in a perfect world, in act two glinda and elphaba would sing a what is this feeling? reprise with the exact same lyrics where they realise their feelings for each other and then fiyero would sing i'm not that girl (reprise)

I sincerely liked the inclusion of Glinda in the classroom scene with the lion because in the musical post-Popular she’s just not there when the lion cub is in the cage and Elphaba puts the class to sleep to save him with Fiyero but in the movie, Glinda is there, and she is put to sleep with the rest of the class while Fiyero isn’t, and it’s such a small but very significant detail of the progression of each character’s arc (Fiyero and Glinda) and how much Elphaba trusts them with. Seeing Glinda wake up alone was a gut punch, even if you understand why Elphaba didn’t trust her yet, even if it was an instinct on Elphaba’s part to exclude her, and it’s really cruel foreshadowing for the end of Act 2, when Elphaba and Fiyero once again leave Glinda behind and out of the loop with the truth of Elphaba being alive—and it enhances the tragedy because this time, at the end, Glinda’s character arc is complete and she should arguably be entrusted with that secret, but the seeds have already been planted so long ago, and now it’s too late

A detail I love that didn't really come across in the movie is in the last verse of Defying Gravity - specifically, in who it's directed to
The verse comes immediately after Elphaba askknh Glinda to join her, her rejecting it, and then them both saying "I hope you're happy, my friend"
SO
WHEN E SAYS "AND SO IF YOU CARE TO FIND ME"
SHE'S STILL TALKING TO GLINDA!!!! It's DIRECTIONS for if she changes her mind, as much as it is a threat to the others.
"Everyone deserves a chance to fly" - she's saying she'll always give Glinda another chance!! That she can join Elphaba on her broomstick!!
Then on "to those who'd ground me" she's CHANGING who she's addressing. It all makes sense. But the cinematography just made it seem like she was talking to everyone, imo, and that was a bit disappointing

sorry but having strains of "For Good" sprinkled throughout the soundtrack, particularly during Elphie and Glinda's most important moments - essentially having it be their Theme - was a stroke of genius and definitely didn't rip my heart out every time I heard that little motif
