The bad kids are an incredibly healthy and supportive friend group BUT OH MY GOD THEY SUCK AT COMMUNICATING!
Half of their problems would be solved if they talked to each other.
Fabian would GLADLY pay for Adaine's components and for Riz's tuition if they asked. He would even get his papa to change his trust fund conditions to include them. Or he would declare Riz and Adaine his nemesis.
They would figure out the reason for Fig's misfortune in a week max. They would march into hell, probably accompanied by both Gorthalax and Sandra Lynn, and demand to break whatever deal she made with whichever demon involved.
If Fabian even suggested he was lonely, the bad kids would organise sleepovers every night. He would circle between the Thistlesprings, the Gukgaks and the Mordred Manor. Lydia would pack him his own lunch.
Fig would immediately start promoting Cassandra's religion on all social media, and get her to thousand followers in a week. The rest of the bad kids would join without hesitation.
If Riz would finally admit the HUGE stress he is under, everyone, even Fig, would stop piling all the work on him and happily write their 10 page essays. They would convince him to see Jawbone, and enjoy his last years in high school. They would band together to find the rogue teacher within a day. They would make sure that Riz's resume is the most impressive CV that the universities have ever received.
They would all gather together to come up with music for Fig and Gorgug's new album. Fabian would choreograph their music videos, Adaine would come up with rhymes, Riz would bring a list of all their adventures, including motifs and connections made, to give her inspiration, Kristen would suggest to make parodies of classic camp songs from her old church.
Adaine would contact Aelwyn immediately to get dirt on Porter, to blackmail him. Gorgug would get permission for his MCAT exams by the end of the week.
And if she would stay on the phone a little longer and admitted how much she is struggling, Aelwyn would immediately return home along with her cats. Then she would drag her sister to Jawbone's door, and force her to give him the components list.
The problem is that even after all those years, after all those adventures, even after the forest of the nightmare king, they still each think of themselves as the weak link. As the person in the group that isn't allowed, doesnt deserve to take space, ask for help. Because they should be able to handle it on their own. Isn't that what adulthood is like?
They would abandon anything and everything to help someone else, as long as that person isn't themselves. As long as they dont have to show their amazing, incredible, powerful, and oh so compassionate friends how weak and imperfect they are in comparison.

the fantasy high junior year theme song from sarah barrios is a banger but it is funny when the episode cuts from "it's our time! it's our year!" to the bad kids like "our personal and academic lives are in shambles"

When Sklonda Gukgak told Riz about their financial situation, she said that it wasn’t his friends’ fault that they were going to have an easier time going to college because of their financial stability. She was worried that Riz’s anxiety would make him bitter toward his friends, but instead he used that anxiety to help his friends succeed. Enter The Rat Grinders. He sees people succeeding by taking the easy way out, and a completely new side of Riz, full of envious rage, comes out. In a moment when he has a target he can be hostile toward, we see all of Riz’s anger at the inequity he is facing. It makes you wonder how he really feels when he sees Fabian partying and Fig cutting class, knowing that he could never afford the luxury of taking the easy route.

I know in Fantasy High it’s not super touched on how religion works outside of clerics but does anyone else think it’s crazy that Riz at least isn’t a follower of Cassandra.
Like there is a character who needs more followers for her god of mystery and the night and in her party is a kid who is a private investigator, obsessed with solving mysteries, stays up all night and uses the shadow blade.
Not to mention how the unknown and the comfort of the unclear night is such a good metaphor for adventuring. They are constantly solving mysteries and going into the edge of the world and learning how complicated the world is. Idk it feels weird how like in a world with real gods who have specific domains, all the bad kids aren’t followers of Cassandra or at least discuss their religious affiliations more.

saw a post by @/cariocake saying smth along the lines of "i hope Bucky's adventuring party is patient with him"
and like!! fuckin please,,,
i hope Bucky's party sees him for the kid he really is
devout (ish?) follower of Helio, yes. crossing a line with the whole "conversion" talk, definitely.
but up to his neck in a religion cult that prioritizes lofty ideals over the individual, religious trauma he's yet to unpack, and experiencing a community completely different from the one he grew up with for the very first time (and supposedly "straying" according to one buddy dawn)
I hope they can see Bucky as the Bad Kids saw Kristen in freshman year. Fucked up, annoying, but with a good heart. And I hope that his party members help him overcome the parts of his childhood that he may discover he doesn't like. You can't pick your family, but you can pick your friends.

Ok, so deductions so far: "It's the only name I can say."
-Kalina is trying to push the bad kids towards information from someone she entered into a spy's tongue curse with.
-The person is in some way connected to Ragh.
-Kalina can say Lydia's name, so the bad kids' initial idea that Kalina was talking about Lydia is wrong.
So, there are a few options for people who are Ragh adjacent:
Ragh is a barbarian, Porter was his teacher; Fig could finally be right about her Porter suspicion.
Ragh saw Jace and Arianwen at the school in freshman year and mentioned it to the bad kids, Jace's inability to become interim principal is really funny so I think he's the more comical choice, but Arianwen going for another power grab (and revenge) by getting the favor of a dead God is possible.
Uh, that racist elf from spring break Ragh hooked up with, probably not a real option, but I'm running out of ideas.

as much as i am a #kalina defender. there is a lottttt of evidence pointing to her betraying cassandra.
i mean, why is she in a spies tongue curse with porter and jace?
why did she bring cassandra to the astral realm where she would be vulnerable?
i am so confused by her. what’s that little kitty doing

WE'VE ESTABLISHED THAT TEACHERS CAN LOW-KEY MULTI-CLASS
you know who has plenty of time to be the rogue professor on the side??
the professor who 1) self-admittedly has very little job to do, 2) scored the VP position, 3) was seen talking with Kalina after prom, 4) Yolanda confided in right before she died
JACE "HE'S JUST A GUY" STARDIAMOND HAS TWO MOTHERFUCKING JOBS....

So, the wedding stuff in the latest episode explains the "She is at my side once more" line from the end of the mall fight. At first I thought it was like a demon that proto-Cassandra did a deal with to survive as the Nightmare king, but that is not the case.
Currently, my primary theory on the God's domain is/was Justice, because yeah anger is at play but it is consistently in reaction to an injustice: Riz and the grinding, Cassandra's whole deal but also being unable to say the word fair without threatening to break apart again, and Kristen with like her parents' unfair treatment of her younger brother. And I think the Rage has more to do with Lydia's method of controlling Bakur than necessarily Cassandra's late husband, but I could so easily be wrong again.

You know what fucks me up the most? Them changing their party name from The High 5 Heroes to Rat Grinders. Presumably after Lucy's murder. It's such a final fuck you to her memory.
She was being forced to change her deity which was extremely important for her and her people. She was killed by the people she trusted. Her body was desecrated so it couldn't be resurrected and hidden away. She was just a last minute addition to the in memoriam and they didnt care to reprint the books. Her party didn't even pretend to mourn her death and immediately replaced her. And that is horrible.
But there something extra evil with them changing their name to Rat Grinders. She tried so much to help the innocent and heal the animals that her party mercilessly killed, but her name will be forever now associated with the party's name, with the barbarism that she tried to prevent. What a final insult to her memory and legacy.
Lucy Frostblade of the Rat Grinders, you deserved so much better.

the funniest thing brennan could do is not only reverse the fates of fig and gilear and put fig in her girlfailure era but to also run with the bit from sophomore year and make gilear become the Chosen One

It took a week of seething about Fabian’s cold shoulder to Adaine to realize it, but Fabian’s need to be the center of attention right now is absolutely the most realistic reaction for his character. He is alone in a place where he has always been the subject of adoration. His desire for validation is stronger than his empathy, and his pride is stronger than his urge to ask for help. Put this together and you get a character who resents people who don’t pay attention to him but won’t make any real moves toward bonding or understanding.
Lou is an expert at deciding which choice the character would make, not which choice they should make. After all, suffering itself makes characters sympathetic, but a good character’s reaction to suffering is often going to be anything but.

i was writing some gilear propaganda but he is so pathetic that there was so much and my phone died so here are the greatest hits
-last night he couldnt get to sleep so he tried to jack off last night but was too sad so he stayed up all night eating expired yogurt
-his car got repossessed by the rideshare app he works for
-the most divorced man in the realm. cucked in his first marriage by a demon from the nine hells called gortholax the insatiable who was trapped inside a ruby at the time
-passed over for guidance counsellor at his daughters school for a drug dealing werewolf named jawbone
-jawbone was objectively better at the job than gilear ever would be. and also later got with his ex-wife
-(trying to talk to a woman hes interested in) "sklonda i'll level with you: i recently found out that one of my shoes is so filled with mildew from a leak in my apartment that i have this new kind of foot fungus, and my doctor says..." "thats a nat 20 charisma?"
-gortholax the insatiable later got with sklonda also
-got hired as the lunch "lad" instead. his daughter fig set up a tip jar to try and boost his moxie but all he received was written cruelty
-somehow became vice principal
-soon fired as vice principal and demoted to "intern" on fig and her friends' spring break quest
-"gilear do you want some elven whey bread?" "ah, no id better not i cant afford it." "im giving it to you, its a gift." "i know, but if i eat it then ill remember how it tastes and i wont be able to get any of it later"
-died no less than 4 times on said quest (maybe more i cant remember)
-the first time was after having his face used as a launchpad by his stepson fabian to get advantage on an attack roll. fabian "got advantage from jumping but also got disadvantage, cause its gilear, so it cancels out"
-fabian wants to kill him. his mother (gilears girlfriend) makes gilear sleep in the garage
-the second time was upon taking ambient damage from a rain of hellfire immediately upon following his daughter to the nine hells ass moral/legal support
-the third time was after a sarcophagus he was hiding in was shot from a canon
-last time was when he clipped the tip of his penis putting on the armour of the sin of pride. he almost survived because he has no pride but then he started feeling good about how he was doing and immediately died and his body was spat out naked into the forest of the nightmare king. hes hung btw
-(unprompted) "mm, this yogurt tastes exactly like potatoes!" "gilear thats potatoes" "what?" "youre eating mashed potatoes" "ah.. another 'own goal' for gilear faeth..."
-got all jammed up in the wheel well of a van while "trying to do a little trick for himself" and let his bare foot touch the morning dew while reversing very slowly and eating an apple at the same time
anyway. gilearsweep!!
God they're really jsut throwing this poor fuck into the washing machine over there huh?

something something Kristen Applebees being the chosen one of Helio, son of Sol something something Ankarna's uncorrupted domain being the Sun and Justice something something something something Kristen being a part of the group of heroes to "bring back the day" from the Night Yorb something something something something something Kristen bringing back Ankarna to her original domain being the ultimate act of Justice AND Destiny
ok but like just saying,, if the Bad Kids do end up uncorrupting (is that a word?) Ankarna, Kristen will have played a crucial role in the development/rise of a goddess of the sun.
she was raised her whole life to believe she was "chosen" by divinity for some purpose or reason (which was never clear) and when she changed her faith i think everyone was a lil quick to dismiss that.
all this to say,,
Kristen IS the chosen one of a sun god, just not Helio/Sol
