Hello, friends. My life had been incredibly chaotic lately (deciding to rescue a tiny kitten during one of the most exhausting weeks I've had in a while sure was A Choice but I fell in love lol) and while I was really hoping to have shutter speed chapter 7 up this week, I'm thinking around this time next week is more likely. I'm about halfway through editing the draft but SDCC weekend really slowed me down and I'm just now getting back into the swing of it. Anyway, I know I said I was done teasing things from this chapter, but all things considered I have decided to drop another teeny morsel here for you all to enjoy. 💖

“Why don’t we dance more, Louis?” Lestat threw his arms around Louis’ neck and pushed close. Over his shoulder, Louis watched a man in a mesh tank top snort a line from the vanity table.

“I don’t know, Lestat,” Louis said, touching Lestat’s waist, his back. In his momentary surrender, he allowed Lestat to draw him closer. “Didn’t exactly go too well the last time.”

“Oh, Louis,” Lestat puffed a laugh against the side of Louis’ neck. “I was in a dreadful mood that night. I am much better now.”

Lust and irritation swelled in Louis until he thought he might be sick from the feeling. Underneath it, something like dread rose up. “Why are all these people here?” he asked. Eyes on the humans, repulsed by the sight of the blood in their veins. Three of the women were wearing t-shirts plastered with Lestat’s face and The Vampire Lestat in bold letters.

“They are my fans, cheri,” Lestat exclaimed too loudly. Then, quieter, his lips pressed right to Louis’ ear, he said, “They love me so.”
