Hello i am new to fandom and while trying to catch up on content I found out about shipping and also found out that Taekook and Jikook are the biggest ships in BTS but didn't Taehyung have a girlfriend? I asked someone about it and was told that it was media play set up by the company to promote Jennie's new show. i sent an ask to a taekook blog about it but their answers made no sense to me so I wanted to get things from another perspective. Do you think it was media play?

Taenni being media play or a PR relationship is one of the dumbest arguments I have ever heard from the cult and trust me, i’ve heard many.

One thing you need to know about taekookers is that they are gifted at blaming third parties when Tae or Jungkook do anything that debunks that nonexistent romance they are willing to kill for. Tae and Jk say they grew distant/awkward, the cult blames the company. Tae is seen on a romantic walk with his girlfriend in Paris, the company gets blamed. Jk says he doesn’t see Tae on his birthdays the company gets blamed. They have created a win-win situation for themselves where anytime taekook do or say anything that doesn’t go in line with what they want to believe they blame the company or Jimin but when taekook do or say something they like they carry on as if they didn’t juat claim that the company was trying to shove Jikook down people’s necks while trying to hide taekook.

Any taekooker who continues claiming that taennie was mediaplay or a PR relationship just doesn’t want to accept the truth. Listen, I would have understood where these people were coming from if we had never heard or seen anything about tae and Jennie yet jusy got hit with them strolling together in Paris but since 2021, we’ve been getting little bits of information about them.

It started with Tae “accidentally” following Jennie on Instagram. Then we got leaked intimate photos of them and while I do agree that some of those pictures might have been photoshopped, not all were. Those pictures of them in Jeju were real af unless someone wants to explain to me what magic Gurumi had to put Tae in a pair of pants we had never seen him in before and only saw him in months after those pics leaked? Or the scar on his leg, Jennie’s clothing or, or the fact that none of them ever denied those photos? Didn’t YG put out a statement threatening to sue gurumi for invasion of privacy which indirectly meant that the pictures were real? If those photos were photoshopped then why would they be trying to sue the hacker for invading Jennie’s privacy? Also why was Taehyung quiet? Tkkrs claim that Tae is a no nonsense kind of person and someone who likes to sue so how come he sat quiet about it?

The walk in Paris is the one that annoys me the most because Taekookers have done everything in their power to spin things around. Before Jennie posted those pics on her instagram which proved that it was her in Paris, tkkrs claimed they were cosplayers. After that, they claimed it was media play but I am yet to see anyone tell me what those two benefitted from the media play. All they both got was an insane amount of hate, especially Jennie plus kpop entertainment isn’t Hollywood. It isn’t kpop’s idols style to fake romantic relationships to drum up publicity because kpop idols habe always built parasocial relationships with their fans.

These companies are very aware that most of these fans imagine themselves with these idols and that is what keeps them fans of the idols. They are also very aware of ships in kpop and guess what the biggest ship in kpop is, TAEKOOK. Jenlisa is also the biggest ship in Blackpink so which companies are dumb enough to piss off these many people in the name of some publicity? This would be a very stupid thing to do and if they really wanted to so media play to gain the media’s attention why didn’t they use a bigger or more famous paparazzi? Why was it some unknown, local paparazzi from Paris who didn’t even capture the footage with his camera but instead gave us some microwave quality footage?

How do they explain the fact that tae’s and Jennie’s friends run in the same circles? There’s just so much that proves that taennie was/is a real relationship but trust taekookers to always find a way to make themselves more delusional.

Some of them are convinced that Tae couldn’t be dating Jennie because he didn’t defend her when his fans were hating on her so I wonder how they would look at him when we eventually get more decisive proof that he did date her? Besides, even if it was actually media play no one put a gun to his head and forced him to walk around holding hands with Jennie did they? He did it voluntarily and it would have been an agreement they both had so what kind of a person does that make him if he still sat down and let his fans tear that girl to shreds knowing that they had an agreement and both agreed to do it? They really don’t see how terrible their narratives make Tae look.

One thing that I came to realize is that many of them know the truth. Deep down when they really think about it they know the truth but they want taekook to be real so bad that they fight what they know and continue to believe in the voices in their heads. Some of them are just here to fight with Jikookers so when they feel like they have enough points against the rival ship, they come back from their hiding places to fight and prove how real taekook is. I noticed that many taekookers on here went dormant and some even deleted their accounts around when Jimin and Jungkook enlisted together but when Tae posted those pics of himself and Jk in hawaii, they came back like they never left because they now had some material to fight jkkrs with. If something huge happens again in jikookers’ favor, they would disappear again and reappear again when they feel like they have enough amo. It’s just a useless cycle.

Anyways anon, this shipping thing is like an escape for some people. An escape from reality or the real world and it’s issues and some people who are normally very reasonable get sucked into it so much that they lose any sense of logic. Some people become so emotionally invested to the idea of two strangers having this perfect love story that they cannot bear to part with that belief so they choose to challenge and question the bitter reality instead of the sweet fantasy. I feel like that is where so many taekookers are at (some jikookers too)

Someone once told me that anyone who gets into shipping so much that they find themselves fighting against the truth and reality, only do that because there is some void in them that shipping fills and they cannot bear to part with the fantasy/lie because they don’t want to go feeling empty again and I couldn’t agree more.

Obviously we have Katoph there, if you scroll even a little bit down my blog, you're sure to find something of these two. I just think they're AMAZING!!! With Toph's neutral jing and the mix of positive and negative for Katara, they are literally all or nothing and I'm- I liked how their relationship started out rocky in the beginning but had the chance to grow into a mutual respect and kinship with each other

With the amount of Katoph stuff I do, I bet you're surprised that I LOVE Tophzula. I think their dynamic could be SOOOO interesting. Toph being with the only person in the WORLD who could lie to her and Azula being with one of the few people who could match her in abilities and strength?? Talk about a fucking POWER COUPLE!!!

And Zukkaang, listen LISTEN, this ship is GOOD. I LOVE THIS SHIP!!! I love the idea of Zuko and Sokka getting together first then, after a couple years Aang kinda realizes "oh shit I'm like, madly in love with these two amazing people" and straight up tells them. They'll obviously take some time to process but then they all get together AND GET MARRIED WITH 3 DIFFERENT CEREMONIES FOR EACH OF THEIR CULTURES AND HABE KIDS AND BE HAPPY-

I put Taang in my dislikes because I see Toph and Aang as siblings, like just,,, twins,, I think they have an adorable dynamic as these insanely string children who still like having fun and have a strong appreciation for freedom.

Tokka has similar reasons. I think Toph's crush on Sokka in the series was ADORABLE but I dont ever see it going anywhere. Honestly, I see her growing out of it quickly but Sokka reminding her of it everyday and SOKKA IT'S BEEN 10 YEARS SINCE THEN, PLEASE LET HER LIVE IT DOWN IT'S EMBARRASSING

Sokkla, I just see these two as frenemies who are CONSTANTLY trying to one up each other in ANYTHING, I imagine it's super funny to watch

Dream didn't know when it had become a habit to spend the night in Hob's bedroom. When exactly sweet temptation had wrapped it's delicate fingers around him until he couldn't escape it's grasp any longer; until he slowly slipped into addiction. Because this certainly was addictive.

The first time Dream stepped into Hob's bedroom it was in his human appearance. Hob Gladling was fast asleep underneath his bed sheets, the street lamps that shimmered through the curtains the only source of light.

Dream had often watched humans sleep, curious to see the effects of his dreams while they slept.

It had always served a purpose. Always.

But not now. Dream could admit that much.

One night soon turned into a week and Dream knew it wasn't right to watch Hob sleep. He now could easily describe the way Hob's brow creased when he dreamt of something he didn't like. Or how soft Hob sighed when he dreamt of something pleasant.

Dream sat down on the bed in the 10th night, a curious hand hovering above Hob's face. It would have been so easy to give in and touch him, to caress his cheek. But he wouldn't cross that line.

Dream had wanted to leave then, to get rid of that habit that slowly turned into a problem, but when he felt Hob slipping out of the Dreaming, he shifted his shape back into a cat.

He stood half on top of Hob's chest when tired eyes found him and turned soft around the edges.

"Hey, little friend."

Hob petted him quite clumsily, sleep still deep within his bones.

"You can sleep here, Shadow." Hob's words were slurred but the gesture genuine.

Hob Gadling had bought him a blanket that was always draped over his bed. Soft wool that was warm against his body and difficult to resist.

Dream blinked at him and slowly made his way down the bed until he reached the blanket.

It smelled like him. Everything in here did.

And Dream, for the first time in weeks, allowed himself to rest.

It hadn't been Hob's intention to keep the stray cat.

He worked too long, he always told himself. Though he could grade papers at home and even work on his lectures in the comfort of his own 4 walls.

In truth Hob didn't want to get attached to an animal he would outlive. But now...

Hob had put up flyers in the neighbourhood and even called some vet offices, but no one seemed to be searching for his feline friend. And Hob couldn't bring himself to put him into an animal shelter.

Hob sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. He was standing infront of 10 different cat trees, his cart already filled with pet supplies. He really was going to do this, huh?

He paid for everything and was glad that the cat tree he chose fit into his car just so.

The cat would get proper food now. He even bought soft blankets for his couch and bed for maximum cat-comfort.

The only thing left to choose was a name.

"I'm home!" It had quickly become a habit again to announce his arrival and Hob couldn't say it didn't bring him joy, especially not when his words were met with soft padding noises against his wooden floor.

Most of the time his new roommate didn't show up immediately. Hob had even spent days on which he barely saw the cat at all.

So he more than happily petted the small head and scratched his ear.

The deep green eyes already looked behind Hob, curiously inspecting the purchases from a safe distance.

"I got you something, little friend."

It didn't take long to assemble the cat tree, most of the pieces were already pre-built and Hob now stood proudly infront of it, black cat right next to him.

Hob sat next to him on the floor and big eyes soon found his own.

"Don't look at me like that", he stiffled a laugh. "I don't mind it, really! And it's all for your enrichment."

He accentuated his words by running the tip of his finger along the cat's nose. The cat which for a moment looked like he would love to argue back.

"What should I call you?", Hob wondered aloud.

"Maybe Tom?"

Hob couldn't help but laugh for real this time.

"You are right, you are right! It's too on the nose."

Other names were tried and the cat didn't seem impressed at all.

"How about Shadow? Would you like that?"

And to Hob's surprise the cat seemed to nod.

Maybe Dream had made a mistake. A mistake that could have easily been avoided.

He rarely gave in to urges anymore. Too often they had led him down a path of chaos and disappointment. But as the saying goes: curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.

Which was why he found himself now carried in the arms of Hob Gadling, gentle fingers stroking through his pitch-black fur.

And Dream allowed himself to give in and lean the head of his cat body into the warm palm, that was now only more encouraged to pet him.

A soft laugh left Hob's lips.

"You have really nice fur, little friend. Must have been a bit cold out here though, hmm?"

It didn't take them long to reach Hob's apartment.

The shift in temperature was instantly noticeable for Hob, who audibly sighed and leaned his head back against the door as soon as he closed it.

"Much better here, don't you think?" Hob looked at him as if he expected an answer, as humans tended to do with their pets. Dream just looked at him, head slightly tilted, and that seemed to count as a satisfying answer.

Hob gently placed Dream onto the floor and started to take his shoes and coat off.

Dream patiently waited next to him and was rewarded with a soft scratch behind his ear.

"I should have some tuna for you, just give me a second."

Hob padded into his kitchen and soon Dream could hear the sound of porcelain and cutlery clanking as Hob searched for a spoon and a small bowl.

Dream had followed Hob and jumped onto the kitchen counter.

He had no interest in eating in his current form, it always left him far too animalistic once he shifted back into his human appearance.

Hob offered him another smile as he proudly set the bowl infront of him.

"It's all for you!"

And really, how could Dream resist that smile.

He sniffed at it, the scent of pure tuna almost overwhelming...but good.

"Should I try some first?" The words barely left Hob's mouth before he took a spoonful of tuna and made a show of how he ate it and how good it tasted.

His efforts really were endearing.

Dream straightened a bit before he leaned down and took a few licks. Just a few.

Hob put a bowl of water onto the counter as well and seemed content to lean against it, while he watched Dream, who took a much needed sip.

"I didn't have a pet in a while."

And that was the first time that Dream noticed he had made a mistake. A grave one.

You didn't specify for what story, so I'll be answering this for my ao3 Harry Potter fanfiction. Sorry not sorry, even though this is a D3F blog. I'll try my best to answer the question for D3F too, but I can't make any promises that they'll be good.

This will be a long post, so I'm placing a cut.

1. If you had to create a soundtrack for your story, what songs would you choose? Why?

Okay, das ist meine Lieblingsfrage aus dem gesamten Post, also THANK YOU SO MUCH! Tatsächlich plane ich das innerlich schon ein bisschen mit, während ich schreibe, wenn ich mir Playlists zusammenstelle.

Die Drei ??? - Auxiliary AU: Aus irgendeinem Grund habe ich Jelena schon immer mit Billie Eilish verbunden. Keine Ahnung warum, aber das hat sich einfach in meinem Kopf so festgesetzt, und weil die Geschichte aus Jelenas Perspektive ist, wird also mindestens ein Billie Eilish Song vorkommen. Womöglich ist der erste Song von ihr, an den man bei Jelena denkt "bad guy", oder "you should see me in a crown" oder etwas Ähnliches. Gute Idee, aber nicht ganz. Billie Eilish steht bei mir oft eher für Jelenas emotionale Seite. Also wäre ein Lied im Soundtrack "i love you". Ich glaube, die Titel erklärt den Sinn dahinter schon ganz gut. Andere Lieder wären "Woman" von Kesha, "Brother" von Kodaline und "Chasing Cars" von Snow Patrol. Ein sehr obscures Lied ist das "Whack World Medley" von Citizen Queen. Keine Ahnung wieso, aber die Vibes stimmen irgendwie. Natürlich wären auch ein paar russische Lieder drin. Angemessene Covers von Kalinka könnten sowohl als Hintergrundmusik zu einem kleinen Kampf, als auch die Musik von einem Flashback sein, je nachdem welche Stelle man nimmt. Es gibt aber ein paar perfekte Lieder, die definitiv rein müssten. Pianistec auf YouTube hat die Drei ??? Intros gecovered. Perfection. Eins davon ist sogar auf Spotify. Sollte in jede D3F-Playlist rein.

Harry Potter time! Obviously, Harry Potter already has a soundtrack. But that would take away all the fun, so... First of all, "Woman Like Me" by Little Mix. It fits the sassy personality and later persona Asteria takes on. Fitting to that, "Teen Idle" and "Oh No!" by MARINA. You can interpret your own reasons into that. "Battlefield" by SVRCINA for Deathly Hallows. "Line Without a Hook" by Ricky Montgomery for the relationship between Percy and Asteria, but it's not meant in a romantic way. "The Night Is Still Young" by Nicky Minaj, maybe for a victory party after a quidditch game, or just for a nice evening with Fred and George. "8TEEN" by Khalid for... something. Just. I like it. "High Enough" by K.Flay for something that I can't tell you what it is without throwing spoilers everywhere. Let's just say the kind of twisted vibe is fitting for it. Could be more twisted. It gets more twisted if I tell you that the song would not be about a person in that case. It wouldn't be about a twisted version of being in love, but about an obsession. A mania even. That's why it fits. Arctic Monkeys in general also would fit the story. "Judas" by Lady Gaga. "Everything At Once" by Lenka. It sounds innocent, right? Well, in this case it's about wanting to be perfect for everyone at once. "Mr Loverman" by Ricky Montgomeryfor Asteria's heartache in later years of the story. "Positions" by Ariana Grande and "Detention" by Melanie Martinez for the vibe. "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" for a cheesy slow dance between Fred and Asteria because obviously they would. But THE most important song of all, which is why I saved it for last: "Arsonist's Lullaby" by Hozier. No explainations given, you'll have to read and find out yourself.

5. What makes your main ship so compatible? Or, what makes them so incompatible? What do they see in each other?

Mein main ship im Auxiliary AU ist tatsächlich Peter/Jelena, auch wenn das eigentlich gar nicht so rauskommt. Peter und Jelena passen zusammen, weil sie sich ergänzen. Man könnte auch sagen, Gegensätze ziehen sich an, aber sie haben auch was gemeinsam. Peter ist ängstlich und vorsichtig. Jelena ist ziemlich rücksichtslos und aggressiv. Man könnte meinen, dass das absolut nicht zusammen passt. Tatsächlich sorgt das aber für eine relativ gute dynamic. Wenn Peter Angst hat, passt Jelena auf ihn auf und wenn Jelena etwas Unvorsichtiges tun will, hat Peter vergleichsweise gute Chancen, sie davon abzuhalten. Peter bewundert Jelena für ihren Mut, macht sich aber auch ständig Sorgen um sie, weil sie so unvorsichtig ist. Jelena findet Peter richtig liebenswert, wenn nicht fast schon niedlich. Sie hat es sich als Ziel gesetzt, ihm endlich mal die Aufmerksamkeit zu geben, die er braucht, und sich um ihn zu kümmern. Deshalb sieht man die beiden oft zusammen und Jelena hält seine Hand, wenn er Angst hat. Das geht mittlerweile schon längst ohne Kommunikation.

Actually, the story doesn't have a main ship. Or at least it's hard to name one and I don't want to say something wrong because I don't want to claim knowing anything about what polyamorous relationships are like and what you call which kind of relationship. Essentially, Asteria, being the main character, is in a relationship with both Fred Weasley and Oliver Wood, though she only starts dating Fred when Oliver has already graduated and the two of them are just friends. I guess I'll answer the question for both relationships and try to keep it short.

I'll start with the relationship that has been going on longer, which is Oliver/Asteria. Oliver loves Asteria for her sense of right and wrong and for the fact that she might just be the only person on the entire planet not to get annoyed or bored when he rambles about quidditch for hours on end or spends a lot of time training or at practice. He's amazed with her understanding for his passion. Asteria, on the other hand, thinks it's exactly his passion that makes him so wonderful. He's not afraid to show it to literally everyone. She also thinks it's adorable how he gets so excited over it every single time someone mentions the subject, no matter how many times he's talked about it before. She never gets tired of listening to him. Another big reason for her to love him is how he reacted to her illness (I won't say here which illness, read yourself). She just thought it was the sweetest thing ever. He also makes her feel safe, which is rare.

Now, Fred/Asteria. A dangerous relationship. A Weasley and a Malfoy. Both of them know that and it's a big factor why others might deem them incompatible. But, actually, they go very well together. Fred and George are the biggest pranksters of the entire school, everyone knows that. Asteria, on the other hand, is a trickster. She breaks almost as many rules as them, but she does it very sneakily. Nobody has ever caught her. Asteria is amazingly good at lying and deception and she enjoys tricking people. So while Fred does the big pranks that are just for fun and sometimes also for revenge, Asteria tricks people mostly for revenge or to follow along with her view of right and wrong. Fred admires Asteria's abilities when it comes to rule-breaking and trickery, but also her craftsmanship and inventive mind. He's essentially forgotten that her last name means that they should be enemies and has completely detatched her from her parents in his mind. Something else he appreciates is that Asteria grounds him and gives him advice when he's about to do something that he'll most likely regret in the future or that will have major consequences. Asteria admires Fred as a person, but also for what he represents through his family - love, acceptance and protectiveness. The kind of family Asteria wishes she had. Fred cheers her up when she is down and makes her worry less. Unlike Oliver, he doesn't make her feel safe. At least not in the same way. But that's exactly what she loves about Fred. He's unpredictable and wild, something that Asteria's childhood was very much lacking. He's supportive of everything she does that other people would call her mad for. Whatever "crazy" or "stupid" thing she wants to try, he does it with her or has already done it and can show her how to do it right. But no matter how dangerously crazy their adventures get, he watches out for her. They're a chaos couple, but also very intimate. Lots of people are confused that their relationship can be both chaotic and calm at the same time.

6. How do you feel the environment your character(s) grew up in shaped them as a human? How does the environment they’re in now shape them currently?

Jelenas Vater ist sehr streng und emotional eher distanziert. Das hat sie natürlich beeinflusst. Einerseits hat sie es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, Regeln zu brechen. Sie ist ein Rebell, weil sie diesen Käfig, in den ihr Vater sie gesetzt hat, hasst. Gleichzeitig hat sie aber ihre emotionale Distanzierung von ihm. Als Kind hat sie natürlich immer noch versucht. Kinder sind eben deutlich emotionaler. Aber spätestens mit dem Tod ihrer Mutter war ihr Vater emotional gesehen nur noch eine Steinsäule und Jelena ist selbst emotional kalt geworden. Sie ist es einfach nicht mehr gewohnt, mit irgendwen über ihre Emotionen zu reden. Musik ist ein sehr großes Medium für sie was das angeht. Es hilft ihr, die ganzen aufgestauten Emotionen einfach rauszulassen. Ihr extremer Beschützerinstinkt und die Einteilung von Leuten in Gut und Böse kommt vom Tod ihrer Mutter - und womöglich aus Filmen, die sie in der Richtung nach dem Tod beeinflusst haben. Schließlich ist es in Filmen normal und sogar gut, dass der Hauptcharakter böse Menschen bekämpft, verletzt und womöglich tötet. So ähnlich verhält es sich mit Jelena. Sie selbst zögert nicht, jemanden zu verletzen, wenn er ihr oder anderen droht. Aber wehe jemand kommt ihren Freunden zu nahe. Seit sie mehr Zeit mit den Jungs verbringt, hat sie sich definitiv zum Besseren verändert. Sie hat endlich jemanden, mit dem sie über ihre Emotionen reden kann - zumindest theoretisch. Die Jungs haben es auch geschafft, sie zumindest etwas aus ihrem aggressiven Kampfmodus zu holen und ihr dabei geholfen, den Tod ihrer Mutter endlich richtig zu verarbeiten.

Growing up a Malfoy will always shape a character. But that's especially the case with Asteria because of her illness and the fact that she's two years older than Draco. This means that she was born during the First Wizarding War. Her illness was clearly visible and known at birth, so she immediately became an unwanted child. This was always a big factor in her childhood at Malfoy Manor. She was locked in the manor for most of her childhood and whenever she went out, she had to take potions to make her appear normal. Still, she had her parents' blood purist beliefs, so she thought this was the right thing to do, even if she suffered under it. However, she soon breaks out of these prejudices during her first two years at Hogwarts, seeing with her own eyes that blood status does not matter. Hermione finally gives her the final push in her third year. Now, Asteria has practically turned fully against her parents and is taking Draco with her, even when he is still mostly trying to keep up his snobbish bully persona. This position of hers becomes stronger and stronger as she becomes close friends with Fred and George and starts dating Oliver. It's hard to say where "growing up" ends and where "currently" starts, so let me just say: Asteria is under constant influence from the outside and inside, wether she wants it or not, especially with Voldemort's return. Things spin wildly out of her control.

Call down the hawk spoilers!!!!!! these are just random thoughts while i was reading the book maybe later i’ll write something more coherent??

BUT the tl;dr is that I liked the book, I surprisingly like Declan more, pynch made me ache and I like Hennessy and Jordan as the new characters (the others idc). There are some stuffs that made me go “oh right this is a YA book” but overall it was an enjoyable book, I look forward to the rest and  i’ll draw smth soon-ish??

Looking through Dominik’s sketchbook. I loved the tree whose bark resembled a mole burrow with its underground tunnel system.

The flu. Yes, really. Fewer pupils at school. Quiet times. I’m actually surprisingly healthy. I’d guess my probiotics must play a role here… Who knows.

More sourdough experiments. Writing about it (DELICACY - a haiku. Oven-warm sourdough / salted butter, alpine cheese / and a strawberry).

Finding a really interesting list of SanFran hippie era book recommendations at the end of Robin Sloan’s Ajax Penumbra: 1969. In the mood to read Maya Angelou, Tom Wolfe, Jack Kerouac, Richard Brautigan.

Even more beautiful books: I really enjoyed Die weiße Stadt by Karolina Ramqvist, a feminist author from Sweden, and the graphic novel version of To Kill a Mockingbird. But two books that literally (well, figuratively obviously) blew my mind were Circe by Madeline Miller (mythology, loneliness, animals and plants, magic and monsters, some desperate kind of feminism, independence and strength) and Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo (magical realms, university setting, psychological depth, unexpected twists and turns). I haven’t read anything comparable in a very long time and I desperately hope that there’s more to come from these authors.

A beach collecting all the world’s single socks in The Magicians. Oh and of course seeing them break the moon. What a sight. The show is super confusing, obnoxious and absolutely fabulous at the same time. Best example: the Freaky Friday szene in which Margo and Eliot switch bodies. I love how the actors took on each other’s speech patterns and behaviour.

A new addition to my colour vocabular: celadon (a greyish green; there is a type of ceramics you’ll only see in this colour which is not surprising since the shade provides such an interesting contrast to the the earthy, rusty orange of burnt clay.)

Manu telling me that he had rarely seen people with more joy in their eyes than me (“Ich habe schon Freude in deinen Augen gesehen! So ein Leuchten kann man nicht simulieren.”) after complaining about being bored and lifeless. / Making curry with or, well, for him the other night. Drinking Liqueur 43 with cinnamon and milk. Playing the Jackbox party games for which you can use your phone as a controller.

Finding myself in a well-known sitation from the past. Lying in Frank’s bed in the early morning hours, not that tired yet, when he starts talking about his life and his depression. In English, obviously, because that’s our emotional filter. Relating, since I feel quite similar. Coming up with a suggestion for a reciprocal support system. Let’s see what we can do for each other.

Looking at travel photographs. The sea, the cenotes. Longing to go back to Mexico or Australia. Diving. Taking it all in.

Dreaming of my grandmother talking about her biggest regrets in life. Weirdly she was in a little bundle under a coffee table, much like Voldemort in the last Harry Potter movie.

Talking to Sonja for the first time in over two years. What a strange person. Interesting, too. At least in homeopathic doses.

Ripe strawberries and nectarines. Oh my god. I love fruit.

Meeting Eve at Pub Quiz. She identifies as female, loves swing dance, used to be an animator and I love her style. Also, I realised that really like Betty. And Dennis wasn’t mean to me for once. I love my nerd friends <3 And I learned that Starbucks was named after the first mate in Moby Dick! Also, coincidentally they asked a question about the city where To Kill a Mockingbird takes place (Maycombe, Alabama) after I had read it the week before.

Inviting Lorena to the Botanical Gardens. I always feel very happy and very much myself when I’m there. I sometimes wish I was a gardener. Lorena was late so I walked along the Spring Path outside and it might have been the first time I’ve seen a brussels sprouts plant. Inside I learned lots of Spanish words and marveled at the incredible butterflies. The huge yellow one right behind the entrance was my favourite. Its delicate feelers were fascinating.

Washing my hands at the Keg’s bathroom. Looking into the mirror. Suddenly thinking of the perfect karaoke song… Rescue Me by Bell Book and Candle! I kept singing it for days on repeat. My neighbour must hate me (nothing new here) especially since my voice is too low for the chorus.

That dream. About a book shop modeled after my picture of Penumbra’s 24-hour bookstore. There was an old man in a very narrow but high-ceilinged room full of books. There was no light source except for moonlight or some street lights. There were loads of stairs, very steep, leading to the back of the house. Upstairs the man would set out cat food and on the rooftop there was an old sailing boat. One day the man decided to open the door to the roof and let visitors see the ship, much like a museum; perhaps to attract customers. However, in the next night a cat-shaped ghost appeared who reminded me quite a lot of Kot Behemoth character in Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita. The ghost was not amused about the old man’s decision and took away his key, a big golden one adorned with a red ribbon.

Toasted sesame makes pretty much every dish so much better.

Watching High Fidelity with gorgeous Zoe Kravitz (I adore her effortless style and her outfits), getting in the mood for making a playlist and listening to more music in general. There are all these great songs out there I forgot about.

Saturday morning in bed. Reading comics and graphic novels. Fresh bedclothes, surrounded by books. Since it was February 29 I thought about leap years and asked a few friends what their inner seven-year-old would have done that day (based on the thought experiment that your birthday was on February 29 and you’d age in 4-year-steps which would divide your age by 4 obviously).      

I came up with: visiting grandma / eating Cini-Minis / falling asleep with my face buried in a cat / beating my neighbour Anna at Memory / drawing while listening to a Bibi Blocksberg cassette.

Alex said he’d have been outside all day, building a snow igloo. Not noticing his mum telling him to come to dinner. If the weather had been bad he would have played with his dinosaur collection. His inner 7-year-old was a hopeless dreamer who got agitated whenever his parents had a fight. Who came home late from school every day because he forgot about time when he was talking to his friend next to a hedge with thorns that looked like tiny airplanes.

Lena said she would have been outside all day long, playing in the mud with the neighbours’ kids. Of course.

A little salt, A lot of Sheith Meta

Alright... So there’s just a lot of things that have been on my mind since the big reveal. (Updated with even more meta!)

Beware there are some s7 spoilers under the cut. (And since I wrote this instead of the prompt for sheith month today I’ll use this as my entry instead @sheithmonth​ if it is considered appropriate / next)

So as probably most everyone in this fandom knows by now, Shiro has been confirmed gay with the release of the first episode of season seven. As I explained in a previous post, Shiro being confirmed queer has made me beyond excited, simply on the basis of what incredible representation this is. 

However, once again I have heard a bunch of people (honestly... probably not actual sheith shippers) yelling “Sheith is dead” because of Shiro’s ex-boyfriend. Well, first of all, it is an ex-boyfriend according to the vld staff. And, while I will admit I have not seen the full episode nor will I seek out any more spoilers, I can still say with full confidence that Sheith is not dead. Which, honestly, I think most Sheith shippers would agree.

(Also, side point: a ship cannot even “die” like... the point of shipping is looking at two characters and thinking they would be interesting together regardless of canon.)

Anyways, I’m just going to go ahead and break down exactly why I actually believe Sheith to be closer to canon than ever before.

I usually never have hope for a canonically queer ship, mostly because I’ve learned to not expect it. Voltron, however, has amazingly made me hope again. And I even dare to hope that the canonically queer ship will also be my otp.

However, my bias aside, there is plenty of evidence pointing to canon sheith. Starting with the entirety of season 6.

Like, don’t get me wrong, I was shipping Sheith from seasons 1-5 too. Keith’s very first scene in the show is his rescuing Shiro, followed by tenderly touching his face while saying his first word of the show: “Shiro?” Following this scene we see how Shiro and Keith have the deepest bond of the group and are consistently looking out for each other. In season two we have Shiro trusting Keith to succeed him as leader and the Blade of Mamora trials with the famous “Your friend desperately wants to see you.” Since then we’ve gotten hugs, tender looks, and promises of: I’ll save you “As many times as it takes.”

Despite all of this I still doubted they would become canon, but then season 6 came along. 

First of all this post which is not mine but goes in to all of this a lot, talks about how many of the romantic scenes expected for other ships happened for Sheith instead. Things like: Sheith’s bond being the focus of the season, Keith’s mom picking out Shiro because Keith told her so much about him, backstory, sacrificing themselves for one another, and even an emotional confession of “I love you.” Honestly, if we were looking at any sort of heterosexual ship, they would already be considered a couple by now.

Additionally we have seen some incredible parallels for Sheith as well. Both with Sheith and Keith’s parents and with Zaggar. On one hand we have the very similarly animated rescue scene between Keith’s dad and Krolia vs Keith rescuing Shiro in episode one. On the other hand, we have the very telling jaw-dropped reaction of Shiro with Keith and Zarkon with Honerva.

And now, with the new information from season 7, it adds a whole other layer to Shiro’s reaction. We were joking about his stuttering and complete focus on Keith during that scene was him being a gay disaster. But the truth is he is a confirmed gay disaster. Literally, how else do you explain that scene? Plus, while I know the 2 year jump wasn’t some move by the showrunners to address the “too big of an age gap” claims, I still think it’s an important moment for Shiro. Shiro has never treated Keith like a kid in the series, and they have been shown to be best friends and reliant on each other since the beginning. But I genuinely believe that this moment was when Shiro realized that Keith really has gotten older/more mature/(hotter). “You really have changed,” Shiro said. 

And, if we take the parallels a step further (and while some people may call it a stretch, I personally really enjoy this one). We all know how Lauren and Joaquim also worked on Legend of Korra, another show that pushed for lgbt rep and that ended with canon Korrasami  The ending scene of which had a very visually similar theme repeated in Voltron. A pillar of light between the two queer characters.

But, regardless of all the observed parallels and incredibly heartfelt moments, we now have an interesting problem(?) on our hands: the introduction of Shiro’s ex-boyfriend Adam. I will reiterate that I have not actually seen the new episode in full (and correct me if I’m wrong), but a lot of the episode’s focus is on pre-Kerberos backstory.

Within this backstory we meet Adam, someone Shiro loves and cares for deeply, to the point that they were practically (if not actually?) fiances. However, as Shiro deals with a chronic illness and pursues his dream of piloting in space anyways, Adam leaves Shiro and tells Shiro that he will not wait for him.

Now, from this information alone I immediately believe that Adam is meant to foil Keith. Where Adam (for whatever reasons, good or bad) could not stand by Shiro through everything, Keith has repeatedly proven he will do anything to protect Shiro and stay by his side.

Additionally, from a narrative standpoint, it really wouldn’t make sense to make Shadam endgame. Now it is true that anything is possible in 26 episodes. It could turn out that Shiro will have his reconciliation with Adam on Earth and they will get back together. In the event that this happens, (and if it happens in a way that is healthy and is good for Shiro), I hope everyone will support the relationship regardless of ships. Because that will still be amazing representation!

However, I doubt that would happen. Simply because we have never heard of Adam before. If the vld staff was shooting for this big queer couple for a while, why only mention him in the last 26 episodes? Especially since a majority of the episodes of season 7 (I assume) will be them just trying to get to Earth, leaving very few to flesh out a Shiro/Adam story. From a story-telling standpoint Shiro should have been talking about or mentioning Adam from the start to more easily introduce this couple to the audience. However, Adam only gets brought up when Shiro has to face the reality that he is making it back to Earth and there is a chance he will see Adam again.

[Edit: Plus, just think of how much has changed since Shiro left. He has been imprisoned for a year by the Galra and forced to fight, had his arm replaced with a robotic prosthetic, been experimented on, has become part of a universe-defending team fighting in an intergalactic war, literally died, spent who knows how long as just a consciousness in a giant robot space cat, and then revived and given the memories of a cloned version of himself. He’s been through a lot. And who knows what Shiro’s gone through better than Keith?

Adam, on the other hand, has most likely had no idea what happened. If I assume this correctly, for this entire time Shiro’s been gone, Adam has believed Shiro to not only be dead, but responsible for the Kerberos mission’s failure. I would assume when the mission was called Pilot Error, Adam would have had his fears confirmed: by taking the Kerberos mission despite being ill, Shiro put his life and the crew’s lives in danger. I honestly cannot even imagine how Adam must have reacted when he heard the news. I honestly can’t wait to see how he reacts to Shiro being alive. 

After everything they’ve gone through, will they really be able to rekindle that old flame so easily?]

Additionally, we can argue that season 6 was one of the biggest Sheith seasons of the series. We got that two year age jump with Keith that has Shiro reacting like the disaster gay he is. Plus, Shiro’s reaction to Keith saying “I love you” (while not reacting to the “you’re my brother” line) still sticks with me, along with Keith refusing to let go and accepting to fall to his death with Shiro. We got Keith astral projecting himself by screaming Shiro’s name and then cradling Shiro in his arms in the last five minutes of the season. And to now immediately follow up that season (that was so focused on Shiro and Keith’s bond) with a confirmation that Shiro is gay? I really don’t think that’s a coincidence.

[Edit: Not to mention how I’ve seen multiple posts going around talking about the different dubs. One being the German dub’s ich liebe dich, which is apparently for a stronger/more profound love than ich habe dich lieb. And of course, the Japanese dub’s aishiteru which is also much deeper than the more commonly used daisuki. Like, if you’ve ever watched subbed anime, confession scenes will almost never use aishiteru. Aishiteru is rarely used because it denotes a deeper love akin to saying “I am in love with you from the bottom of my heart.” It is almost exclusively used between romantic partners, and rarely (if ever!) used between family/friends. The parts I bolded were what stood out to me from this article/interview. The showrunners have never wanted the focus to be just on relationships. The focus has, and always will be, on these characters defending the universe together. However, they will include romance if it happens naturally within the story. I really believe that if we were looking for a naturally developing relationship in the show it would be Sheith, and not between Shiro and some brand new guy (or at least new to the audience). In order to truly convince us Shadam is a good ship, the showrunners would have to focus on it a lot in the remaining two seasons. Why go through that effort when they could instead develop the relationship Keith and Shiro already have in the show?]

Not to mention, despite the introduction of Adam in the episode, the episode’s main focus was still on Shiro and Keith. The new episode has yet another Sheith hug, Keith worrying over Shiro in a pod, and many pre-Kerberos scenes (without Adam) that feature Keith and Shiro’s history. (Oh and I just got spoiled this next screenshot, there is apparently a rainbow above Keith and Shiro in one scene?! Also, it’s yet another example of a sunset as a romantic backdrop between them.) In other words, I really believe that Shiro will ultimately have his reconciliation with Adam, but they won’t get back together. Shiro will probably end up having feelings for Keith instead. 

Although, I can’t know that for sure and anything could happen. But then, I can’t help but go to stuff outside of the show as well.

I think this is the part of fandom that I do not like. Shipwars. Antis. Dishonesty. Cheating. Ganging up. Trying to hurt people. Bullying. Grandstanding. Fanwars. 

It’s as if you can’t LOVE a fictional ship without being against someone else’s ship. Or hate a character or ship without needing to make it toxic or evil, and thus everyone who loves it evil in whatever way you think the most despicable.

Just to be clear: you CAN love a ship without turning it into a shipwar. Someone shipping something you don’t, even a ship that contradicts yours, is NOT an attack on you. People can ship whatever they want and it actually has NO effect on you or your ship. That is how THEY engage with fiction. That is how they experience being a fan, and it’s personal and isn’t about you. And you can HATE a character or ship and it doesn’t mean they or their fans are bad people. It’s okay. Your feelings are valid and you don’t need to make them righteous.

Calling the Bellarkes cheaters, and asking for an investigation of the poll for bots is… well… okay. They mistrust it and us. Fine. So zimbio does an investigation and finds out what? That Bellarke WAS cheating… by about 3k votes. Remove the votes. 

BUT Sanvers and CL were cheating by 30+k votes EACH. And Swanqueen was cheating by 10k votes. So okay. Investigation done. Sanvers and CL were cheating 10x worse than Bellarke, but they interpret that to mean that the poll is crooked, not the Sanvers and CL voters. Even though the evidence points to the cheaters being their own fandom. But they can’t accept that so they straight up rewrite the evidence to support their claim. This is called confirmation bias. 

Bellarke did not buy off Zimbio. What a stupid claim. We just vote hard because we’ve been voting against cheaters for years. And we know it. We know CL is organized and they cheat and they are obsessive and angry, so it feeds the rivalry and we vote HARD. Ask Outlanders fans from last year’s Alpha Male. They had to vote extra hard to keep up with us. It’s HARD to do that and we were all exhausted at the end of it. 

We vote hard because we’re voting against people who hate us and will stop at nothing to beat us, for whatever reasons.

Why?

What’s the point in voting in polls with people who are just going to cheat to win. It doesn’t even MEAN anything. And I’ve felt like this before with polls against CLs. Even if they don’t cheat, they gang up, and lie, and get people who don’t care to vote AGAINST us, simply to beat us. That’s not a fan poll, that’s an anti poll. And its intent is not to have fun and enjoy their ship but to hurt another fandom and take away their fun.  AND THAT SUCKS. 

Most of the Bellarke fandom is NOT against wlw ships or lgbt people. A big portion of the Bellarke fandom is actually LGBT. So to attack us feels very personal, since they are also attacking our identities. The comments on that poll explicitly call for all WLW ships to band together to beat “the straights” and knowing all the bisexual Bellarke fans I know, and that Clarke herself is bisexual and the gender of her partner doesn’t make her straight, well, hell, that feels like biphobia. And gate keeping. :(

Now what do I think of the Bellarke fandom? Well, back when it was very much Bellarke vs CL and I was getting bullied by the CL fandom and so were a lot of other people, I thought it was THEM over there that were the problem. It was the CLs that were the aggressors and attackers and wrong. And then the rivalry faded away and CLs moved on to other things and L wasn’t in the story anymore so Bellarkers moved on, too. And it didn’t take too long for new rivalries to rise up. People fought against fan theories they hated. Against characters they suddenly and violently discovered a hatred for. Against ships they decided were abusive, toxic and racist. Against other fans for being misogynist and/or racist.  So in other words, the Bellarke fandom isn’t better, special or different. We’re just the same.

People like drama and they rile the fandom up to HATE people. And they will find any excuse they can to call those people (fictional or real) the worst names they possibly can. Those characters/writers/stories/fans are racist/abusive/misogynist/biphobic/lesbophobic/abuse apologist and all around evil. People were told to go die if they liked this character, people were told they were racist if they liked that ship. People were hounded if they dared to speak about a storyline some didn’t like. They were hijacked and told they weren’t allowed to speak about certain characters or their stories. Oh and don’t forget Gossip Grounder. That was all bellarke, baby. And it wasn’t just the one person. Others within the Bellarke fandom knew about it and supported it and only got upset about it when she turned on them. 

Drama. Trouble makers. Bullies. 

Every time the drama in the fandom dies down, someone has to make more drama and climb up on their soap box to feel relevant and powerful. It’s a handful of people who like to start trouble, but they’re pretty good at riling it up amongst others.

About a week ago, I got an email from the Kilkenny Archaeological Society asking for volunteers to take part in a community inclusion project for the Kilkenny Famine Experience. The email explained a bit about the story behind it and when I went there today, the lady in charge Marion Acreman explained it again and showed some slides as well: Apparently, when they did the construction work for MacDonagh Junction Shopping centre on the site of the former Kilkenny workhouse, they found 975 human remains there. This started the largest investigation into the Irish Famine, because the skeletons could be used to find out the actual cause of death. Jonny Geber wrote a book called “Victims of Ireland’s Great Famine”, which they use for the monument. More about that later.

The minute books from the workhouse do survive, but apparently, there were 99 human remains showing signs of scurvy, even though the minute books don’t mention scurvy at all. The bodies had been buried at the site, because the city’s cemeteries were full and people had to be buried somewhere. They all got a shroud and a wooden coffin, but no names survive. The remains have been returned to the site in 2010 and are part of the Famine Garden, but there is an initiative to create a Famine Experience with a free tour. An artist, who was present at the fingerprint taking today, was commissioned to design a statue, of which we were shown a photograph. People are asked to provide their fingerprints to represent the people who had been buried at the site. Oh, by the way, I ran into my English friend (the girl I had met at the hostel back in September) there and after some confusion, we ended consecutive numbers, so our fingerprints might end up next to each other on the monument. Everyone in the room (there were only about 12 people) could choose to be connected to a woman, a man or a child (the sex of the children could not be determined from the remains) and was assigned a roman numeral (mine had been LXVI, my friend’s LXX). There was a book with all the Roman numerals where you could leave your name, place of residence, information about your connection to the site and a comment. When I wanted to enter my details at number 66, someone had already written in there, so I had to choose the next available line, which happened to be 69. We could then look up our number in Gerber’s book and find out more details about our connected famine victim. With mine, 80% of the skeleton had survived and the child had had scurvy. My friend’s child had only left behind 10% and no other information was given. Afterwards, you gave your finger print. Marion had started her talk with the story of two boys from Clonmel - John and Patrick Soul - who had walked from Clonmel to Dublin with their parents to emmigrate, but upon arrival, the parents boarded the ship alone and sent the boys back to Tipperary. They ended up in the Kilkenny workhouse, where we loose trace of them. The monument will be unveiled on November 7th by a descendant of one of the inmates who lives in Australia now.

Jeder im Raum (es waren nur ungefähr 12 Leute) konnte aussuchen, ob er mit einer Frau, einem Mann oder einem Kind von damals (das Geschlecht der Kinder konnte anhand der Knochen nicht mehr bestimmt werden) verbunden zu werden, worauf man eine römische Zahl zugewiesen bekommen hat (meine war die LXVI und meine Freundin hatte die LXX). Es lag ein Buch aus mit all dden römischen Zahlen, in das man hinter seine Nummer seinen Namen, Wohnort, Verbindung zur Stätte und einen Kommentar eintragen konnte. Danach hat man seinen Fingerabdruck einscannen lassen. Als ich meine Daten bei der 66 eintragen wollte, war die Zeile schon beschrieben und die nächste Zahl, wo eine Zeile frei war, war die 69.

Wir konnten dann unsere Nummer in dem Buch von Gerber nachschlagen und noch einige Details zu “unserem Toten” erfahren.
