i really love it when people here are “not normal” about the things they love. yes!! break down the scene that you’ve been obsessing over for weeks! create incredibly intricate theories based on a few throwaway lines! explain why you love this character so much—458 reasons and counting, and with visual aids! i love to see people putting their heart and soul into not being normal!!!

getting up on my soapbox for a moment. i find it laughable that nearly every time someone says they don’t like rap they cite hamilton and k-pop as the only rap they can tolerate. because everything else is just so violent and full of blatant consumerism. first off. so is k-pop. secondly. idk how to tell you the founding fathers were some of the most violent people around (coming from a black american descentant of slaves who is most likely related to thomas jefferson. shouldn’t have to explain the relevance here). thirdly. hamilton and k-pop both reference and interpolate rap. so idk what to tell you babes. you do like rap. you just don’t like black people. say it with your full chest next time.

Just realising most of my grievances with popular bat fanon really boil down to "Character flaws are good and interesting actually and I don't like when you try and take them away to make the character more palatable"

Transgender allegory? In my digital circus? It's more likely than you think...
Edit: I know they cannonically use any pronouns, I meant that their relationship with body dysmorphia is not about being trans. They feel uncomfortable in a body that is not theirs, and this narrative is often used by trans people to describe their discomfort with their body. In Zooble's case, they are trapped in a digital avatar. That is why I called it an allegory, since Zooble's dysphoria is not directly about being trans.

People who say the U.S. has no culture clearly have never had the experience of chasing your cousin around the yard with a sparkler at a cookout, lips stained from cherry kool-aid and your grandmothers strawberry shortcake as the sun turns the sky gold and the air smells of woodsmoke and grass, or sang take me out to the ballpark with thousands of strangers, ballcap on your head and an overpriced hotdog in your hand as you root for a team for no reason other than hometown pride, or felt sheer terror as the rickety ferris wheel shifts under you as you reach the top, already sick from eating something that definitely shouldn't have been deep fried, and then the thrill of seeing the entire fairgrounds from up there turned pink as the sun sets, or driven down a backroad with all the windows down as the leaves turn bright orange with George Strait on the radio, or felt the hum of excitement from the crowd as the air fills with red dirt and the announcer calls out the name of the next bull rider, or sat on a blanket on a dark hillside somewhere surrounded by a few dozen other families as the town shoots off fireworks for the 4th,
but maybe that's just me

I think it's important to remember that just because you find someone basic or boring or whatever, you're actually very wrong and they are a unique and layered person with their own complicated life, emotions and interests. They don't have to perform anything to show you how interesting or special they are.
That straight white girl with her stanly cup and sephora makeup doesn't have to show you what makes her 'unique'. The older gentleman who shares conspiracy theories on facebook and mows his lawn early in the morning doesn't have to prove he isn't an 'npc' to you. The woman with the 'Karen' haircut and her son who watches stupid youtube videos don't have to drop everything to demonstrate to you that they can break the stereotypes you've associated with them.
Every person is a real person. Even if you never see them do a thing other than what you expect them to do, they are just as deep and emotional as you are because they are ALIVE! They're real! And they don't owe you a tour into their lives just to prove to you that they have thoughts and feelings! Just because you lack the empathy or understanding to see that someone who doesn't share your same lifestyle, hobbies or stereotypes might actually have a rich and detailed life, doesn't mean you're right.
