My tolerance for rom-coms has hit an all time low. Every time these idiots are like, "Let's move in together, it's the most romantic thing a couple can do to show they love each other!" I just feel that smoker meme in my soul.
Marriage, folks, the thing you're actually thinking of is marriage.
There's nothing more romantic than swearing to spend your life together. But admit it, you're too cowardly to commit to any ACTUAL romance in your life. :/

why does every critically acclaimed show or movie have to have women being sexually degraded or constantly with their tits out or stripping or being prostituted, when will the men start bending over and do long ass scenes with their ass shaking or whatever

I think it was a good character writing decision for mark's catalyst to be nolan insulting debbie, but the degrading way nolan talks about humans affects him too. mark is half-human, even if his viltrumite side is the only part of his heritage the characters of invincible acknowledge because nolan does everything he can to foreground it in-universe—declaring that his viltrumite-ness is the most important part of his racial/species background was arbitrary, and that status can be arbitrarily revoked too. mark only asks this once, but what was nolan planning to do if his son had never developed powers, i.e. proven he could grow into a "proper" viltrumite? he would be just another human, and nolan's treatment of debbie shows he has no issue belittling and mistreating even the humans that he's emotionally close to. nolan slaughters unfamiliar humans in front of mark to make a point. he uses mark's body as a weapon to kill humans with for the sake of upsetting him. mark, who is the son of a human just as much as he is the son of a viltrumite. who at the start of the series was less than a year away from being a normal human, the kind of person who his father would at best treat like a thing he possesses and at worst like a bug to squash. does mark feel threatened by nolan's contempt towards his people (the kind of person that mark is)? is that driving him to fight? is mark thinking about that at all, even if it's just subconscious?

Mini rant below and in the tags, the only time I’ll talk about this and my personal take on it.
The way people talk about hypothetical male Anya on Twitter and the idea of how Mouthwashing would play out if the genders were swapped makes me remember how people still don’t take sexual assault and rape with male victims with the same gravity, especially when the perpetrator is female.
#not even gonna tag this cause I don’t want to start discourse in the tags but you can absolutely still explore the concepts of patriarchy#toxic masculinity misogyny and rape culture if the genders where swapped#like those concepts don’t disappear just because Anya is a boy now cause you have to think of all the ways it applies to male victims and#I just don’t understand why people keep getting angry when people facilitate different discussion the game opens you up to#like yes I get the frustration with not seeing the conversations you want but start them go find them why complain on other posts when#people are bringing attention to similar issues and the ways they are overlooked dismissed or blame the victim#I for one think we should have more basic clarifying conversations of SA rape cultures and how toxic masculinity and sexism create scenarios#like the Tulpar and enable men like Jimmy but I also can understand and enjoy the topic being expanded upon to include other cases on a#flipped scale like yes how male centered the fandom is is annoying considering the topic but seeing comments saying that SA isn’t as harmful#to men cause they can’t get pregnant is a whole can of worms you really need to unpack cause holy shit#like in this scenario if Jimmy is pregnant and can’t get rid of the baby Anya is the father yes Jimmy is pregnant but that’s because in this#swap she assaulted a man lied to either say it was consensual he forced himself on her or like canon panicked and semi admitted to forcing#him either way he is afraid to do anything because men do get blamed for defending themselves against women in these situations not to#mention the shaming that occurs because he is a man and should step up for the kids sake and likely be told he should be proud a girl wanted#him that much like yes you have to explain it more but bodily autonomy in this scenario is just as nuanced and I can’t believe I have to#defend something being male centered in a game where the rape of a woman is the catalyst just because people are saying SA for men#is not as damaging or degrading or harmful to autonomy as it is to a woman like how can you want conversations on rape culture and shut down#people bringing up other nuances in the conversation#like people are gonna jump around with it I know but if you only want to talk about one thing stay in that sphere like I just don’t get#going to another space especially one that isn’t even being weird or toxic and starting shit cause you don’t like it like the amount of#unnecessary and mean comments on normal art of think pieces I’ve seen on Twitter is crazy like it’s stupid callout shit for the sake of just#not liking something like I’m seeing so much screen shotting and vague posting like just at the bitch and fight about it like it’s still a#relatively small fandom ur just asking for in fighting on like the few things we shouldn’t have to worry about#as a victim my self and who has been in other situations and being afab I just can’t understand the vitriol toward this sort of discussion#mouthwashing#actually I will tag this cause you can explore the themes in mouthwashing still stop being freaks and just block bitches ong

So, so, so tired of x reader fanfics that characterize the female reader as a bimbo whose only job is to look good for her male partner.
Also really disturbing that a lot of writers focus on “kinks” like degradation, humiliation, pain play, rough sex, etc. If fiction is completely separate from reality as many of you claim, why do the majority of your fics include violence against women and mirror the sexual violence statistics we see in real life?
Isn’t it a bit odd that the rough treatment of women in fanfiction is never directed back towards their male partners in the same degree?
When was the last time you read about a woman shoving phallic objects into a man’s ass without preparation and “lovingly” calling them a whore, slut, and saying their only purpose is to be used?

I miss old fandom. I miss 22 episode seasons and the months-long investment in the story, the weeks between the episodes coming out where we would talk and make jokes and overanalyse for hours. I miss the fan art exchanges. The fic awards and rec accounts. character appreciation weeks. a dash full of amazing gif sets. and sometimes someone would copy and paste someones tags on to them because they felt they deserved to be seen (when someone did that with your tags it hit like nothing else). once in the xfiles fandom all the artists got together and drew each others art in their own styles. where did that all go? everythings so fleeting now. it feels like every story ends too soon or loses its way and we all did too.

seeing non-black people critique rick's portrayal of black characters is interesting sometimes. only like 30% of the critiques I see make any sense to me to be honest
#“rick made carter be an elvis presley fan that's fucked up!” is a real thing I just read#do you think black people can't enjoy elvis even though he appropriated black culture for personal gain#boy you would not like what I have to tell you about eminem. or kpop. or anything else bc black culture has been#appropriated by like everyone forever. are black people not allowed to enjoy iggy or ariana or billie or [the list goes on]#I myself am not biracial but I /mostly/ like carter and sadie (specifically carter who isn't white-passing) as black representation#the part where carter feels indignant that he has to hold himself to a higher standard because the world is harsher on black boys#did genuinely resonate with me when I first read that part as a child and it still does to this day#can we talk about how rick knows nothing about black hair instead#or how hazel is from the jim crow era and seems to not have one single thought about race in the modern era#or hazel's horror over the amazons keeping slaves but “no they're not slaves they just like it that way 🥰”#my problems with hazel are not at all about stereotypes I just don't buy her as an authentic portrayal of a black girl from the 1930s#don't get me started on beckendorf. does every black character need to die a violent horrible death rick#anyways this isn't intended to make anyone feel bad but we need more meaningful nuance in critiques beyond “hey that's a stereotype! bad!”#if you can't discern and communicate WHY it's bad then you're not saying anything of substance#is it a caricature? is it uninformed/underresearched? are all the characters from that group being represented in that way?#is the stereotype itself a degradation of that group? is it being played for laughs? is the character a one-dimensional stereotype?#what can we glean about the biases of the author/narrative and their worldview through their portrayal of certain groups in the text?#a big part of literary analysis and critique is not only pointing out The Thing. you need to also say something about The Thing#like if you have a black character say they like hiphop then sure it's a “stereotype”. but lots of black people do like hiphop#it's an important part of black american culture and portraying that in media isn't racist by default#and in fact lots of poc keep parts of themselves quiet for fear of being perceived as a “stereotype” when we shouldn't have to do that#BUT if you're doing it like jonah wizard was written in the 39 clues then that's where we've got a problem bc wtf was that rick#that was so racist oh my god I was like 11 years old reading that 😭 and then he had the white mc poke fun at him for being a gangster#and him being a “gangsta” was always played for laughs throughout the story#not being pro-rick here as I'm a big fan of critical riordan reading just being pro-thoughtful critiques because some of you guys actually#sound a wee bit ignorant when saying things like what was mentioned in the first tag#baye.txt#pjo hoo toa#rr crit#<- tagging that just for. well the tags basically

Xelzaz's line on Maormer made me chuckle because... y'know. Yorick. Also been rocking a hood w/ his usual face mask so you can't see shit on his head so he could easily pass for whatever which is fun for situations like this??? idk Anyway!!
Playable Maormer w/o needing mods when (never, I know but shh)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I might be the only person that jokingly threatens people I'm comfortable with but y'know. Never said I was good with people. Said the opposite actually lmao
Also I keep drawing Yorick as super aggro but I think that's just the Nebarra effect because he's a space cadet tbh.
was gonna have Xel and Lucifer say something at the end here but I... forgot what but also not happy with these faces because blah blah argonian hard blah. Same thing I'm always complaining about lmao
Tumblr media
Judging
anyway, silly nonsense that's probably funnier in my head but now it's OUT of my head and that's what's really more important tbh. That all of you have to be inflicted with it is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Are we too self-centered in modern times?
We live in a time where the philosophies egoism and hedonism lead the face of everything that's trendy.
For those that may not know:
Egoism: Self-interest serves as both the motive and the moral. Your thoughts and actions revolve around your personal interest.
Hedonism: Pleasure and self-indulgence are the goal. Your thoughts and actions revolve around pleasure.
*please note that these are not the same; hedonism cannot exist without egoism (self-centeredness), but egoism can exist without pleasure being the ultimate goal
Mainstream social media content subtly preaches the importance to prioritize the self and indulge in pleasure or activities that contribute directly to pleasure for the self. Living life for yourself (life coaches and travel blogs), self-care (skin/hair/nail/etc. -care girlies), discipline for the sake of self-betterment (gym bros), moral validation (same-belief political discourse), and beauty & fashion (self-explanatory) all seem to make up the overwhelming majority of social media content aside from news.
There are, of course, other facets of the internet where this is not the direct message. A good example is the recent rise of the "nuclear family trad-wife." One would think that the goal is to be subservient and show submission and compassion for the family, but who is truly being validated by "performing" well? The wife. The pleasure of the family and the wife, as well as the satisfaction of success, can still be linked back to egoism and/or hedonism.
These values can also be found outside of the realm of the internet. People act in the best interest of their self All The Time, and it's not an inherently bad thing. Caring for yourself and your state of being is survival. It's commonplace, and so natural that we don't even think of it most of the time. We eat and drink to sustain life. We make choices in our youth that are either for the sake of our future or our own desires in the moment (high school). Even something as small as readjusting your sitting position to be more comfortable is acting in the best interest of the self. These, of course, are not examples of egoism and hedonism, because that's determined by bigger, fully conscious decisions. The point is that it's important and a good thing to look out for oneself; it's human nature at the core. If you or a someone you know is seriously struggling with this concept, please consider seeking help for you or that person.
*Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: 988
If self-centeredness and pleasure-seeking is key to enjoyment and survival of life, then when does it become a problem?
Humans are social creatures. We have constructed a society where it is nearly impossible to live without impacting and interacting with others in some way, even if you live off the grid. I'm not just talking about the Butterfly Effect either. Even our choices to avoid interacting with others will impact the outcomes of their situations. These are represented through phenomena like the bystander effect, neglecting to vote in elections, inaction leading to someone's death, not crashing a wedding, not returning calls, not getting in someone's way, etc.
When we make decisions in our own best interest or in the name of pleasure, we have the ability to cause harm towards others. I don't need to explain further or give examples for that claim be true.
However, that is not the kind of interaction I'm talking about.
There is this group of ideas: "I did not ask to be born in this world, therefore I owe nothing to the people that inhabit it." "I'm not responsible for what happens to other people; that's their business, not mine." "I should not have to go out of my way for the sake of others, as I'm not debted to anybody."
Before I get yelled at, I promise I'm not a boomer trying to complain about 'kids these days' refusing to work or go the extra mile. I'm one of y'all, I swear 😔.
Now, before folks get upset, I'm not saying there's anything straight up wrong or "incorrect" about those statements. With that being said, I'm not explicitly agreeing with them either.
I'm saying that these ideas can be potentially dangerous when applied to everything.
When we devalue compassion and empathy for others, people get hurt. It sounds a lot like "Well yeah, you don't have to go out of your way to xyz, but are you responsible for the effects caused by your lack of action?"
We don't have to be polite, other people choose how they react to my words. We don't have to make all places accessible and welcome, nobody's entitled to be there. We don't have to out people as dishonest to others, because that's not our business. We don't have to tip or donate to the less fortunate, even if we live comfortably enough to do so without any issue. We don't have to respect the people that disagree with us as equal individuals, sometimes their wrongfulness means they have less worth than us. We don't have to move for anybody, and we don't have to share our space because that's their responsibility. I don't owe it to anybody to be kind, because the world doesn't deserve my forgiveness after what it's done to me.
These are examples of the sort of reasoning I see most often. These ideas can come from all kinds of people. There's a harshness to the truth in them. Realistically, we don't have to do anything at all. It is true that no other person is entitled to the services you provide. That is a fact that I will never dispute. I'm also not saying that these statements are morally incorrect.
The problem arises when large groups of people with influence believe in these things. Of course we don't need to have compassion and empathy for others, but when people that hold ANY kind of major power over the outcomes of others' situations believe this, it's dangerous. I'm talking about both rich/influential people AND average joes.
I'm talking about the bystanders that were there to witness me getting textbook bullied from elementary school up to my freshman year of high school. They did not owe me anything. They didn't have to intervene, because my personal wellbeing is nobody's responsibility but my own. Do I still resent them for watching me without a shred of sympathy? It's complicated. Those people (kids AND adults) are not bad people for standing off to the side. They caused me no direct harm, and they didn't bully me.
I'm not seeking attention or sympathy, I swear. Just using my experience to communicate my thoughts.
This story sounds biased, and it probably is, but it's still true that they were under no obligation to help me (except for some of the adults, lol). Of course it would have been nice, but that is their decision to make.
The people that watched are good to me now. They were good to me then, just not in the moments that I got bullied, which were unfortunately often. They weren't bad people in those moments, just absent: bystanders looking out for themselves.
Now imagine these scenarios: Sometimes, the bystander is also the bully. Sometimes, there is no obvious bully. Sometimes, the bystanders are not good people at all. Sometimes, the bystanders are bystanders ALL the time. Sometimes, the victim is a bad person. Sometimes, the bully is always good when they're not actively bullying the victim. Sometimes, the bully is life.
The question lies in where we as a society draw the line.
Where is it morally unacceptable to watch from afar without intervention?
Is it wrong to be focused on your own interest rather than the interests of other humans?
If this can be true on any level, are we all bystanders at some point in our lives?
Are we even capable of being egotists and hedonists without directly harming others in some way?
Or
Is this a passing trend?
Will there be a time and place where people focus more on the community rather than the individual? Or is compassion fading away for the better of the individual man?
Also if this was hard to read, it's cause I'm tired and too lazy to edit. Quite... egoist and hedonist of me... 😏

something about white women swarming to mock Nara Smith doesn't sit right with me. "Tradwife" content is nothing new but the second a black woman gets a lot of attention for it, suddenly everyone has an opinion.
This isn't to say that "Tradwife" content isn't extremely problematic and that the cases of DV within Mormonism aren't a very pervasive problem but, again, it has been a consistent issue for years on many social media apps - even during 2020 TikTok, by predominantly white women.
But the second a black woman has started doing it, all the videos I see are attempts of satirical mockery of Nara Smith from white women and pushed onto a lot of tags such as "#feminism".
When has mocking a woc ever been feminist?
