They're a candle! The body and oversize hoodie are all the wax and the undercut ponytail is the little flame (like Ember from Danny Phantom lol). Her feet are kinda goopy and her hands never show b/c the sleeves of the hoodie drip over them (sometimes driping off completely.)

i got kinda bored with my old one (drawing me but purple) so they got a little upgrade for my silly little personal doodles.

Have you ever had the same kind of insane crush on another character like the one you have for KC? If so, what character was the latest to be like that?

So I was actually thinking about this yesterday. The way I fell for King Candy, genuinely I believe borderlines on devotion. Not an obsession or addiction, or a high to get off on. But I think I genuinely, fell in love, with King Candy. Not in a "I need to protect him" or "he's my top favorite, my blorbo, my hyperfixation!" way. More in a kinda, "I would let the world burn for you" kind of way. It's probably not healthy, IDK, but I know when to differ from fictional and real life, but just by glancing at him, hearing his voice, his laugh, even the jingles when he moves, my heart just melts.

As I was telling my friend last night. I've struggle with romantic relationships irl. I've dated but never truly knew if I was able to actually love someone else like a partner should. I came to accept I was incapable of loving someone else romantically. Of course, like anyone else, I had fictional 'crushes' over the years, two were more of a "My son!/My boy!" type of favorite, the most recent being Scarab from Fionna and Cake.

Just something about his voice, his determination, relentless pursuit captivated me so much, I was melting at the sound of his hot voice just 😩 (Doesn't help he's also a bug/turns into a big bug at the end, I swear that wasn't even PLANNED).

Then when I was younger, I had developed such a huge crush on Baxter Stockman from TMNT 2012, and not even his human form, more specifically, his Stockman-Fly form.

He was such a dork and I remember cheering as a kid whenever a character said "Get me Baxter Stockman." And... yes, also a bug. Again, NOT PLANNED. It's a complete coincidence they all share.

I guess my short answer is, no. This was suppose to be short but I ended up rambling. But to be honest, I really don't think I mind. It feels weird, but I don't think I mind feeling like I'll never love another person the same way I love King Candy. I fantasize about him, fawn over him, want to appreciate every aspect and detail and trait of him. I just adore him. In every aspect of the word.

yes!! i used this url a lot in the past, i think i first got it really soon after i first read solitaire in 2017, and then i would switch back and forth between this and a bunch of other ones until 2021. it's kind of funny that darcyolsson was the one that stuck eventually bc i used this a lot more over the years!

i'll go back to darcyolsson in time (not using that url feels weird by now) but after seeing tori & michael in the show i had to..... i love them so dearly still. 4ever sticking with the alice urls though she raised me through the magic of the internet & young adult books and for that this blog must forever remain a shrine to her work (even if it's just in name) 🙏

my favorite season of Shameless is S3 and there are a lot of reasons why but one of them is cause there's a lot more of JimmySteve, which I believe is the funniest character of the show, and his involvement with the Brazilian cartel and, well, I'm Brazilian.

That being said I hate Estefania but I do like how they wrote her, I believe she is a truthful portrait of the rich Brazilian girl. She's gorgeous and handsy and works out a lot, she's a natural beauty, she's provocative, long hair perfect sculpted body... What I hate though is that the directive team specifically asked her to deliver all of her lines kind of moaning and childishly and it gets. to. my. nerves. I know why they did it, it was so it comes as sexy and spoiled, and the fact that non portuguese speakers wouldn't understand what she's saying adds to the effect. Even so, no one speaks the way she does, which is extremely theatrical, so my experience was not the best.

I do LOVE Beto, the guy that has to follow JimmySteve around. He and Estefania's dad, Nando: every time they speak portuguese they do it angry-like and deliver the lines with emphasis kind of like projecting it out even when it's not necessary, but it sounds more natural. Beto did sound like a true carioca (that being how the Brazilians who are born in the city of Rio de Janeiro are referred to), he joked around about soccer and talked to JimmySteve about his family and his experience living in the favela, and some times he would use Brazilian expressions and it was so funny to me.

3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

The bat symbol implies nonlethal, but Jason's not willing to bet on it. Not when he can hear the clang of the crowbar on brick when he's forced to dart out of the way once more. Not when he knows what kind of hit was aimed for his head the first time. Not when he knows exactly how they'll feel if they land.

A little bit of Jason being fucked up about his death as a treat <3 crowbar was not the thing that killed him but he's definitely experiencing some sort of trauma response that he absolutely refuses to acknowledge. There's a smattering of that throughout the rest of the story :]

Also the bat symbol implying nonlethal when Jason's gonna confront Bruce (the original bat symbol) and get murdered about it before the year is out... teehee.

4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

EXTREMELY HARD QUESTION I like just about every single line in that fic. (I'd probably cut the bits about Robby though, honestly, if I could go back. Maybe it's just because I recently remembered violently deep my hatred for Cheer runs.) Anyway favorite dialogue line.

"I fucking hate you." There's no heat in the words. "Being Robin was the best thing that ever happened to me, it was the best thing that ever happened to you, and I can never have that again."

The loss of Robin. I do think it's very important that those three years are what Jason considers the highlight of his life. I need him to be yearning aching for something he can never have again. I need him to have had a genuine loving relationship with Bruce. They cared about each other. That one Batman Annual #25 narration box where it's like "His own mortality became the wedge between them"? ...Yeah.

Older Jason here is blaming his younger self's choices for that divide but I do not think that is necessarily true. Bruce has also changed even in those 6 months before Jason came back to life. The very landscape of comics changed in those 17 years. There's something irreconcilable there.

I do hope Jason gets to heal and have better years ahead one day but haha that sure is not happening anytime soon lol.

11: What do you like best about this fic?

The entire fic is really just one big argument so I think saying I liked the part where they fight and argue the best is a bit cheap. So instead I will narrow in!! On two lines of dialogue.

"Come on, Red, did you forget about Robby? Mom's sick fuck of a dealer that we pushed down the stairs at the tender age of nine? We were already a murderer before Bruce took us in. He thought we pushed Felipe Garzonas, because he knew we were glad that rapist ate shit on the sidewalk. This penchant for killing? Knowing that this is a line that needs to be crossed? It was always in us."

Again iffy on my own decision to canonize Robby's death here but I think the sentiment stands. Jason's moral code differs from Bruce's, particularly after he's had the opportunity to develop what he believes in over the course of Lost Days. Jason's perhaps lying to himself here with regards to the "it was always in us" bit but yeah. I think he never really regretted the fact that Garzonas was dead and would never be able to hurt anyone again.

"You freeze up," Red says, and his voice is too vicious, too satisfied. "You have a flashback. And of course you make an excuse, make it about Bruce again, you lie to yourself again and again, but at the end of the day you're fucking weak. You don't have the stomach for the shit you do. You felt sick after Robby went crunch at the bottom of the stairs, and that's never changed."

Also true. Viewing killing shitty people as a necessary duty does not mean Jason is necessarily comfortable with killing people. I think he was nauseous and sick to his stomach and throwing up while cutting off those heads and had nightmares about it for weeks afterwards but he did it anyway. Him having this internal revulsion that he needs to force himself through... he believes what he's doing is right so strongly that he is willing to push through that... very compelling to me.

I also really liked seeing people speculate on what they thought happened after the end of the fic. That was fun :]
