I woke up later than usual today, the sun was up and shining, the house was quiet.

I walked slowly through the hallway, Sunday was quiet, and I made myself a coffee and some toast.

I wasn't in a rush, I breathed in the smell of the coffee, and I sat down and took a rest.

It rained outside without a noise, the world beyond my window was mute and pleasant.

Life didn't have to be a rush, or this push and pull to be the best, life always turned and tossed in a way to help you grow.

So I took it in stride, in my own time, without having to run for anyone.

I folded my laundry while playing my favourite playlist, I picked out a film to play in the evening and I decided I wanted to go on a walk.

I'm alive, and I'm present and I'm content.

It won't always be like this.

But I will enjoy the now.

My fiancé is out of town this week so I'm only meal prepping for one. I decided to go low effort with oven-roasted veggies served over quinoa. The veggies turned out so beautiful -- I love these colors!

Young Dorothy has been taking up an excessive amount of my thoughts for the past week or so, when something clicked the other day, and this happened.

Summary

Chronic fatigue syndrome. It makes sense to Dorothy the moment she hears it, and everything clicks into place. It feels like an inevitable consequence of the weariness that has been hollowing out her bones all her life; a life spent constantly drained, always fighting on the brink of collapse. It's as if now that her mind has finally settled, her body is making up for lost time. (Dorothy has been tired all her life. CFS is a different beast entirely, but it brings back memories)
