Dear President Biden,
We come together as artists and advocates, but most importantly as human beings witnessing the devastating loss of lives and unfolding horrors in Israel and Palestine.
We ask that, as President of the United States, you call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost. More than 5,000 people have been killed in the last week and a half – a number any person of conscience knows is catastrophic. We believe all life is sacred, no matter faith or ethnicity and we condemn the killing of Palestinian and Israeli civilians.
We urge your administration, and all world leaders, to honor all of the lives in the Holy Land and call for and facilitate a ceasefire without delay – an end to the bombing of Gaza, and the safe release of hostages. Half of Gaza’s two million residents are children, and more than two thirds are refugees and their descendants being forced to flee their homes. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach them.
We believe that the United States can play a vital diplomatic role in ending the suffering and we are adding our voices to those from the US Congress, UNICEF, Doctors without Borders, The International Committee of The Red Cross, and so many others. Saving lives is a moral imperative. To echo UNICEF, “Compassion — and international law — must prevail.”
As of this writing more than 6,000 bombs have been dropped on Gaza in the last 12 days — resulting in one child being killed every 15 minutes.
“Children and families in Gaza have practically run out of food, water, electricity, medicine and safe access to hospitals, following days of air strikes and cuts to all supply routes. Gaza’s sole power plant ran out of fuel Wednesday afternoon, shutting down electricity, water and wastewater treatment. Most residents can no longer get drinking water from service providers or household water through pipelines…. The humanitarian situation has reached lethal lows, and yet all reports point to further attacks. Compassion — and international law — must prevail.” – UNICEF spokesperson, James Elder
Beyond our pain and mourning for all of the people there and their loved ones around the world we are motivated by an unbending will to stand for our common humanity. We stand for freedom, justice, dignity and peace for all people – and a deep desire to stop more bloodshed.
We refuse to tell future generations the story of our silence, that we stood by and did nothing. As Emergency Relief Chief Martin Griffiths told UN News, “History is watching.”

hi queennnn , can
you do prompt 16 with luke hughes thanks !
( happy holidays !:)
electric - luke hughes ❄️
-
as the snow falls on the cold december night, luke and i decorate the inside of the apartment, covering it in twinkling lights, bright garlands, with a huge tree to top it all off. putting decorative pillows on luke's dark blue couch and festive blankets of red and green in the basket beside it.
luke knows how good my decorating skills are, so he invited me over to help him. he wants to surprise jack and his teammates when the come over for luke's holiday party the next day since the devils have a few days off from games and practice. jack was off at dawson's apartment for the night and won't be back until the next evening for the party.
the christmas music rang out loudly through the living room, dining room, and kitchen. with luke and i singing along happily, i'm surprised we haven't gotten a noise complaint. i smile and laugh as luke dances around with a holographic garland wrapped around his neck, singing along to the music with a certain sass the makes me double over in laughter.
i give my knee a little slap, watching as luke laughs along with me and takes off the garland from around his neck, placing around the bottom of the tv on the entertainment center. he adjusts the placement a few times until it's perfect, smiling once he's done. "is this good?" he asks, looking over at me for approval.
"yeah, i love it! i was gonna put the green one there but i think i like that one better." i say, stepping back to look at it from a distance. "now, what color garland for the tree?" i ask, stepping back and looking into the box, pulling out various colored garlands, some with little foil lights or snowflakes, even some snowmen here and there.
luke walks over to me and presses a finger to his bottom lip, "hmm..." he inspects the different garlands, looking around the room to see which one will match the current decor more, i assume. "i think the iridescent one will work well." he smiles, holding it up.
i look at it, smiling. "definitely! will you help me put it on?" i ask, walking over to the undecorated tree. luke nods and walks over to me, a long strand of the iridescent garland in his hand.
we carefully drape it on the fake needles of the tree, passing it from one side to the other once as we wrap it around. once we finished placing it on, we got started on the ornaments. luke and i both prefer a more traditional style tree, filled with bright and colorful lights, hand painted ornaments, and ornaments that symbolize different occasions like moving in, becoming friends, and so many more.
luke and i always save one ornament for last, the bright red and glittering ball that has all the members of the hughes family's handwritten signature, along with mine. the hughes family practically took me in when i moved to michigan at 18, my college scholarship causing me to move further away from my own family.
i met luke when we took a class together and we were sat beside each other. we started talking and have eventually grown to be the best friends we are now, even though our bond has been tested with rumors and lies from other people and even sometimes ourselves, our friendship has lasted and only grown stronger.
ellen and jim took me in like their own child when luke brought me to his house one day to work on a project for class. they practically made me stay for dinner and i felt at home almost instantly from their kindness and happy family dynamics. i've been a part of their family ever since that night and i could never be more grateful.
i smile as we place the final ornament on the tree together, front and center. although, i can't help but feel a slight heat creeping up my cheeks when our fingers brush against each other. once we finish placing the ornament, we step back and look at the tree. luke wraps an arm around my shoulder, pulling me in this side with a smile.
i place my head on his chest, smiling wide. "it looks great luke...way batter than last year's disaster of a tree." i say, laughing.
last year, we had jack and trevor helping us decorate the tree. as soon as the two guys decided they were going to put on the garland, luke and i immediately regretted it. the tree was messy and a little funny looking. it was also leaning on one side since they decided to hang all the heavy ornaments on one side of the tree. it wasn't perfect, but it was still pretty and a little nostalgic.
luke laughs, "yeah...that was just bad." he lets go of my shoulder, "who puts on the star this year? trevor practically begged to do it last year so i don't remember who's turn it is."
"you can do it, it doesn't matter to me." i say, pulling out my phone to take a photo as he climbs on the step stool and begins to place the glowing star on top of the tree. "smile!"
luke holds the star in place as he turns to smile at the camera, laughing a little. i snap a few pictures, "okay, you're good!" he comes down from the ladder after making sure the star is perfectly placed, then walks over to look at the photos.
we swipe through some from earlier and then the ones with the star, we both smile at them, until we get to the really goofy photo i got of luke as he was actively putting the star on the tree. his face is contorted into a look of confusion and almost frustration from not being able to get the star to stay in place.
luke's mouth drops open in shock as he laughs. "delete that right now!" he says, trying to take the phone from me. i mange to fight him off, laughing along with him.
"your parents are gonna love that one!" i laugh, zooming in on his face and laughing a little harder. "i'll send it to her later."
we finish up the decorations and i grab my purse. "well, it's late. i'll see you tomorrow before the party?" i ask, looking down at my phone. i wrap my hoodie around me tighter, putting my hands in the pockets.
"yeah, i'll walk you out." luke says, grabbing his jacket and phone, along with his apartment keys. "don't need you getting snatched up by some creep tonight." he jokes with a little laugh.
"thanks!" i smile, walking out of his apartment and down the hall with him. we ride in the elevator in a comfortable silence the whole way down, walking out of the front doors to the apartment building parking lot.
"damn, it's cold out here." luke says, wrapping his jacket further around his body with a shiver as he looks around at the snow.
i pull my hood up, not really wanting to deal with the wet snow in my hair tonight. i look over at luke as we walk to my car. "yeah...too cold."
i unlock my car as we get closer, huffing out a deep breath of air that shows in the air as we walk. luke looks over at me as well, smiling. "you know...i'm a little worried about you driving in all this snow." he says, suddenly looking a little nervous as he opens my car door for me.
"i drive in snow all the time, it'll be alright." i smile at him, trying to reassure him that i'll be alright.
"but this is different. it's heavier and deeper, your tires aren't made for snow like this." his face drops into a more serious look, his eyes boring into mine.
"luke, i promise i'll be okay." my face softens as i reach out a hand to grab his.
"no, just stay with me for the night. i can take you home tomorrow morning to get ready for the party and bring you back." he says, the grip he has on my hand tightening.
"are you sure? i don't want to be a bother." i frown.
"i'm so sure." luke says, taking a step towards me as he looks down and into my eyes. there's something different in his gaze this time, it's almost like love.
"luke..." i look up at him, my gaze softening.
"shut up." he places his hands on my cheeks, leaning down until his lips are almost touching mine. "is this okay?" his almost whispers to me.
i can't find the words to speak, but my head nods yes. he leans in immediately, his lips meeting mine in a hesitant but electric kiss. the world around me slows, the snow falling on our cold bodies as he pulls me closer to him, the kiss deepening. my stomach flutters with attraction and adoration, my head spinning.
after our kiss ends, he pulls me impossibly closer, holding me tight. "stay." he says gently, pulling away to look at me. "i want you stay with me tonight."
i nod slowly, feeling his hand come up to cup my cheek once more. "okay..." i smile softly, leaning into his warm touch. "i'll stay."
his face turns into a smile, wide and full of happiness. "i didn't know...how to tell you. so i thought i would just show you." he gently rubs my hip with his thumb.
"luke, it's alright. i like you too..." i laugh a little, placing my hand over his. "i was afraid that it would ruin what we have..."
"no. nothing could ruin what we have, sweetheart." the nickname making my cheeks heat pink, my heart melting with love. "nobody and nothing could ruin us."
"oh luke..." i say, pulling him back down to me for another kiss. our lips crash together, the feeling making my knees almost buckle. his hands reach up to grab my waist, holding me up and in his arms comfortably.
everything is so clear now. the nervous glances, the way we both blush when we accidentally touch hands, the way we care for each other more than anyone else. it's all so natural and beautiful, our love for each other will only grow stronger and stronger as we go on.
luke and i walk back to his apartment hand in hand, smiling wide with happiness and newfound love for each other that definitely doesn't go unnoticed by our friends and family at the annual holiday party the next day.

February 6th, 2005
Camila’s Sunday had been a fairly uneventful day, having spent the majority of it on the couch with her mother. The two had spent their afternoon watching some of the movies they had recently unpacked from the move. Camila had been happy to spend some much needed quality time with her mother and even happier to spend that time avoiding the topic that had been weighing on the family heavily for the past week. In reality, she didn’t actually know how many more good days with her mother she was going to get by the end of all of this, and she wanted to cherish whatever time she had left.
Her mother had just popped in the second tape for the movie Titanic when her father arrived home, arms full with two large pizza boxes as he dropped his things by the door. Camila’s face blossomed into a bright smile. Regardless of her dwindling appetite, pizza would always be her favorite and she couldn’t have thought of a more ideal evening with her parents. So the family sat together, watching as the movie’s plot took a rather unfortunate turn for disaster, eating their greasy pizza off of paper plates.
Of course, in the end, as it always happened, no matter how much Camila had hoped for a different outcome, the lovely Jack Dawson had frozen to death holding the hand of his lover and she was left to wonder if she would end up leaving Jasper in a similar state of despair when her time was up. Deep down she knew that his offer of eternity in his arms was growing more and more tempting and the likelihood of her ever leaving his side was dwindling as the days passed by. Her feelings for him were growing day by day as well and she was well past the point of no return she feared.
Being in love was a scary and vulnerable thing as it was, but given everything else about her situation, it was nothing less than terrifying, albeit a good kind of terrifying. Her thoughts had become an endless cycle of him, and she knew she was done for. The idea of being in love so quickly would’ve made her scoff and roll her eyes previously, but now that she found herself very much in love with Jasper, she knew that what she had once thought was impossible was the truth.
The feelings she held in her heart for Jasper triumphed any idea of love she had previously held. She had never been one to believe in the foolish idea of love at first sight, but as she looked back at the moment she had met him she couldn’t imagine anything closer to describe it as. She knew that if she already felt this strongly for him, that her feelings would only grow to an incomprehensible intensity with time.
It was after the sun had set when he had come knocking on her window, giving the glass a light tap with his knuckles as a warning before he entered through the opening into her bedroom. She had given him a small tired smile, gesturing for him to join her on the bed. He moved forward, sinking into his usual spot as she took hers with her head on his chest, letting out a sigh of contentment.
How was the game?” She asked, bringing her hand up to lay on the soft cotton of his t-shirt.
Jasper smiled, wrapping an arm around her protectively. “It was good, Patriots won.” He said simply, knowing she was just being polite in asking, having no interest in the game herself.
In all truth, he hadn’t spent much of his time actually paying attention to the sport, his thoughts being rather caught up on the girl who was currently curled up against him. He tried his best to show interest as he knew that Emmet had been looking forward to it, but he couldn’t help but be disappointed at his past self for promising to spend the day away from Camila. Of course, at the time he had no idea that he would be missing school the two days that followed, which had definitely added to the torture. Torture that was given brief recesses by his nightly visits.
“That’s good, I’m glad you enjoyed it…” She said, trailing off into a yawn, covering her mouth with her palm. “I’m sorry, I promise you’re not boring me, I’m just so exhausted.” She explained, slightly disappointed in herself as she had been looking forward to seeing him all day and knew that his presence would be missed at school the next morning.
He sighed, running his fingers delicately along her spine, raising goosebumps to the surface of her skin. “You don’t need to apologize Darlin’, sleep.” He said, laying a kiss on her head as he breathed in the comforting scent of her.
“You won’t be bored?” She asked, looking up at him through her lashes as she attempted to fight the sleep off.
Jasper smiled lightly. “Is it creepy if I said that I actually enjoy watching you sleep?” He asked, arching a curious brow at her.
Camila snickered softly. “A little bit.” She admitted cheekily.
Jasper’s chest shook with a slight chuckle at her bluntness. “I can’t help it, you just look so peaceful.” He explained, giving her a bright smile, teeth shining in the moonlight.
Camila lifted her head slightly, getting a better look of the beautiful smile he had been graciously sharing with her. “Do you ever miss being able to sleep?” She asked, curiosity coursing through her.
He looked up in though for a moment, eyes coming back, meeting her own as he gave his answer. “Sometimes. It’s been so long, so I don’t really know what I’m missing out on I suppose.” He admitted, his cool fingers lifting to brush the hair from her face. He leaned forwards slightly, pressing his lips lightly to hers in a soft kiss, breaking away with a grin as he listened to her heart rate pick up from the touch. “Stop stalling, sleep.” He urged.
Camila groaned, rolling her eyes playfully as she lowered her head back to his chest. “Fine.” She muttered, letting her eyes flutter closed.
Jasper’s eyes lingered on her sleeping frame as he concentrated on the beating of her heart. Her tank top hung loosely on her frail shoulders, her chest slowly rising and falling as she sucked in the deep breaths of sleep.
The burn in his throat persisted, Camila’s parents’ blood pumping heavily through their veins in such close proximity. Although he knew that his thirst hadn’t wavered, being so near the humans had grown easier to manage over time. Easier to let his mind wander on thoughts of Camila rather than thoughts of bloodlust. It was times like these that he missed being able to sleep, wanting nothing more than to hold her in his arms and be able to dream of her.
So, instead he spent this time day dreaming of her. Day dreaming of the future they may one day have with each other. Thoughts of being able to not only drape his arm around her body, but truly hold her. He knew that he was getting carried away, but he couldn’t help it. He couldn’t help it that when he pictured his future, she was always there at his side, or rather she was there in the forefront, his future itself.
——————
February 7th, 2005
Camila awoke in the morning to her mother gently shaking her. Vaguely, she remembered, a half asleep goodbye from Jasper, followed by a soft peck to her forehead that must have happened only minutes before. A frown settled on her face, not yet mentally prepared to face the day without her favorite person by her side. She knew she would see him later, that much he had assured her, but that didn’t stop her from dreading spending the next two school days without him in attendance.
She was however, looking forward to seeing Angela once more, slightly giddy at the fact that she would be able to tell her that Jasper was now officially her boyfriend. She had refrained from telling her mother of this, knowing that it would only raise questions, besides, her mother knew her too well, and the last thing she really needed was a confirmation.
So she had begrudgingly pulled herself out of bed and into the shower. The cool stream of water stifled the heat of her skin as the stream ran down her spine. Gravity weighed down on her bones, a deep ache radiating through her body. She would be sure to take her meds today, knowing that the pain would only intensify as the hours went on. Although she hated to rely on the pills, she knew that it was necessary, especially given the fact that Jasper would not be there to help distract her.
The ride to Forks High School was rather quiet, the air around her and her mother filled with soft crunching of Camila’s protein bar. She forced herself to swallow the unsavory food, knowing that she needed the nutrients, regardless of how much she hated the aftertaste. When the van finally came to a stop in front of the dreary building. She quickly stuffed the remainder of her breakfast in her mouth, grabbing her bottle of water as she mumbled something resembling a goodbye to her mother, giving a quick side hug to the woman.
The fluorescent lit hallways were filled with cheerful chatter, no doubt a side effect of the irregularly sunny day. The ring of the bell rang shrilly signaling the time for first period, and she was surprisingly happy to sit down in the class. The teacher quickly gave them work to do in pairs and she was thankful to be able to speak to the girl without risking getting in trouble for talking in class.
“Soooo…” She drew out dramatically, gaining the attention of the girl sitting next to her. Angela looked to her, eyes peering over the rim of her glasses quizzically. “Jasper may or may not officially be my boyfriend now.” She informed, watching as a giant smile formed on the girl’s lips in response.
“Oh my god. I knew it!” She squealed in delight, teeth shining in the fluorescent lighting. “Tell me more, I’m begging.” She said, dramatically clutching her hands together as she pushed her bottom lip out in a pout.
Camila smiled lightly, a bright blush covering her cheeks as she thought of what to tell the girl that wouldn’t give too much away. “I met his parents this weekend.” She said, opting to add Carlisle in on the meeting as she shouldn’t have had any reason to have met him previously.
Angela’s eyes widened dramatically. “Woah, that’s kinda serious, huh?” She asked, wiggling her eyebrows playfully.
The heat burned red hot on her face as Camila looked down at the workbook in front of her bashfully. “Kinda, yeah.” She muttered, smile unwavering from her lips.
“So they’re ridiculously attractive too, right?” Angela asked, nudging the girl’s shoulder.
Camila snickered lightly. “Of course.” She admitted.
Angela perked up in her seat. “So, does this mean that he’s going to take you to prom now?” She asked expectantly, grinning from ear to ear.
Camila’s smile dropped slightly, forcing herself to not let it falter completely. “No.” She said simply, watching as Angela gave an indignant pout. “We already had plans to spend time with each other, and I’m not much of a prom kind of girl I guess.” She explained feebly, hoping the girl would except her answer without much fuss.
Angela sighed disappointedly. “Fine.” She grumbled.
“But don’t worry.” Camila chirped. “I promise to help find the best dress for you.” She said, smiling brightly. Angela’s lips quirked up in answer, happy to hear the words, and conversation quickly changed topic to getting their work done, neither of the two wanting to have to take the work home to do that night instead.
——————
Jasper’s day had drug on at a ridiculously slow pace, the absence of Camila glaringly obvious as he attempted feebly to read one of the books off of his shelves. His eyes scanned the pages, knowing deep down that it was of no use. He wasn’t actually absorbing any of the information, as his mind was clearly elsewhere. He wondered, as he recalled the time before he had met Camila, which in reality had only been a short time ago, how he had occupied his time like this. It now all seemed so monotonous, the same books over and over again, growing bored quickly of them, regardless of how much he had previously cared for the stories. He knew them all by heart by now and he made a mental note to try and get some new book recommendations later from Camila.
Once again, his mind had quickly returned to thoughts of the girl. Shocker. How was he expected to have to do this whole thing again just a day later. It was already torture enough as it was. At least, he reminded himself, that he would have the night that he would be able to see her, even if it was just to be in her company as she slept. It surprised him that such a thing didn’t bore him, although he did understand the appeal. The feel of her warm skin against his own cool body, the steady beat of her heart in his ears, everything was a reminder that, at least for now, she was alive and with him. While at the moment, being away from her felt like nothing but a waste of their time.
Jasper looked over to the clock on the wall for what had to be the thousandth time that day. She would be leaving school now, just that much closer to when he would be able to see her. He would have to wait until the sun set of course. His family were supposed to be out of town camping, so he knew he couldn’t risk anybody seeing him, regardless of if he were to be seen in direct sunlight or not.
It was days like this that made him question the humans in the town’s intelligence, them all seeming to except their rather lousy excuse for missing school fairly easily. Perhaps it had to do with the fact that most people viewed them as outcasts already, but really, what parent would agree to pull their kids out from school just because it happened to be a sunny day? He supposed he should be grateful for their ignorance, but at the moment, all he could do was stare impatiently at the pages of his book, willing time to somehow go by faster.
After an agonizing wait in which felt like eternity, the sun had finally set, and in a blink of an eye, he had fled the glass house, determined to make this the fastest run of his life. As the small pale yellow house came into view, he felt like he could breath again. In truth, he hadn’t noticed the weight on his chest until it had lifted. Unlike their usual routine, when Jasper rounded the corner, he could see her, sitting at the open window, gazing out at the night sky. When her eyes finally met his own, a small smile spread across her face.
“I got overheated.” She explained, stepping back from the open window to allow him inside. It was the truth, one of the many side effects of her illness had caused her to have hot flashes and she had awoken in a particularly bad one at that, but she would be lying if she had said it was the only reason she had been staring out into the wilderness that night. She hadn’t realized just how difficult it would be for her to miss Jasper’s company that day, having already had a drastically decreased amount of time with him that weekend, and she had been counting down the minutes until sunset.
Jasper smiled, pulling her into his cool chest, knowing that the temperature difference would help sooth her without the risk of catching a cold from the chilled February night air. Her face nuzzled into the icy fabric of his clothing, sighing as she allowed herself the comfort of his embrace. All too soon, Jasper parted ways, only to shut the window and drag her to her bed to get comfortable, pulling her back into himself.
“How was school?” He asked, muttering the words into her hair as he rested his head atop hers.
She groaned out a dramatic sound. “Horrible.” She said bluntly, earning a laugh from the golden haired vampire.
He rolled his eyes playfully at her words. “It couldn’t have been that bad, could it?” He asked.
Camila lifted her body, coming to a seat next to him as he wrapped his arm securely around her waist. “Yes actually.” She stated matter of factly. She thought for a moment, looking for the right words that wouldn’t make it seem like his absence alone had completely ruined her day. “It was nice to see Angela and Bella, but Tyler wouldn’t leave me alone.” She groaned out.
Camila had been lucky to avoid Tyler for the most part, but unfortunately, he had of course taken notice of Jasper’s absence and had decided that it was the best time to try and be friends again. Much to her annoyance, he had talked her ear off during lunch and only continued to do so on their way to biology class. All of the talking had created a particularly horrible headache behind her brow and she begged whatever higher power there was that he would shut up for once in his life.
She internally scolded herself for being continuously friendly to him, but realistically, it wasn’t like she could just turn around and be an ass to him when he hadn’t actually done anything wrong since he had apologized. Unfortunately for herself, she had convinced herself to be as kind as possible to everybody unless given a reason not to be. The reality of it was that she didn’t have the time nor energy to be unkind, something the she was starting to question was showing to be true in this case.
By the time their calculous class came around, she was for once happy to have silence. Although she would have much preferred to have Jasper’s company, she was glad to have peace and quiet for the first time that day. She had never been so thankful that they had assigned seats and Tyler was stuck far away from her, finally giving her space to breath. Her head had continued to pound relentlessly as she counted down the minutes until she would be able to return home, take her meds, and sleep off the migraine. A sleep that she had just recently woken from.
Tyler. The boys name had caused Jasper’s body to stiffen. He knew it wasn’t his right to be bothered by him, but in all truth he couldn’t stand the boy. Maybe it was mostly jealousy, but he had jus rubbed him the wrong way from the beginning. “He wouldn’t shut up, and I’m not trying to be rude, but we aren’t even really friends and he was giving me a headache.” She admitted, a grimace casted on her face.
Jasper laughed lightly, relieved that the boy hadn’t gone and upset her with his words yet again. “Only one more day, and we’ll be back. I promise to scare him off.” He joked, a smirk unwavering on his lips.
Camila threw her head back in a groan as she pouted her lips childishly, Jasper desperately wanting to kiss the pout away. “I don’t know if I’ll make it.” She said dramatically.
Jasper leaned forwards, bringing his lips to hers, deciding to not hold back any longer as he gave her a light kiss upon her lips. She smiled into his touch, the playful pout melting instantly as she molded her mouth to his. He pulled away, not allowing the kiss to last too long. He gave her a sheepish smile before speaking. “If it makes you feel any better, I was almost bored to death without you.” He admitted.
Camila smiled lightly, glad to know that the ‘torture’ was not one sided. One more day and he would be back, she could do it, right? “I’m almost tempted to skip tomorrow.” She admitted. “But I promised Angela that I would go prom dress shopping with her in Port Angeles after school, so I can’t really act sick for half the day very easily.” She continued.
Jasper quirked an eyebrow at his girlfriend. “Are we going to prom?” He asked confused. He had been sure the event had been off of the table given her physical limitations, but now he wasn’t so sure. Perhaps she had changed her mind now that they were dating. Maybe it was him who dropped the ball when he hadn’t asked to make sure his theory was correct.
She shook her head. “No, defiantly not. Even if I could go, I don’t think I’d want to. I’d rather just spend time alone with you.” She admitted, allowing Jasper to let out an internal sigh of relief. “I just promised to help her find a dress is all.” She said.
He nodded his head in understanding, ignoring the lump in his throat. He wasn’t sure why, but for some reason, the idea of her being out in the city without him made a chill go up his spine, even if the reality of it was impossible. Realistically what could go wrong? She would be out with friends and she would be able to sit the majority of the time. Regardless, he couldn’t shake the feeling of something bad happening. “Text me if you need me to pick you up early.” He said, receiving a gracious nod from her in response.
He tried his best to shake his unease as he sat with her, holding her, and allowing the touch of her blazing skin on his own to calm the racing thoughts in his mind. He changed the subject, remembering to ask for book recommendations as he attempted to steer his mind from the unnecessary panic that refused to leave.
——————
February 8th, 2005
Camila had never wished more to take her jacket off, the heat of the day causing a sheen of sweet to cover her forehead, despite the temperature not being above seventy. Of course, the entire school had decided to sit outdoors, given the ‘beautiful’ weather, and the long sleeves that she wore were beginning to stick to her skin. She wondered briefly if it was worth it to try and cover the bruises with makeup rather than the extra layer of fabric.
Her thoughts halted as she realized that this solution would only end up solving one of her two issues. Her bones would still continue to protrude from her muscles, something that was sure to only get worse as she grew sicker and sicker. The last thing she needed was people growing concerned of her health in any way shape or form.
She shook the thoughts from her head, looking up from the unappetizing food to Bella who was sat opposite on the picnic table. The girl’s eyes wandered around at the crowd of students gathered in the unusual sunny grounds, seemingly anxious about something. “He’s not here.” Jessica spoke from her spot atop the table where she perched soaking in the rays of sunshine. Bella looked up, slightly embarrassed that she had been caught looking for him. “Whenever the weather’s nice, the Cullens disappear.” She explained, eyes closed as her face tilted up towards they sky.
Bella looked to her, slightly confused. “What, do they just ditch?” She asked curiously.
“No, Dr. and Mrs. Cullen yank them out for, like hiking and camping and stuff.” Jessica explained. Camila hummed, a small smirk forming on her lips. Was this really the excuse they had come up with? It was kind of lame is she was being honest. Very vague at lease, but did she really expect anything else at this point? “I tried that out on my parents. Not even close.” Jessica continued, earning a snicker from Camila.
Angela rushed towards the group, her long brunette hair falling over her shoulders as she settled into a spot next to Bella. “Bella, are you sure you have to go out of town for prom? Camila isn’t going either. It’s going to be lonely without you guys.” She said, giving a dramatic pout.
Bella grimaced at the question, seemingly just as perturbed as anytime Camila had been asked about the topic. “Oh, yeah, it’s a little family thing.” She explained dismissively. She turned to Camila, arching an eyebrow at the girl. “You’re not going?” She asked, surprised by the fact that she had not been the only one in the small town that hadn’t wished to attend the event.
“What? Couldn’t find a date?” Jessica asked, attempting to pass the snide remark off as a playful joke. Camila’s face dropped, giving her a slight glare not allowing the girl’s comment to pass without a reaction from her.
Angela perked up, wanting to defend her new friend. “Actually, her and Jasper are dating, but apparently neither of them wanted to go, so they made other plans.” She said, smiling as she gave Camila a teasing glance, causing a blush to creep up to her cheeks. Of course, anytime anyone mentioned him, she had to blush like a little girl with a crush. Honestly, who was she kidding? She wasn’t any better than that anyway.
Jessica grimaced at the information, muttering something about Jasper ‘being even more of a weirdo than Alice’, earning an even more intense glare from Camila. “Okay, are we still good to go shopping in Port Angeles? I want to go before all the good dresses get cleaned out.” She asked Angela, deflecting the negative attention from the girl beside her.
Angela nodded enthusiastically, smiling at Camila as she nodded as well. A shrill bell rang throughout the courtyard, signaling the end of the lunch period. Camila stood, grabbing her lunch tray from the table, attempting to hide how little she had eaten from the greasy array of food with her crumpled up napkin.
Bella hesitated as the students began to head inside for the next half of classes for the day. “Port Angeles? You mind if I come?” Bella asked.
“Yeah, I need your opinion.” Angela said, grinning widely. Camila sighed, happy that she would have another friend there as a buffer between her and Jessica. It was no secret that the two didn’t like each other. Jessica clearly didn’t like to be talked back to in any sense of the phrase, and Camila wasn’t one to just sit there and take her bullying lightly. The two were bound to butt heads, but luckily she would have Angela and Bella there to lighten the blow of the inevitable disagreements that were to come.
——————
“I like this one, but, like I don’t know about the whole one shoulder thing.” Jessica said, holding the pink spaghetti strap dress in front of her body in the mirror to get a good look at herself. Angela nodded saying something about how the color looked good against her skin.
Angela held up a dress of her own. “I like this one. What do you think?” She asked Camila expectantly, a bright look in her eye.
Camila smiles taking in the sight before her, trying her best not to grimace as the headache pounding behind her temple got worse. “Yeah, I like the beading, and you wouldn’t need jewelry.” She argued, giving her best effort in sounding like she was interested and not like she was in a lot of pain. She pulled at the collar of her shirt, a cold sweat covering her forehead. Great, another hot flash, just what she needed.
They had been in the same dress shop from what seemed like hours and had barely gotten anywhere when it came to actually finding dressed for the two girls in front if her. Of course, within that time, her pain meds had completely worn off and the ache in her bones was beginning to rival the pounding in her head.
Angela turned. “Jess, what do you think? Lavender?” She asked the girl, gesturing to dress she was currently wearing. “Is that good? Is that my color?” She continued, fidgeting with the fabric that clung to her body.
“I like it.” Jessica said quickly. “I like that dusty rose one, too.” She said, turning back to the mirror to admire her own reflection. “Okay, I like this one. It makes my boobs look good.” She said, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
Knocking on the glass of the window behind her, Camila turned to see a group of four men passing by, all ogling over the girls in the shop before them. “Nice!” One of them yelled, loud enough for the group of girls to hear them through the glass. Camila grimaced lightly at the interaction.
Jessica scoffed, clearly flattered given the wide grin on her face. “That is uncomfortable.” She said, voice trailing off.
“That’s disgusting.” Bella muttered, looking down at the book in her hands, earning an absent minded nod from Camila.
Jessica perked up once more. “Bella, what do you think?” She asked.
Bella looked up, finally giving the two dresses attention as her eyes left the pages of her book. “That looks great.” She said dismissively.
“You said that about, like, the last five dresses, though.” She said, smile dropping slightly as she twirled her hair around her finger.
Bella smiled bashfully. “I thought they were all pretty good.” She said, laughing lightly.
Angela looked towards the two girls sitting on the cushioned bench. “You guys aren’t really into this are you?” She asked frowning.
Camila’s smile dropped, feeling bad that she wasn’t giving Angela the experience she had been looking for. She was trying to sounds enthusiastic, but if she was being honest, she really didn’t care about the dresses at all. All she had wanted was to spend some time with friends outside of school, but now, with the music playing throughout the store, the bright lights, and the hundreds of questions about her opinion of the different dresses they had tried on over the past hour, she was just tired and overstimulated. The pounding of her temples proved that she couldn’t take it much longer.
“I actually really just want to go to this bookstore.” Bella admitted, giving an apologetic smile. “I’ll meet you guys at the restaurant?” She suggested.
Camila’s ears perked up at this, a perfect excuse to finally leave this god forsaken dress shop. “Do you mind if I come with? I could use some fresh air.” She asked, knowing she would most likely regret it soon, needing to walk to the book shop, but not being able to help herself. If she was being honest, she was almost certain that if she stayed in this shop one more minute her head might explode. Bella nodded, grabbing her coat before leading the way to the door outside.
Camila let out a sigh of relief as the cool air hit her face, glad to finally be free of the stuffy environment of the shop. Pain ricocheted up her legs as her steps landed on the pavement, attempting to give the pain little thought as she was just glad to have some quiet and cool air on her skin. It frustrated her to no end of course that she was incapable of doing such a simple thing as going shopping with friends, but she would be lying if she said that she hadn’t thought something like this was likely to happen. She would, however, enjoy it while it lasted, knowing she wouldn’t even have the opportunity to do so for much longer.
It was moments like this that made her happy that Bella was a particularly quiet person, and if she was being honest, she quite enjoyed the girls silent company. Her migraine was finally starting to subside as the small book shop came into view. Camila gave Bella a soft smile as she opted to stay outside in the cool air. She checked behind her, to make sure the girl had entered the shop before tearing the long sleeved zip-up hoodie from her frail arms, letting a sigh of relief leave her lips as the cool wind hit her blazing skin.
She looked down at the pale skin the stretched loosely across her arms, the area scattered with varying shades of bruises. She knew she would only have a moment of sweet relief before Bella returned, so she closed her eyes and chose to savor the time she had been allowed. Her eyes opened, gazing out at the sunset before her. She hadn’t actually realized how late it had gotten and internally scolded herself for the missed time she would end up having with Jasper that night.
She sucked in a deep breath, taking note of how her chest tightened uncomfortably. Dr Cullen had warned her of the discomfort that breathing would soon bring, but as prepared as she thought she was, she knew that the inevitable struggle would not be anything she could ever be truly prepared for. She knew that this was just the beginning of how horrible it would end up feeling for her. The reality of dying would one day end up being too much for her to handle.
She wondered for a moment if taking the opportunity that Jasper had offered when the time came would make her brave or a coward. What in the end would be the easy solution? Dying and leaving him, or living and leaving everyone else she loved? In that moment, she wasn’t sure, but she did know what her heart yearned for. The image of his amber eyes flooded her thoughts, the idea of him alone, calming her unsteady breaths.
A soft bell jingled behind her, pulling her from her wandering thoughts as she quickly pulled the fabric back up her arms and onto her shoulders. She turned taking in the site of Bella walking towards her holding a small book in her hand. “Ready?” She asked, gesturing with a nod to the road ahead. Camila nodded, giving a small smile as they started the trek back to where the restaurant was.
Their shoes thudded against the sidewalk as they walked in silence, a fog starting to settle in around them. They turned, cutting in between two buildings, taking the same route back that they had taken to get there. Suddenly, it became glaringly obvious the stark difference between the alley during the day and at night, and just as suddenly, Camila felt a chill run up her spine. Not the same chill she would get when Jasper touched her, but an eery chill.
Stood there on the other side of the ally was the group of men who had passed by at the dress shop, looking much more menacing under the dim glow of the street lights. One of the men had just spotted them and had turned in his tracks to move towards them, the rest of the men following his lead. Camila grabbed Bella’s arm, turning back around before swiftly retracing their steps onto the trail they had just taken.
They were now in a much bigger clearing, although just as deserted, and Camila chastised her self mentally for letting her pain and jumbled thoughts cloud her judgement. She wasn’t stupid, but god did she feel like she was in that moment. If she had been paying more attention she would’ve noticed the time of day or even the lack of people on their walk to the book store.
Footsteps echoed throughout the air, the men no doubt following them further into the clearing. “Saw you in the dress store.” One of the men called out loudly. Camila forced her eyes to remain ahead, as if ignoring the men would make them disappear.
“Hey, where are you running to?” Another yelled. Camila’s heart began to race, hearing the thudding in her ears, breath becoming shallow and quick, her lungs tightening with every gasp for air.
Blinking rapidly, trying to calm her heart and her mind as the panic set it, three more men came into view on the other end of the lot. “What up? It’s my girls.” One said, his eyes meeting hers as the other three coming in closer. A menacing smirk coated his face as she tired to look anywhere but into his dark terrifying eyes.
One man from behind called out to another. “How you guys doing? Look who we just found.”
Camila’s hand tightened around Bella’s arm, attempting to ground herself in the moment and not settle into a full blown panic attack.
“What’s up, girls?”
“Hey, where are you going?”
“Where are you going?”
“Come get a drink with us.”
“Yeah, you should hang out with us, come on.”
“It’s fun.”
“What’s the problem?” “You’re pretty.”
Voices called out around them as the men got closer and closer starting to cage them in and breaking them apart from each other. Fuck. This couldn’t be happening. The one time she went out with friends, and this happens? Really? Panic was really starting to set in as her mind began to wander further. It was one thing for this to happen to her, I mean her life was about to end anyway, but Bella too? She had her whole life ahead of her.
“Don’t touch me.” Bella snapped, pulling her arm from one of the men harshly.
The voices continued to ramble around them. Sadness bloomed in her chest as reality sunk in. Unless a miracle happened soon, they would likely end up dead by the end of this and despite having thought that she was prepared for death, she couldn’t get Jasper’s face out of her mind. Maybe she wasn’t as ready for the end as she had thought. The thought of leaving Jasper was what hurt the most, leaving a gaping hole in her heart. Maybe she was a coward, maybe not, in that moment she didn’t care. All she cared about was him.
Darkness started to encroach her vision, seeping in from all sides. Her body started to feel heavy, pain shooting up her arm as one of the men grabbed harshly at her, his fingers digging into her flesh. She was certain she would faint soon when all of a sudden, the screeching of tires against the pavement behind her cut through her jumbled thoughts.
She turned her head feebly, a silver Volvo whipping around the corner, causing the men to jump back. Wait a second. She knew that car. Edward, thank god. She thought, relief flooding her veins. She had been sure that they were goners, destined to end up on some Dateline or CSI episode.
The car jerked to a stop, Edward popping out of the driver seat, quickly followed by Jasper from the passenger seat. “Get in the car.” Edward instructed Bella.
Jasper rushed to Camila’s side, wrapping his arm tightly around her waist as he allowed her to rest her bodyweight on him, leading her to the back seat of the car. He sat her against the leather seats, pulling back to look her in the eyes.
Camila took in the view of his face, his hand coming up to brush her cheek gently. “Are you okay?” He asked, concern filling his voice. She nodded in response, letting out a deep shaky breath she didn’t know she had been holding. Relief flooded through her. She wasn’t going to die tonight. Jasper had saved her. Tears pricked her eyes as she pulled him towards her by the collar of his shirt into her open arms.
She wrapped them tightly around his neck, breathing in his scent. “Thank you.” She whispered, her breath catching in her throat as she tried to blink back the tears.
Jasper willed himself to pull away from her grip, pressing his lips to hers fiercely before pulling away quicker than he would have liked as he backed up further onto the pavement. “I’ll be right back, stay here.” He instructed, forcing his eyes to leave hers as he stepped away.
Jasper stood to his full height, closing the door of the vehicle behind him, turning to look at the group of men before him. White hot anger ripped through his chest as he assessed the men. He wanted to kill them. To rip them to shreds for even thinking about doing anything to her. The truth was, if Edward hadn’t convinced Jasper to come along on a trip to watch over Camila and Bella then they would have gone through with the unspeakable.
Edward had seen what one of the men was thinking. Had seen that he had done this sort of thing to other women before. Had seen that he would do it again given the chance. Jasper squared his shoulders pushing his power out from himself. Pushing fear into the minds of the men before him. Unspeakable fear that would never leave them, never completely. A waking nightmare that would terrify them to their last days, because as much as he wanted to physically hurt them, he knew that he couldn’t. Not with Camila so close and already afraid. This would be the next best thing. This would have to suffice. This would have to tame the beast inside of him.
Their faces morphed into looks of terror and Jasper watched, only slightly satisfied as he watched them scramble away as quickly as their feet would take them. Wishing that he could’ve somehow inflicted more terror on the men.
Jasper turned back to the car, rushing to get inside as Edward closed the driver side door. He joined Camila in the back seat, pulling her towards him and wrapping her into his grasp as Edward sped away from the scene. Camila shook in his arms, the reality of everything that had just happened lingering in the air around them. Vaguely, Jasper could hear the voices of Edward and Bella in the front of the vehicle, although he paid them no mind. All that mattered to him in that moment was Camila.
He had known deep down that something would happen, he didn’t however think it would have ever been something like this. Something like a group of revolting men attempting to take her away from him. His jaw clenched at the mere thought of it, the idea infuriating him to no end.
But what enraged him the most was the terror radiating off of Camila. The terror that those vile men inflicted on her. He realized that it was slightly hypocritical to think of these men as monsters while he sat there, knowing of his own past, knowing of the blood on his hands, but he knew he would never even think of doing such a thing to a woman.
The fact that these men had been about to do such unspeakable things to anyone was bad enough, but to her? The fire in his chest burned hotter as he imagined what he would’ve done to the men had it not been for Camila’s presence. Vivid images overtook his mind. Ripping. Tearing. Blood. Mangled bodies littering the ground. For a moment, he imagined indulging himself on that blood, feasting on the terrible men and for the first time in so long, truly satisfying his eternal thirst.
“Jasper.” Edward hissed through his teeth. Jasper’s eyes shot up to meet his brother’s in the rear view mirror, seeing his seething glare. He realized in that moment that his vivid mental imagery probably wasn’t helping Edward deal with his own fury over the situation.
Jasper sucked in a breath that his lungs didn’t need. “Sorry.” He muttered in reply, turning his attention back to the girl in his arms. She gave no sign of fright, her expression completely blank as she looked ahead in a daze, but her body continued to shake ever so slightly. Jasper felt the fear, radiating outwards from her and focused his power on trying to sooth her. Her body relaxed in his arms, letting out a sigh as she buried her face in his neck, breathing in the musky scent of him.
“Thank you.” She muttered into his skin. She wasn’t exactly sure what she was thanking him for, whether it be saving her, or helping calm her down, or both even, but she thanked him nonetheless. Regardless of its’ origin, she needed her gratitude for him to be known.
Time moved quickly in a blur around her as the car suddenly came to a halt. She looked up, realizing that Edward had parked the car, seeming to have driven to the restaurant that they had planned on meeting Angela and Jessica at. Camila’s eyes flickered up to Jasper’ face in question. “We should get you something to eat.” He said softly, brushing a strand of hair out of her face.
Her eyes bore into his pleadingly. “Can we please stay in the car? I’ll eat when I get home, promise.” She begged, wanting the privacy that the restaurant would not be able to provide. In truth, she hadn’t wanted to leave his arms, his comforting embrace being one of the only things in that moment keeping her grounded. The security of his strong arms around her made her feel safe, made her feel like she was home. In reality, that is what he had become to her, her home.
Jasper paused for a moment, contemplating their options before nodding. Bella was sure to have many questions and this was definitely not the time for anything resembling a double date.
Soon, the two were alone the radio playing softly in the background of their silence. “I’m sorry.” Camila muttered quietly, breaking the comfortable silence.
Jasper’s head turned, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “What do you have to be sorry for?” He asked, grabbing her chin to turn her head to force her eyes to his own.
She sucked in a shaky breath, “I wasn’t thinking when I left with Bella or I would’ve convinced her to stay with Jessica and Angela. I had headache and needed some fresh air and-“ She rambled on.
“You don’t have anything to apologize for.” He interrupted, having not had the patience to listen to her attempt to punish herself further. “It is not your fault that there are horrible people in the world.” He assured her, resting his forehead on hers.
Camila closed her eyes, focusing on the feel of Jasper’s skin against her own. She was beyond lucky and she knew it. Lucky that Edward and Jasper were there, listening, paying attention to make sure that Bella and her were safe. She would have thanked him again if it weren’t for his persistence that it wasn’t her fault. Camila knew that it was though, knew that she should have been thinking more clearly, should have been more aware.
So, instead of thanking him once more verbally, she leaned forward to plant a kiss to his lips. She leaned fervently into the touch, pouring every ounce of emotion into the kiss as possible, her lips moving in sync with his own. In that moment she knew. Knew that this was the coward’s way out. Choosing Jasper was most definitely the easier of her two options. Living her life with him, grasping at their forever had to be the cowardly choice, because the other option seemed so much more torturous.

Right in front of you | Leslie Shay
Pairing: Leslie Shay x Reader Reader pronouns used: she/her Prompt: "Is that a hickey?" Masterlist | Chicago Fire masterlist | Words: 1k
You loved to cook at the firehouse around the corner, on your days off from the family owned restaurant you worked at. Besides loving to cook, it was also a way for you to see your girlfriend when she was on shift. The environment at 51 was also not bad, you loved being around the people that Shay called her family, even though most of them didn’t know you and Shay were a thing. The two of you didn’t mind people knowing, you just didn’t want to make telling people such a big deal. Severide and Dawson knew for sure as they were her best friends, and maybe some other people had guessed and just never mentioned it. There were however also a few people that were definitely still clueless, like Cruz and Otis, as they were about to prove to you once again, you realized when you saw them walk in with their eyes focussed on you.
“Good morning boys, how was the call?” You ask as you put some scrambled eggs and bacon on a plate for each of them. Cruz was quick to give you an answer, priding himself on saving the day. “I rescued an old lady from her house before it was engulfed in flames.” Otis quickly chimes in, “Not before I located her and told you where to find her.” It was adorable how hard they were trying. “Sounds like a great start to the day, then.” You smile.
You had been coming to prepare food at the station for a few months now. When Shay had breakfast duty one day she asked if you could prepare breakfast for take out at the restaurant, after she relayed the many compliments the team gave to the food, you had suggested coming over to cook breakfast in the firehouse once a week, much to Shay and the team's liking.
Not a day at the firehouse went by without Cruz and Otis trying to flirt with you. Not responding to their flirts or not showing the same interests back didn't stop them from trying every time, though. You had mentioned it to Shay after the first time it happened, wanting to be open about it. She just laughed at their antics with you, before she pecked your lips and told you, “You just tell them off or tell them about us if it gets annoying, okay?” So far, you had just found it funny, and decided to see how long they were going to keep this up, still not in any way giving them a signal that you were interested in them, of course.
You were still making scrambled eggs when Shay and Dawson got back from their call. They walked right up to you for their food, a cup of coffee, and of course they started a conversation with you. When they sat down with the rest of the team Shay overheard Cruz and Otis whispering amongst themselves. “We should start a bet on who will be able to get y/n to go on a date with them first.” She exchanges a look with Dawson, both of them working hard on keeping their laughter in. Shay, like you, thought their antics were hilarious, so she didn't stop them, unless you would get uncomfortable by it.
Shay joins the conversation of their other teammates. She gets tired of her hair in her face so she puts her hair up in a quick messy bun. “Wow, Shay, is that a hickey?” Mills gasps. Dawson turns Shay's head her way so she can see for herself. “Sure looks like a hickey, Mills, never seen one before?” The brunette jokes. The rest of the team starts bombarding your girlfriend with questions, you look over to the group as it starts quite the commotion. “Okay, okay, calm down. You all get one question.” Shay says, knowing these people well enough to know they were going to drop it.
Capp starts off the questioning round. “Is she hot?” He immediately gets a shove to the shoulder by Tony, “Was that seriously the best you could do?” After he shrugs, Shay answers, “Yes, she's very hot.” Mills goes next, “One night stand?” She shakes her head, “No.” The team shares a look before Casey asks the next question, “Does Severide know who it is then?” Severide answers that one, letting the team know that he does. Otis decides to ask the next question, “Do we know her?” Shay noticed that you were walking towards the table with your own plate of food. “Yes, you do.” She says. You can see their brains working overtime, and have to try to hold in your laugh, as you sit down besides Shay.
You share a look with Shay, letting her know that however she wants to handle this, it is okay with you. She smiles and puts her arm over the back of your chair. “It's really not that hard to think of a person that you all know.” She says, pulling their eyes back to her. The arm on your chair makes its way to your side, as she pulls you closer to her. “She's literally sitting right in front of you.” After finishing her sentence she places a kiss on your forehead and keeps holding you close. Most of the reactions to the news were comments along the lines of that’s great, congratulations, or you’ve got to keep this one around followed by Mouch pointing to the food and then giving a thumbs up. Of course, those reactions were all great, however, your favorite reactions were those of Cruz and Otis. Their eyes widened when they realized they had been flirting with Shay’s girlfriend for weeks.
The newly found information made the team quickly forget about the hickey that started the conversation, as the team was happy to see Shay so happy with you. They continued asking you both questions, how did you meet? and how long have you been together? until the alarm rang and all companies were being called to a scene. Shay kisses you before getting up, “Thank you for breakfast, baby.”

Sabine Wren & Ahsoka Tano (Quick Analysis)
Fear is The Path
Alright, let's get into it.
For this post we're going to take a look into the Master/Apprentice relationship between Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren. Specifically, I'm going to be looking into why Ahsoka felt it necessary to walk away from Sabine's training as a Jedi.
In Ahsoka, we're pointed to a major historical event known as the Great Purge of Mandalore being the catalyst; the Empire carpet bombing the planet surface, killing millions of Mandalorians, scattering the remaining survivors to the stars and, for Sabine, causing the loss of her entire family: Alrich Wren (father), Countess Ursa Wren (mother), and Tristan Wren (brother).
Ahsoka, for reasons only known to herself, abandoned Sabine's Jedi training shortly after this event. We're given some insight via Huyang in Ahsoka 1x08, however:
Huyang: Ahsoka became afraid that Sabine was training to be a Jedi for the wrong reasons after what happened on Mandalore. Ezra: Which was? Huyang: At the end of the war, the Empire purged the entire surface of the planet, killing hundreds of thousands. Ezra: Her family? Huyang: Were all lost, sadly. At the time, Ahsoka felt that if Sabine unlocked her potential, she would become dangerous.
However, it's clear that Huyang doesn't have the full picture of the fallout between Ahsoka and Sabine. Sabine herself only has her own warped view of why Ahsoka left, as evidenced by Baylan's manipulation in Ahsoka 1x04:
Baylan: I know you feel that Ezra Bridger is the only family you have left. Your family died on Mandalore . . . because your Master didn't trust you.
Piecing together the, admittedly, few clues we have paints the picture that Ahsoka prevented Sabine from helping her family during the Purge - which led to their deaths.
It's understandable that Sabine would have been outraged; both at the loss of her family, her people, her way of life and also at her Master who, for whatever reason, did not want Sabine present on Mandalore to save her family.
Until Dave Filoni reveals the exact details of what happened during that event, we're left with speculation. My personal take is simply this: Ahsoka did not want Sabine to die alongside her family. It's what makes the most amount of sense to me.
Ahsoka cares about Sabine, like any Master would do for their student.
So - Sabine loses everything and begins to take steps towards a turn to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering, as Master Yoda says. Ahsoka, sensing this dark rage bloom in her student, decides to stop the training out of fear that Sabine becomes another Vader.
Except. That doesn't make any sense to me.
Because Ahsoka Tano is who she is.
Ahsoka survived her own Purge. The fall of the Jedi Order, her home, and the institution that she pledged most of her life to, the only family she had ever known.
Ahsoka knows this pain. She is, arguably, the best suited to steer Sabine away from a potential turn to the Dark Side after her student loses everything in the same way that she did.
Actress Rosario Dawson - and backed up by the hat man himself - has stated that Ahsoka has had plenty of opportunities to turn to the Dark Side. She's fought through two Galactic Civil Wars, seen everyone she loved die, and has been betrayed by the people she fought so hard to protect.
And, yet, Ahsoka Tano never turned. She stayed on her path, long and winding as it may be, and continued to serve the Light in the best way she knew how.
At some point, she takes on Sabine as a Padawan, seeing echoes of Anakin in her. Yes, there's the anger and the recklessness there that makes Ahsoka uneasy, but that's always been a part of Sabine's character. It's nothing new. She decided to take Sabine Wren as her apprentice, anyway, and it worked fine until the Purge.
So, what happened? What changed? What was the growing darkness in her Padawan that convinced Ahsoka Tano that the best course of action was to abandon the Jedi training - abandon Sabine entirely - at a time when she needed counseling the most?
Attachment. Sabine's attachment to Ezra.
Dave Filoni and the actress for Sabine Wren, the fantastic Natasha Liu Bordizzo, have both pointed out that there are echoes of Anakin in Sabine. In separate interviews, both spoke about the anger and recklessness in Sabine - but, more interesting, they did not acknowledge the major factor in Anakin's downfall.
Anakin's attachment to his loved ones. His inability to let go.
It's bizarre that they didn't talk about this and I suspect that it's on purpose. Because that is arguably the biggest reason why Anakin fell to the Dark Side. The anger and the recklessness were all symptoms of this larger issue for Anakin Skywalker.
And Ahsoka Tano sensed the same in Sabine Wren.
Let's look at evidence from another Filoni series, The Mandalorian. From episode 2x05, The Jedi, when Ahsoka is re-introduced into the Star Wars universe.
There's a pivotal moment when she meets Grogu and Force communes with him to get a sense of his history.
She senses "great fear and anger" in him at the beginning; it makes her wary, of course, but it doesn't seem to perturb her.
However, when Din asks if she can teach him, Ahsoka flatly rejects the idea for this reason:
youtube
What she says is vitally important:
Ahsoka: His attachment to you makes him vulnerable to his fears. His anger. Din: All the more reason to train him. Ahsoka: No. I've seen what such feelings can do to a fully trained Jedi Knight. To the best of us.
That's where Ahsoka draws the line in the sand; it's not the anger that scares her - it's Grogu's attachment to Din.
And, mind you, the timeline of this episode occurs after Ahsoka and Sabine had their split. So, even though she's clearly referencing Anakin here, I don't doubt that Sabine is also on her mind.
Think about it. Sabine has just lost everything - except for Ezra. The anger is something Ahsoka can deal with, but Sabine's attachment to Ezra is not; she knows it's the primary reason for Anakin's downfall and she was powerless to stop it.
That's what drives Ahsoka away. That is what scares her. She couldn't be there for Anakin, was blind to what was happening; and now, it's happening with Sabine.
The only path Ahsoka can see forward is to leave Sabine; prevent her Padawan from reaching full potential. It's an awful course to take and it leaves Sabine stranded, feeling alone, at a time when she needed mentorship and guidance the most.
But it's all Ahsoka can think of. She cares about Sabine and is too blinded by her own fears to believe in her own ability to stop Sabine from falling into the same darkness that took Anakin.
Sabine only has Ezra now with Ahsoka gone. He's the only one she can save now, the only one she can do anything for. The loss of her family has caused her attachment, her feelings for Ezra, to sharpen into something deadly: possessiveness. The exact feeling that Jedi warned against.
Why didn't Ahsoka stop this from happening earlier?
Because this is Sabine and Ezra; we know Sabine and Ezra were close, as did Ahsoka. It's probable that Sabine's feelings were gradually heading in this direction and the Purge just gave it a decisive push to the inevitable conclusion.
Ahsoka, also, presumably knew how Sabine felt the entire time and didn't want to have an honest talk with her Padawan about it.
Because it's Sabine and Ahsoka herself was still operating under the influence of Anakin's legacy as Vader; she was scared to bring it out into the open, because she didn't know what to do if her fears were confirmed about Sabine's feelings.
I mean, it's obvious that this isn't the first time they've probably talked about this, as evidenced by this scene in Ahsoka 1x04:
youtube
Ahsoka knows. She comes the closest in this scene, out of everyone else in Sabine's life, to directly confront Sabine about her true feelings for her old friend.
She knows that there's more going on underneath the surface of Sabine regarding her feelings towards Ezra. It's not a conversation she wants to have in this moment (just look at the body language), but there's no other choice - not with the stakes this high.
There is no way that this is the first time Ahsoka has broached the subject about Ezra with her Padawan and, knowing Sabine, she probably walked away from every attempt a little more worried.
But Ahsoka refused to really have that open conversation with Sabine, settling only for these half-hearted comments and, in doing so, set up her student for failure. Sabine was unprepared; had no way of being vigilant towards her worst enemy - herself.
Ahsoka's actions, caused by fear of herself and Anakin's legacy, left Sabine vulnerable to her feelings.
They had been growing all this time and now, with no one to temper them, were allowed to become something more - something dangerous.
The Purge happened. Sabine's family died. Her people died. Mandalore was lost.
After that, Sabine had nothing left to lose. Her attachment to Ezra, her love for him - it made her vulnerable to her fear. Just as Ahsoka feared it would.
Sabine couldn't lose Ezra. Her love for him - her fear of losing him, like her family - dictated that no sacrifice was too great; no cost, too high.
And Baylan used it as the perfect weapon against her. "Do it. For Ezra."
We know the rest.
Sabine gambled. The galaxy lost.
Fear won.

Missing on Moonstone | Shivering Soldier x Reader
Synopsis: The Shivering Soldier finds love after being rescued from the war.
Warnings: Dub-Con, Smut, PTSD, Mentions of Death, Compulsive Behavior, Period-Typical Values
Author's Note: Finally wrote something for this character after pining for him for so long. Enjoy!
After being rescued from a sinking U-Boat, the Shivering Soldier found a makeshift home on Moonstone. He also formed a hidden obsession with you—the only woman on board. He would wait until you were sound asleep to watch over you. Little to your knowledge, this was his nightly routine. He couldn’t understand this compulsion but worried what could happen if he didn’t go through with it.
Your peaceful slumber was interrupted by a rogue wave that shook the boat. You were startled by the dark figure standing at the end of your bed. You scrambled to find the pistol you kept in the nightstand before he grabbed your arm.
“I won’t hurt you.” He said, holding your arm tightly.
“Why are you watching me sleep?” You inspected, managing to squirm out of his grip. Your question didn’t register to the traumatized man. You lit a candle and cautiously stood before him.
“What’s your name?” You asked. His vacant stare flickered with recognition for a moment before the answer left him once more.
“Do you have any family back home?” You probed.
“My wife. Well, she was my wife.” He blurted out. You felt a deep empathy for him as you lost your fiancé in the earlier in the war. You went to move his hair out of his face before he swiped your hand away.
“Don’t.” He warned, fearing another episode of panic. A hushed apology managed to calm him down a bit.
“You can sleep on the floor if you’d like. The bed’s not that different.” You joked, handing him a blanket and pillow. He gave a nod as a gesture of gratitude and laid down. Not dissimilar to his routine, he waited for you to fall asleep before trailing off himself.
The following morning, the Soldier was worried to see that you weren’t in bed. He hurried out of the room to see you coming out of the lavatory with a towel around your body. He turned red while he took in the beautiful sight.
“Take a picture, will ya’? You should head upstairs for breakfast. The boys are greedy.” You quipped, disappearing into the bedroom. Before you could shut the door, he wedged himself inside and stared at you with famished eyes.
“Sir, I know it’s been twenty fortnights since you’ve felt the touch of a woman but this isn’t right.” You insisted.
“How long has it been for you?” He interrogated, walking closer to you. As shameful as it was, his brazen commentary lit a flame in you. You avoided his gaze until he asked you again.
“How long?” He said softly, loosening your grasp on the towel.
“You stop counting after a while.” You whispered. He kissed you with wild abandon as your fingers undid the buttons of his secondhand shirt. He laid you on the bed and impatiently unbuckled his pants. You two kissed again for what felt like an eternity before he slipped inside of you. You stopped breathing for a moment as you adjusted to the sensuous feeling. His thrusts were dawdling as he savored every moment. Hushed moans left you as you wrapped your legs around him.
“I love you.” He breathed out, plunging farther into your depths. The ramshackle bed began to creak with his impassioned movements.
“I love you too.” You exclaimed. You two spent the remainder of the morning intertwined with one another.
Worried for your safety, Dawson knocked on your bedroom door. You shoved the half-nude Soldier into your closet, slipped on your nightgown, and opened the door.
“All good, hun? You didn’t come up for breakfast.” He asked, looking at you closely. You adjusted your strap to hide the love bites on your collarbone.
“Yes, sir, I’m fine. I just overslept. Thank you for checking on me.” You replied too quickly to dampen any suspicion.
“Well, I saved some for you. Watch out for the soldier. He’s a bit jumpy. We’ll be in Dover in a few hours.” He said.
“Thank you. I’ll pack my things.” You agreed, shutting the door.
“Hear that? We get to start over in just a few hours.” You whispered, looking at him with eager eyes. He wordlessly embraced you and kissed your forehead. Between packing your belongings, he gave you impassioned kisses.
Upon Moonstone’s arrival in Dover, Dawson had figured out what kept you that morning. Peter and George were hopelessly naive. He was worried that Soldier was just looking for company in a post-war haze. His only hope that he wouldn’t abandon you after getting what he wanted. You all reached a property with quaint cottages with a pathway separating the two.
6 years later
The war finally ended. You and the Soldier’s family grew by 2 with a son and a daughter later on. During the birth of his son, he finally remembered his name and decided to make him a junior. Your daughter was named after your mother. You two married in a homely ceremony with Dawson as the officiant. He eventually returned home with Peter and George and left the land rights to you two. Letters and gifts of well wishes from the trio were constant. His nightmares grew less frequent as he shared this new life with you.

Tribute Niko Sasaki
The animals in Ten starved less than the people did. Niko is familiar with how a person looks when they’re breaking.
She remembers helping rescue Edwin and Charles from Teeth Face and Esther Finch. She didn't do much of the actual 'saving' there. She didn't do any saving, either, while the rest of her family was taking down Esther Finch and the President- she was too busy surviving.
Once again, Niko can't save Edwin, Charles, or Monty from themselves.
But maybe she can find out what broke them. Maybe she can find a way to stitch them back together.
Niko Sasaki isn't brave. She isn't a Victor. She isn't hardened. She hasn't proven herself.
But she is kind, and she can stitch a jacket as well as she can a dead body, and she will not let her friends swallow themselves whole.
-aletterinthenameofsanity, can still hear you saying (you would never break the chain)
Pull up, nobody panic Why did you vanish? Hold up, needed a hand and Nobody had it
I'm on the fence and I'm rocking To the side I call home I'm on the edge of my coffin With a smile and some hope

I promised a book haul of all the exciting books I purchased on my travels to London and Edinburgh! y'all... I bought TEN books...
Here is the stack of books and also some cute bookmarks I got from various places!
Here is the breakdown of all the books with their official descriptions:

Ro has never felt this way about another woman; with Ash, she wants to be her and have her in equal measure. But as her obsession with Ash consumes her, she may find she’s not the one doing the devouring…
Monsters: What Do We Do With Great Art By Bad People? by Claire Dederer
Pablo Picasso beat his partners. Richard Wagner was deeply antisemitic. David Bowie slept with an underage fan. But many of us still love Guernica and the Ring cycle and Ziggy Stardust. And what are we to do with that love? How are we, as fans, to reckon with the biographical choices of the artists whose work sustains us? Wildly smart and insightful, Monsters is an exhilarating attempt to understand our relationship with art and the artist in the twenty-first century.
Little Rot by Akwaeke Emezi
One weekend. The elite underbelly of a Nigerian city. A breakup that starts a spiral. A party that goes awry. A tangled web of sex and lies and corruption that leaves no one unscathed. Little Rot is a whirling journey through the city’s dark side, told through the eyes of five people, each determined to run from the twisted powers out to destroy them. Aima and Kalu are a longtime couple who have just split. When Kalu, reeling from his loss, visits a sex party hosted by his best friend, Ahmed, he makes a decision that will plunge them all into chaos, brutally upending their lives. Ola and Souraya, two Nigerian sex workers visiting from Kuala Lumpur, intersect with the three old friends as everything goes to hell. Sucked into the city’s corrupt underworld, they’re all looking for a way out of the trouble they’ve instigated, driven by loss and fueled by a desperate need to escape the dangerous threat that looms over them. They careen madly in the face of the poison of power, sexual violence, murder, betrayals. Little Rot tests how far these five will go to save each other—or themselves—when confronted by evil, culminating in a shattering denouement.
The Wind Knows My Name by Isabel Allende
Vienna, 1938. Samuel Adler is five years old when his father disappears during Kristallnacht—the night his family loses everything. As her child’s safety becomes ever harder to guarantee, Samuel’s mother secures a spot for him on a Kindertransport train out of Nazi-occupied Austria to England. He boards alone, carrying nothing but a change of clothes and his violin.
Arizona, 2019. Eight decades later, Anita Díaz and her mother board another train, fleeing looming danger in El Salvador and seeking refuge in the United States. But their arrival coincides with the new family separation policy, and seven-year-old Anita finds herself alone at a camp in Nogales. She escapes her tenuous reality through her trips to Azabahar, a magical world of the imagination. Meanwhile, Selena Durán, a young social worker, enlists the help of a successful lawyer in hopes of tracking down Anita’s mother.
Intertwining past and present, The Wind Knows My Name tells the tale of these two unforgettable characters, both in search of family and home. It is both a testament to the sacrifices that parents make and a love letter to the children who survive the most unfathomable dangers—and never stop dreaming.
Bone Black: Memories of Girlhood by bell hooks
Stitching together the threads of her girlhood memories, bell hooks shows us one strong-spirited child's journey toward becoming the pioneering writer we know. Along the way, hooks sheds light on the vulnerability of children, the special unfurling of female creativity and the imbalance of a society that confers marriage's joys upon men and its silences on women. In a world where daughters and fathers are strangers under the same roof, and crying children are often given something to cry about, hooks uncovers the solace to be found in solitude, the comfort to be had in the good company of books. Bone Black allows us to bear witness to the awakening of a legendary author's awareness that writing is her most vital breath.
A House at the Bottom of a Lake by Josh Malerman
Both seventeen. Both afraid. But both saying yes. It sounded like the perfect first date: canoeing across a chain of lakes, sandwiches and beer in the cooler. But teenagers Amelia and James discover something below the water’s surface that changes their lives forever. It’s got two stories. It’s got a garden. And the front door is open. It’s a house at the bottom of a lake. For the teens, there is only one rule: no questions. And yet, how could a place so spectacular come with no price tag? While the duo plays house beneath the waves, one reality remains: Just because a house is empty, doesn’t mean nobody’s home.
Godkiller by Hannah Kaner
Kissen’s family were killed by zealots of a fire god. Now, she makes a living killing gods, and enjoys it. That is until she finds a god she cannot kill: Skedi, a god of white lies, has somehow bound himself to a young noble, and they are both on the run from unknown assassins. Joined by a disillusioned knight on a secret quest, they must travel to the ruined city of Blenraden, where the last of the wild gods reside, to each beg a favour. Pursued by demons, and in the midst of burgeoning civil war, they will all face a reckoning – something is rotting at the heart of their world, and only they can be the ones to stop it.
People Love Dead Jews: Reports from a Haunted Present by Dara Horn
Renowned and beloved as a prizewinning novelist, Dara Horn has also been publishing penetrating essays since she was a teenager. Often asked by major publications to write on subjects related to Jewish culture—and increasingly in response to a recent wave of deadly antisemitic attacks—Horn was troubled to realize what all of these assignments had in common: she was being asked to write about dead Jews, never about living ones. In these essays, Horn reflects on subjects as far-flung as the international veneration of Anne Frank, the mythology that Jewish family names were changed at Ellis Island, the blockbuster traveling exhibition Auschwitz, the marketing of the Jewish history of Harbin, China, and the little-known life of the "righteous Gentile" Varian Fry. Throughout, she challenges us to confront the reasons why there might be so much fascination with Jewish deaths, and so little respect for Jewish lives unfolding in the present. Horn draws upon her travels, her research, and also her own family life—trying to explain Shakespeare’s Shylock to a curious ten-year-old, her anger when swastikas are drawn on desks in her children’s school, the profound perspective offered by traditional religious practice and study—to assert the vitality, complexity, and depth of Jewish life against an antisemitism that, far from being disarmed by the mantra of "Never forget," is on the rise. As Horn explores the (not so) shocking attacks on the American Jewish community in recent years, she reveals the subtler dehumanization built into the public piety that surrounds the Jewish past—making the radical argument that the benign reverence we give to past horrors is itself a profound affront to human dignity.
84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff
In 1949 Helene Hanff, a “poor writer with an antiquarian taste in books”, wrote to Marks & Co Booksellers of 84 Charing Cross Rd, in search of the rare editions she was unable to find in New York. Her books were dispatched with polite but brisk efficiency. But, seeking further treasures, Helene soon found herself in regular correspondence with bookseller Frank Doel, laying siege to his English reserve with her warmth and wit. And as letters, books and quips crossed the ocean, a friendship flourished that would endure for twenty years.
Rouge by Mona Awad
For as long as she can remember, Belle has been insidiously obsessed with her skin and skincare videos. When her estranged mother Noelle mysteriously dies, Belle finds herself back in Southern California, dealing with her mother’s considerable debts and grappling with lingering questions about her death. The stakes escalate when a strange woman in red appears at the funeral, offering a tantalizing clue about her mother’s demise, followed by a cryptic video about a transformative spa experience. With the help of a pair of red shoes, Belle is lured into the barbed embrace of La Maison de Méduse, the same lavish, culty spa to which her mother was devoted. There, Belle discovers the frightening secret behind her (and her mother’s) obsession with the mirror—and the great shimmering depths (and demons) that lurk on the other side of the glass. Snow White meets Eyes Wide Shut in this surreal descent into the dark side of beauty, envy, grief, and the complicated love between mothers and daughters. With black humor and seductive horror, Rouge explores the cult-like nature of the beauty industry—as well as the danger of internalizing its pitiless gaze. Brimming with California sunshine and blood-red rose petals, Rouge holds up a warped mirror to our relationship with mortality, our collective fixation with the surface, and the wondrous, deep longing that might lie beneath.

Shattered Lives, Mended Hearts
Request: Hello 👋🤗 I know you get a lot lately, but is it okay if I send in another Antonio idea ? We just love him too much 😯So maybe another angsty one where you're a paramedic and one time join the Intelligence team at a case and take care of a little wound at Antonio's arm and you two are flirting like love birds (you have a thing for each other but neither of you admits it). Then some car crashes into the Ambo while you do so, and you get stuck and hurt pretty bad and Antonio tries to get you out. With everyone's help you can be saved but need to go to the hospital where Antonio is like your shadow, never leaving you and finally getting the guts to tell you his feelings ?
Pairings: Antonio Dawson x Paramedic!Reader
Warnings: angst, fluff, car crashes, hospitals, medical inaccuracies , cursing, shitty exes
You were a paramedic for Firehouse 51, you rode with Sylvie Brett on Ambulance 61 with Gabriela Dawson. Sylvie and Gabriela were hesitant to get another partner but when they met you and started to work with you, they quickly changed her mind. You three never figured out why Chief Boden wanted another paramedic on 61 but you three weren’t complaining and wouldn’t have it any other way. You weren’t looking for a relationship at the time but when you had joined the crew down at Molly’s and met most of Intelligence one stuck out to you and instantly stole your heart, who would that be? Well, none other than Antonio Dawson. Gabriela was actually the one to introduce you both and you hit it off very well. You could actually remember the day and conversation that you had when you met him.
It had been one hard long day and you wanted nothing more than to let off some steam. You were fairly new to the team so when they suggested taking you down to Molly’s and getting to know everyone and you agreed. You weren’t very social to begin with but you wanted to get to know your teammates. “Hey, Y/N. Everyone is going to Molly’s after shift and we wanted to see if you would want to come along.” Kelly asked as you put down what you were working and smiled up at him.
“I would love that.” You said and he smiled.
“Great! You can ride with one of us. That is if you want to.” He said and you nodded.
“That would be great.” You said and then you both got called in different directions. When it came time to go Gabriela and Sylvie walked up to you in the locker room and said that the three of you would be riding together after you got ready at home and you three started off towards your cars and headed off to get ready for the night.
When they had picked you up from your apartment small talk was made while driving there and then the topic of relationships came about. “So, you seeing anyone?” Gabriela asked turning to look at you.
“I just got out of a nasty one. I actually broke up with him and then transferred here. He was a firefighter while I was a paramedic.” You said looking down and playing with the sleeve of your shirt.
“He didn’t hurt you, did he?” Sylvie asked while she pulled into a parking spot.
“He did. I tried to report it but nobody believed me and everyone was his friend. It was his word against mine. When he tried to kill me is when I drew the line and the second, I was out of the hospital I was asking for a transfer.” You said and looked up at the girls and they were pissed.
“Well, you don’t have to worry about him. You have us now. You apart of the 51 family and we protect family.” Gabriela said and you nodded and sniffled you never had someone say something so kind, you didn’t grow up in a nice household either with an abusive mother and cop father. Once you hit 18 you moved out went to school and got a job you loved, even if it were made up of mostly men and they treated women like garbage. You wiped your eyes and then all three of you got out of the car and both girls hugged you and slung an arm around your shoulders and walked into the bar. The other members of 51 greeted you and they handed the three of you a beer and the night started. You were having fun and loved your teammates. An hour into the night you heard the door open and saw the group of Intelligence come in, you had briefly met them but one face was new to you. The group saw your group and walked over everyone greeted everyone. The mysterious man and you were looking at each other practically with hearts in both of your eyes, Gabriela took notice of this and smiled. “Y/N this is my brother Antonio Dawson a member of Intelligence. Antonio this is Y/N Y/L/N the newest member of 51 and paramedic for Ambulance 61.” She said with a smile.
“Hi there gorgeous.” He said and you could’ve sworn you melted and you looked down and put a loose hair behind your ear.
“Hi.” You said and looked up. Oh, yea you were already forming a crush. Throughout the night you both had gotten closer and brushed hands. You both were crushing hard on each other. You had drunk a good amount and had decided to call it quits when the girls did. “Goodnight, Antonio.” You said and he smiled he already loved your voice.
“Goodnight, Y/N I hope to see you again.” He said and you nodded and then you left. When you were dropped off at home you took off your shoes and shed your jacket and purse and then got ready for bed with a smile on your face. That was 4 months ago.
Now you knew and got along with everyone and wouldn't have it any other way. You told your crew about what happened and they promised to protect you. They treated you like an equal and all the men acted like your older brothers and the older men acted as your father figure that you never had or an uncle. You and Antonio were getting on very well and you two flirted whenever you saw each other. You two were so in love that neither of you had made a move too nervous and you didn't want to end up like your old relationship but he was making you change your mind.
Ambulance 61 and Truck 81 along with another had been called to a scene where Intelligence just arrested a perp. Some people had gotten hurt and needed to be checked out. When you pulled up they had just put the purp in one of the police cars and now it was time to start checking everyone out. Most of the injuries weren't life threatening and after a few butterfly bandages they were sent on their way. You had been cleaning up and getting ready to leave when Antonio walked up to you. “Hey there, Y/N/N. Mind helping me out with something?” He asked and you smiled and looked up at him and smiled and then frowned when you noticed a cut on his arm.
“You know if you wanted to talk to me and grab my attention all you would have to do is talk to me.” You had said and started to flirt.
“Well, I’ll keep that in mind for next time.” He said and smiled up at you and you had briefly met his eyes then you blushed and looked down starting to work on his arm.
“It’s not deep so no stitches but I’ll wrap it. If it starts to look infected then go to the hospital but you can also call me.” You said and looked up into his eyes and both of you smiled.
“How can I do that? I don’t even have your number.” He asked and leaned up against the back door and you did the same on the opposite door.
“Well,” You said and grabbed a piece of paper from somewhere “here is my number to fix that problem.” You said and handed it to him and when your fingers touched an electric charge went up both of your arms and you both moved closer to each other. That moment wasn’t long lived. You both frowned when you heard tires squealing and an engine rev up. You both looked up and when you saw a very familiar truck speeding your way you pushed Antonio to the side as the truck collided into the back of the ambulance, pinning you and making the airbag deploy inside of the truck. Your head hit the hood of the truck and bounced off and then made you hit the back door officially knocking you unconscious. Everyone saw it happen and moved into action.
“Y/N!” Antonio yelled as everyone started to run over to you. Jay got the driver out along with Hailey and the driver was smirking.
“The bitch got what she deserved.” He said as they led him to a police cruiser. Everyone was crowding around you.
“Ok. Let’s get this truck back and get her to med.” Chief Boden said and everyone nodded and orders were thrown out. They got the truck moved and Antonio hadn’t moved an inch. He slowly lowered your unconscious body to the ground. Sylvie and Gabriela got to work on you and right now it wasn’t looking good. They called out stats and then got you loaded up in the somehow non damaged ambulance and headed off to med.
Both the firetruck and most of the cop cars sped off with you. Antonio never left your side. You were half-way there when you had flatlined and it freaked Antonio out “You don’t get to leave me that easily.” He said “Fight for me.” He whispered and by that time you had come back and arrived at Med. Sylvie told them everything and before they knew it you were being prepped for surgery as they wheeled you away, away from Antonio. He knew you were in the good hands of Will Halstead and Connor Rhodes.
3 hrs is how long they had to wait until they heard any news. All of Firehouse 51 was there and Antonio had yet to leave. Both Will and Connor walked out and blood was on their scrubs as they walked over to the group. “She’s stable. We had to remove one of her kidneys due to it being lacterated and part of her liver. Thankfully her pelvis wasn’t broken.” Will said.
“We did a CT scan and no brain damage had occurred. We expect her to recover fully. We don’t want her in the field for at least a few weeks, maybe even a month.” Connor said and Chief Boden nodded.
“Is she ok for visitors?” Antonio asked and they nodded and showed them the way. Everyone went to say hi and then they had to leave but not Antonio he stayed. He vowed to never leave your side. You were it for him. Jay and Hailey came by and told him the news and he was pissed.
5 hrs later and you were waking up groggy and groaning. Antonio heard this and shot up and grabbed Will and Connor, who were thankfully right by your room. They rushed in and talked to you once they were satisfied, they left saying that they would be back and now it was only you and Antonio. “Hi.” You said looking at him.
“Hi.” He said and smiled. “You ok?” He asked and you nodded.
“I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck.” You said with a grimace.
“You were by your ex-boyfriend.” He said and you frowned.
“You know about him?” You asked
“Yes. Why didn’t you tell me?” He asked not upset at all.
“I was going to when I was ready. We had just started to flirt and I wanted to be sure you were it for me and seeing you here, I realize you are it for me and I don’t want you to go away.” You said looking down with tears threatening to fall. He gently brought your chin up.
“You’re it for me too. Nothing is going to scare me away. It’ll just make me protect you more and you’ll have more family to protect you.” He said and smiled which made you smile “There’s that pretty smile that I love so much.” He said and you smiled “Can I kiss you?” He asked and you nodded. He leaned forward and so did you and your lips met. Once air was needed you released each other.
“Everything as I imagined it would be.” You said with a smile.
“Absolutely.” He said and then he sat back down and stayed with you until you were released.
6 months later you were happily in a relationship with him and you couldn’t ask for anything better. It was perfect. Neither of you were letting each other go anytime soon. Your ex went to prison and you couldn’t be happier and you helped put him away. Everything was looking up and you had Antonio by your side to help you every step of the way. Both of you were it for each other and neither of you would have it any other way.

OOH OKAY FOR HORROR BOOKS RECOMMENDATIONS!
I am i got to admit mostly a YA reader but don’t let that hold you back. I will put the age behind it. Also for other recommendations i vouch for House of Hollow. One of the most horrifying and most satisfying ending reveals.
- Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M Danford (Adult) This one is long and has some tumblr/internet culture references and poly engame, but I am one of the few people who liked it. Multiple timelines: one about the tragic death of teenage girls by wasps and more importantly the older teachers complex relationships with each other and a new maid and a current timeline about the adaptation of the events on a seemingly cursed filmset. Including footnotes drawings and an almost full cast of woman into woman. I liked the stylistic choice
- Extasia by Claire Legrande. (YA) Plot-twist filled post apocalyptic religious Dystopia were a girl is raised as punishment receiver, when she discovers a secret group of witches. So many cults and as i said very twisty
- Where echoes go to die by Courtney Gould (YA and more thriller as the horror is in the suspense and uncalley valley aspects. A young lesbian visits the town her mom got obsessed with before her death, only to find out there is a centre that offer miraculous treatments
- Summers Edge by Dana Mele (YA). Again between horror and psychological thriller. A group teenagers in three timelines visit an summer house, when spooky shit starts to happen. One after a tragic accident, one two year before that and one the year it happened.
- Not good for maidens by Tori Bovaltino (YA bit slow at times. Inspired by globin market. Again two timelines. In one a young girl falls for a female goblin in another a girl saves her cousin from the goblin market)
- Chlorine by Jade Song (psychological horror, Adult): basically a study of this traumatic bisexual Asians woman lives till she becomes a “mermaid”
- Last tale of the flower bride by Roshani Chokshi (YA and more psychological thriller than horror) : two timelines: a man is spiraling his wife is hiding something visiting her family home meanwhile in the past two girls become closer and closer till their delusions might be a bit too real
- All these sunken souls (YA anthology by Black authors and has some bangers)
- My darkest dearest by Kayla Cottingham (YA girls make deals with this female demon underneath their school)
- The Book Eaters by Sunyi Dean (adult handmaiden tale ish. A vampiric book eating aliens life to forced marriage to make sure they don’t die out, until her son is a braineating vampire and she has to run away with him)
- House of Hunger by Alexis Hemderson (Adult, woman to survive poverty sells herself as blood maiden to rich people who drink blood)
- The memory eater by Rebecca Mahoney (YA and more fabulism with horror aspects. A girl is raised to keep the towns memory eating monster imprisoned, till it escape and has apparently eaten her memory too)
Also these adults horrors I have on my radar but not read yet so worth checking out:
- Last to leave the room by Caitlin Starling (she actually wrote a lot horror)
- Our wives beneath the sea by Julia Armfield (also Private rites)
- Bloom by Delilah S Dawson
- They Drown Our Daughters by Katrina Monroe
- Patricia Wants to Cuddle: Samantha Allen
Wow what an extremely detailed and long rec list thank you! Many of these sound interesting, I will be sure to come back to this next time I go to the bookstore lol!
