I saw some people sharing their experience so I want to share mine. When I first saw the aspec thing I was like "what the hell is aspec?" I legit thought It was just about asexuality stuff and I was kinda confused then I think I read one of your posts explaining It with the headcanon about Rayllum maybe being demiromantic/demisexual and I was like oooh? I'm straight myself but while my girl-friends had no problem finding boyfriends I have always been more closed off and connecting with people in that way has always been difficult‚ I have had crushes but I don't think I can connect with someone romantically unless we have a deep bond first‚ and that's kinda hard. I always found people that dated a lot and had one night stands pretty weird because I just didn't get why would you that kinda stuff with people you don't love but searching about demi stuff made me notice It was a me thing. Their relationship is so special and strong you know them both can't have these kind of feelings for anyone else. So yeah this part of the rayllum fandom and the two little idiots little actions opened my eyes‚ been thinking about if for a while but this helped me a lot! Really this fandom is so enjoyable

Thank you for sharing!! <33 I've found there's a lot of demi people in the fandom in particular and I'm always glad those posts resonate (since while I do very much see Rayllum that way I fall elsewhere on the aroace spectrums), especially if it helps people develop better understandings of themselves!!

How generally aspec friendly the Rayllum fandom is / their dynamic is to be read that way, esp in arc 2 just makes me so happy. I think it's near and dear to a lot of our hearts <3

Part one of my The Dragon Prince headcanons:

Callum and Ezran are half Korean(or at least the dragon prince version) from their mother and aunt amaya's side.

The boys argue in their mother's language. Rayal at first has no idea what they're saying when they argue like that.

Callum had to be the one to teach his brother their mother's language and culture. Aunt Amaya helped. The boys eventually teach Rayla the language.

Soren and Claudia learned a little from growing up with the boys plus Soren was trained under Sarai a little before she died. Soren can understand it better but it's hard for him to remember the right words. Claudia is better at it them him.

Soren trained a little under Sarai before she died.

Rayla and Callum like to go out dancing as one of their favorite date activities.

Claudia had to do all the motherly chores when her mother left. At least before they fully moved into the castle and had servants.

Callum taught Ezran how to walk, how to tie his shoes, basically raised him. But he would never tell Harrow that because it would hurt him.

Harrow was a good father, it's just he couldn't always be there for them when he was king. King Harrow also didn't hire a nanny for them. So a lot of the times if the servants weren't watching over Ezran it was usally Callum.

There wasn't a lot of kids growing up in the castle. So Soren, Claudia, and Callum only really had each other. Callum was lonely so that's why he really clung to Soren and Claudia even when Soren was being mean or Claudia was being insensitive. He never really learned it was a problem till he met Rayla and after the betrayal.

Rayla didn't have lot of friends growing up either. Callum is really her first friend. Best friend.

Soren has nightmares about the stuff his father uses for dark magic.

Even though Soren was a little bit mean growing up, he never let anyone bully Claudia, Callum or Ezran. He usally beat up anyone who did. Especially someone who made his sister cry.

Callum use to give Claudia flowers all the time when they were little. Some she would save, others she would use for her dark magic lessons. After the betrayal flowers kind of made Callum sick for a bit. Till after he learned about Rayla's favorite flower.

Rayla's favorite flowers are blue roses. Callum eventually gives her a bouquet of them.

Corvus helps Ezran with his hair as he gets older.

Opeli constantly had to shush the children growing up for evening and moring prayers because Soren would always get them to giggle.

Katolis has evening and morning prayers for the gods and goddesses they pray to. It's not mandatory to attend except for the royal family.

Opeli is the youngest Cleric of her generation.

Moonshadow Elf beliefs mostly follow the moon. They pray to it and ask it for things. Not only do they gain power from it but they also treat it like it is a goddess.

There's a Moonshadow elf festival where people dance under the full moon. Some adult elves, usually couples dance under it naked. Usually to absorb all the energy and power from the full moon.

Soren is bi and both has a crush on Corvus and Opeli growing up.

Rayla and Callum are both demisexual.

If Rayla and Callum had met earlier as children they would have been best friends too. And probably would have slowly fallen in love if they had grew up in different times.

Viren and Harrow had ideas of setting up an arranged marriage between Claudia and Callum. But over all Harrow turned down the idea.

There were talks of Ezran and Aanya having an arranged marriage between them before Aanya's mother's and Sarai died and the idea was let go.

Claudia taught Ezran how to sneak around the castle. In doing this she accidentally kick started Ezran into accidentally finding the egg.

Claudia was unaware of all the bridges she burnt down when she chose her father and betrayed the boys. She kept hoping that everything would fix itself. She didn't realize it couldn't be fix till she found her father dead and she was all alone.

Claudia definitely had to kill someone to bring her father back. She also had to do a lot of grave robbing.

Claudia would have gone crazy if she hadn't met Terry. Like she would have had a psychotic break.

Edit: As a note, to explain a little on Cals sexuality. He’s Panromantic but Demisexual, there’s a lot of reasons for this but his Demisexuality mainly relies on the facts that 1. He’s Trans (aka self-consciousness, has been taken advantage of because he’s trans, and negative effects of testosterone, i.e., vaginal atrophy) 2. He just doesn’t have a huge sex drive! It’s not the motivating factor for him in a relationship and he often finds that he doesn’t value/find interest in it very often at all.

With Shane it’s a little different. Further and longer into their relationship Cal opens up a lot more, but during the pre/early/mid stages, he almost never brings it up, suggests it, or pressures/presses about it. If anything he focuses A LOT more on the emotional, mental, and communication aspects of their relationship

Is anyone else like. Genuinely torn about Sorvus being a thing. Like, I know it's a popular ship and the show certainly did feed it in the last season lmao, like I do genuinely understand it. They're both sweet and would be a cute couple. I have no problems with the ship, like there is nothing I can object to, really.

I just . . . I also really like seeing men just be friends? And be allowed to be tender and touchy and loving with their male friends. Soren gets a bit of that with Callum and Ezran, but that's got a very brotherly slant to it these days, he goes into Brother Mode with them and it's just. Idk. Some people are just straight, and cishet white men can in fact also just be really sweet himbos sometimes, and I feel like that would really . . . work for Soren. He's already written in as a character who's from this privileged background and was taught harmful shit and he's unlearned it; it fits, thematically, for me.

Besides that, if I was going to give Soren a queer headcanon, my thought still doesn't go to anything mlm? My automatic thought for him would be the kind of ace who forgets that sex is a real thing that people do. Like, he goes on about his muscles and how handsome he is as humor, but just absolutely does not compute that some people may think of him in a sexual context. He wouldn't care, he just. Forgets. Because he literally never thinks about sex by himself. And he loves people so . . . intensely and honestly that Idk if romantic love would be much different for him, if he were ace, than other types of love? Except possibly more of a desire to share his home with them, due to a feeling of safety.

My thoughts on Corvus are a little more nebulous, because I actually did have an mlm ship with him before he ever had screen time near Soren - he and Gren were the first adult couple in this show that I felt like I could properly write because they took so long to tell us Ethari's damn name, and I thought Amaya's boys being dating each other was a cute concept. Admittedly, I was a teenager at the time, and there isn't much basis for this other than their sheer proximity to each other (which is switched out for proximity to Soren after Amaya moves to Xadia).

But like also, Corvus did very much work for Amaya. Being honest and intimate and affectionate with one's friends is something she clearly encourages by just, doing it herself. So his relationship with Soren still works on the level of just being men who openly love their friends.

If I was to ascribe some queer headcanon to Corvus, there's actually a lot that could fit just because he tends to be so reserved. It wouldn't be something that changes his behavior unless he's interested in someone. So demisexual is obviously on the table because . . . basically just the inside would reflect the outside facade. I would probably go with bi or pan otherwise, something that's on the flexible side. It just really wouldn't matter unless he had a proper interest.

And obviously all of that's ascribing modern language to behaviors and preferences that none of these characters would actually use, but it makes the ideas clear to the modern audience.

Like I said, I mean Sorvus is cute, and I really can't think of anything wrong with it. They're sweet, they spend a lot of time together, they clearly have a good rapport. They're a cute duo. I guess one could argue there's a potential power imbalance since Soren is Corvus' boss now, but like . . . look I'm also in the Call of Duty fandom, I don't think I'm even ALLOWED to object based on a power dynamic anymore. That's also very easily remedied in their situation by just having Corvus formally switch to working for Ezran directly rather than through the Crownguard, and absolutely nothing about their actual responsibilities changes, Soren just isn't his immediate boss anymore. Idk. I just wanted to think out loud about it for a minute. I guess in conclusion, I'd be cool with Sorvus happening, but I also kind of love the way their dynamic is already just as friends. Anyone else feeling similarly?

happy pride month featuring. demisexual rayla and mayhaps some aro spec vibes too

Rayla has never really felt the stirrings, before, as other elves call it.

 Her training ramps up when she’s twelve, but the other kids her age are starting to be consumed by crushes, blushing and making fools of themselves unnecessarily. It’s hard to understand, and even more annoying to watch. Can’t they just focus on what needs to be done? They’re the future warriors, defenders and protectors, of their village. They don’t have time for silliness, never mind the time consuming foolishness that comes with often short lived romantic (or even sexual) entanglements she sees the older assassins in training partake in. 

She supposes she’s just much more mature than they are. It’s the only explanation. 

Then she meets Callum. 

It’s not that they suddenly start, exactly — but for the first time, it feels like there’s potential for them to. How else is she supposed to explain this want to always be close to him, unable to resist from placing her hands on his shoulders, getting all up in his face as she teases him with her human impression? This maddening need to see him smile, to lift his spirits on the rare occasion he’s the downtrodden one (a situation that becomes less and less rare once he learns the truth about his father)? The racing of her heart and incessant thoughts in her mind that she can’t lose him, her fingers hesitantly touching his cheek, because she’s felt so many things since she ran away with two human princes and a dragon egg, but this — this is something else. 

His hand in hers makes sparks buzz in her chest, their interlaced fingers before the blind Sol Regem wholly for their own benefit. Her heart feels like it’s about to burst out of her chest with fondness and affection when she catches him blushing, when she catches him staring at her the way she imagines she’s been staring at him for quite a while now.

Once the embarrassment of the Oasis has faded, Rayla curls into his arms that cool night on the back of the ambler, and lets herself chase that warmth, a blanket draped over their laps and his lips firm against hers.

They explore a little more at the Nexus and the castle—kissing in dark alcoves and pressed against walls, pulling him close by his scarf, exploring more confidently the further they go, as far as his shirt being off one unbearably hot summer night, anyway.

Then she leaves, and is achingly cold. 

It’s not as though there are no offers while she’s away. The pubs and inns she frequents as she crosses through Xadia, when she can afford to and when camping isn’t an option, are home to many travellers looking for a good time. When she breaks her leg falling from a stupid tree, the clerk at the apocathery is very sweet, and asks if she’d stay a little longer once she’s healed up. His eyes are so green it’s almost tempting, but Rayla knows what she knows, and especially knows her heart.

There’s no one else. There never will be.

The jitters grow worse the closer she gets to Katolis when she finally turns around, Stella doing her best to soothe her nerves to little avail. 

She misses his birthday by one night and spends most of the next day crying, pacing outside the city walls till it’s almost nightfall. What will he say? What will he do? How has he changed, and what if he hasn’t? What if he still...

She climbs through his window, catching sight of the back of him first—broader, taller, with shorter, spikier hair swooped to one side—and then he turns around, gasping.

Still her Callum.

Boom. Stirrings. 

She spends most of the night admiring him once he’s relaxed enough to fall asleep, basking in the fact she’s by his side again, that she can do this—that he didn’t leave.

She thinks of the time one of the other Moonshadow kids had made a face when she didn’t have a crush on anyone, calling her strange.

Runaan had taken her aside and explained that sometimes, falling in love works differently for people, if they fall in love at all. That it was the same for him with Ethari. “Sometimes you fall in love only once,” he’d said.

She watches the way the sun catches Callum’s hair, illuminating a face that’s only grown more handsome since she left. In spite of everything, or perhaps precisely because of everything, she smiles.

This is it.

💜 Ivy Fairbanks has done a wonderful job at developing vibrant, realistic characters who will, no doubt, steal your heart. Despite the grief and guilt weighing on her, Lark is a ray of sunshine, and there's no discounting the charm Callum is hiding behind his seemingly dark exterior. Initially, I worried they were TOO different for chemistry to spark between them, but the progression is easy and natural, the two of them bringing light to one another despite coming from very different, dark places. The little moments between them truly build into romance, making their friends-to-lovers progression both realistic and raw. You'll fall in love as they fall in love, feel your heart ache as their hearts ache, and watch both characters grow with every page. Beyond that, Fairbanks directs readers directly into Ireland, the setting's natural beauty and rich history seeping out of the page until you can't help but breathe in the scent of flowers blooming after a heavy rain. This book is a journey, both through Galway and its intense character growth. Callum's stutter is well-represented, as is his ace/demisexual orientation. As someone who is in love with a demi-goddess (hehe), I was glad to see it depicted so richly and honestly. Lark researching to understand Callum better was all too sweet.

💙 Normally, I have limited interest in a marriage of convenience plot, but it really works well here. You feel the pressure Callum is experiencing without it seeming like a hokey plot device. I also appreciate that both characters have both internal and external conflicts they need to resolve. That being said, I do think Lark's enemy comes off as a one-dimensional villain, when so many other characters live off the page. I've encountered coworkers who are willing to take credit for another person's work, throw someone under the bus, and bully to feel powerful, but honestly, there's usually a deeper reason motivating them. I also think we should have experienced more panic from Lark when she realized how Callum planned to fix the marriage problem. Instead we skip that scene and go straight into her finding a solution.

The first part of season 8 starting with a public Sorvus wedding, and season 8 ending with Rayllum eloping or getting married in secret all romeo and juliet style.

Opeli finding a letter left by Ezran that tells everyone that Rayllum eloped(think Anastasia style) and that Ezran and Zym went with them to be witnesses.

Sorens mom coming to his wedding and at first Soren does not want her to be there, but eventually coming around to her being there after she apologies and tells him what happened.

Claudia having snuck into the wedding(not to see Soren but to kidnap Ezran) and sits in the back.

Claudia kidnapping Ezran.

Everyone of course freaking out that the king of Katolis is missing.

Rayllum going on a war path to save Ezran and beat up Claudia.

Claudia keeping Ezran in a creepy cabin in a snow filled woods. The episode giving the puppet master vibes from avatar the last airbender vibes.

The dark magic Claudia does is taking its toll on her and she's getting sick.

Claudia seeing Rayllum being happy from the shadows and being jealous. Not of Rayla being with Callum, but more so that the Elf that destroyed her life gets to be happy with people who use to be her family. And now she's all alone.
