The reason Epic: The Musical is such a good adaptation in my eyes is because it’s ORAL it’s SONG AND VERSE and the Iliad and the Odyssey were RHAPSODE !!!! THEY WERE ORAL TRADITION!!!!

IT IS DIFFERENT THAN THE WRITTEN VERSE BECAUSE ITS OUR BARD JORGE’S INTERPRETATION AND HE IS OUR RHAPSODIST!!!!

WE ARE SINGING THESE CHARACTERS AND STORIES TO LIFE WE ARE HAVING THEM SPOKEN TO US BY BARDS AND A STORYTELLER AND WHILE ITS A MODERN TAKE ON AN ORAL RETELLING TURNED LITERATURE WE ARE STILL SPEAKING IT INTO EXISTENCE TO EACH OTHER!!!!!

^ this one makes me think about that post on here abt how orpheus always has eurydice in front of him. BECAUSE… that’s also true for the journey into hadestown!!! eurydice goes first and orpheus follows her. eurydice is in front, orpheus is behind her. and when the roles get reversed in doubt comes in he crumbles. 🤯

^ i didn’t screenshot this very well lol the comment i wanted to focus on (which is also what’s pictured in the video itself) is the one at the bottom abt eurydice leaning on the workers like the table (though the top one is good / funny / accurate too). i noticed the table but not the worker lean and it’s making me 🤯

absolutely despise how every single social media platform has intrusive annoying “performance” shit baked into it now. You can’t just be online to post for fun, talk to friends, share stuff to whoever happens upon it.

Everything has a score now. Notifications that say “your post reached 1000 accounts” on insta. View counts on every tweet, so you know exactly how relevant or irrelevant your every thought or drawing is. Every app asking you over and over to turn push notifications on. 1 to 10 self-ratings on YouTube. Get twitter blue for a performance boost. give tumblr your money for a Blaze. Get an Instagram business account. Buy views. Constant scoring. Constant reminders to monetize your every waking moment.

had a dream last night they made it legal to smoke inside public places again and suddenly all my coworkers took up smoking because they could. the problem is that i work at a daycare, so I was standing there like "idk man, i don't think we should smoke around the kids." and they were all like "it's fine. it's legal, now. besides why do you care? you were already a smoker. I thought you of all people would be happy about this." and I'm like "yeah, I smoke but I don't smoke around kids because it's bad for them." and they're like "they'll be fine. my parents smoked when i was a kid and i turned out all right." and like for the life of me, I could not remember WHY smoking around kids was bad for them, so I was just stuck there holding a baby and a cigarette in this smoke-filled 1950's ass daycare with this vague and ominous feeling. anyway, I still can't shake the feeling that it was supposed to be a metaphor for something.
