The King's Hound Review

I recently had to go travel and read a few works that I never got around to reading but was interested in.

PLEASE REMEMBER THIS REVIEW IS DONE BY ME AS A READER AND IS MY OWN OPINION.

This means I will review in accordance to my own tastes, how the game caters to me, and what I feel. Do not take my word as gospel, what I may not be interested in or dislike, may be what YOU are interested and love!!!

Synopsis:

You are the King’s spouse, his right and left hand, the unstoppable executor of his will. Your name is whispered by enemies and allies with fear and respect alike, some says it’s your arm that bears the weight of the entire kingdom.

They call you the King’s hound. It started as a way to taunt you but it’s not that far away from the truth. Your loyalty is blind, your devotion absolute. The King’s vision is your vision.

Your name will forever mark history alongside theirs.

But for now, you are being shipped to your betrothed, alone and powerless on your way to Camelot.

As the seventh child of the Venegard House, you’ve always had little to look forward to other than an arranged marriage to achieve a political alliance.

Review:

The Good: The project is 18+, and the writing is very well done. It just feels quality. Plus the UI and and dark background are classy. The game is Twine, so you get the save functions of Twine and all that jazz. Anyways, descriptions are well done, the worldbuilding is grounded and helps form the politics in-game. It's thought-out and noticeable. The player customization goes hard and you even get the option to play mute! In The King's Hound, you also find a game that provides the LGBTQ+ demographic and FemMC playing community a welcoming and acknowledging home. The descriptions of the fight scenes and battles (like action set pieces) are good and don't leave you scratching your head. The transitions between paragraphs and pages happen naturally and without breaking pace, which shows the talent of a writer that considers their audience. Also, in regards to the King Arthur mythos and worldbuilding done by the author, i just really appreciate the fact that Camelot is Welsh.

It just gives me an idea of how much the author researched or cares about the mythos to give that respect of origin for the story. I had problems with how King Arthur was being super nice at first, but the author recently stated in a post that Arthur was acting in such a manner because he is deliberately trying to be the opposite of King Uther!

And that in the future, the work will offer more text to reveal that to us, the player.

The Bad: I wouldve liked being able to marry a cousin, niece, sister, or even daughter of King Arthur (or genderbender him) but that is literally my only complaint as a straight dude tryna self insert. The author tells you explicitly that you are marrying the king. If the author decides not to, as is their right and vision, I have no problem whatsoever. I still think the work is well written, and has many elements that i personally fuck with (low fantasy, grounded narrative, adult themes) The fact that i wish the author could change this, is only because i like the work so much. Instead, in this playthrough King Arthur will find that the MC practices

The Ugly: The MAP. But that's only because my history buff mind thinks of the British Isle when hearing these names and when i saw the map it physically gave me whiplash. But youre making your own version of the story, so bully!

The Aftermath: I know this game isnt catered towards me as a straight dude. It is a proud queer game with quality writing, that'd also do really well for the FemMC readers. I would recommend this game to anyone who wants a low fantasy medieval setting, with good writing, and grounded narratives that isn't a straight dude's traditional power fantasy.

Platonic Yandere Baldurs Gate 3 x teen reader (Drabble)

(Just a quick idea i might flesh out a bit more in the future. Just take it as a oneshot at the moment. Reader is about 13-14 ish. For Gale's ever dying annoyance you'll be a sorcerer. I like to imagine the reader as a thiefling cuz theyre cool, but whatever you want goes as it isnt described anywhere.)

"Why... is there a child here?"

You heard the gith woman speak to mostly no-one as you had encountered her on this burning mess of a mindflayer ship.

You wonder that yourself. Why take you? Just a little teen with no real significance? Surely there's better candidates for the mindflayers to infest...

"I can hear you, you know?" You sigh and walk closer to the unknown woman.

Sure Githyanki people were known to mercilessly slay anything that even resembled an obstacle.. But seeing as you're having the same problem... and she also looks lost... you'd take this one chance.

"Don't speak to me." The woman hisses. Her armor glints in the light of an explosion out of the ships' window.

You shrug and walk past her. Moving trough the choatic halls of this fleshlike vehicle. The scurrying brains on the floor weren't a pleasant sight... but you've seen worse.

All you really had on you were the clothes you were abducted with, your long stick from the woods that you used to practise your magic and a dagger because your mother had advised you to carry one...

But against otherwordly foes... this aresenal looked a bit bleak...

You soon noticed the woman following you silently. Why? You didn't know. Probably because of the aforementioned fact that she also didn't have a clue what to do here.

"So what's your name?" You spoke curiously. Not that scared of the gith anymore now that her shining blade remained sheathed.

"I said to not speak to me, tshk." The gith woman sneered.

"Just curious." You respond with your hands in a surrendering motion.

But you get it, she's cautios. You'd be too if you met some kid on a mindflayer ship. They're not exactly common. It's safe of her to assume you're a ploy.

"My name's Y/N." You just mention for the hell of it. Might aswell die being known.

"... Lae'zel..." Ah... there's the name you wished for.

"Exotic.." You nod in acknowledgement. Probably not the best thing to say at the moment, but for some reason you felt calm. Something in your head was making you think so, atleast.

You and Lae'zel traveled a bit further down the halls of the Nautiloid. Passing by corpses of people with missing brains... yuck. A little chest here.. a little chest there. Your mother would be happy with some extra gold...

"You're a little thief, are you?" Lae'zel spat in distaste.

"Providing for the family, ma'am." You salute jokingly.

Lae'zel looks slightly startled by either your actions or your words. Keeping closer to you as the noises of fighting became louder.

In the end, you and Lae'zel had aquired a new compagnion, a lady named Shadowheart had been freed from one of the mindflayer cocoons. How did you open it, you may ask? Well you just cast Knock. It really took the intrigue off of the buttons next to the pod.. But it made everything easier.

This Shadowheart person was very secretive... immediately throwing hostile statements at Lae'zel, wich the gith returned. You supposed this is what your mother meant by girls infighting?

But all in all, they might despise eachother and glare at you as if you ate their left arm.... they still helped.

Lae'zel had instructed you all to go to the control room, apparently she's felled these ships together with her Githyanki squadrons before. Wich is cool, but you wouldn't say that considering Shadowheart might want you dead if you admit any liking for a gith.

What met you at the control panel was a big fight... well for your standards, that is. You were used to stray magic monsters or stealing goblins...

An infernal general of the hells... well not really on your preffered list of foes....

Luckily you had your two capable compagnions. Shadowheart blasted that guy with continous holy blasts, while Lae'zel just rammed a greatsword trough his fiery armor.

Cool, fighting is... cool. Atleast your spells were used for more then washing the dishes at home now.

After taking over the ship, it just fully crashed, you felt the air whip in your hair and cut into your skin as you fell down along with the debree of the Nautiloid.

Lae'zel and Shadowheart were nowhere in sight... so you tightly closed your eyes, bracing for impact... Wow... you'd be so lucky if you knew feather falling right now... bummer that you didn't.

The impact didn't come. You felt light for just a moment before you just passed out onto a wet patch of sand.

Well... not dead.. yet.

"Hey... wake up.."

Something... or considering their ability to talk, someone nudged your shoulder.

You blinked your tired eyes open. Sclera feeling dry and burned from the amount of ash on the crashed ship.

A drow stood above you. Wich is... very strange, where were you? They don't live on the surface... do they?

"How has a true soul landed themselves here? You look too pathetic for our majesty." The drow woman sneers in disgust. You know... the amount of woman hating on you was getting a bit disturbing.

"A true.. soul?" You spoke hoarsley. Throat parched from all the fire, along with being passed out here for gods know how long..

"Oh you are such an imbecile asswell. It does no good to have a putulent child as a true soul... I ought to end your suffering myself." The woman growled. Wow, just when you were about to say she had the same hairstyle as your mom-

Wow!- a sword next to your head. Yikes!

The drow still glared. Not yet having sliced your head in two due to a sound further down the beach. Sandy footsteps coming closer.

With a scowl she retreated into the wreckage of the nautiloid. Hiding from whoever was walking this way. You sat up with a groan in response. Holding your thumping head.It was no other then Shadowheart that found you. Somewhat looking relieved to see a familiar face, yet that annoyance still persisted.

"You've made it. Good. You're a bit too young to die." The black haired half-elf spoke and pulled you up.

"You almost make it sound like you care.." You cough out some dust after your teasing remark.

"Well we survived together. I'll take it as a sign that we better stick together." Shadowheart sigh and crosses her arms over her plated chest. You wonder how her eyeshadow hasn't melted off.

"You think Lae'zel made it too?" You ask a bit hesitantly, not wanting to get a death glare again.

"Im sure she did, gith are ruthless." Shadowheart scoffs and leads you further from your place on the beach. Moving on to a forest, wich you really didn't mind. You've basically been raised in the woods. Its a wonder that you didn't turn out as a druid.

"Help! A mindflayer, right here! Help me!"

Some pathetic call came from between the wreckage. Well... if you see one then it's too late? No?

Shadowheart seemed to think the same... Wich sucked, because that meant you'd have to be the better person here and see.

With a sigh of reluctance you walked towards the voice. Being carefull of the burning wreckage around you.

You ended up on a dune overseeing the beach, looking down you saw the man thats been screaming for help into the sky as if the gods would come get him.

"Are you blind? There's not even a tentacle in sight!" You yell down at him. You see the white haired elf jump and look up at you and Shadowheart.

"It was right here! I swear, come down and look!" The posh sounding man urges.

"You think were stupid. You're littarly holding a dagger!" You shout back.

"So are you! You irritating child!" The pale elf shouts back. You glare at him and he glares at you.

"So what's your real problem?" You scowl in annoyance.

"... Well fine, I don't know what to do from here, I dont even know how I survived-" The man points at the crash site. "-this."

"Would you like to join our 'we don't know what to do from here and we don't even know how we survived' club?" You grin in amusement. Shadowheart gives you a dissaproving wack on the arm and the man doesn't look happy by your mocking.

Two beats later he sighs. "Fine... untill I find a way back..."

"So what's your name? I'm Y/N and this is... actually I'll let her decide if she wants to tell or not." You nod.

"Shadowheart." The woman growls out in annoyance at your irritating behavior.

"Astarion.." The pale elf nods. Making his way up to you two.

So that made three... or if you found Lae'zel... four.

Before you could even scream for your Githyankee acquaintance, another problem stood in your way.

The very obvious portal with a hand trough it.. yelling 'help! A little help!'.

Well... maybe if it added a please?

"I can sense you there! A little help, please!" Ah.. there was the please.

This hand didn't look cursed... so it should be fine right?

"Let's not? Mhh? Who knows, maybe it's a mindflayer." Astarion advices with some smug purr.

"Well he said please, didn't your mom teach you any manners?" You huff with a roll of your (e/c) eyes. The elf froze at the sentence and Shadowheart just looked annoyed that you were once again helping someone when you didn't have time.

You huff and take the hand. Pulling at it in vain as this portal remains steadfast in holding this person on the other side.

"You can do it, just keep pulling, my friend."

The male voice called out. You set your feet properly into the dirt around you and pull with your while back put into it. As the mans purple sleeve shows due to you pulling him out, you decide to grab that instead, making your way down his arm.

Shadowheart can't seem to look at your struggle anymore and helps tug.

Together the bearded man comes crashing out of the portal.

He stands up and dusts his robes off.

"Hello, I'm Gale of Waterdeep, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance- Why are you a child?" The man stops his speech to once again asses that you are in fact a kid. Well, you prefer teen, as the number ten isn't in the didgits of your age for nothing. But sure yea, let's all keep bullying the kid.

"Well one day I was born, and from there on I began to age-" You start snidely. The man- Gale, stops you from your useless banter.

"I know how aging works... But why are you involved with... this all?" He asks in concern.

"Oh so you're genuinely a minor? I just assumed you were on the short side." Astarion notes randomly. Putting a hand over his heart as a theatric pose.

"I'm here because I also got abducted by mindflayers, there's nothing more to it. Do you want to join us in in walking around aimlessly or do we stick you back trough the portal?" You look up at Gale with a raised brow.

"Right, walking around aimlessly it is..." The bearded man sighs and takes your hand. Whatever his reasons, he seems the most startled by seeing a minor waltz around all this mindflayer stuff.

Your aquired band of misfits manage to locate Lae'zel, who had just broken out of a cage. Not looking too happy too see the growing group.

After a round of names and insults, she informed everyone... well... really just you because somehow everyone else seemed to know it all already, that you've all been infected by mindflayer tadpoles. Yuck, the last thing you wanted was tentacles on your face, what would your mother think!

Gale reassured you that that wouldn't happen and that- just like Lae'zel said- we were going to find a cure..

Or try. Whatever came first. Really.

So you set foot into the forest, hoping to find a hint of civilization to find the nearest healer. Lae'zel had been captured by patrolling thieflings.. so there must be something around here.

And you were all right. You had ended up at the emerald grove. Quickly getting pulled into their problems with the local druids and the refugees... Some Halsin guy was missing, apparently he was very important.. And he was in some goblin camp... full of goblin cultists? You were really glad Gale was writing this down because your attention span didn't make it trough this.

Wandering around the Emerald Grove had landed you an audience with the resident folk hero, the Blade of Frontiers! Wich was actually the coolest thing up ti'll now. Your mother used to tell you stories of what this man did at your age, saving a village from evil cultists, his many good deeds.

The legends true name was Wyll... wich was cool too. The darker skinned human quickly offered your group to take you over, so they could continue their journey without the worry of a teen. You were surpised when Shadowheart protested. Astarion didn't seem glad with the possibility of your absence either.

You were confused, Lae'zel was confused and Wyll himself was probably the most baffled.

He seemed to just assume you must be someones family here and offered to come with if you helped him find a demon he had to slaughter.

Yea ok, seems fair. Anything for the Blade of Frontiers.

Events went faster now, you had a bigger group, they were all quite choatic, not matching eachothers morals or ways.

Astarion was teaching you the art of pickpocketing while you all explored the grove for more information on the lost druid Halsin.

Gale was discouraging you from listening to the elf. Trying to teach you new spells instead, even trough his annoyance of your sorcerer ways. How could you learn magic without a book! What do you mean you just accidently set your treehouse on fire when you were four?!

Wyll seemed to find you quite amusing, seeing you snark back at these intimidating adults (Lae'zel) and observing how a child from a city outside of Baldurs Gate dealt with all the information.

Shadowheart and Lae'zel were still going about their mutual hatred. Why them two?

Goth vs frog, the neverending battle.

No matter, however. As you all found this 'demon' Wyll was after. Turned out its some nice thiefling named Karlach.

The votes on what to do were varying. Wyll didn't want to kill a non hell-being.Lae'zel told him just to get the pact over with, same for Astarion.Gale and Shadowheart were for the cancelation of this execution. Both for very diffrent reasons.

But due to Wyll being as good as you imagined him, he didn't kill the woman. Great, since she's the first one that had a positive reaction to meeting you.

Karlach saw her more carefree years in you... Just some dumb kid fighting things and messing with ploys that didn't concern you.

Thats how it all started... Karlach. The barbarian had begun the urges in your group to not let this kid they got saddled up with to get corrupted.

Everything's so bad already. They can save one thing, no?

Your first night camping with the bunch was quite fun. You helped Gale with cooking, your mother taught you well after all. The wizard was shocked as he hadn't expected a child out of everyone here to be the only one to help.

Fine enough, you made dinner.

And love goes trough the stomach, or so the saying goes. With a hoard of hungry stomachs fed, the appreciation towards 'random kid were stuck with' really picked up.

You wouldn't make it long without them getting attached. Too bad you tought you were going on a fun adventure. This isn't just some fun little thing...

was watching the 98 anime again and i noticed in a scene vash says he likes these salmon sandwiches and it got me thinking on how he even has those

like, does gunsmoke even HAVE fish? what kind? there cant be many given theres hardly any natural water sources and why is it salmon? thats an earth animal, did the first humans find the fish and just name them after earth ones like how the cities are after months?

they surely cant have salmon the same way we do, its a whole other planet and a desert one as well, salmon are cold water fish and gunsmoke isnt exactly known for its cold landscape, im sure some places are cooler than others but still

as far as i know there wasnt any animals brought with the SEEDS ship so i dont think they could have brought fish from earth, and even if they did they probs wouldn't have lasted this long, yeah animals adapt and evolve but in 159 years???? from going from being a cold water fish to surviving a desert plannet for over a century???

theyre probs native fish just called salmon but that gets me thinking about how fucked up their biology must be compared to earth fish

•they dont argue much, even if they do its not BAD, at most they dont talk to each other for a few minutes but they stick around n stay right by each other

The thing about watching a show like Scavengers Reign is the inevitable question of how well I would fare in a similar scenario. The usual answer, Id probably not survive a week.

Except if I was in a pod on the ship, or Id landed like Azi with supplies that happened to include plenty of necessary medication and such. Id like that kind of story. Someone who thinks ahead for emergencies or grabs the right box on the way out. Because we're not all chemists or mechanics or programming whizzes, yknow? Its a fun power fantasy, the disabled person with all the skills to manage on their own. Some people could manage. I do have a friend who genuinely knows everything there is to know about wheelchairs, those people do exist, theyre just not most of us. Most of us dont survive apocalyptic scenarios or even sufficiently distant time travel.

Which is also why any political grand revolution you come up with has to include us. No abrupt cutting off of the supply chain, no pandemonium in the streets because if you have to leave all the disabled people to die then your revolution isnt worth shit.

I think those are stories worth telling, of how disabled people do manage in catastrophes and not as a side character to show how generous someone else is and not as a total genius of exactly their disability. Like of course we're interested and that helps but that doesnt mean we can be isekai'd back to 1200 and come up with penicillin, yknow? Or immunosupressants or heart medication or insulin.

There is, whats her name, Raven, from The 100? She injures her leg fairly early on. I cant really think of many others. Do reccomend me any you think of.

(Also a superpower that makes the disability not disabling doesnt really count either. If they bust their spine and five minutes later have a full replacement tech body that they never think about and is always fully functional *mcu war machine* that also doesnt count. The aesthetic prosthetic limb only counts if the character is still disabled - Ill count Yang from RWBY because she actually has a whole season to process and she can lose the arm and it does cause trouble. If someone w experience of prosthetics wants to disagree w me thats fine.

Which reminds me of Alita Battle Angel, which I found so bizarre, in a culture of treating people as walking parts, the guy gives his daughter priceless porcelain. Like. Did you not think people would kill her for it?? Anyway this has been a fun tangent.)

Mm and Id also like to see space travel where, like with scavengers reign they can breathe the air, but not perfectly. Like maybe theres not quite enough oxygen so everyones always a little dizzy and a little not quite thinking clearly. Totally surviveable biologically but everyones just a little disabled. Or gravity is stronger and long term bad for their bones, or much lighter and if they get back to somewhere safe they srruggle to readjust. People born on colony worlds adapted for generations to their specific conditions getting on a spaceship, spaceship politics about what temperature and gravity is standard (oooh the uh. Wayfarers by Becky Chambers does cool shit with this actually, with various aliens rather than humanoids but still super fun. Theres this one species that doesnt breathe oxygen at all and they need spacesuits to be around everyone else. Dont remember what they do breathe. Very space-Jews, love them). I get why youd choose for your setting to have breathable air, thats a difficult resource, its just at the edge of believability for me.

Edit: theres also Jeeter with lung issues from starship iris, a canon space Jew :D. And I think one of them was on antidepressants? Such a good show. Podcast.

I'm not a "ship" person whatsoever but I do scroll character tags on occasion and see quite a bit of Vox and Vel together as well as what seems to be a lot of what I'm assuming is female original character stuff. I've even seen some Charlie and Vox too. So it's out there, but unless you're scrolling through character tags I can see how it might be hard to find. Personally, I also block/filter a lot of the big "ship" tags so maybe that also makes it easier for me to stumble across this stuff that "slips" through since I don't know if those pairings have names.

I get your point though. I do think many are inclined to erase his bisexuality when it's convenient. Interestingly, they also erase Valentino's pansexuality too. The same with Husk as well, but I check his tag a lot less so who knows.

What disappoints me, and I know I'm about to come off as nit-picky right now lol, is the lack of research people put into their "sexuality" headcanons for the characters with reference to their different eras. When reading some of them, you'd think the idea of "gay rights" was a completely new and foreign topic that only emerged after the early 2000s. I get people want to go for the simplistic "repressed and doesn't know what being [insert identity here] is" for some of the older characters but that completely ignores a fascinating and rich tapestry of queer history that could create far more interesting (and still accurate) stories for the characters/their backgrounds. I would really encourage those who haven't already or are generally unfamiliar to dive into this history as it might inspire their character ideas while also educate them on the work, art, and activism our queer elders have contributed to the community we have today.

I think this may partially relate to character ages being under explored as well. While I've seen debate on what is canon/has been decanonized many of these characters, as far as we know, died in their late 30s and beyond. That's a lot of life to live and experience. While certainly many people throughout history (and even today) kept their sexuality hidden from the public due to culture, shame, and safety that doesn't mean there weren't many incredible private venues/spaces that could be utilized to explore those feelings/identities in secret.

I could go on and on about this but I've totally strayed from your original point (I'm sorry!) and I'm very tired haha. I just think there are multiple factors coming into play here with these character interpretations and, for me, the biggest missed opportunity is the lack of historical research. But end of the day people should have their fun! Just an observation.

Completely agree with this! I doubt my response will be as long since I just woke up but other characters doing certain things or not knowing about sexualities is interesting, it just seems like a lot of people think older people don’t want to explore any of that like it only just happened recently as you said. I like to joke about Angel being shocked about gay marriage and not knowing a bunch of current terms but thats about it. With him being in the mafia when he was alive makes it much more interesting as well, I’m pretty sure around his time the mafia was blackmailing men in gay bars but dont quote me on that I might be wrong.

Anyway for Husk and Valentino pan erasure I see that a bunch too. Not exactly erasure but just… ignoring it? Moreso erasure on Valentino’s end because Ive seen people get mad at people for shipping Valentino with a woman and was like “hes gay dont do that” no he isnt. Also dont ship Valentino with anyone for the love of god. But like people are super used to just making up headcanons that they dont bother to look up actual canon stuff. I know Hazbin isn’t the best but if you want canonically LGBTQ+ characters use what you have and add on later. Or headcanon a background character, thats what I did with Molly.

All Kagehina “proof” I know of

Ok i wasnt gonna post this but ive been told by a friend to explain why some might ship Kagehina so... try me. i dont exactly ship this myself but lets just say im a pro when it comes to this topic also it's not as bad as i thought it was there are worse ships idk why i was a hater also i lowkey got some of this from shipping wiki but most of it i knew already, plus NOT ALL OF THIS IS NECESSARILY REFERENCES TO THE SHIP it kinda just adds on to it anyways lets just get into it

ok so starting with common knowledge i think everyone knows that Hinata is the protagonist followed with Kageyama being the deuteragonist, they get the most screen time together and are pretty much paired MOST of the series, we get a lot of content with them together while also getting content of them on their own, they're known as the "freak duo," the "greatest teammates" and like 100 other names they've been called I've seen a lot of people intemperate their relationship wrong, I've seen a few say Kageyama was downright "abusive" to Hinata which I think is a little farfetched, but to each their own! They genuinely do care for each other and it shows, even at the end of the manga you can tell how far their relationship has come, even if they consider themselves rivals, they are without a doubt still friends Now a lot of people have said "well they're not gay they're just friends", while this is true, it has been referenced/implied officially in many places, including manga panels and english dubs, so while it isn't canon there is a few cute things about it which we know are official which is why I'm sharing this, I myself know it isn't canon, plus I didn't really make this to prove anything it was kinda for fun sorry if that made little to no sense but I'll start getting into more interesting stuff 1. at the tip of the iceberg we have the fact they're in so much official art together

Shōsetsuban!! apparently there's a part where Hinata daydreams about him and Kageyama eating under cherry blossom trees i just found that cute AS MUCH AS I WANNA SHOW YOU GUYS I LITERALLY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING OF THIS LIGHT NOVEL ANYWHERE i just know it's real, if I ever get my hands on it which I doubt, I'll share proof it exists btw AND THIS IS REALLY RANDOM AND SOMEONE WANTED ME TO INCLUDE THIS BUT 9. Thinking about infinite and Mephiles in a they can see through the 4th wall very far in a meta sense kinda way again and infinite 100% hates himself after forces. Especially if he knows he’s actively being mocked over stupid things like a non canon fight or a corny line he said once.

Like whatever self hype he had for himself died the moment Sonic came back along with another version of himself and that one guy he actively could not kill for done reason.

He knows damn well he’s an idiot for leaving Sonic alive but after forces he knows damn well 90% of the other villain have done the same and yet he’s the exception cause he was too edgy.

He 100% hates seeing ship art of him and gadget as a couple especially considering that Mobian was more a gnat that kept messing up every step of the way,

He hates everyone that mocks him for being in the “meta era” whatever that means and he hates being mocked for exsisting. He had one chance to make him proud of himself and honor his fallen teammates, and be cool as a bonus, and immediately became the butt of the joke unceremoniously.

On the opposite side of the coin we have Mephiles who’s more remembered for being named after a state or city and Fortnite (no hate to the dubs i just have this gut feeling you mention Tennessee he will kill you) rather than his role in throwing reality to hell in 06.

The worst part is he has been trapped in goddamn limbo for a nearly 2 decades and knows that one half of him is in another dimension entirely, the shell of his true self (this is a theory btw) became the time eater, and he’s been trapped in the thing ever since his timeline was erased.

And the worst part is everyone is glad he’s gone even if they don’t remember him. Shadow didn’t recognize him and not only kicked his ass within 2 minutes, he also knew exactly how to mock him, at this point he probably doesn’t even wanna destroy anything he just wants to leave this hell and exist again only for him to be permanently condemned until hopefully maybe 06 gets remade from the ground up and that’s a big if since we know how Sonic Team feels about half the shit in 06 that isnt Mephiles

What I’m building up to is that these two would be the perfect duo because they would be the only ones to truly understand each other: the mockery, the parody’s, the outright ignorance of their debut existences. Infinite and Mephiles remind me of Goku black and Zamasu but instead of it being like “we have the same goal and vibe” it’s more “you are the only one who can understand and respect me”

Both lost their other parts, their minds, even their chance to exist.

It would be foolish not to try and make this team up work, to make themselves known in the best light of the present, rather than the black light of the past.

Or they would hate each other on sight cause ego or sumthin I dunno with how everyone perceives these two

LOLLLL yeah ranking is my favourite thing ever ever ever ever ever ever its so fun okay (this is kinda long sorry hahaha) :

winter - this probably isnt a shocker, bc well ^^^ my url😭 literally what does this book NOT have. its 800+ pages, it contains so many perspectives, every single ship, every character dynamic is fully formed, the plot is insane and weaves together so well, the drama, the luna visuals, JACINTER, MISS WINTER HAYLE BLACKBURN.... like......... name a better book.... exactly. winter > everything. this is my go to book to reread and i think that its actually etched into the grooves of my brain. i have 2 copies of this book and they are my prized possessions

fairest - okay this ranking might be controversial, and i hate levana as much as everyone else does(just a disclaimer lol). but I LOVEEEE a character study, specially when said character is a villain. i read fairest after i'd completed all of the main 4 books and it just added so many more layers to the lunar characters (winter, levana, jacin etc), and also introduces us to evret, who is talked about in the main series but as we know he dies before the events of tlc :( but i loved his character and i found this book so interesting, also as a winter girl it was cool to see her parents, and her as a baby / toddler,, and also the og trio winter, jacin and selene / cinder own my WHOLE soul bc they are soooo <33333333333333 this book actually breaks my heart soo bad every time but i still crave rereading it bc its so good

cinder - ahhh when everything was somewhat simple, i like rereading this one to just go back to square one and like. reminisce on how everything begun and look at all of the seeds marissa planted (like that brief mention of winter and the descriptions of jacin aka the blond guard or whatever it was they described him as) . and i just love the kaider of it all of course and idk this one is just so nostalgic to me

scarlet - something about this book just keeps me on edge every time i read it. i literally cannot put it down once i start it and even though i know all of the plot twists and everything now im just constantly hooked. i love the visuals of this book, with the farm in rieux, and futuristic paris, and the fight in the abandoned opera house, soo cool. also i love how well this book in particular ties into little red riding hood because every single time i read the part about michelle actually being ran under glamour, aka the wolf disguised as the grandma like in the og fairytale, i am GAGGED its such a cool way to tie it into the lore of this series. annndddd i feel like i do talk about scarlet on here a lot because of winlet but i do NOT talk about wolf enough so let me just say something: wolf is such an interesting and complex character andi loveeee him and i love how much his personality varies from babygirl to actual killer hahhah

cress - i love this book to death BUTT i feel like some of the desert chapters kinda did drag on a little, especially as ive read this book so many times they're the scenes i tend to skim through (and this was true even BEFORE i became a cresswell hater tbh), but other than that this book is 10/10, i love the farafrah chapters especially, and i loved watching jacin be annoying and also i loved watching the rampion crew start to fill out and become bigger, ALSO this book has that iconic miscommunication scene where thorne and cress reunite with the others but thorne is blind so he didnt know that 'the wolf' cress was talking about was just our wolf (ze'ev) and the chaos of all that and cinder and dr erland and them almost getting arrested and escaping on the rampion / iko was pure chaos ALSOOOO this book had the technical introduction of winter bc you hear her adopting scarlet to save her which is fun so yeah !!! if they took out the cresswell of it all this book would be higher bc theres so much to love (and i mean this literally, this book is SO LONG)

stars above - this feels weird to rank because it isnt one full book, its a set of short stories, and the reason why its down here is because the only ones i consistently go back to are something old something new and the princess and the guard, if those two were full books they would probably be in the number 2 or 3 spot tbh (specially princess and the guard), but the thing is with stars above is that theres just a little too much filler for me,, like thornes chapter is pointless and is not interesting at all, and the little andriod actually is really sweet but i wouldve happily sacrificed that and thornes chapter to get more content with the other short stories, as i feel like they had a lot more to say (i do love cinders cameo in the little andriod tho)

but the most offensive thing abt it writing wise is like in season 4 when they duel against trueman sorry it was fujiwara. okay i was rewatching gx ages ago and my ex was watching it with me and it was her first time seeing it and shes a literature major and when the whole. "what is the darkness in johan's heart" scene, AFTER IT WAS ESTABLISHED EVERYONE, EVERY STUDENT INCLUDING MANJOUME SHO ASUKA O'BRIEN ETCETC has darkness in their hearts,

my ex goes "if they reveal that he has no darkness in his heart because hes such a special boy im going to be so fucking mad because hes already a mary sue" (HER WORDS NOT MINE she was so mad about johan its funny.) AND THEN THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY DO

like he is literally too perfect. his only flaw is his one (1) time thing about getting lost which is never really brought up again (also its more of an endearing haha funny thing and yes i like it i have a shirt referencing that scene.) and the fact that.. he gets taken over i guess.

i do think the switch around where they bamboozle fujiwara is really funny. it is a funny scene i just wish they literally didn't do it at the cost of "johan is a perfect person without any mental weaknesses when literally every single other character has some flaws" I DONT GET IT!!!

My "The Nun" head canons because im desperate

Because I still haven't moved on with the maurine (yes I made them a ship name) ship these are my head canons a.k.a tweaks to the movie to make them get together🥲

In the first movie:

☆ Irene is not a nun, but only a helper or has connections with the church.

☆ She was only called because the church knew that of her visions.

☆ During this time, Irene was wondering if she would start becoming a nun since the other sisters at the convent where she was staying we're trying to convince her to be one.

☆ When Irene and Father Burke met, Irene told him what I wrote above, so when they went to Maurice's house to ask about the abbey, Burke lied to Maurice to back off because "Irene is a nun"

☆ Irene still took vows from Burke when they were about to fight the final boss/fight, but since it wasn't official and Burke was the only one with a position in the church that was there during that moment it doesnt count!! (Let's just say that when they got back, the church didn't allow it ;) )

☆ Since Irene isnt a nun here, the "Thank you for saving my life, Maurice" SCENE IS MORE IMPACTFUL

☆ In the last scene, Irene revealed to Maurice that she really wasn't a nun but she was just planning to🤣

Second movie:

☆ Okay so when Valak was there in the climax scene in the first movie, they actually didn't possess maurice!

So how did they go to boarding school?

Valak still has another portal but is inactive, which made it's barriers there weak, but since their main portal was closed in the first movie, Valak then went to that other inactive portal. There, one after another, Valak possessed innocent people, (after Valak posseses another person, their last vessel dies kind of thing) so the scene where the church noticed that people were dying left and right in the churches still happens, up until Valak makes their way to the boarding school where the eye of saint lucy is placed!

☆ So who gets possessed in part 2?

ITS THE TEACHER MWAHAHAHA (I kinda have beef with her character smh, but I think it's kinda appropriate that she gets possessed, im not quite sure how that happens but take it as it is! This is my head canon😭)

☆ Since it was the teacher who was possessed, she manipulates Maurice not to interfere with what Valak is trying to do BY SHOWING THAT SHE WAS KIND AND DEFINATELY NOT POSSESSED so that Maurice would not be suspicious of her, so expect some back and fourth scenes with the four characters in the movie.

☆ During the train flashback scene, SINCE IRENE DIDN'T BECOME A NUN, THERE IS MORE TENSION BECAUSE THEY BOTH ARE HAVING REGRETS FOR LEAVING SINCE THERE HAS BEEN SPARKS BUILDING UP BETWEEN THEM THAT ITS OBVIOUS ENOUGH THAT THEY BOTH THINK THAT THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING THERE BUT DID NOT PERSUE EACH OTHER because Maurice was leaving and went to look for a job far from the church since he still is traumatized 🤩😭😭😭

☆ After that Maurice went looking for a new job and found it at the boarding school and the rest of the movie happens exactly the same.

☆ At the end of the movie, THE TEACHER DIES SO THERE'S NO ONE TO GET POSSESSED BY VALAK AGAIN AFTER A WHILE

(okay maybe I do have beef with her character.. ONLY because, if you really think about it, if the teacher wasnt there, and it was only sophie who was with maurice, THERE LITERALLY IS LITTLE TO NO DIFFERENCE WITH THE MOVIE)

☆ BUT— Maurice would still almost die and the thank you for saving my life scene happens AGAIN BUT MUCH MORE IMPACTFUL BECAUSE THERE IS A KISS AT THE END YESS!!!!! SWEET VICTORY!!!!!! WOHOOO THE SHIP HAS SAILED!!! After Irene kissed Maurice, maybe frenchie would even say "You even cut your hair after I left" (because yes, when i saw that irene had short hair for the movie, i immediately thought that she was broken hearted after they parted ways Hshshsh🫠) and Irene just laughes at him AND THE MOVIE ENDS HAPPLY EVER AFTER!!!!

awww thank you !! im really glad you do!! their name is 3 but spelt in a funny way, im not exactly sure yet. i wanted it to be clever but my brain hasnt been able to put much power into it. it's boredom time, so i thought i'd make the rare personal thoughts on fairies write some propaganda for some of my rarepairs, especially the one i named this blog after lol

iridessa/fira (firadessa)

most people think it's self explained, these two are light fairies

however, these two have similar and yet slightly different personalities (to me at least. if you ever say fira and iridessa are basically the same character, or that fira's character traits are too vague from what we have on her its on sight)

fira is a character that is anxious like iridessa, but its implied at same time she is a bubbly character where iridessa is more mellow, fira can also be mellow sure but has a sunnier vibe

its slightly canon that fira over worries, iridessa also does this but her worries are more logical (fira thought the eclipse made the sun disappear, where dessa worries about things that are possible)

ive shipped this since 2021 when making my own blog (this one) but i think them <3 so you will too

rarepair but NOT a crackship because it makes logical sense as a ship, despite the few interactions they have in canon due to the book characters sometimes not being included in the "main canon" sometimes and not some other times. iridessa was also introduced in the books first, wearing a blue and yellow number similar to firas, and fira and iridessa have been written in books coexisting in universes leaning more book or leaning more movie (maybe) so its not exactly a book/movie ship, but it isnt exactly not a book/movie ship

canon to the book "iridessa and the secret of the never mine" (a book that never released in the us and is buried as a pdf so ill make sure to make it more accessible to everyone) that these two wont stop talking to eachother, to the annoyance of others. they start talking in the mine and they are told to stop and they are like "we'll pick this up at dinner" so precious

hc- iridessa is more likely to get angry that fira

i believe the first time it was that vidia felt sympathy, when they cut off rani's wings. and that she actually has a soft spot for rani, even though she has a superiority complex. vidia was intended to be a "wicked" or bad fairy, so i think her having some faith in others- maybe even a small amount, gives her a lot of complexity. she took pity on rani, even knowing rani could never fly as fast as she did

there is evidence to support her having a soft side and to her getting along with rani, when she snowboards and is greatful for the snow day. the second is in a comic on her with a scavenger hunt, and they actually work together

oh my god i made that post about sarah from labyrinth and neil from dps and in the tags joked about them being siblings but now im thinking about it seriously……… guys hold on

neil and sarah being siblings with them both having a thing for acting and being rlly rlly close until neil is shipped off to welton

their dad (mr perry evil evil evil) is very strict but is harsher to neil bc he expects more from him and neil Knows That and uses that to keep mr perrys anger away from sarah

neil told sarah about the play and she was rlly happy for him and promised him that she wouldnt tell anyone . when mr perry found out he pressed her to know if she already but she stood her ground and said she didnt know

charlie knew her for a long time (being neils best friend and all) and loved her like a sister (hed never tell neil but she was his favourite perry sibling. if neil knew hed get Jealous (not really) that his sister was stealing his friends). sarah found him really funny

neil was the one to gift her the labyrinth book as a birthday gift and she got him a shakespeare anthology for his

sarah went to see his play and sat with the poets (that was the first time she met todd, immediately liked him because she knew how much he meant to neil. they had a really nice chat). she was clapping the loudest out of everyone (except for maybe charlie)

when mr perry saw she was there he was even angrier. when the four perrys sat down to talk in the study neil made sure mr perrys rage was directed at him since she had no fault in anything. sarah tried to defend neil when mr perry told them he’d pull neil out of welton but neither of them managed to talk him down.

sarah tried to stay with neil in the study after the conversation but their mother made her leave him alone, thinking that’s what he’d want

she was the first person to hear the gunshot and the first to get to the study (she knew exactly what had happened)

sarah tried to get her parents to drop the blame from keating but they didnt listen. she found out charlie was expelled and was enraged.

after the divorce her dad remarried, and they had toby -> enter labyrinth storyline

she was so angry to move into a new house and have a new sibling because of neil. she wasn’t supposed to be the eldest sibling. her brother wasn’t supposed to be younger than her. he wasn’t supposed to be blond, and his name was supposed to be neil, not toby.

she was so attached to the labyrinth book because it was a gift from him. she wished toby away partly because she wanted her older brother back.

enter the goblin king.

he’d probably know part of sarah’s wishing away of toby has to do with neil, and he’d definitely use it to manipulate her in the labyrinth.

maybe shed even see a bit of puck in jareth and be torn

after rescuing toby she would be a bit more ok with being a big sister, and know that even tho she lost neil toby isnt a replacement, and she would tell him all sorts of stories about their brother
