Wait a minute. Who wrote this script?! They got Lestat looking weak and helpless….and we all know that Lestat got too much of a temper to be this damn righteous.

Sam Reid: I ate so many of those photos. They were made of rice paper, so they stuck to the roof of my mouth. There were a few where I just shoved the whole photo into my mouth, but that didn’t work, so I had to eat it. It was like eating a sweet cake. They were stuck to the roof of my mouth and I couldn’t keep talking.
They’re saying mean things about Louis’ photos, so he’s going, “Fuck you! You took a beautiful photograph. Don’t listen to that guy. I’ll eat it.”
Jacob Anderson: I loved it so much.

i know louis stans who stan him in worse less intelligent way than i do won’t even agree but ldpdl whos genuinely ass at photography is something so important to me. i choose to believe they left this piece of canon true. ldpdl is notoriously a vampire with zero talents in art. lestat is good at performing armand is good at painting and telling lies and louis? she’s just pretty leave her alone. this is how god intended it to be.

There are always 2 sides.
The discourse around Louis and Lestat being a victim and abuser and nothing more drives me insane.
Something i don't think enough people remember is that the very same reason the fight began in 1×05 (lestat grabbing claudia by the throat when she tries to "take louis away") we see Louis himself do to her in 1×07 when she tries to get Louis to burn Lestat.
They BOTH would harm her rather than live in a world without the other. They are both guilty of abusing her and each other.
There is an implication that a good deal of time passed between Louis and Lestat meeting and the church. Louis expresses that he shares himself with Lestat in a way he only had with Paul. I would assume that goes both ways, to a degree. We know Louis knows at least enough about Nicki to discourage Claudia poking that wound. He also clearly knows that the threat of leaving is his most powerful weapon against Lestat.
Mental abuse is abuse. And Louis abused Lestat mentally for years. Shaming him, ridiculing him, shutting him out, manipulating him into making Claudia (a traumatic moment for him, whether Louis understands the depths of it or not) by promising to give him what he's being denying him, promising to never put him through what he fears the most.
Louis admits to purposely making Lestat suffer. He admits he was warned that Claudia would suffer and he wanted her anyway because he needed to feel redeemed. He is not innocent. He is not a trapped, weak victim. He made choices to hurt both Lestat and Claudia time and time again.
Does this justify Lestat's actions in 1×05? Obviously not. But we now know Louis was not willing to stop the fight. He taunted Lestat the same way he taunted the Alderman. He was unleashing years of frustrations just as Lestat was. His priority was not to protect Claudia, it was to hurt Lestat, consequences be damned.
I hate the drop scene as much as the next person and Lestat has admitted he will never earn forgiveness for what he did. But if you view Louis as some squeaky clean victim who was manipulated, trapped, and abused by Lestat you are missing so much of what this show is conveying.
We will always tend to paint ourselves as the hero of our own story. It is hard to accept your faults or that you hurt people you love. It is much easier to shift that blame on to someone else, to frame them as the villian. But life is not usually that black and white. Claudia had harsh words for them both in her diary, even before they got to Europe, for a reason. They both made hurtful mistakes with her, both treated her like a pawn in their relationship instead of a person, both harmed her, took away her choice, never prioritized her.
That is the great tragedy. That she never had a choice and was not allowed to be her own person. And in the end, they both are responsible for her misery and her death. That's what makes the reunion scene so important. They have been grieving her and carrying that guilt alone, all the while longing for the comfort of the other for 70+ years. Louis has found clarity in his memories, he has accepted his role in their suffering, he has seen Lestat's perspective more fully. Lestat is broken, totally consumed with that guilt and grief. Both know that although they cannot change what they've done, they can forgive the other, even if they can't forgive themselves. They can love each other despite everything they've done to one another because they cannot stop loving each other. But now they can try to rebuild that love from the rubble.

The juxtaposition of Louis’ monologues on Claudia and the actual scenes with Claudia are so funny to me.
Louis: she was an obsessive whirlwind
Claudia: let’s spend more than .05% of our immortal lives looking for and researching our own kind.
Louis: there was nothing in her but feverish fixation
Claudia: omfg Louis uncurl from your ball of depression we have shit to do.
Louis: she was a perfect killer, forever teetering on the edge of madness
Claudia: *possesses the ability to eat people without writing tearful poetry about it*
Louis: she was mercurial- always abandoning me to chase her desires :(
Claudia: I hate your boyfriends
Louis: she was never satisfied, and rebelled and suspected Armand and the coven
Claudia: I HATE YOUR BOYFRIENDS
Louis: god I feel so responsible for her- even for the bad stuff that happens her- it’s such a burden
Claudia: you told your boyfriend we did WHAT on your second date???

highly unlikely, given the fact that it's not intended as a comedy, that there'll ever be any iwtv crossover episodes even though there definitely should be because I love crossover episodes especially when it's only referenced in one episode and then never again
But I would give my left arm for Daniel to ask Lestat, during the interview, where he was and what he was doing between his attempted murder and the trial and his answer to be a nonchalant "Hm? Oh, I was just visiting some friends in Staten Island, we've known each other for over a century now. I've invited them to the next show on the tour actually, they should be arriving soon," and then the doorbell rings and it's Guillermo struggling to carry a comically large amount of suitcases with Nadja, Laszlo, and Nandor standing behind him.
The rest of the episode is just Daniel trying to keep the interview on track and slowly losing his mind when it keeps getting derailed, and then they leave at the end and it's just never talked about again.
I would like to see it.

one night, freshly turned louis feeds from lestat and he drinks so much that lestat carefully cradles his head in both of his big palms and gently pulls him away from his neck "mon cher, i have no more to give", he doesn't want to stop him but he's feeling faint and hungry again "I will go feed and come back home to you, saint louis"
in response louis looks up at him with big round eyes that hold so much hurt in them, lestat said he would take care of him, so why is he stopping him from feeding from him? he promised that he would give him the world so why can't he give him this? and now he wants to leave louis alone to go hunt..?
lestat obviously isn't privy to louis' thoughts anymore but he can see the glassiness that covers his eyes, he can see the sad frown on his face, he notices the way louis is looking at him but not really seeing him and decides that he won't can't leave him alone in this state
so he gathers louis further into his arms, pulls him onto his lap and holds him throughout the rest of the night, occasionally rubbing a hand down his back as if he's comforting a frightened puppy, and peppers kisses on his forehead, nose and cheeks because louis' makes a cute lil sound every single time that he does
When louis eventually comes back to himself he's a bit embarrassed by his actions and tries to pull away but lestat doesn't let him ofc, he holds him tighter and tells louis how sweet he was for him "louis you never told me just how much you liked my blood" he says, his smile evident in his voice
by the time sunrise comes, they have made their way to the coffin and louis is snuggled up to lestat with his face once again in his neck (this is louis comfort place), lestat has his arms wrapped tightly around him and just like that, completely surrounded by each other they fall into a deep sleep.

I still feel the fight in 1x05 was a mistake. And I only say this because the writers clearly didn't mean it to imply that Lestat was this irredeemable abuser and some gotcha moment for certain fans to proclaim Loustat shouldn't be together. The writers saw it as a way to show Lestat's cloud gift; they clearly never saw it becoming what it became within the fandom. I mean, this is a show about vampires.
And this is not me saying what Lestat did wasn't fucked up because it very much was. However, I once again see people putting too much of their own morality onto a show about vampires. I see it all the time now, everyone wants to put characters into "good" and "bad" boxes, and that's all their allowed to be; people don't want to stan "morally grey" characters; there has to be an apparent "victim", and a "villain" and that's all these characters can be.
That's simply not the story the writers are telling, and it certainly isn't the story Anne Rice was trying to tell. The revisit in 2x07 didn't change that much. However, it continues to strengthen the idea that not all is as it seems. And if the writers revisit the scene again in season 3, it's because there is more they want to say about what happened. There is more to the story than what we've seen.
The idea that they shouldn't revisit it again because the fans have already decided what happened is ridiculous. I need you all to realise the genre you're watching and the books it's based on. Unreliable narrators and things not being as they were first presented are the heart of the story Anne Rice was trying to tell.
There are no good guys in The Vampire Chronicles; they are all century-old vampires who've done terrible shit, who've all been victims, and predators in equal fashion. Some of you will enjoy the show going forward a lot more if you're willing to accept that.

i understand that the lestat-daniel interview is going to take the form of a music documentary. and that is probably the best option. but i cannot stress funny it would be if they did youtube vlogs instead. i think daniel should post cunty little "on the road" and "backstage" videos where he interviews lestat. lestat barely answers the questions and instead talks directly to the camera, sharing thinly veiled messages for louis. daniel occasionally makes not-so-thinly veiled bitchy comments toward armand. everyone thinks lestat and daniel are talking to each other. theyre convinced that both the book and the vlog are part of some elaborate roleplay. they get cancelled for making their clearly sexual blood kink so public. and, most importantly, there is an obscene amount of RPF written about it. within a year there are like 20,000 fics about them. theres fanart on twitter. louis thinks that this is HILARIOUS and regularly asks daniel how his husband is in the bedroom. armand is completely oblivious until someone sends him a link to a Cosmopolitan article titled "Sex, Blood, and Rock 'n' Roll: the Love Story that Took the World by Storm" at which point he promptly shatters whatever glass he's holding (and everything else in his house) and tries to buy daniel a private island, which in turn sends the shippers into a frenzy, because now danstat has an attempted homewrecker???? they are so real guys omg
