The Chinese side invites the Japanese side to participate in the Global Women's Summit commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Beijing World Conference on Women. 9. leverage the 2025 Osaka-Kansai World Expo into a platform for exchange and friendship between the peoples of both countries. The Chinese side supports Japan in hosting the event, while the Japanese side welcomes China's participation and will provide assistance for the construction and operation of the China Pavilion. 10. hold the 3rd meeting of the High-Level Consultation Mechanism on People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges between China and Japan.

The Future of U.S. Embassy Operations Under Project 2025: A Critical Perspective
Project 2025 outlines a transformative vision for U.S. embassy operations, aiming to streamline diplomatic missions, increase efficiency, and align embassy roles more directly with U.S. foreign policy goals. While the plan seeks to modernize embassy functions and reduce operational costs, critics argue that the proposed changes could compromise the diplomatic effectiveness, flexibility, and local…

The Outer Worlds 2: First Gameplay Trailer
The Outer Worlds 2 will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) in 2025. It will also be available via Game Pass. The PlayStation 5 version is newly announced.
Latest details
The call to go beyond the stars is here once again, and it’s bigger, bolder, and more unpredictable than ever. We just revealed a first gameplay trailer for The Outer Worlds 2 during The Game Awards 2024, promising a fresh adventure in a brand-new colony next year. No really, we know we’re not supposed to promise things in marketing, but the setting is completely new, so this is all factual. Just don’t break the colony again. We’re looking at each of you who sent the Hope into the sun in the last game.
In true Obsidian Entertainment fashion, you carve your path through Arcadia, a colony teeming with factions, intrigue, and chaos. It’s also home of skip drive technology and where the fate of the entire colony – and the galaxy – rests. As a daring, undeniably good-looking, and questionably competent Earth Directorate agent, you’re tasked with uncovering the source of devastating rifts threatening the entire galaxy. Talk about stakes (not to be confused with raptidon steaks, those are very different)! The choice of how to deal with the rifts is up to you. “Your worlds, your way,” as we say at Obsidian.
Are the rifts the only thing threatening Arcadia? Of course not! That would be too easy. A factional war between the “benevolent rulers” known as the Protectorate, a rebellious scientific religious order, and a corporate mega power has the colony torn apart. Each is trying to close or control the rifts for their own good/monetarily profitable needs. Church, state, and capitalism! Who will win?! Well, that’s really up to you. This is your game. We’ve said the choices were yours the whole time. See that Obsidian motto above? Yeah, you get it.
We’ve said choice a few times already, but guess what? This is an RPG so it’s going to come up a few more times. When it comes to crafting your commander, it is full-on “RPG with RPG elements” time from ability points to skill checks in conversations, to even how flawed you want to be because, let’s admit it, no one is perfect. Except those who think they are. Look at you go. Being perfect.
How you build your commander and chart your way through the narrative is uniquely yours as you plunge into this player-driven story. Whether you’re a disciple of diplomacy, a smart strategist, a crusader of chaos, or defiantly different (so we can keep the alliterations), the choice – you guessed it—is yours. Oh, and with this being The Outer Worlds, yes, you can dumb!
While The Outer Worlds 2 is a single-player RPG, you won’t be alone! Not virtually anyway. Enlist a crew of companions to help you achieve your goals. Nothing says “middle management” more than sending people out to fight your fights for you, then having them judge everything you do with a visual reminder of how much they loved or hated it. Maybe you’ll help them fulfill their dreams or goals along the way. Clearly you care enough about the people working with you to see their dreams realized… right?
As excitement grows for the upcoming 2025 launch, now is the perfect time to revisit The Outer Worlds and relive the adventure that started it all. Whether you’re a seasoned spacer or are setting foot in Halcyon for the first time, there’s no better moment to prepare for the next chapter. The Outer Worlds is available for purchase on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. You also can jump in today if you’re a Game Pass member.
On top of that, the universe is expanding beyond the game! The Outer Worlds 2 will be featured in the upcoming Secret Level anthology series, streaming on Prime Video. Tune in on December 17 for a short story that takes place between The Outer Worlds and The Outer Worlds 2. While you may have thought that was a lot of shilling, the Secret Level episode is legitimately good, and if the Board were around, they’d tell you it was mandatory viewing.
Wishlist the game today on Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox app on Windows PC, and Steam, and stay tuned for more updates on The Outer Worlds 2—we can’t wait to share what’s next with you. The galaxy is yours to explore; the only question is, how will you shape it?

The world is literally on fire. War, famine, the senseless slaughter of children and catastrophic climate disasters. Add in a 🇺🇸 election that will further shape the future, to say I’m impervious to the name calling and puerile rhetoric from the chattering chorus would be an understatement.
But, but Sam, Caitriona.
I’ve been asked about my absence here and all of the usual questions, considerate and downright rude. Tumblrinas who think they know me giving updates on my status in the Apps and DM here with zero substantive information. It’s 🙄
What do I see here.
The same tired and redundant tropes. Years old videos and photos. Years old reblogs. Its cringeworthy. It’s so embarrassing. Relationships evolve as do the people in the said relationship. They are not the same young, naive in the first flush of love people.
I’m not interested in 7B. 7A was not great. I’m not interested in hanging around waiting for the same old and never different promo, interviews and fan engagement. And I’m absolutely not going to be here for S8, at the end of 2025. The filler until then will be the same old, as mentioned above.
Stale ancient history on repeat. If we are all still here and the world isn’t at war my attention will be elsewhere.
Observations. Sam has fully embraced his Chris Hemsworth era. Multiple rings, necklaces, bracelets and those shirts. Next up perhaps a fitness health hub broadcast channel , similar but different, moving away from MPC. It will happen. We all know that MPC is on notice. He will need to shed the diehard Sam only’s who are in MPC. He will start pitching to get male fans and incorporate it with the booze business. Chris is very much his muse.
Will it be successful? Only if he takes the risky route and moves away from easy money that are the booze buying diehard fans and the Cons. Difficult to walk away from easy money though.
Caitriona will struggle to get roles that aren’t the wife, mother in a co-star role. Perhaps she will do what other older actress have done in their 40’s. Have a production company, hustle to get great material and produce the type of interesting and original material that could keep her active in the industry.
She will be up against it though. Nicole Kidman is everywhere right now ( who remembers that bitchy comment and parody that Caitriona made about Nicole? It may have already come back to bite.) Reese Witherspoon is a powerhouse and is not just producing but starring in many projects. They are just two in a competitive landscape of 40/50 something actresses hustling. Maybe she will embrace the other genre of the moment, podcasts. Idea- she and Garance could enter the arena talking about doppelgängers, fashion and beauty. I’d listen 😉
Caitriona will ultimately be forced to do what she has hated doing these past few years, be active in SM engagement and communication with her fan base. Add in balancing motherhood with an older child that can’t be hidden forever.
I wish both the very best success. They are fortunate to have financial security and can afford to be considered and cautious moving forward.
🔮 NYCC - Sam will be groomed by Melissa and the curls will be chopped. If patterns are the same, and he is nothing if not predictable, then it’s a yes with much kvetching across the dash.
Just read this book and thought of Sam. I really hope he is able to get an Everest project done.
Love my gifted tote from the July NATO summit. It’s concerns like NATO membership, diplomacy to guide the Middle East away from war and to stop right wing authoritarianism that occupy my energy and time.

I truely believe that instead of drawing conclusions from Ivanka Trump’s inauguration look to Wives in Gilead, we need to be comparing her looks to that of royalty. Ivanka dresses intentionally and loudly. Her desire to be seen as an icon is easy for a layman to pick up with her historical recreations.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bfeb765b482cf6d3d013149bece18a0d/0da6c9a20d439dee-a4/s640x960/df806a3f85048a4a4864252d6d49f294a98f4f7f.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/dba0ba42f1d8cd3b50f0b9e4574117d0/0da6c9a20d439dee-17/s640x960/59f510e4a36a04bb3313296d45de5d08d5165317.jpg)
But in highlighting the obvious narrative, we’re forgetting soft messaging, which is inherent to what Royal Watchers call fashion diplomacy. With these recallable looks for the big, news worthy, events it’s easy to look past the Trump family’s subtle return to tradition; and more scarily, their desire for permanence.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/88fff6d3e39f6638aca3e9d3de925d94/0da6c9a20d439dee-f3/s540x810/3a8c4e7ef1905552cacf4318f1de4f3a79f70bb1.jpg)
The Trump women’s descent into traditional fashion using statement gloves and hats is visual propositioning. When women’s hands are fashion, to be covered, where else does fabric go? Melania’s gloves in 2016 were a choice, most clearly represented when standing beside the First Lady of the previous administration. In wearing gloves to the 2016 election, Melania became the first First Lady to do so since the election of Richard Nixon. Don’t believe me? Look at the historical record, all women since Patricia in that red coat have removed their gloves before holding the bible for the president to swear his oath.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/aa00452a71c8db14abb935dc94c4d8c0/0da6c9a20d439dee-90/s540x810/e4e1bdca9b3bd53ac380d1b9e69d65de82ddab3e.jpg)
In 2025, what do we see? Gloves. Gloves that match and hats too.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9db10875d45002693a78df9b03ab6012/0da6c9a20d439dee-94/s540x810/3519c359efa4785c716f98a0b26aecf93e13a7ef.jpg)
While the gloves were off indoors, the hats remained on. Before you “mehmehHatHairmeh,” I want you to ask yourself, have you ever seen a representative of your country wearing a decorative hat? I’m not talking about religious or cultural garb; I’m talking about decadence. Visual representations of wealth disparity and class divide. No First Lady since Nancy Reagan (ring an alarm yet?) and before her, you guessed it, Pat Nixon has worn a hat or fascinator to the Inauguration of their husband.
I want you to think about that. And I mean really sit in it, because this is not the America that I was born into. It is not the America that most of our parents were raised in. This is not an American silhouette.

Yes. Please. The Hubernie fandom on tumblr would be most appreciative.
it took me an embarrassingly long time to answer this because I kept starting to answer and then getting distracted, but, I’m gonna try now!
(This anon is referring to me asking if there’s interest in hearing my hubernie HCs in what was at the time the year of our lord 2024 and now it’s 2025 and it’s even more embarrassing that I’m still stuck on these bozos but here we are)
Here are some hubernie HCs that are not particularly groundbreaking or interesting but nevertheless spark joy
They have Work Gloves too. Like, you see them wearing their regular ones—Hubert’s are white and Bernadetta’s are yellow and purple. But when they’re at Work they both wear black ones. Specifically black leather gloves (easier to clean).
Their ending states Bernadetta works at Hubert’s right hand in the shadows. From this I infer she’s also co-running the spy ring. I imagine Bernadetta contributes a lot of people smarts to their work. Sometimes Hubert uses this for diplomacy but more often than not he uses it as a way for them to guess what a frightened target is going to do so they can corner them faster. They’re a very effective team.
They are both nobles, and Bernadetta in particular is very wealthy. However I think they still cook their own meals. Bernadetta canonically loves to cook, and I think Hubert would like to have a way he can be of service to her. It makes him feel nice.
Related: Sometimes when it’s his night to cook, if Hubert fucks up the food and burns some of it he just gives her everything that’s not charred and eats the bits he ruined.
They like to sit next to each other on a loveseat and read their own things. Bernadetta is reading romance novels and Hubert’s reading Work Things, books on magical theory or tactical theory, or books on poisons. However he does like to read the romance over Bernie’s shoulder when he thinks she’s not looking. He tells himself it’s so he can learn more about what she finds romantic/sexy but in truth he actually kind of likes it. Even if he calls it schmaltz.
Hubert tries really hard sometimes to be romantic for her but often fumbles spectacularly. However he’s quite good at it when he is not trying or is really flustered. He can never do it on purpose.
In the original Japanese, Hubert calls her Lady Bernadetta, and calls Edelgard Master Edelgard. As a result I usually write Hubert calling Bernie “Lady Bernadetta,” even after they get married. Sometimes he calls her name without the Lady attached but there are exactly Two Situations that call for this.
They have a greenhouse absolutely full of poisonous plants. It’s one of Hubert’s favorite spots to sit on a bench and enjoy her company.
Hubert uses magic to light fires for the fireplace or candles sometimes. Whenever he does this, if Bernadetta does something that makes his heart race, the fire gets brighter or hotter. Sometimes he has to ask her to stop so he can extinguish the fireplace/blow the candles out or else he’ll burn their castle down.
According to their ending they primarily reside in Varley. I imagine that they go to Enbarr for work a few times a year for a couple weeks at a time and when they do, they stay in Vestra Towers, which has been Hubert’s residence since he was young. In Varley, Hubert had the castle ripped apart from the inside and redone entirely, so it wouldn’t look like where his wife grew up.
I can post spicier ones too if there’s a Market for such a thing hehe but I hope this sparks joy!

shifting stars
Louter doesn’t welcome change with open arms. But with the world changing, he starts to see that some changes aren’t just inevitable; they’re worth embracing.
‧₊˚✧ TURNING POINT 2025 ENTRY ✧˚₊‧ pairing louterstella x reader word count 1.6k words tags post under the same sky (fanon episode 2), hurt/comfort, good ending navigation
Louterstella isn’t fond of change—especially the big, sweeping kind.
The stars, his trusted guides, map the future for him with reassuring clarity. He finds comfort in their constant presence, prophecies allowing him to prepare for what’s to come. The world might be unpredictable, but at least he can brace himself for the best or the worst.
But some changes, no matter how much one prepares, still hit like storm.
The recent SEED attack left scars. Not only on the castle grounds but on the hearts of those who call it home. The loss of Klark’s trusted aide weighs heavily on on Klark the most, and the finalization of the Blue Bouquet alliance deepens the sense that nothing will ever be the same.
“Inevitable” is the word that often comes to mind, but for Louter, it feels more like “overwhelming.”
Klark throws himself into his work, distracting himself with diplomatic matters and endless mechanical tinkering. The grief he carries might not be visible to anyone but it is to Louter. So he lets him process things by taking work off of him, leaving Louter with unexpected time to recover from the magical strain of the constant barrier creation. For once, he is free to step away from the responsibilities that tether him to the castle and its tower.
Thus begins his afternoon walks into town. At first, it was curiosity that leads him to venturing outside, wondering how much the town has changed ever since the attack.
The first thing he notices is the sky. How open and boundless it seems without the machinery Klark dispatched cluttering the view. The second is the townsfolk, their faces lit with cautious smiles, relief softening the tension that once haunted their expressions.
And then there is the apothecary. It’s a small shop tucked into a quiet corner, a new addition to the town’s cobblestone streets.
Louter stumbles upon it during an afternoon walk, its bright wooden sign catching his eye. The soft tinkle of a bell greets him as he pushes the door open, and a faint blend of citrus and lavender wafts out to meet him.
From behind the counter, you emerge, smiling warmly as you welcome him. The shop is cozy but surprisingly spacious, with two small round tables accompanied by mismatched chairs for patrons. Shelves line the walls, brimming with bottles of potions and jars of dried herbs. Potted plants dangle from hooks, their vines adding a vibrant touch to the calming atmosphere.
You are attentive and friendly, answering Louter’s questions as he scans the shelves. When you offer him a sample of your medicinal herb tea, he finds himself purchasing two boxes, murmuring something about sharing them with Klark during tea time.
It doesn’t take him long to realize you aren’t from the kingdom. After the borders reopened, you drifted here, drawn by the kingdom’s peace and charm.
Over shared tea and the occasional cakes you insist he try, you speak of the kingdom you’ve left behind and the wonders you’ve seen on your travels across the continent. Your stories are full of quiet longing for peace and appreciation for the simple beauty of your new home.
Louter, in turn, finds himself opening up in ways he doesn’t expect—sharing details about the kingdom’s history, its quirks, and even his fears about the changes brought by the Blue Bouquet alliance.
Your shop becomes a sanctuary for him. A place where he can escape the tower’s weight and the relentless demands of diplomacy. He becomes a regular visitor, stopping by for his medicinal tea (which he tells himself is purely for recovery) and lingering to chat with you about bits and pieces of his life.
That marks the start of your unlikely friendship.
One quiet afternoon, when the weight of everything feels unbearable, Louter’s mask of composure slips. His voice, usually calm and measured, cracks as he confesses, “I feel weak. Like I’m not strong enough to be the knight this kingdom needs.” His words hang heavy in the air.
You meet his vulnerability with an unexpected gentleness, your tone steady but firm. “Strength isn’t a single definition, Louter. It’s like beauty—subjective, personal. Strength looks and feels different depending on who wields it. Yours isn’t in brute force or flashy heroics. It’s in your unwavering dedication, your kindness, and your quiet resolve.”
Something shifts in his expression, a flicker of recognition, though doubt still lingers in his eyes.
“I swear, I’ll do things differently this time,” he says, his voice thick with regret. His gaze is distant, as if replaying memories he wishes he could erase. “I let my fear of change blind me. To the kingdom, to its people. To Klark. I… I cost him someone he cared about. Someone who wasn’t me.”
The admission feels like an open wound, and for a moment, silence envelops the room. But then, as if sensing his need for solace, you speak.
“Change can be terrifying,” you say softly, your eyes searching his. “But it’s also the beginning of something better. Fear of change shackles us, makes us shortsighted. Yet, in the grander scheme, change often leads to growth, to brighter horizons. The choices we make—good or bad—are part of a larger picture. And there’s always hope if you know where to look.”
Your words settle over him, realistic but oddly reassuring. For the first time in a long while, Louter feels the tight grip of despair loosening, even if just a little.
But with that reassurance comes an unwelcome revelation. It sneaks up on him, uninvited and unrelenting. He’s falling for you.
And he doesn’t want to.
The thought terrifies him more than any SEED attack ever could. He doesn’t want your friendship to change, doesn’t want the sanctuary of your apothecary to become complicated with emotions he doesn’t know how to handle. So, he pushes the feelings aside, burying them beneath his duty to Klark, his twin, and his role as the Knight of Lord Lala.
But fate, as always, has other plans.
One afternoon, the apothecary’s familiar calm is disrupted by the arrival of some of Blue Bouquet. Their presence feels like an intrusion, a reminder of the change Louter is still grappling with. And yet, there you are, ever the gracious shopkeeper, welcoming them with the same warmth you’ve shown him.
He hates it.
His sanctuary, his oasis, feels like it’s slipping through his fingers. For a brief, irrational moment, he wants to gatekeep it, to gatekeep you. But the feelings he refuses to name cloud his judgment, and the tension builds until it erupts.
Somehow, he doesn’t enjoy how you pamper Willmesh and Kurode. Especially not how Cielomort makes you laugh. It’s like the “things” you share with him feel invaded.
So, he pushes you away. Pushes his feelings even deeper.
In his desperation to keep things as they were, Louter avoids you—not with malice, but with the fear of losing the one place and person who's given him solace.
"Don’t give me space. That’s the last thing I want from you," you say to him during his first visit after weeks of avoiding you. The words catch him off guard, piercing through his defenses like an unrelenting arrow.
He’s been miserable. More irritable than Klark could ever be.
He had only meant to catch a glimpse of you through the shop window, but before he knows it, he’s inside, standing before you with a pained expression.
“You’re in my head. You’re everywhere, even when you’re not supposed to be,” Louter confesses, his voice cracking. “It shouldn’t be this hard to let my feelings go. But they’re here. And I’m sorry.”
You take a step closer, your eyes searching his.
“I could never be mad at you, Louterstella,” you say softly, your voice a balm to his frayed nerves. You reach out, tucking a stray strand of hair away from his face, your hand lingering for just a moment against his cheek.
Before your hand falls to your side, he catches it. Gently, he guides your hand back to his face, pressing it against his cheek as he leans into your touch, eyes fluttering closed.
For a moment, the world feels still—just the two of you in the quiet of the apothecary. He opens his eyes, gazing at you with a vulnerability he’s never shown before. Then, without breaking eye contact, he lifts your hand to his lips and presses a soft kiss to your knuckles.
“I think I might just like you… too much,” Louter whispers, his voice barely audible but heavy with meaning.
A soft chuckle escapes your lips, and your smile, warm and tender, feels like the dawn breaking after a long, cold night.
Louter thinks of change—how terrifying it’s always been for him. But as he looks at you, he realizes not all change is to be feared. Some change, like the feelings blooming in his chest, is worth embracing.
And in this quiet moment, he makes a silent vow: to treasure your smile, your laughter, your presence in his life.
No matter what the stars might say, this is one change he’s ready to accept and willing to fight for.
amari's notes: in my head, this fic happens after the "under the same sky" fic i wrote for klarkstella. the contrast between the two fics in terms of vibe is really evident but i kinda thought that it just fits the twins. there's this chaos that klark carries and there's this serenity to louter, both i tried to highlight. in short, i love them both! anyway, I’d love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to leave a reply or drop an ask or even a request! ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡

First post of the year!
Hi I missed being here, I felt a little withdrawn and introverted a little too hard around December but it wasn't enough to deviate me from my goals for the year and my exams-
2025's goal is to do the bare minimum but consistently! I did study, followed the news everyday, I am so happy with the truce in Gaza the Palestinian's deserve all the love more than anything else my heart goes out for them <3

Currently working on (In my 'sowing the habits' era)
Completing 12 months+ 2025s 4 months (till April) worth of current affairs compilation from monthly magazines
Extensive academic reading list to be done in February without fail
Low impact workout- I've chose walking 7k steps 5 days a week and switching between yoga-pilates and some light weights but 3 times a week only!
I've become more regular with my scalp massages, still struggling with the hair area a lot :(
My screen time needs to be 2hrs per day still, I use youtube a lot but I've downloaded audios as mp3 files and now I listen to all my youtube stuff without the screen being on.
I've quit all short form of content completely- shorts, reels etc is just not for me! This is the year we're fighting short attention span content.
I've to create a goodreads list for the year- my focus area is surely diplomacy and international relations/foreign affairs :)
I want to look really good this year, achieve my dream aesthetic, face, hair and body (I already have those but I need to fine tune it!) so I'll definitely do some light clean girl makeup every other day to see what's working out and what isn't!
That's that for today, I will be updating what goes on in my life more and regularly now onwards. I think 2025 is my introversion year (every odd year is tbf) and this will serve me good I know.

ROBERT REICH
JAN 31
Friends,
The following is by Jean Chrétien, who served as prime minister of Canada from 1993 to 2003. It appeared in The Globe and Mail, Canada’s most widely read newspaper, on January 11, 2025.
Canadians will never give up the best country in the world to join the U.S.
Jean Chrétien
Today is my 91st birthday.
It’s an opportunity to celebrate with family and friends. To look back on the life I’ve had the privilege to lead. And to reflect on how much this country we all love so much has grown and changed over the course of the nine decades I’ve been on this Earth.
This year, I’ve also decided to give myself a birthday present. I’m going to do something in this article that I don’t do very often anymore, and sound off on a big issue affecting the state of the nation and profoundly bothering me and so many other Canadians: The totally unacceptable insults and unprecedented threats to our very sovereignty from U.S. president-elect Donald Trump.
I have two very clear and simple messages.
To Donald Trump, from one old guy to another: Give your head a shake! What could make you think that Canadians would ever give up the best country in the world — and make no mistake, that is what we are — to join the United States?
I can tell you Canadians prize our independence. We love our country. We have built something here that is the envy of the world — when it comes to compassion, understanding, tolerance and finding a way for people of different backgrounds and faiths to live together in harmony.
We’ve also built a strong social safety net — especially with public health care — that we are very proud of. It’s not perfect, but it’s based on the principle that the most vulnerable among us should be protected.
This may not be the “American Way” or “the Trump Way.” But it is the reality I have witnessed and lived my whole long life.
If you think that threatening and insulting us is going to win us over, you really don’t know a thing about us. You don’t know that when it came to fighting in two world wars for freedom, we signed up — both times — years before your country did. We fought and we sacrificed well beyond our numbers.
We also had the guts to say no to your country when it tried to drag us into a completely unjustified and destabilizing war in Iraq.
We built a nation across the most rugged, challenging geography imaginable. And we did it against the odds.
We may look easy-going. Mild-mannered. But make no mistake, we have spine and toughness.
And that leads me to my second message, to all our leaders, federal and provincial, as well as those who are aspiring to lead our country: Start showing that spine and toughness. That’s what Canadians want to see — what they need to see. It’s called leadership. You need to lead. Canadians are ready to follow.
I know the spirit is there. Ever since Mr. Trump’s attacks, every political party is speaking out in favour of Canada. In fact, it is to my great satisfaction that even the Bloc Québécois is defending Canada.
But you don’t win a hockey game by only playing defence. We all know that even when we satisfy one demand, Mr. Trump will come back with another, bigger demand. That’s not diplomacy; it’s blackmail.
We need another approach — one that will break this cycle.
Mr. Trump has accomplished one thing: He has unified Canadians more than we have been ever before! All leaders across our country have united in resolve to defend Canadian interests.
When I came into office as prime minister, Canada faced a national unity crisis. The threat of Quebec separation was very real. We took action to deal with this existential threat in a manner that made Canadians, including Quebeckers, stronger, more united and even prouder of Canadian values.
Now there is another existential threat. And we once again need to reduce our vulnerability. That is the challenge for this generation of political leaders.
And you won’t accomplish it by using the same old approaches. Just like we did 30 years ago, we need a Plan B for 2025.
Yes, telling the Americans we are their best friends and closest trading partner is good. So is lobbying hard in Washington and the state capitals, pointing out that tariffs will hurt the American economy too. So are retaliatory tariffs — when you are attacked, you have to defend yourself.
But we also have to play offence. Let’s tell Mr. Trump that we too have border issues with the United States. Canada has tough gun control legislation, but illegal guns are pouring in from the U.S. We need to tell him that we expect the United States to act to reduce the number of guns crossing into Canada.
We also want to protect the Arctic. But the United States refuses to recognize the Northwest Passage, insisting that it is an international waterway, even though it flows through the Canadian Arctic as Canadian waters. We need the United States to recognize the Northwest Passage as being Canadian waters.
We also need to reduce Canada’s vulnerability in the first place. We need to be stronger. There are more trade barriers between provinces than between Canada and the United States. Let’s launch a national project to get rid of those barriers! And let’s strengthen the ties that bind this vast nation together through projects such as real national energy grid.
We also have to understand that Mr. Trump isn’t just threatening us; he’s also targeting a growing list of other countries, as well as the European Union itself, and he is just getting started.
Canada should quickly convene a meeting of the leaders of Denmark, Panama, Mexico, as well as with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, to formulate a plan for fighting back these threats.
Every time that Mr. Trump opens his mouth, he creates new allies for all of us. So let’s get organized! To fight back against a big, powerful bully, you need strength in numbers.
The whole point is not to wait in dread for Donald Trump’s next blow. It’s to build a country and an international community that can withstand those blows.
Canadians know me. They know I am an optimist. That I am practical. And that I always speak my mind. I made my share of mistakes over a long career, but I never for a moment doubted the decency of my fellow Canadians — or of my political opponents.
The current and future generations of political leaders should remember they are not each other’s enemies — they are opponents. Nobody ever loved the cut-and-thrust of politics more than me, but I always understood that each of us was trying to make a positive contribution to make our community or country a better place.
That spirit is more important now than ever, as we address this new challenge. Our leaders should keep that in mind.
I am 91 today and blessed with good health. I am ready at the ramparts to help defend the independence of our country as I have done all my life.
Vive le Canada!

The week of February 10-14, 2025
We start the week with Fairness, Diplomacy, Problem-Solving This King embodies the intellect, philosophy, & creativity of the suit. An ability to function in those “higher graces” means this king is the ‘go to’ energy when you need linear, big picture, problem solving. He isn’t as distant or unattached as he seems, he’s just hard-wired to put ideals before people. Rest assured that his devotion, emotional intellect, wisdom, and capacity to love are as hard-wired as his ideals. 💚 At work, if there is person like this who leaves you feeling irritated or otherwise diminished, consider this person's personality in its entirety and/or the requirements of their position before you take offence. They may just be straightforward. 💙 If you find that you or your partner are forcefully opinionated, try to secure & respect boundaries. Focus on the intellectual rather than the emotional, & stay assertive, not aggressive. 🧡 Wherever the King appears, the situation will require his type of skill. Employ creative solutions, be considerate of the emotions of the others involved, & the success of the situation will be yours.
MIDWEEK with the full moon on Wednesday, is about Success, Truth, & Instinct This King embodies confidence & authority. He is wise, & respected for his worldly experience. He is the father of nature, the seat of earthly desires, & a source of the will to live life to the fullest. He asks you to embrace your true nature, & indulge or restrain, to your highest good. 💚 Key to work success may be an older, established man. He responds well to others who share his lust for life but keep the balance that works for you. You may also receive a financial windfall, promotion, or income increase. 💙 Make time to enjoy your partner in genuine, natural ways; eat some rich food, drink a little wine, & revel in each other's bodies. Ignore what you can. Prioritize each other. 🧡 The call of earthly pleasures will likely be distracting today. By all means, focus on things that need to get done but there is nothing wrong with listening to that call whenever you can. Live, Love, Laugh. You can’t fight Father Nature… We approach the weekend with the effects of the full moon still with us...literally. The Moon indicates that something in your life isn’t what it seems. You may find it difficult to understand the motivations & behaviours of yourself & others. Take a breath & try to let things unfold. This is not the time to force things, or people, to an end. Trust things will come to the best outcome – even where you can’t see how.
Fortunately, your extra senses are geared up to make up for your lack of ‘vision’. Be ‘in the moment’ and trust your instincts on issues and people. They may be the key to knowing which step to take next. The Moon can also indicate a delay in an answer you are waiting for. Remain patient and don’t push; let the Universe work its magic. 💚 At work, things may seem unclear & a little shaky. Give yourself, & others the benefit of the doubt – especially if there hasn’t been a reason not to before now. Patience is key. Ask questions, assume nothing, & be diplomatic. 💙 Whether you are in a relationship or not, this is likely to be a tense time. You may find that anger is quicker than passion so, try to avoid fighting if it’s at all reasonable. If it’s not, fight fairly. If you find yourself dealing with an ‘ex’, be calm, patient, but definite about your position. 🧡 However the Moon shows itself , you have all the skills to adapt in the moment. Just as you would in a dark, or moonlit room, look carefully, tread cautiously, & rely on your instincts.
Gus an ath thuras (Until next time), darlings Peace out

Department of State - Project 2025’s Vision for America’s Diplomatic Corps: Potential Concerns and Critiques
In writing my articles, I am seeking to ensure that we are all informed about the potential changes to the country under Project 2025
This Article begins my series on the potential impact of Project 2025 on each of the cabinet departments. To be forewarned is to be forearmed and we need to KNOW what is coming! Project 2025 presents a vision for restructuring the U.S. Department of State to address contemporary global challenges. However, this proposal, though ambitious and forward-looking, raises several concerns among experts…
