Head in hands. 'I Spy' with Pulp is such a banger for Zor. It's giving me the urge to finally think about designing them (+ redesigning a couple others..). There's something so good abt some of the lyrics like: "you see I spy for a living // and i specialise in revenge // on taking the things that i know will cause you pain". Like....likee.............

Theres earlier parts that also make my brain tick: "it may look like to the untrained eye // im sitting on my arse all day // I'm biding my time until i take you all on // my lords and ladies, i will not fail // i will prevail, cause i spy"

this is my first tav, for my only currently completed playthrough. named her seraphina, she was a wild magic sorcerer elf and she romanced astarion, and she was 100% a goody two shoes. not to flex or anything. always gonna hold a special place in my heart. kinda sad i don't have more screenshots of her. also, i went through this playthrough without any mods!

and then my current playthrough is actually my first durge! i've made a couple so far (my bad), but this is going to be a redeemed/resisting the urges playthrough. her name is aruna, and she's also romancing astarion (what a shocker). she's a storm sorcerer elf you can tell i have a preferred class and race huh. i also caught the wonderful lil sideye exchanged during the gur encounter between her and astarion which i laughed at for a good five minutes. so far, this playthrough has been 100x more chaotic, and is definitely giving her and astarion sharing a brain cell (the blood of lathander quest is still a sensitive topic for our dear pale elf womp womp). she's simply bhaal's god's favorite princess with her crew of scary dog privilege while she fights the voices. (and yes, this playthrough i am using mods. sue me.)

i also have two bard durge playthroughs (one as a tiefling, one as a half-elf), and one of them in a multiplayer campaign with my friend in which uh.... we're gonna do full on evil ! wish me luck !

I am kinda new to the rise fandom I was wondering why isn’t Raph as popular or well liked? Is it because he’s too different from the angsty emo bad boy we usually we get?

i definitely dont see any dislike for him, and as someone who's also pretty new to the rottmnt fandom, there's a very shocking amount of balance in appreciation for all four of them, even though there's undeniably a universal favorite lmao. i could come up with all sorts of reasons for the way i feel raph and mikey get sidelined in a lot of fan content, but honestly i think the truth of it is that people just like angst and their flavors of problems aren't as interesting to them as donnie's and ESPECIALLY not leo's. which is fine, im not going to police what people get up to, even though i can be personally peeved about things like struggling to find content im looking for. im creating here too i can rectify that for myself!!! and i am also very rabid on the donnie stanning and am also a secret leo kinnie (shh) so i cant say too much myself

like idk ive been into whump since before i even knew what the word meant, and im an adult now, and fandom has always slotted certain characters into the role of "caretaker" when writing it, and raph is a very easy character to put there in particular. and i get it because i end up doing it a lot myself, i just love giving him angst ABOUT it every single time because that is the thing that's actively fucking him up all day 24/7 anyway. its fun

but semi-unrelated i will complain a LITTLE about how much april gets parentified in the fandom and how i dont really consider her their sister (even though ive dipped my toes into it a bit because its popular fandom consensus) she's the bestie guys...... they call her the Bestie........ i prefer her to be considered family in a more ambiguous sense, i think its more fulfilling. im pretty sure if we got more time with cassandra she also would've been getting HEAVILY found family'd (it was kind of implied in the movie) but i ain't seen nobody implying she's their sister!!! (not shitting on people who interpret her that way btw!!! i just dont really like how she gets parentified and turned into a infallible cool older sister when she's a bit of a wreck herself and like... the fact that she's a black girl getting this treatment is not lost on me)

Okay see I understand that this is genuine but also if you're wondering "why tf does this person like a movie that uses 'we found out that we might potentially share the same dad but we won't stop our feelings for each other' as a plot twist" then that is totally understandable it DOES make me seem like a bit of a weirdo I agree with that!!

But I love From Up on Poppy Hill for lots of reasons!! (Warning: this will contain spoilers!!) I admire the type of character Umi is. She's disciplined and hardworking and dedicated and, ugh, the fact that she raises the flags every day??? When it was her dad who taught her how and she kept raising them when he was gone in hopes that it would lead him back home?? And she keeps doing it even though he never will? It makes my heart ache whenever I watch it.

It's also pretty funny, even if in a simple way. I always crack up when they're hosting the student council meeting and a fight breaks out and then the one student runs to tell everyone the principal's coming and everyone's like "OH SHIT" and they IMMEDIATELY unify and start singing. Also when Shiro and Shun are having a serious conversation while they're using the restroom, and when Umi drops Shun back into the water after holding out her hand, and uhhh there's probably some that I'm missing but I can't name any more off the top of my head right now LMAO.

Also the visuals! The music!! It makes for such a beautiful atmosphere for a real-world setting. Let me tell you, listening to the Breakfast Song is a GREAT way to start your day and get in the mood about being productive and feeling good about chores.

And I really, really love how all the students came together to save the clubhouse. Call me a sentimental sap, but I think there's something really great about them working hard to clean it up and give it love and life and turning it into something to be kept, even if a lot of them never used it in the first place.

All in all, I know it might seem like a weird Ghibli movie to like, and it's not like I don't love the other ones either, but I just think From Up on Poppy Hill remains pretty unseen and deserves a lot more love. Thanks for listening, anon!!

I feel bad that I had to go ALL CAPS on my co-worker this morning, but that was such a stupid decision to make. If you don’t have access to a file, don’t try to override the admin controls to create a new user and give them access. Which wouldn’t have worked anyway as it was an email from outside our system. It’s fairly obvious who has access to that file. If you read the fucking email! It’s an easy mistake to make I guess, but dear lord she nearly crashed the whole system. She only crashed part of it. I’ve fixed it for now.

Honestly the best thing tales of arise does is explain the protagonist dumbassery i do. My man literally cannot feel pain. This is deeply entrenched in the plot. And Thus it makes 100% sense why I fight with no fuckin thoughts about my own health, up to and including using a Sword That Hurts Me, so I am constantly low on health and my poor healer has to just be constantly healing me instead of using that cool gun of hers

I’d always dreamed of playing in Phantom on Broadway, but I’m beginning to think it’s a good thing I kept my few scraps of sanity to myself. Turns out, the middle school band room in us all never dies (ha. Love never dies) and just waits for the pressures of a crowded confinement chamber to reemerge.

one of my favorite this american life segments of late is about the people who played orchestra pit for phantom of the opera on broadway and how, like, a sizeable majority of them had literally been playing the show since it opened in 1988 (on broadway. I know it opened in 86 on the west end, you random pedants, but I am specifically talking about broadway musicians) because their contracts stipulated that they'd have jobs throughout the show's entire run... but nobody anticipated that phantom would become the longest-running broadway show of all time.

and none of these people wanted to walk away from a guaranteed job, so very few of them ever quit. they just kept doing the same show eight nights a week... for twenty or thirty years... and by the time it finally closed last year most of these musicians (who had been working together for DECADES) hated each other and really really fucking loathed phantom. I can't stop thinking about it. it's indescribably hellish to imagine but also the funniest thing I've ever heard in my life.
