This was 100% inspired by @random-mailbox 's stunning photographs and @goddessalthena 's infectious need for an UsaMamo fic to go with them.

Summary: Serenity and Endymion spend some time beneath the night sky.

"That's not a star, Princess."

"It's not?"

Her tutor sighed. "No, Your Highness, it is not. We've been reviewing this lesson for weeks! How can you hope to rule the kingdom one day if you can't tell one planet from another? Or a planet from a star from an asteroid?"

By now, Serenity was used to her tutor's disapproving tone. It was a bit of a novelty really, when everyone else she treated with only ever spoke to her with the utmost deference.

"It's no trouble at all, Your Highness."

"No, no, clearly I was the one mistaken, Princess. I will remedy this at once."

"I'm so sorry, Your Highness! I was not expecting you, else I would make sure your favorite cakes were on hand. Please pardon this inexcusable lapse of duty."

Being above reproach had its usefulness, but more often than not, it just stultified conversations and made them barely worth her time. And that was a disappointment because she enjoyed good company, sincere company who knew her for who she was—not just the Crown Princess of the Silver Millennium, but a girl who loved sweets, daydreaming, and apparently could not remember her constellations even if they bit her beneath the skirts.

To be fair, however, she was not accustomed to seeing the stars from her current vantage point of Mars, where she and her mother were visiting for the season of fire festivals. How could she be expected to identify all those tiny little dots if they were moved all about?

Ignoring her tutor's exaggerated tsking, Serenity pointed at the blue pinprick of light that had caught her eye and asked, "What is it then if not a star?"

"Do you really not know?"

Serenity frowned, thinking her tutor was admonishing her again. There was really no need to rub salt into a wound. "I would have not asked if I did."

"That is your beloved Earth, Princess."

Clearly she needed more practice in hiding her true feelings. No one was supposed to know about her infatuation with the bright blue jewel of a planet that came to be perfectly framed in her bedroom window every night like a living tableau. She didn't understand why it must be kept at a distance when it was naturally so close, their literal celestial neighbor. When she was younger, she had simply accepted the Law. Perhaps there were unfriendly terrors there, like the monsters she believed were beneath her bed. Earth was so big, after all, compared to the Moon. A place like that could hide all sorts of horrors.

Of course, as she grew older, she realized there were no monsters beneath her bed, and there was no more reason to think they were on Earth either. But more than that, something else was drawing her eye to that planet, something more than just its beauty. It was like a tug on her soul, a compass in her heart yearning for North.

It would be many more years before she discovered what it was that compelled her so. Or more rather, who.

"You're glowing."

"Am I?"

Serenity lifted their shared blanket to peek beneath and saw that she was indeed emitting a soft white light, just bright enough to reveal the tartan pattern in the blue wool. Everything else was dark in this place they had stolen away to. That was exactly the point, so that they could see the stars in all their glory without any obstruction.

The sky seemed much more expansive here on Earth. She would swear the stars were more numerous, the celestial bodies more varied, and the patterns they made more brilliant. What she had once struggled to memorize, she could now name with ease. Endymion was a much better teacher than her old tutor had been. He was more patient, and kinder when she asked too many questions. Perhaps most importantly, he clearly loved the subjects that he taught. Pestering him to teach her everything about Earth had been as much about listening to him speak with that deep, ardent voice of his as about learning anything useful .

"You're going to make some stars turn away in envy if you keep that up," he chided her lightly. He was worse than her courtiers, the way he could turn a rebuke into a compliment. She supposed she should expect nothing less from a fellow royal.

"Stop making me so extraordinarily happy and perhaps I may leave the dark undisturbed."

"Is that what your light means? It may be more difficult than I expected to be discreet should we wish in the future to disturb the dark."

Beneath the blanket, she felt his hand trace her body from her shoulder to her waist and over the crest of her hip before coming to rest on the side of her thigh. Nothing too improper, and yet it felt so very intimate.

She reached for him in return, but it wasn't the same with his sturdier man's clothing. She pressed her palm to his chest instead. His tunic wasn't so thick as to prevent her from feeling his heartbeat through it. She wondered if all Earth men were as warm as Endymion was, at least in body. She doubted there could be another whose spirit was as warm as his, the very essence of love for all things good—life, beauty, and knowledge.

A bloom of light in her peripheral vision startled her, but Endymion turned towards the sky with obvious anticipation.

"What's going on?" she asked. She followed his gaze to where, just a few hands above the horizon, a greenish light was beginning to spread. "What is that?"

"You're about to meet your match, my radiant Moon Princess."

Serenity frowned, for Endymion usually made more sense than this. "What are you talking about?"

"Just watch. I have no explanation for it, but it is one of the most extraordinary things I have ever seen."

The reverence in his voice finally quieted her questions, and she did as she was told.

As they looked on, the green light grew broader and brighter, and was soon joined by streaks of yellow and purple and pink. Together they filled the entire sky, dancing in patterns that sometimes resembled smoke and other times water. Occasionally they ballooned upward, colors swirling and squiggling like the surface of an immense cosmic soap bubble.

It was indeed the most breathtaking thing Serenity had ever seen.

She watched in pure rapture, forgetting everything around her until Endymion very gently touched her face and brushed away tears she hadn't even realized had fallen.

"Are you all right?" he whispered when she spared him a glance.

"Oh, Endymion. When I thought your planet couldn't be any more beautiful, you prove me wrong. This is—" She looked up at a pink arc undulating overhead. "There are no words for this."

"Not yet," he said. "At least, as far as I know. Such beauty deserves a name, don't you think?"

"I agree. And I can't think of anyone more fit to name it than the Prince of Earth."

"I can think of one other."

"Oh?"

"Yes. This other has also been known to shine with a light that steals both wit and breath away. It seems to me only fitting for the luminous to name their kin. What say you, Princess?"

His silver words made her blush from her collar to the roots of her hair. Though the darkness likely hid her coloring well enough, it was pure reflex that made her pull the blanket over her face, which prompted a chuckle from Endymion. It took several moments before the fluttering in her stomach settled down enough for her to give a dignified answer befitting her station and the import of the task he had proffered her.

"I accept," she said primly.

"We are honored by your acceptance," Endymion replied, his mouth twitching as he struggled to match her tone.

She ignored his jest in favor of starting on her task. Such an empyreal marvel required a worthy name, something melodious yet august. Something divine. She called to mind all the myths and legends she had been taught, after which much of her kingdom was named.

"We have a story," she began slowly, "about a goddess who brings the first light of every day. It's described as the most beautiful sight, with more color than brightness so as not to hurt the eyes of the world which is just waking. Our dawns on the Moon are nothing like that. But this—" she gestured at the sky. "This is like how I've always pictured her light in the stories."

"We have a similar story about dawn as well," Endymion said. "Though ours is much more fiery."

Serenity smiled. "Yes, ours is much gentler. I think it would be a good name for your ethereal lights."

"What is your goddess's name?"

"Aurora."

Endymion nodded approvingly. "Very well." He turned his gaze skyward, where the lights were beginning to fade. "Upon thy beauty, we bestow this name, a divine and good name that is a gift from Her Royal Highness, the Princess Serenity of the Silver Millennium. If you accept, please give sign. And if you would, please keep her presence here a secret." He turned to wink at her, and Serenity giggled.

"Are you like this at court?" she asked. "All pretty words and grand decrees?"

"Heavens no. My court would be thrilled if I said half as much."

"Truly? I have not realized then how lucky I am to have so many of your words all to myself."

"I am the lucky one," he said. "But perhaps you aren't too far behind."

She rolled her eyes at his false conceit, but before she could reply, a renewed streak of bright green rippled across the sky.

"I do believe she has accepted your gift," Endymion said, his delight clear on his face.

"Which you have yet to speak. Come, let us hear you, Prince."

Endymion took her hand in his and boldly gave it a kiss before addressing the heavens.

"I dub thee, the aurora."

To all the people posting AGAIN about the companions "scene count" and everybody just links "Source" it's an INCORRECT COUNT that I pulled out of my ass PLEASE be aware of this It's a scene count that 1 player made from memory! Please stop sharing it as a fact that Astarion has WAY more scenes than all your other faves! Wyll has fewer scenes than the others and that's about the only correct thing in that count I am sure it's an honest mistake but OP forgot to count multiple Shadowheart scenes. Same goes for Lae'ezel (possibly Gale as well) OP counted scenes for Astarion when similar scenes trigger for the other characters as well (on the same night). but OP only counted the Astarion scene and even counted it as "possibly romantic" because Astarion flirts in the scene and well.... that is part of his personality. that does not make a lot of his scenes "romance scenes" 🥴💀 (And Shadowheart's flirting didn't make OP count her scenes as "possibly romance scene")

Chelley week, day 5: Stargazing

This time, I made it a little bit of a game find the difference! (they're like 3, maybe 4 depending on how you count them, don't break you're heads with this)

Also, I'm going to make a mixing with 3 topics in the last day... in the best of the cases n.nu so, for now, I'm just doing one for this day :)

I imagine you two already being well-acquainted friends with each other once he realized his feelings for you. For quite some time he had a crush on gwen but now his heart strings are pulling him towards you, so he's struggling when it comes to addressing his feelings.

If you're in the same room as Miles, he will stare. Any conversation that he was having before is long forgotten and all that's on his mind is you.

Miles doesn't need to study, he's one of the top students in school. But he continues to go on study dates with you because he likes being in your presence and sharing his headphones with you while eating yummy pastries.

He has an entire journal dedicated to you. Said journal includes: small journal entries of his day with you, little quotes of the funny/cute things you've said that stuck with him throughout the day, candid drawings of you that he created whenever you two hung out, cute sketches of you and him stargazing or slow-dancing together (and other secret drawings of him saving you as spider-man and cradling your body in his big strong arms but we won't get into that...)

Miles really can't get enough of you. He laughs extra loud at your jokes even if they aren't funny, his heartbeat quickens at the mention of your name, he'll offer you his jacket even if you don't need it, he always smiles when something reminds him of you, he'll share his headphones with you and shyly ask if you and him can make a "study playlist" (he listens to it at night while drawing you), and overall is just madly in love with you.

He wants to be with you more than anything, he's just struggling to find the right time to ask you. <3

"Hey, don't touch that! It's- No! It's not a diary, it's just...secret."

She's pretty awkward herself. You were assigned to be partners for a project that would play a big part in your final grade, she came off slightly cold and seemed to be annoyed at your presence which made your relationship start off rocky. In reality she was just stressed, juggling her spider duties, getting kicked out of her house, and then school on top of that, it was just a lot. But when you made the effort to plan things and work around her busy schedule (that you didn't really know anything about) she started to become grateful for you.

Your parents welcomed her kindly each time she came over to study and whenever she would leave she was happy with a full belly and a sore face from smiling and laughing with you all night. The project was supposed to be done by the end of the semester but you and gwen were able to finish it the first month you got it. That didn't stop her bi-weekly visits, that then turned weekly, until she was suddenly walking home with you everyday, from and to school.

She likes to compare hands, shoes, and height just to see the difference in sizes. On walks back from school she'll give you a piggyback ride if you ask nicely. She also likes laying her head in your lap, if you run your fingers through her hair she'd be fast-asleep within 5 minutes.

You and her tend to share your oversized clothes together, You always wash her jackets/sweaters after you wear them, which she absolutely loves. She's fallen asleep curled up in your hoodie, inhaling the scent and listening to whatever song you rambled about the previous morning on repeat until she finally asks you to just make her a playlist. Hobie definitely knows about you, only because she slipped up by saying too much.

She enjoys staying over your house during rainy days. She tends to tense up whenever you're watching tv together on your bed and your head falls on her shoulder. During missions in other spider-verses gwen has taken little souvenirs from different worlds and given them to you, she always does it in a nonchalant way as if she wasn't grinning ear to ear on her way back, excited to see how you'd react.

You don't have sleepovers often but when you do they always seem more intimate than your usual hangouts. When you wake up and see gwen flustered on the other side of the bed you never understand why, not knowing that when you were fast asleep she woke up cuddled into you, nuzzling her body into yours.

"I-uhm. I-uh just had a weird dream. Nothing to worry about, heh.."

It's very obvious he has a crush on you, it might as well be written on his forehead. He follows you around like a lost puppy. He's constantly offering to carry your books, opening doors for you, paying for your snacks, and even giving you hand massages when you've been writing an essay for too long. He's just completely whipped for you and you're not even dating (yet).

You were a transfer student and he was assigned to show you around Mumbai. He found himself getting giddy at your cute reactions to the different sights he took you to. He adored how you were filled with so much curiosity and wonder, the awestruck look in your eyes when you saw the pretty lights at night and just how genuinely excited you seemed to stay and explore Mumbai. Since then, he's been glued to your side.

He's such a gentleman, you can tell he was raised right. Whenever you're talking his full attention is on you, nobody else matters in this moment but you. He'll even get a bit upset if someone cuts you off, ignoring whatever they're saying and urging you to continue. His legs feel wobbly around you, he gets dizzy at the sight of you, and he feels like he's floating whenever you smile at him.

There have been multiple occasions where you've caught him staring at you, depending on how he feels that day he'll either smirk and gently wave or quickly turn away with a blush on his face. He gushes about you to Hobie and Miles all of the time. They know so much about you and they've never even met you.

A true romantic. He buys you a singular flower one week out of the day, always explaining the meaning and where they originate from. (all of them are a variation of romance/love)

He tends to lean into you whenever you speak. More than one person has pointed out that you both tend to mirror each other's actions. He's feigning for your touch more than anything, a simple brush of your shoulders and he's full on putty in your hands.

He won't outright confront you when he figures out you like him, instead he'll invite you on a nightly walk. Taking you up to a rooftop with a gorgeous view, and gently resting his jacket on your shoulders. You'll sit for a while enjoying the scenery before he turns to you and says...

"a person as beautiful as yourself shouldn't wander this world alone.."

☆ . . . hobie brown

What a nightmare. He is constantly teasing and flirting with you. Always doubling over in laughter when he sees you get all flustered and the words you so badly wanna spew at him get stuck in your throat.

I imagine you both to be spider-people, you're a little more stuck-up than he is which is why he likes to tease you so much. Little by little your reactions fueled something deeper in him. He no-longer found himself flirting with you because he liked seeing how aggravated he could get you but because that was his way of approaching you and saying all of the things he wanted to while being able to play it off as a joke.

Besides teasing you relentlessly, he can be really caring and attentive to you when he wants to be. If you're in the medic he'll stop by pretty often to make sure you're okay. The only reason you found out is because you woke up to him fast asleep next to your bedside, feet propped on your bed and his vest laid across his torso like a blanket.

He'll eat the foods on your plate that you don't like. If you fall asleep he'll lay his vest onto your body and even move your position if it looks uncomfortable. If he senses danger before you he'll move you of the way as fast as he possibly can, but if he's not close enough he'll give you a heads up before anyone else. He tends to stare at you sometimes, always smiling gently to himself.

When you two get closer as friends he'll play any song on his guitar if you ask him nicely. He'll even give you lessons if you really want them. Carefully throwing his guitar over your torso, he brings his much larger hands to yours. You can feel his chest against your back, and the waves of his warm breath on your neck as he teaches you how to play. He'll also let you wear his jacket, saying it looks better on you than him. He might let you keep it, only in exchange for one of your jackets. (he sleeps with your jacket on, it makes him feel close to you.)

Hobie often checks up on you during missions, sometimes saying teasing phrases to get you riled up but mostly to make sure you're holding up okay. "you alright there, peaches? you took quite the hit."

Once he finds out you like him, he eases up on the teasing, but he doesn't refrain from dropping subtle hints of his knowingness that you like him. He's just waiting for you to finally say something.

"Yknow, if i ain't know any better i'd say you were doing this 'cause you like me."

☆ . . . miguel o' hara

You worked beside him in Alchemax, the two of you were assigned as partners. At first he didn't care much for you, simply telling you to stay out of his way and that he didn't need any help, but after Lyla practically forced him to be a cordial lab partner and work with you, he started to take a liking towards you. Sadly, it took months for him to tolerate you and even longer for him to like you.

Although he was quite stuck-up and practically seemed on edge most of the time, you were able to break through those confined walls and have a comfortable-playful work relationship with him. Every-time you made a joke or a light quip about his attitude he'd always respond with sarcasm, still not being able to hide the tiny smile that graced his face at your foolish acts.

He always runs his projects by you before submitting them. (and then lyla to triple check) He'll stop by and pick up empanadas from his favorite store, always boasting about how it's the best in Nueva York and you'll never taste anything better. Eventually he brings in a hefty share of empanadas that you two share over lunch time, your conversation flowing naturally without the teasing but with a fluffier feeling flowing through the air.

He pretends to be annoyed when he catches you over-working but he's genuinely worried for you. Always shaking his head in a disapproving way when he finds you fast asleep on your desk, papers scattered, and drool falling past your lips. Quietly scolding you in spanish before throwing his lab coat over your shoulders and organizing your papers neatly.

He tends to act unbothered when you do something that shows you care for him but in reality it makes his heart stutter and his stomach feel all loopy. He hates it because it makes him feel like a middle-schooler when they get their first crush but another part of him absolutely adores it and his main motivation to get up to go to work in the morning is you, although he'll never admit it.

If a co-worker is ever rude to you he will be the first to defend you, not hesitating to get in their face with a nasty scowl painting his features. On Friday's he made it his personal mission to walk you home, you two slowly walk side-by-side, quietly laughing to yourselves as you reminisce on lab accidents and old memories. There's a slight gleam in his eyes when you make it to your apartment door. He turns to you almost hesitantly, before stepping closer to you. He whispers a question, so quiet and soft you almost wouldn't be able to hear it.

"Can I kiss you?"

One delivery does not go as planned. Astronomy Tower was a popular place to meet up even after curfew. Many see it as a romantic spot and meet up there to stargaze with their partner on a Friday night. Tonight however the sky was covered in clouds and there were no stars in sight. That's why a group of familiar boys hung out there. With this weather, nobody is surprised to see them smoking there. Nobody would also question the bubbling cauldron in the corner. Well, nobody should.

Light steps could be heard on the metal staircase, only catching the attention of two boys of the group. From the stairs, a familiar girl appears not noticing the boys yet as she plays with the note in her hand. At this time of day, she no longer wore her school-issued uniform. Her all-black outfit is broken up by the yellow ribbon in her hair. A look of confusion appears on her face as she notices the boys hanging out.

“ Group date?” She teases and walks to them, her arms falling alongside her body. A mocking ‘ haha’ is heard from Mattheo from the other side. The girl cannot tell if it's the mist or just an excessive amount of cigarette smoke that makes the air so stuffy. She makes her way over to the railing and leans her back on it, facing the group.

“ As if, I would have taken myself on something way more romantic. Trying to make moonshine is not my idea of a date, sunshine.”  Announces Draco, who is in charge of stirring said moonshine at the moment. Chuckles from his friends can be heard.

“Please, all you could manage is a box of candy and half-dead flowers.” Argues Blaise not even looking up from the oranges he's been cutting and dropping them in the cauldron.

“ Excuse me?” Draco whips his head to him.

“You are excused.” Blaise simply says. A string of words leaves Draco's mouth about how his friend is in the wrong and he should see what amazing dates he can take him on. The girl decides to tune those two out as their conversation seems way too personal to listen in. Her attention turns to two smoking boys standing next to her. 

“ Why, wanna join us?” Asks her Matteo, cocking his eyebrow. Shaking her head in disagreement, deciding she’s very much against that idea.

“ Why not? Who can say they have 5  boyfriends.” Argues Theo, cigarette loosely hanging from the corner of his mouth. 

“I hardly want to date a single individual, let alone all of you. It might be better for me to date a dementor.” She says. A fake offended gasp can be heard from the two. At the same time, Lorenzo approaches the three. He stands next to his friend and crosses his arms.

“None of us, hmm?” He says in a teasing tone. the girl just rolls her eyes and pushes herself off the railing. Turning to face the outside part. A laugh can be heard from them before Lorenzo speaks up again.

“You want me so bad.”

“What makes you say that?”

“The voices in my head are telling me.” He just shrugs and moves on to check on the moonshine. ‘ Unbelibelve ‘ leaves the girl quietly. Interested in the moonshine she follows him and sits down next to Draco.

“ What are you even doing here?” he asks giving up on the stirring and just charming the spatula. She raises the note in her hand to view. Before gloomily setting it on her lap. A noise of understanding leaves him before turning to Lorenzo for a conversation. The two other boys join the group and also it down.

“Is that one for us?” Theodor points out the note. She just shook her head but went to check her watch. Seeing the time she frowns and turns her gaze to the stairs, as if waiting for something. Before turning back to the group with a sigh.

“Oh god, are you here waiting for someone??” A shocked tone leaves Lorenzo as a horrified expression forms on his face. His friends are quick to follow with the same. Lastly, the girl forms a shocked face as well.

“What?? NO!” She yelps in a hurry and waves her hands in front of her. “ Why would you think that???”

“You're all gloomy! and no one comes here other than to meet up with their date! OH MY GOD, YOU GOT STOOD UP!” His hands fly to cover his mouth. The girl sits there in disbelief, her chin almost on the floor from Lorenzo's ‘amazing’ detective skills. A hand gently closes her mouth. She watches them all panic, unaware of what to do in a situation like this. Few not-so-comforting words are thrown in her direction.

“I'm not the one who's getting stood up! Technically.” She says making all of them come to a stop.

“What?” She lifted the note that was sitting on her lap. All eyes are on it.

“ The person who gave me this note is getting stood up.” Was all it took for cheers and sighs of reveal to be heard among the group. The note is snitched from her hand by Blaise as he opens it to read it. She chases it but unsuccessfully. After a few moments a confused look forms on his face.

“ This is a breakup note.” He just says a passes the note to Lorenzo next to him. The girls just nod.

“I was supposed to give it to the person, but he never showed up.” She explains. “ So I guess the feelings are mutual.” Silence falls upon them as the note makes her way to the girl. She sets it down in one of the many nooks on the wall.

“This is why you're so gloomy? Because someone else broke up? Girl, you had me worried.” Says Lorenzo and crawls to the girl. Inevitably, traps her in a makeshift hug as he lays on top of her. ‘ Mate, you heavy.’ leaves her but is muffled. The group returns to their usual chatter and ignores the two. After some time the girl manages to push her friend off her and to the side, where he now fake sobbed from a broken heart. Sitting up, she gets passed a cup of presumably finished moonshine.

She gives that one to her friend and takes the next one, giving it a proper smell. The boys around her, seemingly not worried about the safety of the cauldron made moonshine all chug it down in one motion. She takes a sip and immediately retracts from the cup. Her face twists in disgust. Setting the cup down, determined to never touch it again, she watches as her friends celebrate the bach. Conjuring up some snacks and filling their cups with another round of the disgusting liquid. Making a mental note, not to ever deliver the Slytherin moonshine as it could be a safety hazard.

The night went on as no other student dared to show up at the astronomy tower after hearing the group from the bottom of the stairs. Any deliveries forgot in a second.  None of them seem to notice the wind picking up, the note breakup note now gone. Later that night, when everything calms down. A soft chatter of the group can be heard. The girl gets a tap on her shoulder. Turning to her friend who motions for her to lean in.

“Ya know,” whispers Lorenzo, “If you made that all up, I understand. And, I heard I can be a great rebound…” The girl gets up from her spot, makes her way to the railing, and starts climbing over it. The only thing that stops her from jumping is male hands that pull her back to the group and laughter from the other boys.
