watching tua s4 knowing fully how its going to disappoint me rn and something that keeps bothering me is just how awful it is that they dont show what happens during the 6 year time skip.

like in season 2 we get to see an abridged version of how everyone got to where they are. this allowed for me as viewer to at least undertsand the reasoning behind the siblings' actions and conflicts. but in season 4 there is just none of that.

instead we only get to see the after of the timeskip. Whatever bits we do hear abt the time in between are extremly limited because they are things that are told to us from biased/flawed/one-sided perspectives. I as a viewer do not get a clear idea of why any of the 8 charcters of the main cast change the way they do becuase i am never shown how this change ocurred. its more i am told things and have to accept because of the 6 year gap.

lila and diego's strained marriage is actually i think the only they showed without telling to an extent. but it still would have also been nice to see thier struggles transitioning to suburbia and would also aid me to better understand why neither of them tried to find an adequate balance in the 6 years. also like why is diego working as a delivery driver? in my mind it makes more sense for him to be a mediocre private investgator or something like that? idk just some more context behind the tension and thier decsions (especially lila dear god dont even get me started) would have been wonderful

viktor's journey to Canada and his distancing from the others sounded interesting and i would have loved to see that on screen. he clearly is unable to form long lasting intamate relationships and showing his life in the time gap would have been a great way to show his journey of accepting the loss of sissy.

allison was definitely hit hard by the lack of explanation. i understand the scheduling issues with raymond's actor but it truly was a heavy blow to season 3 allison actions when they just said he left with no other explanation. most of her conflicts in season 3 were motivated by the loss of claire and raymond and you are telling me she just lost 50% of that a year afterwards? and like this doesnt get mentioned until episode 3??

i actually enjoyed klaus's shift to a risk averse person and it did make sense to me after losing his immortality to become more aware of not only his but his loved ones mortality. the biggest glaring issue is the one everyone has talked about: the lack of dave. i think if they had shown klaus trying to find info on dave and/or even visiting his grave in the timeskip it would been fine with me that he wouldn't mention dave that much. but the dog tags being on screen and him not saying anything is actually inasne??? also it sounds like there was definitely more to his sobriety than what they have told sad that we didnt get to see that storyline....

everyone has said thier piece on how luther just mentioning sloane and then no other explanation is actually awful. like a simple flashback fo luther searching and finding sloane living a different life would have been better than them giving us nothing💀

ben i actually have nothing to say...it would have been silly to see the crypto scam ig. also an explanation of why they even showed the other ben the post credit of the s3 finale i think is warranted. like even a mention of yeah there is probably another ben who belongs to this universe walking around would have been okay ig

five oh where to even begin.... first of all how tf does a person who isnt even in thier 20s even get a gig at the cia. i know they said some bullahit abt five being a part of a relative young group/recruit (cant remember the exact wording) but like a person who is younger than 19 getting a job at the cia is a bit much. also i actually refuse to belive that five wouldn't have figured out his boss was part of the keepers there is just no way. after the handler and reggie i refuse to belive that five would lose his suspicion towards authority figures. i think the only authority figure he has ever listened to was the founder version of himself and even that took time. like if you want me to believe that bs then show me how five turned his brain into mush in the 6 year time skip. either that or show how me his loneliness in those six year because from what i have right now five worked at the cia and that is it nothing else. like from what i have been told by the show nothing else happended to him besides working. which if thier implication is that he was only working and drifted apart from his siblings that message was not clear enough to me as viewer and would have been alot clearer if i was shown such as thing.

I was doing an el filibusterismo assignment when i randomly got my ass to draw Maria Sirena and Benedict Inkwell💀 (yes, thats their spanish colonial era names XD)

Maybe drop in a some lore,

Maria Sirena De La Mar y Noche

-a beautiful yet cautious and fierce Filipina woman, she doesnt trust any of the Spaniards nor any other nationalities who come to Las Filipinas. She is also known as Maria Sirena. She has a beautiful singing voice and some colorful talents. She often spend late nights to do art. Her family has been in good contact with the town's Kura Paroko (parish priest), though, she dislikes him especially whenever she catches him staring at her. One day, a group of American friends spot her on a warm afternoon and they try to befriend her. Especially that man with a blue three-piece suit, a red bow tie and a fedora hat... (Also, if you know the story of either Maria Clara or Juli in El Fili, yk whats gonna happen to Maria Sirena, except she has a good ending compared to the aforementioned two characters)

Benedict Inkwell

-a famous artist in America who draws portraits of people in black paint and a white canvas. He also does inky portraits and pencil portraits. He didnt plan to go to Las Filipinas but his friends, Boris Connor, and his wife--which is also a friend-- Alice Connor (nee Angel) convinced him. They also tagged along the twin brothers Carlos and Manuel Blanco, and Manuel's girlfriend, Cala Maria Lithos. Benedict is often teased by his friends by calling him his famous nickname "Bendy" because he gets a lot of troubles as a child

Other characters

Boris Connor - Benedict's childhood friend and best friend. He is a married wolf. He is a Jack of all trades, meaning he can do any work and any occupation (Like Bert frlm Mary Poppins) and is also a Magician. He likes playing the Clarinet. American.

Alice Connor nee Angel - Boris' beautiful singing wife. Also a childhood friend of Benedict. She can play the piano and cooks very well. She is very friendly and open minded. American.

Carlos Jose Diego Blanco y Fernandez - the older twin brother. He likes collecting old stuff, especially vintage plates and cups. He is very good at wielding guns. Spanish. He is part of the Guardia Civil, to serve and protect the people--like his (retired) grandfather.

Manuel Alejandro Francisco Blanco y Fernandez - The younger twin brother. Also has a hobby of collecting vintage dishes like his brother. Spanish. He has a girlfriend. Good at wielding guns too, especially the sniper rifles. He is part of the Guardia Civil, to serve and protect the people--like his (retired) grandfather.

Cala Maria Lithos - A famous singer and Maxwell's girlfriend. Greek. She has strong eyes (idk how to put mataray into english lol) which sometimes makes people assume she is a bossy and rude person. But after her fame and people got to know her, her eyes became a part of her charm.

Also note: all of the characters' powers here; bendy's ink manipulation, siren's mermaid tail and soul manipulation abilities, cuphead and mugman's fingerguns, cala's gorgon stare, are all REMOVED. Nobody has powers here, only guns, gunpowder, fire, knives and voices.

The funner answer was rhe barbie movie ost since me and my friends literally just got back from it n my friend mariana had me play it in the car. When the Angels Left the Old Country

I haven't touched it in a hot sec, but its a queer, historical fantasy ya book based in jewish folklorex about an angel and a demon that leave europe, after a girl goes missing from the village they've set up shop in. It's very light and whimsical which is not my usual fare, but I'm enjoying it! Its very heartfelt and the two main leads have very good chemistry. And its always cool to see angel/demon lore outside the usual christian sphere.

For manga: steel ball run (part 7 of jojos bizarre adventure) its. A story about a cross continental horse race to find the body parts of jesus. Which is the most coherent way i can put it. Im rereading it w two of my friends rn and im enjoying it! It isnt my favorite part, but its up there, and features some of the best stuff in the series. This is. Also a story featuring a pair of ride or die protagonists with a very strong dynamic and chemistry (honestly, best 'set' of protags in the series) and so much comes from their bond. Its at the point in the series where it started getting a monthly release and it shows, w some rlly gorgeous art. Gyro and Diego are highlights artwise because the former doesnt have a stand he just. Has these steel balls he spins and throws around, so you get very dynamic shots of him just. Chucking them that the author uses in super creative ways to lead the eye and compose panels and the latter. Can turn himself and other things into dinosaurs. Have you ever seen a dinosaur ride a horse? Its fucking sick. It also has some interesting themes of american imperialism and christianity, of all things, which i think are done, well in some respects, esp given the authors track record. IT ALSO HAS SOME OF THE WORST STUFF IN THE SERIES THAT MAKES ME WANT TO KILL HIM W HAMMERS.

Jfc jojos bizarre adventure is holding me at gunpoint. Its not good its not bad (besides when it is) it its own tier of media. I forgot how much 15 year old me was obsessed w it and so i foolishly rewatched it thinking id be. Normal. I was wrong. God. I've never seen anything like it! It's so clearly a passion project from someone who's very eccentric and so it goes from absurd and stupid and comedic to circling right back to being very human and poignant. Like, it's about love! And familial trauma! And prevailing in the face of great tragedy! And also killing the president because jesus told you so! It's got a myriad of flaws from technical writing issues to genuinely tasteless/bigoted content, so its not some untouchable media, but ive been enjoying it a lot.

Part 5 and 8 are my favorites for very different reasons.

Part 5, Golden Wind, is abt a bunch of weird mobsters on a roadtrip through italy to kill their boss. It has a very charming supporting cast who are a sort of found family of societal rejects, brought together by this guy named Bruno who acts as a leader + mentor + sort of dad? To them. They're all surprisingly fleshed out characters, esp for this early on in the series, and their group dynamic, combined w some of the best fights in the entire show, really sell this part. The main character and main villain are. Not good. Sans a few aspects. Tho. Like i forget giorno is there half the time. (Giorno is my beloved stale cracker of a character but hes MY stale cracke, tho)

Part 8, Jojolion, is uh. Hm. It follows this amnesiac dude who wakes up in the dirt, as he tries to piece together the person he was. It's set in an au version of the town from part 4, w some characters being spins on old ones. Its the most recent part, and it shows. Its a lot better structured, paced, and developed compared to earlier parts. The mystery running through it has a lot of fun twists and turns, the themes are coherent, and the pace is slow, but not meandering. The supporting cast is fun (the lead's romantic interest is an actually decent jojo woman and they have a very cute relationship, and the family the main character is sort of adopted into are all fucking insane) but the real draw for me was the main character. Josuke (the second. Theres another josuke from an alternate universe in part 4, anyway) is probably my favorite jojo. I could go on about him, but compared to the others, he feels the most real? Theres this very grounded sense of frustration abt him as he tries and fails to piece together who he is, while everyone around him seems to have somethimg they need from him, or an idea of who he SHOULD be. He isnt a hero, he isnt even all that noble, hes just trying to find himself and if anyone out there loves him. He's blunt, one track minded, and is doing the jojo equivalent of spamming x to skip through all the dialogue bc hes not here for anyones shit beside his own. Jojolion somehow captures the feeling of being a weird, displaced pseudo adult trying to piece yourself together, while everything Keeps Fucking Happening. I love it so much. But by god does the ending suck hoooooly shit oh my god dude jesus christ. Fucking. I hate tohru i hate tohru i hate tohru fjcjendnxzlzm. Anyway jobin sweep

Im currently running a csm tabletop n curse of strahd game, and am in a ravenloft game. They're all very different but i love them all.

Ravenloft game is a sort of sequel to the curse of strahd game i was in a while bsck

I play pageturn (kenku paladin) and coda (changeling flavored as fallen angel, bard). Ones a 13 year old w a kill drive going through a double crisis of faith while somehow being the heart of the group and the others a shapeshifting corrupted celestial, whos trying to find themself. we are currently exploring the fomain the latter was imprisoned in and have found the eye of vecna and. I am. Excited and concerned for what our wonderful dm has cooked up.

Chainsaw Man game is a high stakes office drama following the worst group of devil hunters youve ever seen. Its more episodic and light than my other games which is a nice change of pace, and i rlly like the energy our group brings to the table. I am always horrified and surprised by whatever new government supplied human rights violation they commit next! Every character is uniquely sad, while still maintaining the token csm dark comedy abt them. We are currently revisiting a mystery allll the way back from our first session and im stoked for some stuff i have planned.

Sippy Crew (curse of strahd game) is drawing to a close and ahh i could make a whole post abt how much these guys mean to me. Its been a joy dming for this group of freaks and watching as they come together not into a found family, but a group of distinctly doomed, but fiercely loyal individuals. They've had two pc deaths, even more close calls, and have lost so much, but they're pushing through like dandelions in concrete. Its genuinely the most emotionally invested ive been in a ttrpg, and am so excited, to see their journey come to a close, and will miss them dearly.

Both jojo and ttrrpgs have been a way to reconnect with friends i dont usually talk to as much, and strengthen the bonds of the friends that i do, which is why theyve hit so hard, haha.

thanks for taking the time to write all of this down. you summarize the discourse around her pretty well. i concede the point about ben, i just mentioned him because i was annoyed by how much more popular imperfect characters are when theyre male (i love sparrow ben too but you cant deny that hes a bit of a prick.)

my response is this:

i 100% believe in the first option you mentioned, which is that the viewer is meant to disagree with allison this season. sure, no one explicitly jumps up and says, "shes the villain!" but its obvious from the framing. there are all these little scenes—punching mirrors and breaking them, lashing out against strangers, constantly thinking back to claire and ray—that imply she was lowkey losing her mind, which frames her subsequent choices as being motivated by her spiralling grief than by any real sense of right and wrong. when she admits to viktor that she killed harlan, even her siblings who wanted him dead think that she went too far, but by this point she has officially stopped caring about whether her actions are moral anymore.

but even if you choose to ignore the mental health aspect of things, it still makes sense… (going to put the rest of this under read more because it gets long)

i said "she used to be a nice character then became mean" in the tags because that was what most of the complaints i saw about her were saying, but the truth is that she was a selfish person even before season 1 started. she absolutely rumored claire more than once. we only get one visual flashback of her doing so, but later on, we hear bits of audio flashbacks to all the times she used her powers, which included lines like "i heard a rumor you like broccoli" and "i heard a rumor you stopped crying." it's also implied in the same scene that she used her powers to make patrick fall in love with her, meaning that time with luther in season 3 wasnt the first time she used her powers to get around consent.

the reason she doesnt come across as selfish in the first two seasons is because she was making an active effort to be a nicer person. but thats where the detail you mentioned comes in, about how everything shes upset about resulted from her own choices, because THATS THE POINT! it means her character progression is less "she used to be nice then wasnt" and more "she used to be selfish, tried to become a better person, saw that being nice didnt improve her life, and became even worse than before." after all, why should she continue trying to be nice when her previous efforts only led to more pain? the main reason she even started her self improvement was to be a better parent to claire, and claire doesnt exist anymore!

maybe the writers could have done a better job of portraying all of that on screen. maybe i get it because i read the comics, which give more context and affected the way i view allison. the thing is, even though i dont like arguing over which of the siblings "had it worse" because reginald was shitty to all of them, its canon in the comics that allison had it the easiest because her powers let her do whatever she wanted. (there was even a small scene in tua's original script where young allison rumors reginald into letting her skip a day of training and he moves on to drilling her brothers.) her story, unlike her siblings, isnt that she had an awful childhood, but that she had everything she ever wanted as a kid, only to then grow up and learn that, actually, adults cant have anything they want and you do get judged for using mind control powers on your child.

i can still imagine someone disliking her characterization in season 3 because it goes against the self-improvement progress she made in the previous seasons. except that most of the complaints ive seen, like i mentioned, were about how she used to be so nice and how could the writers make her so mean like that! which the characters actually do address in the show, when diego makes a comment about how allison was "the nicest" and she gives him a pointed look until he clarifies "in umbrella terms" (and we all know how messy the umbrellas are) lol

i sincerely hope the writers address all of this in season 4 instead of pretending that it never happened so fans like her again. oh well, we'll see

I think its really weird when people leave mean reviews on your written work on AO3 for no good reason. Like they just disagree with your characterization of someone, you haven't written anything offensive or horrible, they just don't agree with how you view someones actions in the show.

Like do you know how many mean reviews I've left on AO3? None, because I have the mental ability to just click the back button if I've clicked on something I dont want to read.

You don't need to sit there and scream at someone who's contributing to the fandom in a productive way just because you don't agree with how someone has written a character.

That's why people stop creating new content in fandoms.

viktor's wig was shitty, like seriously, you couldn't put in any effort? at first i thought his coming out was done shittily too, but it got better. i'm good with it now, even though i had some issues at the beginning. i mean, the wardrobe change really wasn't necessary AT ALL. but i digress.

this season was really fucking trippy. reggie is a cockroach himself, he just can't fucking stay dead. i despise him.

you know what, let’s turn the angst up, some hc’s/ a borederline fic but in bullet points based off some tags i wrote on this ask which expands on the last point of this post which is based off this post (yeah i know,, its a lot off cross reference but !!!!)

to summarise points from the previous posts: s3 introducing an evil five, who convinces the hargreeves siblings that he is their five, causing them to turn on actual five, breaking his heart and causing the apocalypse. 

Somehow evil five convinces the siblings that hes their five, hes cool, calm and collected while actual five is frantic, the ever expanding fear of losing his family dawning on him causing him to panic.

this being unlike five, or at least his siblings thinking its not like him to be manic, believing evil five that actual five is merely an imposter

so evil five gives them a plan, dont let five know that they think he isnt their brother, then either luther will knock him out, or do what he did for vanya, get him unconscious and easy to move

then lock him up in one of reginalds many chambers that they were more than aware of

 So thats what they did

luther greeting five “its okay buddy, we know youre our brother” he says, giving Five the first hug he had received in 60 years

only to have his windpipes crushed, struggling against his brother who he loves ever so dearly until he passes out, tears filling his eyes as he realised, they dont believe him

he wakes up in a dark padded room, the small glass window on the door showing the glum faces of his siblings, just staring at him

in a state of desperation hed slam himself against the glass, begging them to see through evil fives facade but they dont

they just watch him as in his stressed state his powers fail on him

and then his siblings who he has killed for leave him, locked up, theyve betrayed him

the icing on the cake, evil five turning around just before stepping away and giving Five the most sinister grin and leaving

Fives heart breaks, well and truly, he can’t even think, hes so hurt its numbing, his family who he has seen die 3 times, saved them from two apocalypses, killed for and pushed himself to the limit for, dont even recognise him, cant even tell him apart from a different version of himself

and he cries, but his tears arent liquid, bright blue drops of power seep from his eyes, before turning into streams flowing from him, quickly filling up the room and licking at his skin like flames, it wasnt him who was controlling this, it was someone else but he was too weak to fight it

it takes him over, ripping down the room flowing like a stream

yet his siblings are dealing with their own dramas, evil five taking off his blazer in the car, revealing his ever so bare arms, no tattoo, no scar from removing the tracker, no nothing

klaus whispers over to diego about five having no tattoo and a harrowing feeling wracks through them, they betrayed five, their five, their five who had lived through the apocalypse for them, who had became an assassin just to get back to them, who had killed for them, they betrayed and didn’t believe him

theyd somehow deal with evil five, possibly knocking him out then just, doing something im not too sure yet

then they rush back to five, expecting to find him safe and sound in the academy yet were greeted by screaming civilians running away from town, blue waves crashing through the city

as they got closer to the source of the blue that was ripping apart buildings they expected to see Five fighting it off, only to find fives limp body suspended in the middle

“Please five, we’re sorry!” but he couldn’t hear them

and then he explodes, blue power ripping through buildings, tearing the world apart

and then it slows, speeds up, rewinds then stops

everything is still as five wakes up, heart heavy, seeing everything frozen except for one being, holding a hand out for five to take

saying how he doesnt belong here, he is the child of time after all, even possibly a child of the gods

hes been through so much pain that he doesnt deserve and its time for him to rest, finally leave the pain behind, and five takes this hand

everything starts again, time continues as the siblings look upon the spot where five was, but he was gone, only they seemed to remember the world being torn apart by their brother, everyone around them just going on with their lives

five was gone, he was missing again and it was their fault

they hoped hed come back maybe in a few days, maybe weeks

but as months passed and he didnt come back they realised the damage theyd done

how it couldve all been avoided if theyd just checked for the tattoo, or just listened 

they all drift apart, unable to be in the same room without fighting, pointing the blame at each other for their brothers disappearance

as this was going on, five would be recovering, where he belongs, able to watch over his sibling but unable to be hurt, somewhere where time doesnt pass for him, being able to return when hes ready

when his heart stops hurting

The Hargreeves siblings are dead.

Ben isn’t very aware of this at first. He’s been dead since 2006 -- he’s quite used to it, by now. What he is aware of, first, is light. Blinding white light. And Vanya, in the middle of it. He doesn’t close his eyes because he can’t feel pain, but if he could he thinks she would have made him blind. There’s light, and heat, and power, and then he closes his eyes anyway because the ceiling is collapsing around him and it’s instinctual.

When he opens them again he sees ash. Ash -- and Klaus.

He’s gotten used to Klaus, too. Klaus has a memorable sort of face; even if he didn’t, Ben has seen it every single day for almost twenty years. He doesn’t know if it’s actually been twenty years, for him. He doesn’t know how time moves for ghosts. Klaus has assured him it moves the same as it does for the living. Ben isn’t sure Klaus, stoned out of his mind, bleeding sluggishly from his arm, knew what he was talking about.

Anyway.

Klaus.

He’s wearing the coat he’s been flaunting around for the past week. His shirt is see-through, with little stars on it, like a pale imitation of the sky. Ben remembers his pants had laces on them, he’s sure they did not a minute ago, before the brightness that threatened to wipe out his very soul -- his soul is all he has left, really. His gaze drifts down anyway, to check.

Yes. Klaus’ pants have laces up the sides.

“No,” Ben says. Klaus is laying in a heap on the ground, his fingers curled like his tendons have been cut.

His lips feel numb because they always feel numb. Because Ben can’t feel at all. He takes a step. “No,” he says again, louder, surer. “No!”

Klaus looks up at him. His makeup is smudged, like it tends to be. His lips are bitten raw, like they tend to be. His hair is a mess, like it tends to be, and like it will be, always, because Klaus isn’t breathing.

Klaus is lying in a heap on the ground. Klaus is standing above his own body. Klaus is reaching for Ben like he’s hoping to touch him for the first time in years. Just when Klaus’ cold, dead, fingers brush his face, a voice from behind says, so quietly, dripping with disbelief: “Ben?”

Ben shuts his eyes and wishes desperately he could cry.

He feels a hand on his shoulder, for the first time in so, so long, but he also doesn’t feel it at all. He feels-but-doesn’t-feel someone turn him around, until they are saying, “Ben? Ben!” and he has no choice but to open his eyes and face the music.

Diego is gripping his shoulders like he is a dying man and Ben is the answer. Behind him, Luther and Allison watch them, stunned silent. Allison’s hands are pressed to her mouth. She looks like she wants to cry. 

And Vanya. Little Vanya, painted white. Her head is hung as her shoulders shake with the weight of the destruction she has so inevitably caused. (Ben would say he always knew she was destined for great things -- but he can’t, because he didn’t.) (Nobody ever said great things had to be good.)

The Hargreeves siblings are dead. Their bodies are strewn across what is left of their childhood home, smouldering and burning, and Ben is very aware of that fact.

1) they go back in time because math checking and the ghosts swap out for their past selves

after multiple years of being stuck in an apocalypse together i think they would learn to get along with each other. like at least a little bit

which would make it easier for them to prevent the apocalypse

bc theyd:

trust each other more

already know abt the apocalypse and not have to wait for five to grace them all with his knowledge

are working as a team from the very beginning

have open lines of communication

vanya is also already aware of her powers so the whole harold goading her into turning against her family and snapping to wipe out all life on earth thing? yeah that doesnt happen

oh and harold wouldn’t know how to do that in the first place because klaus wouldn’t throw out reggie’s journal! this solves so many problems wtf

there’s still commission issues bc they (and by they i mean five) are on the commission’s radar

so there’s still dope fight scenes sdlkfd pinky promise

this is fun because now five is a highly trained assassin who is also lowkey a complete marshmallow for his siblings and once again TEAMWORK WOO

basically the first path but now five has a gun fhsdjk

4) they join the commission but five has to leave them behind and they cease to exist

five with a gun but hes sad now

i didnt go into how much losing his siblings would suck in the prev path but like. it would suck so much. he’s already lost them once if you think about it when he time traveled the first time and yeah he found the adult ghost versions but,, its different

and now suddenly hes stuck with these strange adult versions of the people he knows and he KNOWS them but also he doesnt? at all? they dont have all the years of shared experiences together? and theyre all grown up from the first ‘set’ of siblings he had which for five was like 40+ years ago??

TUA Season 2 is finally here! I think it was a really cool season with some really awesome potential, but there are some parts that I think really didn’t work and this is how i think they should have been fixed

(Spoilers for Season 2 of the Umbrella Academy. Obviously)

i think landing the siblings in different years was amazing, they got time to explore themselves and we could see their personalities through what they did

On the other hand, they didnt devote enough time to those storylines so it never felt like they had a solid purpose (for most of the siblings), it was more to show “time has passed”

How did Luther end up boxing under a gangster? How is he adjusting to no dad, no academy?? He was alone on the moon, He was left behind by his siblings in the academy, now he is alone and in a whole other *time* like i wanna hear about that!

Klaus has mansion and a cult and had a girlfriend benefactor lady?? Like: lets get into that! if the show wants humor that can be amazing

but it can also be really interesting and deep for exploring klaus’s need for both personal space (physically and somewhat emotionally) yet also his need for positive attention from whoever will give it to him!

More on that alone now track: the opening scene with their fighting was built to get us hyped

it fucking worked, that shit was amazing

but along with wishing that we saw more of their individual stories, i wish some of their growth had been gradual

like Klaus should have been showing off ghost stuff with his cult which is part of why they follow him which would set up his new ability to summon and conjure multiple ghosts at a time

instead of it being a throw away scene at the end where he gets caught

or Diego could have been shown in his ‘alone in dallas’ storyline to be trying to escape multiple times from the asylum and in that, figuring out his ability to start affecting other peoples shots at him, etc

Stuff like that would have been a great way to both dive into the characters *and* ramp up their abilities

Moving onto The Commission who i absolutely love so so much 

Hell yeah u funky lil time-space assassins

I think that the Handler should have stayed dead

her return to the show while awesome (because she is played so well by her actress) continues this problem for the show of seemingly running in place where things dont have consequences like they should

I also think her return made a very campy feel to certain parts which is fine, the story should have fun! but it doesnt fit with the vibe very well with the other more serious plots

Imagine a storyline where the Handler is replaced by Carmichael, a competent replacement with no close personal relationship to Five

A head to head show down throughout the season of Five trying to outthink and outwit Carmichael and Commission Agents to get a briefcase 

The misdirects! 

The drama! 

The action sequences and reveals!

More Screen Time for the Cool Ass Talking Fish 2k20!

All of which culminates in the board of directors scene but now with real weight behind it for the audience because we have been watching these two face off with one another for a season of build up

LET FIVE EAT THE FISH!

Giving that scene to the handler was the worst part of the whole season, u cant change my mind bros

This would also open up Lila to be more of her own person

Her storyline would change without the Handler there so that instead of being actively manipulated by the Handler, she has gone rogue from the commission to kill Five for her parents deaths due to previous planning and programming from her mother

(its only been 14 days for Five, a very normal turn around for him to desert, have the Handler tell Lila her version of the story, get killed, and have Lila get ready to take him down)

its generally the same plot, but Lila is more in the drivers seat

Going from tagging along with Diego in the hopes that Five returns for him to questioning some of her commitment to her mission as she spending time with them, etc

it could culminate in a reveal of her mother to Five and Diego and then a redemption where she helps them get a case from Carmichael in someway, looping her into the main plot in an important way with generally the same story

but skipping the pretty basic “obviously evil character is obviously evil but hero doesn't see it” trope that they fell into

I think that Luther’s arc in this season was awesome 10/10 gold standard

he was still him, but this storyline showcases the softer side of his loyalty and lets him grow from season 1 mistakes which is everything I hoped for

Comforting Vanya? Check

Being there for Five? Check

Being a voice of reason but still being a dumbass? Cheeeeeck

Diegos arc this season fell flat for me which was hard because he was such a main part of the plot 

This whole season had a build-up trying to break down Diego’s need to be a hero (which they turned to a fucking 11 from last season?? he was not *this* intense last season, im not quite sure why they made the switch), telling him that he isnt / cant be the hero

I assumed this was leading to Diego having a big moment or sacrifice that proved that hero or not, he cares and the effort that he puts into all of these different things matters

But it just didnt??

He didnt stop the president from being assassinated, he didnt save vanya, at the farm he got trapped under a tractor

it just felt like the point was “haha see he isnt a hero”

which,,,,,,okay? What the point of that??

His involvement with the Commision was weird too, i didnt care for him being a part of that storyline very much, it just didnt add anything

Allison’s arc was just on the edge of greatness for me

it was an awesome choice to put in her in a position where she wasnt treated equally and show exactly what kind of person she is by how she fights back

her not using her rumors also seems very genuine and character based here like: 10/10 character motivations and work

My one complaint, like with just about all the partners in this season, is that she fell in love with a man and just had to leave him 

which makes sense and they talk about it but like: she loves him, its hard to picture someone as loving and loyal as Allison just leaving her husband behind forever 

Klaus’s arc just needed more *time*

He is a hella deep character but all of his story lines needed more time to be able to address that complexity 

Show us more of the cult and his ghost powers being used there to trick and amaze and how he has been handling being cut off from the family again

I,,,,,,I understand,,,dave’s storyline

I get the time period

but fuck

that just hurts

I think Klaus not trying to rekindle his relationship with a younger Dave, but trying to protect him from the war was an amazing angle and it needed more time to get the full punch of klaus pulling out all the stops to save him but failing to really land it

I feel like his job as ‘leader of the stop the apocalypse’ movement is good but that was his whole story this time around

He should have gotten more to play off of with the Commission (*cough cough* Carmichael) in his fight to get a briefcase instead of what felt like 10 hours of Five trying to herd his siblings and them just fucking up in someway or another

Five and Older Five was a cool dynamic and im glad they brought him in but again, it just felt like another long storyline attempt that didnt have a purpose as they ended the scene without the case or anything new

Ben’s arc was,,,,,strange

I love Ben and i think his interplay with Klaus is really cool!

But the writers made him fall in love which someone so they could give him a reason to want to possess Klaus which i feel like didnt need to happen

The possession was a good part of the season and could have been taken to some awesome places

It was rough and the ‘consent’ wasnt run entirely well but i think the possession is supposed to be on the line and not quite black and white 

its Ben asking to take control of Klaus! That can be conflict! Thats good stuff right there! Ben is selfish! so is Klaus! thats a cool story to get into between them and see how they try to work it out

Ben wanting to connect with his other siblings after the small taste of being corporeal that he got and pushing Klaus for more and more of that freedom into possession territory would be A+ shit

and Finally: Vanya!

I think most amnesia plots are lazy and just a way to stall progress and reset a character so you can run a very similar plot again but this one seemed to genuinely grow Vanya’s character, even when she remembered 

She definitely has more personality in this season

And while shes quiet, thats just who she is, she isnt as afraid to take space and speak up which is awesome!

And this stays when she gets her memory back which is very good, i dont want to see backsliding for no reason! Give me growth!

I have two complaints about her storyline though

 First Sissy and Harlan

I love both of them and I think they are really cool characters!

Theyre pretty similar to vanya season 1, taking whatever is thrown at them which places Vanya in a more assertive position where she wants to protect them which i loved!

but their ending doesn't sit entirely right with me, just like Raymonds

These characters are in love and they all just leave each other so that the siblings can have a clean, no characters permanently added slate for the next season

it just makes me tired and i really want season 3 to have little to no romance if the only way the show can go about it is to do a love interest per season

My second problem gets its own section because it is the culmination of everything else i have said 

episode ten

Vanya is strong af so any writer that wants big final fight needs to very carefully weigh out how to give each sibling their appropriately sized struggle so they get equal ability to contribute

Instead of doing that though, they did my least favorite trope: Evil Character secretly can do everything the heros can but better and without a problem or ***training***

It meant that they could do whatever they wanted with throwing commission agents at them because Luther, Allison, and Klaus were completely added on just to react to things

Five sort of got to do some fighting (<3 thats my lil geriatric 13 year old) but it was minor, he was mainly there to very obviously turn back time when the big bad shoot out happened

Diego got the most to do out of the siblings and it was suddenly knowing a new ability and doing it a little bit

I dont want a final fight to be trying to woo a bad guy to the good side because theyre too strong to fight 

I want there to be stakes and drama as the siblings show off exactly what the season was all about, what they learned, how they grew together and apart, etc and to take down the big bad which could have very easily been the united front of the Commission instead of 18% Vanya, 15% Harlan, 30% Lila and the Handler, 20% the Swede(s), etc

Lila’s turn to good could have been to help them sneak attack the commission, maybe in their base so as to shrink the fighting to manageable bites for each character?

That would have allowed five’s killing of the board to draw the fighting to a close, a hard decision for him as he is trying to move away from killing but does so to save his family, always to save his family :’( 

Luther could protect his siblings from hits like they showed at the beginning in a way that mirrors how he has been doing that emotionally all season

etc etc etc for all of the siblings so that they each get to show off and have their moment in the spotlight as heros

I loved the season even though i just ranted for like 3 pages, and it has some of the best one liners and line readings ever (”Thats where you come in Five” “Nope. No it isnt”) I just wish that some parts of it had been given some more thought / care so they could really show of the amazing cast, effects, sets, etc without writing in the way

sophie as a witcher. shes the moonlark of san diego. she vastly privilege the more magical side of the job.

also she comes from the School of the Swan

fitz is a sorcerer. hes shown an incredible aptitude for chaos from a very young age, becoming one of the youngest to ever ascend.

biana follows him, only a few years older, as a witch of aretuza.

they both serve the Councils court as advisors and spies respectively

keefe is a bard, who tags along with sophie as a way to cheer her up, as he can still read people exteemely well in this au, even though hes completely human

dex is ciri

this wouldnt make sense in the show, but it makes sense to me, as dex is my small child.

also he gets to be a prince, an have baddass powers

juline, the queens daughter is about to get wed to a man whom she doesnt love, and kesler cuts in.

everything happens yada yada yada, sophie claims the law of surprise, but as this is on of her first missions, and shes still a teenager, she doesnt want to take responsibility for the child, so instead she sees with the vackers, who have just been appointed to this court as their first assignment for him to be taken care of

they dont meet again until much later, when sophie is well into her 200s already, and so are the vackers

but yeah, sophie meets keefe in a inn after killing a kikimore just as it happened in the show

hes just gotten out of his fathers house, and wants adventure, so he follows her around, and she doesnt complain, loving the way he babbles to her anout everything and nothing

roach is silveny

most of the stuff in the show happens like it did, except from the mountain bc fuck the mointain

i.stead, keefe joins nilfgard for a hot sec before sophie gets her bard back

the timeline in the witcher is over a few decades, so right then, the vackers are in their 245s, soph in her 210s, dex in his 230s and keefe, thanks to silveny, is about 50 but hasnt aged a day

idk ab tam and linh, tbh, but i imagine they would be elves

like, the wood elfs that help ciri in the show

and then they decide to stick arpund bc they love dex so much
