn't be a problem initially because hes sealed, but once he touches the staff that part of himself is now unsealed, the parent/child bond is also unsealed(this is basically just a little connection of magic, they cant actually feel anything from it) so it does start siphoning what it needs from wukong. he doesn't really think anything of it because he figures its something to do with mk having the staff that connects them and that mks powers took just a bit to jumpstart his own.

which could be the reason wukong has a smaller role in most of the first two seasons, mk is taking the power he needed as a child so its made wukong a bit weaker than normal, he thought it had just been that one time when mk first touches that staff that took just a portion of his power. he does get a bit annoyed that its taking so long to get that portion back. he doesnt notice that mk is siphoning his power basically continuously and that the more time spent together the more mk takes by proximity. unfortunately this is not helped by him being captured by spider queen, and hurting himself to get the map and mk getting his powers back faster then he himself is. and all the LBD stuff.

i like to think his dad never told him that he was the representation of the nikoniko republic, mainly because he didn't want to entertain his son's pursuit of nationhood considering all the things he went through during it (not aging, getting sick 'cus of the economy).

i also like to think that while he doesnt know who the personification of nikoniko republic was, he sees them as a sort of role-model and someone he aspires to be anyways. :D

Hello c: I was going through the Denali asks in your blog for uh scientific purposes(?) And i came across the ask about MC having already a child so yk how would the sisters be around the kid and all, super sweet I must say I love it. But questions happened in my mind. I know it wasn't probs in 'The sisters' timeline bc MC doesnt have a kid in that story but let's think for a moment that she has. So you have now MC with a child and the Denali sisters as her mates, in the kids eyes like 3 gfs I imagine, so my question is how do you explain that to the kid? like they went from having just 1 mom to have three extra maternal figures (without counting Carmen ofc), wouldn't that be confusing for the kid? Unless they were a baby and yk they grew up already in the fam so to speak so theya re already used to that so they don't question it(?) I think I'm confusing myself by overthinking all this XD Idk if I made myself clear bc words are hard and I wasn't sure on how to put into words mys crambled thoughts, also you'll sure know who this is, I just ask too many questions and get all shy and embarrassed bc im a dork XD Thanks as always for the answer <3

That´s actually something I´ve been thinking about as well lately. Like, even if MC wanted kids, Tanya pretty much took that chance away from her by dragging her into this supernatural world (that she isn´t even fully aware of yet). So there´s probs gonna be a convo about that at SOME point because it´s all about those "bumps". 😉

Anyhow, back to the tame world. 😅

I think it depends on how old the kid is, as you said. Like, if they're toddler age (or younger) when MC joins the Denalis, then they've known nothing else. Not much explaining needed because it's always been Mom, Mama, Ma and Mother.

If the kid is old enough to understand what's happening (or at least old enough to realize Mommy is much friendlier with the pretty blonde ladies than with any other "friend"), then I guess it depends on the questions they ask. I'd imagine MC would wait until her kid comes to her, listen to what's on their mind, and go from there. She's not gonna turn it into a huge thing that needs sitting down and explaining in great detail because I think that would confuse the child, actually. Like-

Depending on the kid's age, I think showing is better than using too many words they might not fully grasp yet. So it's more that MC would include The Sisters in daily/family activities like going for a walk in the park, cooking together, going to the beach etc. Maybe steal a kiss or two while she's at it. Y'know, slowly getting her kid used to their presence (and the PDA) and then steadily increase the time they all spend together.

And y'know, I can imagine this would eventually raise questions like "Mommy, why did you and Kitty kiss today?"

(Bonus question: Who's "Kitty"? 😏)
